Skye Eterna ~ Mesmer | Arya Slade ~ Charrdian | Kiera Thine ~ Ranger
Oceanic ~ [LOD] [Noob]
Greatsword. Everything into power/precision/crit damage. endure the pain, frenzy, bulls charge, use hundred blades. Enemy dead.
This doesn’t even seem like a fair comparison. Mace wins hands down for tanking, combo with a shield and you’ve got 3 interrupts and 2 blocks. Even against bosses you cut through stacks of defiant and interrupt their more brutal attacks.
I use rune of the dolyak on my warrior. Mainly because I only use two shouts, one being shrug it off…. And the other For Great Justice. Most conditions IMO are short and not really that harmful anyway, doesn’t seem worth it to give up some extra passive health regen.
Banner range seems pretty good already to be honest. It says 600 but I think that’s just the drop range, cause I’ve ventured pretty far away during boss battles and still kept the buff (allowing for that delay too.)
To be honest I think that if a banner that buffed and healed allies, as well as debuffing enemies, would be rather overpowered. Perhaps a choice in traits that decided whether it debuffed enemies or buffed allies?
Also, I adore the healing on each banner, even with zero points put into healing power they double my passive health regen to 500 health per second. I would say the healing effect should stack, but again… That would be rather overpowered, imagine dropping 4 banners providing almost 1000 health regen per second to each ally CONSTANTLY. So yea, I think they’re pretty good the way they are, however a shiny glittery AoE would be nice :P
I’ve found that it only interrupts when the stacks of defiant are gone, despite displaying the “interrupt” message. However as you’ve said fear still gets them and another one where the boss looks like its been hit in the face by the hammer of Thor. No idea which profession does it, but it faceplants the ground for a good 2-3 seconds with defiant up.
Both are capable of either running support or dealing big damage, good thing with guild wars is you’re not restricted to one play style with each class. So err… Whichever…
It’s not the class, it’s how you use it.
I’ve recently started playing as an Ele, and am curious about how people have built there’s as there seems to be many paths to go down. I was thinking maybe healing power, condition damage, and power. Using the restorative sigil with boosted healing for constant health, and burning everything with fire with sceptre/dagger. Thoughts?
That pretty much summed it up. You get a message each time you unlock another dungeon (by reaching certain levels) which shows you exactly where they are. For your first dungeon experience I advise against going with a group of 80’s. As they tend to skip through everything = not fun. Oh and there’s a huge step up from story mode to explore mode (explore is 5 levels higher for requirement and the challenges are a LOT harder)
Go to achievements, pretty sure it’s a tab under Hero
Where can I find the best aqua breather? I’ve just realised that I’m still using the starter one. I’m specifically looking for one with power, vit and tough, but anything close will do.
Elementalists can get perma-switftness in multiple ways, and they also fit the ranged requirement. They can focus more on sustained damage than burst, if you build them correctly.
Alternatively, believe it or not, warriors can be insanely mobile, although this mobility comes from melee weapons instead of ranged ones. (The ranged ones pretty much root you constantly.) If mobility is your thing and you dislike thief, I’d definitely give warrior a try.
This. And half the skills make you vault around the battlefield like a friggin gymnast.
low survivability on a warrior? You must be doing something wrong.
Probably yes
If you put everything into DPS you have the potential to be more fragile than say an Elementalist. Vit and Tough are your friend! You’re pretty useless to your team if you’re dead.
The stats on both main hand and offhand are combined, you’ll find 2 handed weapons offer twice as much as a one handed. Don’t ask me about the damage stat cause I honestly don’t know, maybe they get the average between the main and offhand? I dunno lol.
Looks like an exotic one from Arah merchant. Or some Halloween reward… My best guesses
I have over 100,000 karma, I don’t even know. I use it to buy cooking stuff but that’s about it.
Wow, the OP is obviously just a troll and has abandoned the thread since long.
- Kohler is not hard and never was.
- Groups dont skip him because he is hard (see point 1).
- Groups skip him because he gives kitten rewards. Can we just let this thread die please?
I’m glad your opinion on skipping Kholer is shared across every Guild Wars player ever. Thanks for clearing that up. So how is it that a group of lvl 80’s who always skip him ended up wiped? Please enlighten me oh wise one.
I’m on Kaineng and never had problems.
Kholer literally takes like 5min to kill if you’re bad. That time alone is made up by the waypoint you unlock, except for Tzark’s path.
That Way Point is only helpful to players who then die in the next phase, which is very unlikely considering it’s the easiest stretch of both routes before another Waypoint is unlocked anyway further up ahead. So, If you’re not dead during those 5 or so minutes it takes to reach the next phase, then how is the WP useful?
What? That next event is the hardest one in the dungeon, you crazy.
I ask PUGs as soon as I join if they fight or not, a group 80’s tend not to, and are generally pretentious kittens in that case, I just leave then and there.
Oh by the way what does that PUG stand for? Saw it couple of times on the post but didn’t quite figure it out.
Hahaha I 100% did not google it today to figure it out. It means Pick Up Group, random group you find on map chat.
I run with power, vit and tough, usually a mace and shield with healing banners. Well someone’s gotta revive the glass canons who get nicked by ONE AoE attack <__< actually who am I kidding, if they’re stupid enough to die when the boss is going for me, they’re on their own.
Caudecus’s Manor. Story and explore. I hate everything about it, it isn’t too bad once you get the hang of it but getting repetitively punted across the map pisses me off real quick. Like in story mode with the enormous hoard of weak enemies, each capable of drop kicking you. I was like a kitten tennis ball, no, screw that, never ever again, I have no desire to ever revisit that dungeon, EVER.
Lies. If your party is capable is starting it, you can run in with them, unless they’ve patched that recently.
I personally like to kill him. I don’t really see his loot bad you can make some money out of it and for me it is just part of the experience to have my bag full of stuff. So I don’t get the fuss of “crappy loot” and “trash mobs” having too much hp but hey that is just my personality speaking.
I never have had problems with kholer pulling me during dodge… I bet you were doding backwards or forward for that to happen but I can be wrong.

WP’s are for dead people
Waypoints are for teleporting closer to the next event, walking is really not my thing.
Do you seriously think we’re skipping Kholer because we can’t kill him?
I think what you will find is that a whole group of people can’t beat Kholer because they have never fought Kholer. I.e. every Ascalon Catacombs dungeon group they have ever been to skipped Kholer. So if they are suddenly forced to fight Kholer, they simply do not know what to do in that encounter.
I can think of at least two other dungeons where I fear that a large portion of the population do not know how to not skip certain encounters.
Bullseye. This leads to ‘Elitist Noobs’. The most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen is to watch a bunch of self proclaimed “pros” crash and burn against an easy boss.

That would ruin my mind trying to get used to that. I think I’ll stick with being unable to strafe left when my character gets bored of attacking.
Same with having two sigils that give you +something on kill, only one works. Never field tested it, but I’ve heard the main hand one is priority, sounds legit.
Not sure what it looks like in medium, but vigil armour is pretty sexy with black and gold.
Gonna go ahead and comment without reading the others first.
Dungeons. Just dungeons. I too quickly get bored of explore and usually only have the path to the dungeon explored. Crafting is a good way to level up, but it’s only worth bothering with jeweller, maybe cooking if you’re getting desperate. Exploring is pretty much solo play, occasionally seeing another person with minimal to no interaction, but dungeons are completely different. I know you said you weren’t level 30 yet but as soon as you can, do dungeons! (Technically you can do it whenever so long as you’re in a party capable of starting it, but it’d be pretty hard). Also your level will skyrocket once you get into them, I don’t know what happened from level 60-80 haha.
Here’s an idea, do the hearts, find the POI’s/waypoints/vistas, progress in the main story line. You know, that thing that everyone who isn’t kitten does? Seriously who starts off a game by grinding? Please go back to WoW. If you need help in the starter area, you deserve every flame you get. Jesus Christ you’re an idiot.
You may think you and your pack of lvl 80’s are pretty pro by shuffling around the edges of his platform, but please understand that it makes you look like a complete amateur. Seriously, I’ve fought him with a group of lvl 50’s and no one was downed, convinced a bunch of 80’s with an ego that could barely fit in the dungeon and they ALL died. Seemingly incapable of a single well timed dodge once every 30 seconds. If you’re not capable of fighting the bosses that the dungeon can throw at you, then please, just don’t even try.
/end rant
…. Well said. However, I have never ever changed my build to get past a difficult dungeon. Tactic sure, but the idea of having to mould your character for each situation is stupid (and unnecessary, as I said I’ve never bothered)
The boss is going for the people capable of dealing more damage as they summon allies to aid them, how truly unfair of alpha. Grow up.
I just started playing as an elementalist and already hate it. Try a heavy armour class that can actually take a hit. I quickly grow tired of the game if I die too often, which only seems to happen as my ele
