Ah! There are several different names for back pieces that don’t have visible parts. Spineguard is one, Brace is another. You can search the TP for those keywords. They do start around level 35, I think? Braces drop in dungeons, like the Forest Brace from TA.

Interestingly, a guildie of mine had to leave about ten minutes before the fireworks. That was at 3 pm or so my time. Now it’s nearly 1 am and she’s still in my group, marked Away, and if I want to get to LA Main I can join her there. However, she remains a silhouette in party portraits and isn’t visible at her dot’s location.

I figure the game isn’t booting her until she clicks the reward chest. I thought she’d be back way sooner than this and have pinged her to try to get her to come in and click it so she doesn’t lose her helmets.

JustTrogdor, you couldn’t use it with a statted spineguard or other back item? It has to go on something that already has an appearance?

To derail this: The moas aren’t leaving. It’s a permanent part of the game now.

Constant thundering moas will change the RP flavor of that location, to be sure.

It’s not zones. Fireworks are at dawn local game time. No, there’s no timer. Night is 40 minutes long so if you arrive at night in an overflow or main, stay there, dawn will come. Thereafter it will be every 2 hours on that server but each overflow is different.

I got it today, I just ran up to the iron grill and it popped. It’s called Dead End.

I am sure it works like the jade weapon skin. Put the stats item in your inventory along with the skin. Double click the skin. It gives you a popup window. Click on the skin for the looks, and the stat item stats (and upgrade if any) for the rest of it, then confirm by clicking the transmute button.

Make VERY SURE you have selected the skin appearance and not the other item. Triple check it. You do NOT want to accidentally transmute and keep the base item looks.

I did a /sleep and zoomed in so the only part of me I saw was my knee (was on a male human).

I think when they make an interesting set of skins, it should be relatively easy to get one of them, and take more effort (or, sigh, luck) to get more. One might still have to agonize over which one to get, but at least feel they got something from the event.

I have no issue at all with every single person having the cool looking thing I have. It has boggled my mind in every MMO that people kvetch about someone else having their neat thing. It’s all in how you use it, hey? Then again I don’t covet my neighbor’s goods RL or get upset when they have a nice thing that I don’t.

So let everyone have a good solid chance at the fun items, and make it rarer to get piles of them.

I was certainly hoping the Rich Coffers would guarantee tickets, and if they had I’d have paid more per coffer without complaint.

If RNG is going to govern so many items, there should be vastly more items one can simply buy with gems. Countess Anise’s top springs to mind … and all the other wonderful NPC clothings.

If you do your personal story you will get the exalted skin somewhere in the 70’s. I got the coat and leggings that way.

I found Tailor 400 fairly easy once I got past the Cotton tier. OMG that cotton. All the other cloth mats came because I level a lot of alts. But it still seems cheaper to just buy a finished crafted item off the TP than to put all my own mats into it, once you get into high tier mats and ectos.

If you don’t even have 50 silver, no, it’s not worth it. The odds aren’t stacked against you but there’s a solid chance you’ll lose your 50 silver. Over time you can do reasonably well but you need a gold stake to make it feasible.

The racing is a permanent addition to the game. Eventually you’ll have the money to spare to try out the racing. The only reason to push it now is if you have a serious personal drive to get every achieve there is in the game. You can do the meta achieve for the Bash event without touching the moas.

In an astounding change from my usual RNG, I got a ticket when I opened 40 rich coffers. I may be seeing patterns that aren’t there, but I swapped to a low level alt for the last 10 chests and it was in those. I usually get more dyes, bonus items from dailies, and so forth, if I am on an alt less than level 40 or 50 or so. I’ve made a point of opening black lion chests on lowbies. It really does seem to work.

It has been a tad annoying to have people pop the holo’s even as others were running up, then 100 blades things down. I’ve been using Dagger Storm but only when people are gathered and have a chance to drop their aoe’s, as otherwise I end up getting maybe 1 candy. I still do wait a bit to see if anyone else is coming before I trigger.

Yet I’ve noticed that I get more coffers and candy when I am the one that triggered the holo and when it’s me and maybe one other person. Get a group in there and the rewards drop notably. As the OP said, that’s counter to this game’s philosophy.

I would be much happier to know that others running up will get as much as I do, so I can let loose.

Alas, it’s over an hour past the estimated time. I really do want to buy gems, I just couldn’t last night due to Tuesdays being my non-computer night

Lots of women in my guild, and in fact of the officers only the GM is a man. We roleplay on Tarnished Coast, going for an adventure flair.

That sounds somewhat like the Winter sPvP, where you chose a weapon and got a skillset based on it. Though you’re suggesting more focus on costume switches than on choosing a team role. Hmm …

I checked the Sylvari Tier 2 cultural by putting it in my preview window. Then I opened the TP and did a dye search, clicking through them. As long as you don’t Clear Preview, but simply clear the individual dyes, you keep the armor skin on while you search dyes.

While I’m not good at theory, one rule of thumb I use is to mouse over my weapon skills on the weapons I use most. If they don’t have any damaging conditions listed, then condition damage is a wasted stat for me. I think. I could be way off base with that. But if I have a lot of bleed, burn, and poison type effects, then I want those to hurt the enemy and I go for gear that bumps it up.

I am sad that so much cloth gear is filled with condition damage when my Mesmer has no damaging conditions that I can see.

As to them playing a big role, they actually do. Not necessarily damage wise (though when my necro flings a signet inflicting all the conditions on a foe I watch the health bar melt under subsequent attacks), but in control and in mitigating what the opponent can do to you. Toss a Blind when they rev up a big attack, they will miss you. Apply Vulnerability and you and your friends will get past the armor to mangle them faster. And so forth.

Boons likewise can be crucial. Stability so Lt. Kohler in AC can’t yoink you to his feet to kill you or a gust of wind can’t fling you off a jumping puzzle. Aegis so attacks are blocked. Regeneration to get some health back, helping you hold on just long enough to win. It’s well worth your time to learn the icons and effects of all of these so you can generate the right ones at the right times.

There are a number of benefits, though none so crucial as to make it vital to have.

- You’d like to know who in a guild is on-line and you yourself are not a member. Maybe to find the GM to praise or complain about a member.

- You know a few letters of the name of a friend but can’t remember all of it or his/her 4 number suffix.

- You are considering going to a zone where something big happens and you want to find someone in that zone to ask if it’s happening.

Etc. Obviously there are misuses as well. I don’t actually miss the feature in GW2, but then I have the guild panel to see who in my guilds is around and the friends panel for a side-list of those that might not share a guild with me. My main guild is active enough to give me plenty of social time

Again, do a test on a jug or two to see if you get over 4500 karma from it with boosts on. If not, don’t chug masses of them until the bug is fixed! (or until it’s verified a relog with boosts on makes them kick in).

Also note the gathering candy approach. If the wings don’t drop you can just hoard up enough candy to buy them outright, or so I read it. Typically the event currency drops like that have been all over the world, including starter areas.

As Shar said. Anything in an invisible bag won’t show up for sale to vendors and won’t go to the bank. They tend to cost more than the plain equivalent for the size, though. Thus my main character doesn’t have an invisible bag because I just don’t need it enough to pay for an 18 slot one.

Just yesterday I found an underwater chapel sort of thing. It’s north of the Benthic Kelp Beds in Mount Maelstrom in the ruins by the Quaggans. There is a little stone arch, a short passageway, and a round chamber roofed by kelp. I wasn’t in it long but it seemed aggro free.

I tend to call that place in the Grove “the grotto.” My Sylvari goes there to be near the Mother’s roots.

Given that the source of the buff is a Settler Negotiator, and that lore-wise the settlers are now free of their contracts and we aren’t going to see the settler/Consortium conflict, I’m pretty sure the buff will vanish as will the upscaling to 80.

Were you just getting it this past hour or two? We tried a guild run in AC explorable and suffered constant lag spikes and dc’s on Kohler, even those of us used to a rock solid connection and great latency. It slowed us enough that while we did end up killing him, we ran out of time to go on. So it might not just be Southsun.

Vayne, I have used piles of boosters, banners, guild buffs, bonfires — it’s lovely! But right now even with those active you don’t get any bonus karma. Waxworm, thanks, I will give that a try. And if I end up with only base amounts, oh well, I can afford it. It just feels wasteful. (thanks for the thread link — note that my post of 2 days ago is still the last one in it -grins- )

That absolutely is it, you have to put your target (or mouse cursor if you have fast cast) on top of the mine. You’ll turn it green every time, then you just need him to step on it while it’s green.

Vayne, have they fixed the buff bug on karma? I drank 2 jugs last night to test it, with a guild banner boost on, and only got the base amount. I have got a gigantic liquid karma stockpile and I want to get my mesmer her temple exotics, but I’m holding off until the boosts work again because I don’t want to waste the karma.

Agreed. It sounds like a simple fix to really improve quality of life.

Once one learns the codes this would be great. There needs to be something for people that can’t memorize letter strings after one viewing, though. So a mouse menu that brings up the various possibilities would help.

Fallen Earth had the most different emotes of any MMO I’ve played, and did it by category (for instance, clicking on Dance would open another window full of all the different dances. They had the Charleston. I loved them for that). But having to mouse navigate through all the windows was time consuming indeed; thus, getting some strings of letters down might be helpful as one learns the choices. LotRO unfortunately didn’t separate by type, so you got a giant list every time.

My Guardian does excellently at healing/support. Horribly at dps. She’s still my go-to for dungeons. I have her built for defense and boon support, and the healing elite is wonderful (every 3 minutes, given a few seconds channel, I can heal my group to full, then toss extra heals at them until the elite fades). Last night we did the CoE submarine path. All went well until the final Alpha fight, when 3 of us went down when he was at 25% health or so. I and another two-manned him down, rezzing each other back and forth, healing up from bare slivers of health, and saved us from a wipe. At the end, panting for breath, I said on Mumble “And -that- is why I bring (this alt) to dungeons!” In F&F Molten Facility I was at times the only one up on the end boss. I stayed alive fine but couldn’t dps him enough … so I had to jump off the platform to suicide so we could reset.

The chest is also Trooper’s Armor, I think, from the Personal Story. I would have to go in game to verify what it is called. In PvE it has a big somewhat metallic area on the chest instead of a guild logo area (on a male human, anyway).

The areas are Maguuma (all the jungle areas — Asura/Sylvari starting areas, Sparkfly Fen, Mount Maelstrom), Kryta (the human lands — Queensdale, Harathi, Gendarren, Bloodtide, Kessex, etc), Ascalon (Charr areas), and Shiverpeaks (snowy Norn lands including Frostgorge). If you bring up your map and scroll out a bit you can see them by color. Jungle greens for Maguuma, farm greens for Kryta, browns for Ascalon, and white for Shiverpeaks.

Yes, go to your Achievements panel, the Tradesman (or something similar) tab. It will tell you account-wide exactly how far you are in each skill, though not which alt has which one.

Way back when ANet posted a lot of possible Tshirt designs and polled people for which they wanted. Are we ever going to see those? I particularly want the one in the upper left, the giant grey 2 logo on a black field. The other black one and the green one would round things out nicely but I think I’d buy three of the giant logo one to make sure I had a long-lasting supply … right now I am relying on my WoW tshirts from SwagDog as my most comfy ones but as I don’t play WoW any more I am ready to move on in my apparel as well

LumAnth, what pants are you wearing in the second shot? I have a guild mesmer that is desperate for a pants outfit rather than concealing robes.

They changed the leopard to a bear. I am sad, I really wanted the leopard for my Asura because omg cute. Heck, I wanted it for my Sylvari too and maybe my cheerful human necromancer. The others aren’t doing as much for me and I haven’t bothered to get one.

Unless you’re going for the daily/monthly salvage and forge achieves. I know I’ve filled out my last few salvages for dailies by buying the cheapest white items I could find. (Which burned me once, as someone listed a vendor bought one which couldn’t be salvaged, but it was a very mild burn since I lost 40 copper or so ) Anyway, that means that people can note there is a salvage daily and put up the whites for a bit more as there will be a demand.

I have come to like this look on my mesmer so much that I keep transmuting to it. The colors aren’t practical … much … but when you think about it, the clones do need to draw attention!

I’ve only 100%’d on my Thief, and I did find the extra speed, dodging, stealth, and caltrops highly useful in Orr. On the other hand his last skill point was one to channel in the Iron Marches, constantly swarmed by mobs, and I had to call in a pair of guildies to help keep the mobs off me so I could get it. I think others are right, most any profession will shine at different parts of the exploration. Just be ready to call for help in a place or two.

Culling is a different issue, Chase It’s when people are around you but you at most see their name tags, if that, because the game won’t load them for you. They’re all there, just not interactable or visible.

Check the Suggestion thread “An Option to Disable Right Click Targeting.” Apparently we get that option “next patch.” The issue has been that if you move your camera with the right button, it also shifts your target.

It’s a very long thread. But it worked, in the end (hopefully. Still awaiting the toggle).

The bug’s still there. I did the in-game ticket as suggested. Though apparently Orr is deserted just now (unusual on Tarnished Coast) and so I cannot possibly get up the stairs to the Arah entrance to get the wp anyway.

I’m glad Ranger is working! You can get a wide set of pets in the Norn starter area, a bunch in Hoelbrak itself and more at the very start section with the various animal-theme sections.

Check out http://www.guildwars2-pets.com/ and click the pet locations line at the upper left for a really good guide. It doesn’t always tell you exactly where the juvenile is but it gets you very close to start looking.

I had a guildie post it on her wall. You copy a particular code, paste it in, and add your desired text. She found it on Reddit, I think.

I just logged in and while there’s no patch yet, I did get mail from the Inspector referring to Canach being in custody and there being more to do. Perhaps we can load contracts now?
