It’s pretty clear you only read the main points and none of the explanations, as I mentioned to lack of WP’s in new areas being a forced necessity for the mounts.
So how about reading the whole thing before you reply next time?
Anet didn’t have to create mounts because PoF didn’t have enough WP! Anet could have created PoF with plenty of WP. Or they could have created PoF with a combination of the movement masteries we already had like the LS3 maps. But Anet chose to have mounts in PoF and made the maps with less WP because of mounts – not the other way around lol.
Read their post again. They’re talking about collections with HOPE being the one they’re specifically speaking about.
You’re not understanding the context behind my post and changing what I said to include more than what was intended.
We can keep arguing about the context as long as you want, and point each other for not understanding the purpose of this thead
I will provide you with the context, once again.
1 – The thread is called “Crafting the newer Legendaries”.
2 – The very first line in the thread is:
Is it just me or is the time sync to build one of these obscene? I don’t expect it to be easy but for us family folk dumping a few hundred hours for one item is a big ask.
Clearly the OP is talking about HoT legendaries, and how much time it takes to get one. NOT specifically just the collection aspect.
I don’t expect it to be easy but for us family folk dumping a few hundred hours for one item is a big ask.
I just started into Hope Tier 3 and looks like I have a few hundred hours to go.
Clearly he is talking about Tier 3.
This game has gone the way Anet stated that it never would when we first found out about the gem store, and that is “Pay2Win”.
Can you explain that abit nothing talked about in this thread make the game p2w.
In a game where Fashion Wars is at least as important as any other game mode, yes it is p2w.
Almost a sign of ArenaNet not valuing their own content.
It’s a sign of Anet not valuing their players’ time.
How can there still be threads about this…
Like idk what to do with my leather, I end up just putting it on the TP or giving it away to people crying that its so hard to acquire.
You might not craft with leather, that’s great for you. But we’re talking about the prices of T6 leather vs. other T6 mats which I guess you haven’t noticed.
You are right, I hadn’t noticed because I have more materials then I know what to do with because this game gives everything for minimal effort to the players.
I’m glad that you get so much for minimal effort, but I’m certain you have no idea how much effort it takes for all the players. In fact for me it is very difficult to get certain materials.
Doesnt bother me at all, frankly i wish players had a way to get some of the HoM rewards, because i barely see anybody using them anyways.
Isn’t GW1 still running?
Everyone should understand by now that Anet doesn’t really have exclusive content. If you farm really hard for something during an event, you are wasting your time. It will be available later – usually much easier to get. So don’t bother during the events.
The only people that should bother are those who enjoy getting something FIRST. Of course no one will remember that you had it first once many people get them easier later. But if you enjoy that kind of thing, just remember that everyone will be able to get it easier later.
With the imbalance between the T5 and T6 materials I have decided to not bother crafting exotic armour. I believe that the real solution is to balance the required number of scraps and sections, 2 cloth scraps and 2 leather sections for all tiers.
Restore balance that way first then changes to drops/salvage rates can be adjusted and sinks can be introduced as required.
Similarly they need to balance the recipes better. As it is you need 8 cloth scraps and 30 leather sections for a Gossamer insignia. That imbalance is part of the reason why Gossamer is dirt cheap and leather so expensive.
Then, after undoing the harm their changes did, they should “lock” down the recipes and not fiddle with them anymore.
I agree – fix the mistake they made and get rid of the stupid “leather farm”.
How can there still be threads about this…

Not all materials should take the same amount of time to be gathered.
Why shouldn’t all T6 materials have similar rarity and time to gather? If not why are they all the same level?
Most answers to suggestions here seems to be about “development time” I get that A-Net have previously explained that it takes time to build a feature into a game, but it seems like any idea, small once and big once, always turn to the familiar “I like the idea, but development time might be to long” answer.
The GW2 development team has limited employees, who have limited work hours and limited budget. So of course they can’t do every nice idea that comes up and have to prioritize. Those ideas that will take a lot of development time to implement for not a lot of result are not going to happen unless a developer makes it a pet project to do on their own time.
So yes, there is such a thing as not having enough time.
Come on, let us choose our own launcher images. The new purple raptor rider graphic is awful. It looks like it has a color palette of about 8 colors, maximum.
I guess they should have ran it by you first to get your approval, eh? Then when someone disagreed with your choice, what would you tell them?
Yep, purple is one of my favorite colors
Its not ugly, but the color is kind of to strong. The previous dark green was calming.
Not like you have to look at it for a long time…
Just do a small amount of your collection each day in addition to your normal play and you will get there before you know it.
If I did an hour a day, every day and didn’t miss a day… I am guessing it would be 2019 before I got it. Seems strange the new legendaries have the money sink of the old ones (around 3k to craft) and a massive time sink. I can buy an older legendary for a what a new one costs to craft right out of the TP and not spend months cobbling together the parts.
Seems very excessive for one item that not every character can use. I cannot imagine what completionists do.
The HoT Legendaries are definitely excessive. I’m making Chuka & Champawat and I wish I had researched it in-depth before I started. I am at the end and need 250 Amalgamated gemstones and I already spent so much $ it just makes me sick. So if I didn’t want to spend all the $, I really should have been getting 250 HoT meta chests this whole time only I didn’t realize it.
I completely agree with the OP: I don’t understand why the HoT Legendaries cost more $ than the core Legendaries AND so much time on top of that. Doesn’t make any sense to me.
I think you can mouse over the map completion UI and the ones not done will flash.
It’s still a bad design, of course, if you can’t tell by just looking.
Played since launch, never knew this. Now I use it all the time.
I also played for at least a couple years before I found this out. Would be nice if GW2 had some hints or something.
I don’t really understand the OP’s complaint. The original launcher was only black with a bit of red, the HoT launcher was only a few shades of green. This is the style of GW2 launchers. Looks perfectly fine to me.

Sorry but they are not macros. They are bindings….bind (Button1) to use skill1.
A macro is Button1 does 2 or more actions.
Apologies for being so pedantic but this matter really bugs me….the same way that electricians hate the word “bulb” when it comes to lighting.
I agree – assigning a single action to a single key = key binding. And that is not a macro by any definition.
So daily login rewards started Dec. 14th, 2014. And in that time we have currently received approximately 136 Chests of Black Lion Goods. And not once have I ever obtained a Black Lion Key from them. I’ve gotten every single other item multiple times except a key. Something is super fishy here. I’m not complaining about getting free rewards just for logging in. It’s the principle of the thing. It’s clearly tailored to be a very rare drop. IMO there should be an even chance among all the items. To see a list of what the chest can contain you can go to the wiki page if anyone is interested in that.
For the past 2 years I have been logging in 6/7 days per week and I have never received a key. Can anyone say for certain that they received a key from one of these chests?
Clearly there’s an ongoing supply and demand issue with hardened leather. I don’t understand why this hasn’t been properly addressed, even with the addition of the farm in Lake Doric. Are we going to see additional tweaks to drop rates, like everyone asked for months ago?
Yea, Idk what the problem is but I’m pretty sick of it.
The aura is the reason I am NOT making it. I don’t want an aura ( I can buy those from the TP), I want an ascended equivalent accessory I can change stats on when needed. Why would I make a single accessory that costs as much as an entire set of legendary armor just for the aura? I wouldn’t.
You should be able to toggle off the aura.
Got my new desert-ready look! I’m all set!
Very cute.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scrap_of_Maguuma_Mastery
It’s xp not actual mastery points
Only XP if you’re actually getting XP – which I’m not…
The worst part of course is knowing this;
“You aren’t supposed to camp Beastmode. Use the 3 skills and get out.”
Why the kitten do we even need Beastmode then? Just put the 3 skills on our bar and be done with it if it’s so mechanically useless outside of that.Make it worth being in, or don’t include it at all.
This. If you only use it for a brief period at a time, is it really Beast “mode”? Imagine someone asking: “what is your mode of transportation?” and you say “car” but what you do is drive for 200ft and then run for a mile…
Duelling is fine, but it belongs in pvp modes. It always brings a level of toxicity to games in pve even with an opt out. Open world should eremain a cooperative environment. Anet are generally pretty good at keeping modes separate and I can’t see them ever recoding open world space to be pvp compatible when the appropriate spaces exist
I generally agree with this statement. However, I prefer that Anet spend resources on other content like Stories, Maps, Armor, etc. I would not vote for the creation of dueling even in a PvP environment.
Really? …Ok rangers, here’s beast mode, but don’t stay in beast mode!
Beast mode is just a new mechanic. You are like saying necro get reaper shrouds and they must stay in it forever? Or revenant permanently sticking to glint?
No. You burst, and exit the mode. The devs even explained the cooldowns on beastmode skills are not shared with the pet’s personal cooldowns.
Shroud isn’t their new mechanic, it’s their old one, their new mechanic is the sand shades and you absolutely should have as many out as you can 100% of the time.
It doesn’t matter if Shroud isn’t the new mechanic – not all of the new Elites have to work the same way. If Soulbeast is supposed to be entered and then exited like Shroud, that’s fine. It doesn’t seem that many people on the forums “got” that fact though, and I’m not sure from what I’ve read that Soulbeast is still that good even if you use it as intended vs. other Elites which many people seemed to understand right off the bat and raved about right away.
Perhaps players didn’t see the similarity because Shroud naturally ends automatically while it seems that a character can stay in Soulbeast indefinitely.

I think it’s a fine solution for a guild creator to be able to create an “exclusive” guild where the members are not able to join other guilds. There should be a very obvious automatic, notification in multiple places: when you join, in the guild panel, & in the guild notes. And a guild should have to be that way from the beginning – no changing the guild after the fact because a lot of people might have contributed to the guild who don’t agree with it going exclusive.
That being said, Anet might not want to do it simply because it could be a point of contention that they don’t want to deal with. Which I would also understand.
I have to say that while I feel the OP’s pain (and am a huge Tigger fan), I’m kindof impressed that the name filter caught that.
Are you serious? Soulbeast is a good class. People don’t know how to play the new specs and that’s why people say that they suck. You need alot of practice. No one could play the tempest on day one.
So Soulbeast needs a lot of practice for players to see that it’s good but Holosmith and Deadeye (only mentioning two brought up in this thread) don’t need a lot of practice for people to rave about them? Still doesn’t sound very good.
No thank you, I don’t need louder armor sounds to add to all of the noise pollution we already have.
I honestly just do not get it, why are people so afraid of Dueling everywhere? What is so scary about it?
Your attempts to bait people by repeatedly talking about “afraid” and “scary” are hilarious. No one who has answered this thread has said “cause I’m scared”. Most people have given logical reasons why they don’t think its a good idea.
But if “why you so scared” is the best argument you have…
I agree that the game does a TERRIBLE job of indicating “what to do next”. Very cryptic. In general you will encounter this over and over: the only way to easily figure out what to do in complex situations is to reference outside sources. Most developers don’t create their game so that to figure out the game you have to LEAVE the game…
There are already enough MMOs in the market where Hand Hold is ridiculously over the top.
This is nothing more than a convenience.
Real life doesn’t point you in the right direction.
There is a huge difference between handholding and being smart enough to show a player what he needs to do IN GAME when his XP bar suddenly stops. Most game designers want the player IN the game, not spending their time outside the game trying to figure it out.
Oh come on Djinn.
Oh come on Rhanoa, did you read the OP? He was doing his personal story when his XP bar stopped. He didn’t go from core to HoT (which is part of GW2 btw). Please read the OP.

Uhh, like literally everything in this game progresses you, you don’t have to get a guide to do anything when you cap just do something. Like that was the entire point of this game being made.
Geez…seems like you want anet to literally tell you want to do.
If you actually READ the OP:
at level 80, where my experience bar freezes
…
there is some flashing message to tell me I need to go somewhere to start mastery’s – but I am in the middle of the level 80 personal story.
…
Because I am not getting any experience in exchange for my in-game time – I start to hate the game.
Nothing in-game shows a clear path forward from this problem.
…
… persistent flashing message bottom left – but it is just telling me about mastery’s.
More googling – and I eventually find I have to change the story-line I am on – which now gives me a compass to a destination.
This destination required me to travel across multiple maps – where I am loosing all the exp from WP’s and encounters (remember my exp bar is frozen)..
Then I get to the destination… and the game shuts down – and has to download content. I have limited bandwidth – so I usually schedule updates/downloads for when I am sleeping – but no.. I have to invest more of my precious minutes of real-life to watch a progress bar…
NO dueling in PvE!
So after months of restarting characters to find the build that I most enjoy – I set out and achieve level 80 – I think it took me about 100 hours.
I was comfortable with the progression format that you are rewarded for your in-game time with advancement in the form of experience (to be spent on skills) and lewts to buy shinny new gear.
Imagine my horror – when this format suddenly appears to change at level 80, where my experience bar freezes (because I have reach max exp at level 80), meaning all forward progress no longer rewards me with experience – there is some flashing message to tell me I need to go somewhere to start mastery’s – but I am in the middle of the level 80 personal story.
Because I am not getting any experience in exchange for my in-game time – I start to hate the game.
Nothing in-game shows a clear path forward from this problem.
So – I googled – finding lots of other people have experienced this disconnect – and all you have to do is start the HoT expansion (I had already paid for) by going to a specific destination.
In-game to be fair there has been this persistent flashing message bottom left – but it is just telling me about mastery’s.
More googling – and I eventually find I have to change the story-line I am on – which now gives me a compass to a destination.

I could of made a clearer presentation and summary of all the points – but I don’t think I will – I will leave this post in the same condition I found the in-game transition from level 80 to Mastery’s —> time wasting and confusing.

Soulbeast sounds very disappointing. It sounds like the only way it can be decent is if you use exactly the right progression in exactly the correct way. So really a PvP Spec. I guess I’ll be sticking with my non-Elite Ranger build again.
Saves me from a lot of HP collecting on this character anyway.
Last I looked before I left, less then 20% of the player base even tried to do raids, They claimed it was as it attracted 20% of the players, as opposed to the typical 3 – 5 % among other games.
Where is that 20% coming from?
Yea, I don’t believe it’s even 20%. I’m in 2 major guilds that don’t even have 1 raid team in either.
I may be wrong but. Way points has been less and less since silverwastes and has nothing to do with us having access to mounts.
You’re right, it has to do with all the other travel masteries.
(edited by Djinn.9245)
What do they click? The ‘interact’ option that appears on the screen whether the item/NPC can be seen or not. I click it more often than not. It still shows up, whether you can see the Banker in DR, or Royal Terrace, or wherever. I think most players use the description/title floating above to locate something, rather than trying to determine if the face of that NPC indicates Merchant or just random NPC.
I’m sure you’re right – I’m probably the only one who will have a problem.
Again, nothing obscures those floating descriptors/titles. You can have complaints about Mounts, but not about things, such as not being able to interact with something, that aren’t affected.
Yes Sir, I’m not allowed to have complaints. Got it.
If Mounts were interactable, like Boxes of Fun, or such, and could get in the way of other interacts, I’d agree…but they aren’t.
Here’s a funny thread from a couple of years ago: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Gliders-just-a-worse-version-of-flying-mount/first#post4775975
You obviously aren’t bothered either by the many gliders that have large and intrusive visuals. I’m sure I am alone on this one also.
You must be completely correct. However I will maintain my own opinion if that is OK with you.
How do Mounts get in the way of things one wants/needs to interact with? They aren’t interactable (so they can’t deter from an established interact item); we have interact keys, so we don’t need to see or even be that close to interactable content.
Fortunately, this isn’t ‘other games’.
I’m sorry that you can’t see the potential issues right now, but I’m certain that you will once the expansion comes out.
How about an example, then? Because my interact key works whether there are 20 large Norn in the biggest Wings around, or no one or nothing near what I’m trying to interact with.
I misspoke – what I meant to say is that you will read about the issues people have on the forums. Not everyone uses their interact key – a large percentage of people click. There is also the simple visual impediment which will affect people who look at the NPC images on their main screen to locate them as opposed to the symbols on the minimap. Etc. I’m certain that you are correct and mounts won’t effect you in any way. They will however effect me and at least some other people.
This is such a bunch of nonsense. Where has the OP been clear about his definition of casual?
In several posts, including just before your post here.
He took his own advice and left, but he never got over it and he’s back to argue the merits of it. Has ANet remembered the casuals? Yes. But that doesn’t mean the OP is going to get what he wants.
If you actually read the OP’s posts, he’s back because of PoF and wants to determine whether Anet has changed direction any from HoT. It’s actually pretty clear.
Well I thought it was pretty clear. which is making me wonder why it is acceptable to say things like “Learn to Play” or “git gud” when a player is struggling, but when people can’t seem to follow a simple point on a forum post, saying “learn to Read” is considered insulting and wrong?
Yep, and no one even said that. They only made a general comment not directed at any specific person. Interesting, huh?
There are a lot of good arguments for and against.
I’m still waiting to hear the first “good argument” for this.
The only arguments that some might call “good” for this are actually arguments for saving bag space. This specific system is not necessary to save bag space so those arguments don’t mean anything.
I can give you two scenarios that mounts are always helpful. Farming nodes and map exploration. In both you’re not really Waypointing around and the mount will increase efficiency. So they have a place for people who do both.
We already had movement speed increase and gliding. In core that was fine for me. In HoT we also had HoT movement masteries. In PoF we didn’t need yet more movement gimmicks, we already had enough.
You know what could’ve been a better feature than mounts?
A build template system so we can swap builds and gear faster.
Or gvg
But…ya know…mounts
THIS!
And more armor sets!
How do Mounts get in the way of things one wants/needs to interact with? They aren’t interactable (so they can’t deter from an established interact item); we have interact keys, so we don’t need to see or even be that close to interactable content.

It’s about giving players options on how they like to move around.
Which seems logical for a game that’s meant to be played by hundreds of thousands of players that not all share the same views.
There is no better or worse way of transportation in a video game.
Everything from instant teleportation to flying mounts is valid and has it’s own advantages, and in the end it’s all about what each player finds more enjoyable than anything else.
The difference is that mounts add clutter to the landscape and can get in the way of things you are trying to interact with. We have seen this time and again in other games.
Did I miss it, or is Anet not making any comments about this concern? I feel like their silence is just adding fuel to the fire and may ultimately reduce sales while folks like me wait to see what the end results are before deciding whether or not to buy.
No, I have not heard of any comment by Anet about Unidentified Gear. I don’t expect them to give us numbers, but I think it would be good if they gave some kind of general idea of what Unidentified Gear replaced so we had a better idea of the PoF reward situation.
This is such a bunch of nonsense. Where has the OP been clear about his definition of casual?

To answer the original question: Yes, ANet has remembered the casuals.
I didn’t see any evidence of this with HoT. The LS3 maps were more friendly, but those were already in production when HoT came out so are not necessarily in response to the problems people had with HoT. I will wait to see what PoF is like before coming to any conclusions about whether Anet still cares about all the casual players that made GW2 a success at launch.
