Sooo… after seeing that video where 3 man group held back 30+ in WvW I was astonished… now I wanna toss together a group of friends to get out there and kill zergs off like that!

PvP Rank Progression Too Slow

Actually it’s not as slow as you think.

Here’s a few questions you should ask yourself:

Am I capturing and breaking enough points?
(After all… they are 20 pts for breaking and capping. 10 pts for just doing 1)

Am I killing the NPC bosses?
(25 Free points!)

Am I getting enough kills and assists?
(15pts a kill if i’m correct… 5 for down… 10 for finishing?)

If I play a standard match I make 250pts+ per game.

If I play a tourny I usually make around 100 or less.. and that’s because in tournament matches it’s all about winning… not points. There are several games where I make 100-200+ though because my team is destroying the other team.

By the way… make sure you use 50% Glory boost to your advantage. You get a ton of glory from it and rank up much faster with it up.

We should get the option to DUEL in a PUBLIC area. Rather than having to duel in PvP in some random server. a /duel @ command or something

What I would really love for Anet to do is IMPROVE Guilds and Make Group Party a more essential tool (mainly for wvw) Thats where a “new support class” comes into play. This way people WANT to group up. of course by making this new class it’ll require some major improvments in other classes… but i’m sure Anet can come up with ideas to help balance this out, through gem store and more.

4. GvG. GUILD. VERSUS. GUILD
YES this game is called GUILD wars. I hope you guys come out with an update for a Guild vs Guild thing. Massive amounts of Guild members or a small amount. Whatever works!!! Maybe they have to have a commander to enter (make commander a bit more useful) they have to join a commaders party, guilds can put up wagers and stuff.. bet money, or some other reward you guys can come up with? Laurels maybe? IDK!!!! but have a nice GvG Brawl.

5. NEW SUPPORT CLASS
The Bard… The Monk… The Minstrel… Whatever you would like to name it.

  • Make this a instrumental class…
    This class uses its mastery of instruments and infuses magic within thier passion for it.
    They can use their magic to cast support spells such as:

Swiftness
Protection
Might
Fury
Stability
Regeneration
AND ALL OTHER BOONS.

Since this is a support class they should have siginificantely longer boon duration that all other classes and all of their boons can be applied to ALL party members and the first 5-10 people in the song’s range. ALSO this should be the first ever class that can cast constant HEALS… NOT REGEN!!.. This way this game is more group friendly and this can be used as an advantage to making this game more interested gameplay wise. People can finally use strategy! instead of tackling things head on and hoping things go well…

6. Healing Power and Regeneration:
Please don’t base the amount of heals you can get from another player off of YOUR healing power. for example….

My Guardian has about 1000 healing power (Take note this is all estimations)
I can pop “Hold the line!” and heal for a good 1800hp but my buddy… Billy the Warrior has no healing power. He heals for 1200. 600 can make a difference. same goes for the elite tome of courage skill 1. I can heal around 2500-3500 a cast. someone w/o healing power heals maybe 1000-2000 I think it’d be better if healing was based off the person who applies the heal. so if they heal but have no healing power… then the ally gets a weak heal. but if they’re focused into healing power and heal an ally… then the ally heals a good amount.

7. Emotes:
to simply put it, can you guys add more emotes please hehe.

I can keep going and going all morn til night but i’ll end this here.. This is a list of ideas I hope you all read and consider. Maybe add on or make some changes? Let’s hope we can get some awesome improvements for Guild Wars 2 and make this an Even BETTER game than it already is!

Here’s the list i’d like for everyone to take some time and read. Please feel free to leave and comments or simply list which ones you agree with.

*And I’d definitely love to hear from any members from the Anet community!

1. Name Changing:
When will we be able to change our names? Some players want to change from Female to Male but they started their character off with a Female name. Please Update with a Name changing option. My thoughts on this was possibly a first time free use, any time after that is charged.

2. Customizable Quickbar:
Possibly a mini customizable quickbar tool? So we Quick tap Food, Nourishment, Weapons, and anything else we might want to be able to easily click on and activate. My suggestion if you like this idea is, make this mini toolbar a minimizable window maybe on the side or anywhere on the screen, a little arrow you can click and open then click to close.

3. Guilds:
The name Guild Wars can really give off the message that Guilds are a big thing in this game. Could you possibly add any improvements to Guilds? Here are some if my ideas:

  • Guilds have several paths they can specialize in.
    And each path has nice passives and boosters. but guilds can only choose 1 path
  • Politics:
    Guild Promoters 2000 influence- These Promoters Walk around the city you activate them in helping to promote your Guild. Anyone can walk up to promoters and see all information about each guild.
  • Art of War:
    Guild Defense 5000 Influence: Each “path” or each guild has the option to summon Guild Tower/Camp/Keep or Castle Defenders.
    These defenders are Champions (Near Lord) and Veterans (That patrol and guard outter areas) They should consist of Healers, Casters, and Tanks. Along the wall, Guild Champion (or veteran) Rangers will be stationed along the walls of the claimed area or the outter perimeter and constantly spam AoE Rain Arrows and between each round of Arrow Rain, shoot individual targets.

The ones I listed in politics and art of war I would suggest.

Architecture:
GUILD HOUSES!!!!!

Now this is really something I am hoping for. Possible creation of a new zone, Housing Area. Where Guilds can Build their Houses from the Ground up, and inside the houses they can put guild belongings rather than having to use that guild vault merchant. There can be chests in the guild houses. Now with this idea I was kind of also thinking that you could make this a PvP zone too.. Hehe. Like Guilds Building their houses up in a non-guild friendly zone. This could be your Guild Vs. Guild Area. Except…. This is a every Guild for themselves sort of thing. I dont know… Maybe the Guild house vaults are reward items and every guild can steal from each guild’s vault if they manage to break in… but you can purchase MANY MANY MANY NPC defenders to defend your house and….. Well maybe this is crazy talk. If you like the idea you can do something with it… One thing I hope YOU (ANET) WILL DO… is… IMPROVE GUILDS. Give it more add-ons… Please? Also take away the multiple guilds thing… It’s rubbish. (No offense…) I mean not everyone stays loyal to thier guild and all they do is take up space. Please please pleeeassseeee…. improve guilds. and make sure you can only have 1 guild per account unless you leave the guild and join another… that… or you can only have 1 guild per character.

Anyone think that Anet should Fix Guilds?

I think that they thought that having the option of having multiple Guild was possibly a good idea but it really isn’t. By having the option of having Multiple Guilds you will see several members sitting in Guild Not Representing and Helping out the Guild. Then some Guild Leaders who want dedicated members will end up removing them.

1. My suggestion is to make Guilds Soulbound instead of Account Bound. And that Each character can only represent one Guild.

2. They should update Guilds. After this game is called “Guild Wars.” Maybe Anet can put up different “Paths” for Guilds. The guild can only pick one path and cannot head towards another path. By taking the path they chose the Guild gets many different bonuses they can use. (Some boosters or bonuses are passive and some have to be purchased with influence)

For example:

Support Path:
All Guild Members get a Passive 5-10% speed bonus.
Can summon Guild Guards to help defend their Keep, Camp, Tower, or Castle. The Keep’s Guards #s increase with Guild Guards. Several guards patrolling the outter keep, and many defending the inner.

Offense Path:
All Guild Members could get a Passive 5% more damage.

I don’t know I could keep going but these are some ideas I hope Anet can make and that some of you could agree with..

I just hope Anet comes out with an upgrade to Guilds and makes them better and make them soulbound or account bound to 1 guild.

Should I go with a little more armor and give up some vitality for about 40 regen (I think its every sec)? or should I go with solider runes keep my 3200 armor and 32k hp and curing conditions every shout? (also I use shouts)

Heres the thing..

I don’t currently have any ascended stuff on me but I do havr crafted accessories and i’m geared up.

all exotics on both toons. My guardian has around 17k hp. 3100 armor.
My Warrior has about 30,000 hp, 3000 armor.

I’m trying to figure out which of the 2 classes would be better of even in zergs with a greatsword.

By the looks of it Warrior seems to be way over guardian stats wise but guardian has a ton more boons they can use if they want and healing too so it’s a hard decision

^ True… But IMO Warriors are pretty kitten squishy… even with a PVT build.. QQ

Shouts to heal only heal about 1500-2000 hp. Passive adrenaline regen heals about… 400 every 3-5 seconds but you still take great amounts of damage in such little time with not enough heals to cover the health loss ;<

idk if I feel this way because on guardian you practically have protection up all the time? more passive healing on guardian? main heal can heal 60%+ of your health?

It’s prefered playstyle tbh, I wanna deal a ton of damage as a warrior :S My estimate is If I had a max crit damage build I’d be critting for 15-20k on a fotm veteran. If Power/vitality/toughness build I’d prolly be hitting 5-10k?

I’m still leveling my thief but i’d like to get an idea from people who have experience with these 2 classes. for both Zerging and 5 man.

Thief or Warrior?

If thief I was planning on going Shortbow for Zerging, Dagger Dagger for small man. Legendary main hand would be incinerator.

If warrior I was planning on using mainly Greatsword. I still can’t make up my mind if I would roll with pure Glass Cannon Crit Build or a Power/Vitality/Toughness Build…

I use elementalist but i’d like to give one of these 2 classes a shot.

What do you guys think? Should I use thief for WvW, or Warrior? I honestly think Elem is fun but meh I wanna try something different.

They have tons of survival skills. You can make your Healing Signet a 32 Sec Cooldown instead of 40. Heals a good 9-10k. Along with that you have your Virture of Resolve (Your Passive Regen ###/3 sec) You can get Dolyak Runes which means you can heal 300+ Every 3 seconds. Dolyak I believe is every second (40? maybe) You improve your Virtue of Resolve with The Virtue (20 Trait Points) Trait. This will also allow your Virtue of Resolve to Cure 3 conditions on use. Which takes out your need for a Condition Curing skill. (Helps even more if you get the Trait that cures a condition every 10 seconds. This does stack with your Healing signet. (Cure 2 conditions every 10 seconds so far) Get Tank stats and accessories. Vitality, Healing Power (Must have over 700) and toughness (You should have no prob hitting 3k toughness or more)

You have tons more skills including Aegis. Options for more healing skills. and A dodge that healsin 300+ per roll. When you crit you get vigor, vigor helps you roll more often. Healing more being tankier.

Guardian is by far the best Survival class in game, I believe Anet should improve their tankiness though and make them tougher. Maybe a trade off… Tougher but lil less damage.

They are “Guardians” after all…

I’ve spent hours trying to find a definitive answer, or at least enough information to think of one myself, but there’s too much beating around the bush.

I want to make a character that is still valuable in dungeons and WvW by the time I hit level 80, and is able to be built in multiple ways without sacrificing effectiveness overall, semi-dedicated support included (healing/boons, etc.). I’ve narrowed it down to Elementalist and Warrior. I’d somewhat prefer to do Elementalist, but I can’t find anyone willing to just lay out the problems the class may or may not have without just repeating that if you “learn to play better” then you’ll be “fine.”

I’m too limited on time to just play both, so I’d prefer to sink time into the right one. Will being an Elementalist shoehorn me into a single role that requires a disproportionate effort to contribute as much as a Warrior? Don’t sugarcoat it, please.

Thank you in advance.

I will give a summary of my thoughts and then my answer.

Elementalist:

Pro:
Excellent class. Great Range, AoEs, Damage, Support. Wonderful in Huge WvW Battles and Defending. Great For Dungeon Support. Healing, CC, Damage. Perfect for roaming.

Con:
Squishy. Not much single target damage. Other classes can still deal more dmg than elem.

Warrior:

Pro:
Takes more damage than elementalist. Deals way more damage than elementalist. You can be in the front lines killing things and be in the thick of battle instead of hiding back a bit. You can kill players in 5 seconds tops. AoE Rez, Shouts and Regen Depending on Build.

Con:
Most of their amazing damage is single target use (AoE If near). Bow seems so boring on Warrior. It’s more fun spreading out the damage if you can. Even as Heavy Armor Class they are still a tad bit squishy. Even a Power/Well Necro Build can top off a Warrior.

And my Final Answer:

Elementalist.

They have great range and support skills. Healing people and dealing AoE CC and Damage. Roll with a Staff. After my expereience in WvW Dagger Dagger is fun, but Staff is really the way to go. Dagger Dagger is more a pvp thing.

Please make the bard a group friendly class. I like the idea though.. Possibly the first MAJOR support class in Guild Wars 2?

Like make the bard unique… Possibly a musician that excels in support.

Maybe like a class that focuses on ACTUAL group healing and buffs. Constant Swiftness for Roaming and Movment speed for the group. Group Healing, Group Regeneration, Make it a Light Armor Class to Balance this. (Maybe Medium? Heavy could work… dunno) If you work into close combat melee with bard you can get hit hard but would be great on cc. It could be a CC/Group Support Class

Take note these are all my opinion.

1. Strengthen the Guardian, HP and Toughness wise. Reason behind this is because they are really the only true “tanking” class in this game. Warriors are the only other Heavy Armored class but let’s be honest… they’re better off with their burst quick 2-5 second kills. Guardians should be a tougher class to kill. They’re pretty squishy for thier class title.

2. Add new Armor ideas/merchants. We need new Armor/Weapon content. Things are starting to wear out. Everyone has nearly the same armor set or weapons.

3. Don’t take away things from classes that help make up that class.. For example… Ranger… It’s a class that isn’t even that profficient with the bow.. Longbow isn’t all that great, it could honestly be better. Why’s it called the Ranger when Range isn’t super effective with the class? AoEs are cool but not super awesome. Instead of nerfing, why not bump them up for WvW..? I mean You have Zergs battling it out. Offense is one thing that makes it fun.

4. Don’t nerf PvE zones. (Rather… Don’t Nerf the Classes in PvE Zones…. Only Improve.)

5. Add new skill/weapon effects or possibly even, NEW WEAPONS!… New AoE Effects, Spell effects. Weapon skills. or new skills. One thing that can attract players are the game effects. Add some sick looking AoE Spells or something.

6. Improve on lightning? Could it be possible to please polish the look? Even the glyph of elemental storms on elementalist (AIR) Looks pretty lame. Great idea, but the lightning doesn’t look too great. I’d definitely like to see more lightning spells, possibly make the meteor storm look more devastating? same stats just make it look more killer?

7. I know I am stealing this idea but i’ll give credit (Demon Runner.5739)

NEW CLASS:

The Bard.

My idea with this is make this a Group Friendly Class. A Musician who has practiced over long years to improve their skills and become proficient with a unique art of infusing magic into music through the instruments they play.

They can cast many support spells, Protection, Regeneration, Retaliation, Vigor, Stability, and more! Added to that they can channel a constant Swiftness buff that will be removed upon entering combat and must rechannel (maybe an 8 sec stand still cast) to rechannel. This way it brings groups together. And their skills can only be used within group or on themselves. They use musical instruments to their advantage. And for the first time in Guild Wars 2, they can be the First Ever, Healing Class. They could get a skill (Auto Attack possibly?) Where they can heal a fair amount (group heal) 1k heal per cast? 2.5 sec cast? but must be standing still to heal? Also added to their amazing support benefits they have a few CC skills such as Daze, Confusion, Fear, Immobilize, Sink, Float, And anything else? :P

Btw, you said there’s “no healers” Guardian can somewhat play that healing roll. Just have your group get some sort of healing power so that your healing skills can benefit them a little more. Healing Bow, Virtue of Resolve (Group can have passive healing effect and if u get the trait you can make it’s effect stronger and cure conditions if needed) Hold the line, and w/e other healing skills you want to add or skills u prefer

engineer is also good for heals, med kits, elixer gun.
elem has geyser, healing rain. not much but eh it can help.
warrior has regen banners or healing shouts.
necro has a well they can heal with.
thief can heal with stealth and they have a few other skills that can heal group too I belive.
ranger has healing spring and the elite healing pet.

one thing you can also do is purchase these healing trees that you can buy from a merchant, I forget where but they’re pretty nice and useful to have if u need extra heals.

I’ve recently started playing with some friends and we are planning on doing dungeons together.

I know that there is no healers and such in this game, but I would like to roll a profession that would be most helpful to them in terms of support and versatility (boons, etc).

So, I’m wondering which class has the best support overall?

Every class has amazing support. It depends on the situation.

Elem: AoEs, Healing, CC, Swiftness, Projectile Defender.
Guardian: CC, Healing, Protection, Retaliation, Condition Cure, Swiftness, Blind, Projectile Defender.
Warrior: Healing, Condition Cure, CC, Swiftness.
Engineer: CC, Healing, Protection, Condition Cure.
Necromancer: CC, Condition Cure, Healing, Blind.
Thief: Stealth, Blind, CC.
Mesmer: Haste/Quickness, Confusion, Rez, Projectile Defender, CC.
Ranger: CC, Healing, Protection?.

I’m sure all classes have more support skills that what’s listed. I’m just tossing out some off the top of my head.

Best Profession for WvW?

I played this game mainly for PvE at launch as an Ele. And anyone who has played an ele knows they just might be the worst profession in the game for PvE. So this time around I dont want to make the same mistake.

Im rerolling a new character and this time I want to try and level mostly by WvW. (since Iv done most of the PvE already). Is their one profession that stands out above the others in WvW?

To be honest with ya, all classes are great in WvW. They are all unique it just depends on how the player plays them. AoEs are one of the greatest things to have and the Elementalist can definitely cover that. Necro and Ranger are also great too. I love leading zergs and doing something I never see other commanders tell their zergs to do when defending, and that’s ranger/necro trapping the gate upon breach. (Reminds me of the Good ol’ RvR in DAOC). Warriors have the dps and bow AoEs which is nice. Guardians are good on healing support and projectile absorbing. Engineers good for cc and more! and from there I can keep on going and going. It all depends on your play style. But all classes can be helpful in WvW.

Honestly, I’m looking for the Looks. I think I can figure out the stats and all that later. I’m looking to deal decent-great dmg but also be able to stand up to mobs or players. So I can figure out what kind of runes, accessories and sigils I’ll need.

I just noticed this forum area and decided I’d ask here

So from what I hear if I use 2 Legendary Weapons (Ex: Bolt-Moot) on a Warrior I get to see both weapon effects? AWESOME!.. but here’s my problem.. I want to get 2 Legendary Weapons on ONE toon. I just can’t figure out which. Please no other suggestions as well.

1. Either Female Norn Warrior
Bolt/Moot

2. Or Male Norn Guardian
Moot/Flameseekers Prophecies

Which weapon set should I go with? I was thinking Sunrise on Guardian but I rarely see Moot and Bolt. So Maybe Moot instead.. But which out of the 2 options should I go with?

I’m not too happy with shield on warrior so thats a no. and As for Guardian Sword is little more useless than mace IMO for support.

Dealing Dmg and Surviving is my goal.

If you read this could you just comment and lemmie know which class/weapon set (I picked out) I should go with?

ANET devs talked in the chat/stream today (and in the recent past in blog posts) about nerfing Area of Effect abilities, which they see as a problem because there’s not a high enough opportunity cost to bring AoE, and it leads to weird things like players ignoring single target abilities even on single targets, choosing to use heavy AoE instead of stomping players in PvP, etc.

This doesn’t match my experience at all, except possibly in WvW. And I don’t see why any one should be able to safely rez a downed player in the midst of a massive zerg vs zerg, unless they take exceptional measures like popping invincibility and quickness, or having an “insta rez” utility equipped.

I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t really see this supposed problem at all. I see that the game has an incredibly large number of AoE abilities, and so they are basically unavoidable to use, but I don’t see people deferring on single target damage, because at the end of the day, 1v1 or killing bosses is really important to a lot of players, and even small damage advantages for single target abilities make them very attractive to use.

Am I alone on this? Are other people running into this problem of not feeling that single target abilities are not presenting a reasonable advantage in certain situations, and if so, can you provide some examples?

I think they skills set now were great as is. Anet is really tearing this game apart by doing these class nerfs. Guardians should be able to tank bosses imo they should honestly bump up defense on tanks so they can take tons more dmg (at least on guardians) They have good survival skills but can get dropped pretty quick for being “the best survival tanking class” in game… Also the AoEs aren’t all that great. Idk why players even complain about them… As for mistform I think it’s an essential skill/tool to have to be invulnerable while rezzing. Easy to pick up their leader so no chaos rises and they can regroup rerally and fight.

My problem with Bolt and Flameseeker Prophecies is that Bolt is kind of a useless weapon (IMO) on a Guardian. Shield is lame on warrior too (IMO)

I’m looking to deal good dmg, along with being able to survive. that’s also another problem i’m having.
