If you drag the halloween bag on top of one of the bags you want to exchange it for, the halloween bag will take its place and all of the stuff from the first bag will be in the halloween bag. I did it myself yesterday.

I think its funny that people think that because some people got something that means everyone (or a large percentage) got it. This event is a small percentage of the year. Don’t get so upset about it.

I agree that the event is huge and ambitious. I think they probably should have done less in order to avoid more bugs, but I appreciate the effort.

The only real complaints I have are:

1. I don’t like event content that is level-gated in any MMO. Some people say that they could do it at low level or that you should get people to help you. But if you play at an off hour, etc. it still might be an issue.

2. While nicer event loot shouldn’t necessarily be given away, I prefer when you can get items with a reasonable effort.

I agree with a lot of the OP. I was really looking forward to this event and to be fair, all the decorations are very nice to look at. I also really liked the Act 1 activities. However it soon became clear that what you could get from the event was mostly timed items like in most asian MMOs. Arenanet is based in WA but maybe it was originally an asian company? I really dislike timed items and I hope this isn’t indicative of a trend…

Anyway, I disagree with complaining about spending money in the store except for the opening of chests which I also thought would be a much better return. Luckily I waited until the reports came in about how bad your chance was of getting anything good and avoided that trap.

I guess for some reason fluff items are considered really valuable in this game. I enjoy costume items but not to the point that I’m going to spend that much money in the store. I guess I’m spoiled by the other MMO I play where events give real gear that is often the best in slot item for the level.

I think one thing is clear from all the comments: in general people who like PvP and platforming were happy with this event while people who are more PvE oriented were often frustrated, especially if they don’t have a high level character. I guess the question is whether ANet is happy with this polarization of their customer base…

Now I’m looking forward to how many people ignore my “in general” qualification.

These forums are very strange to me and I’m looking for several features.

-Post dates: I would like to know if forum threads are old or new but I can’t see a date…
-Threads marked if I posted in them
-The ability to “go to last page” without first entering the thread

I do like the Q/A feature, but I really miss the above features.

I heard from a guildmate of this issue and I agree that its silly not to allow any level of upgrade. The item assumes the level requirement of the upgrade – simple.

I agree with the OP, after Act 1 there is no point to playing if you have a lower level character. Considering that GW2 just started and not everyone is a zerger, I’m surprised that they presented an event that requires a higher level character ( or a more experienced / persistent player) to complete. I have been playing MMOs since EQ1 started but I am not hardcore. I logged in today with my 30 Ranger and found out that the rest of this event is not for me. A shame…

I completely agree with the OP. I also have played many MMOs where if there is holiday fluff it is not a super grind to get. The other MMO I currently play, DDO, even has really nice non-fluff festival items (some of which are best in slot for the level) that aren’t even as difficult a grind as the fluff items in this festival

For those saying “wait and see”: what are they going to add stuff or make existing stuff easier to get and piss off all the people who already paid/did the grind? That doesn’t sound like a very fair idea either…

I want to start by saying that so far the Halloween event has been very fun, imaginative and great to look at. However I agree with the OP that introducing people to the event was not done well. I didn’t know that the main part of the event would be in Lions Arch (haven’t played the game very long). And once I got the mail from the Investigator I knew to go to various locations to find clues, but since I haven’t played the game long I had no idea where those locations were. If you didn’t know to read a guide to find the specific locations, you could easily use up all your candy just randomly using the machine.

And though I talked to the Master Carver, I didn’t understand why after carving like 10 more pumpkins I would go back to him and he would say I only carved one. I thought he was broken and almost stopped carving. But I did it anyway when I came across a pumpkin and eventually got an update (like the daily updates) saying I had carved 25 pumpkins. After that he said I had carved “a few” lol. I guess he just doesn’t know how to count

Anyway, I do think that they systems for “explaining” the event could have been better. And I don’t understand the people who got so bent out of shape that someone DARED to criticize the event. He’s right, you really shouldn’t have to go outside the game, even to the forums, to figure out something inside the game.

Since I have a female ranger, I agree that most of the medium armor isn’t very interesting. But I disagree with having the silly skimpy outfits. Lets not be like all the asian MMOs please. I really don’t understand the attraction to female cartoon characters in skimpy outfits. I’d simply prefer better-looking outfits with more variety.
