Has there been any … oh yes, there has, there are years of threads on it and on the reasons why it won’t work in this game. Do a google search “GW2 forums race change” to find all the threads your heart could desire.

I did the part by the fountain, and that was fairly tiny. But then I continued on to meeting my Vigil Mentor in Vigil HQ and got the whole Vigil plaza area to roam (no vendors, of course, so no dungeon item sellers). I’m looking forward to the fight on the beach.

Those are never her fingers. First of all I can clearly see a fist / grabbing hand in the picture (right below the marked part) and secondly her fingers would be as long as her forearm and really weirdly twisted.

They are her fingers. It’s a terribly unrealistic hand pose, but compare the color to the left hand, as well as the length of the fingers on each hand. It might need more foreshortening, and perhaps if the hair weren’t blowing to conceal the heel of the palm it would be more obvious.

Normally I qualify such things with an “in my opinion” but I am utterly certain that is a hand with the thumb pointing horizontally over the skull and the fingers pointing up with the forefinger bent further back than the others. The palm is pointed over the skull as well.

Hard to do since he’s not on the ship. We do the Zhaitan fight without him.

I do wonder if the 100% rep guilds kick someone who has a personal bank guild and has to rep it for a few minutes here and there to use the bank storage.

Lately I have been playing my wizard and doing wizard-only dungeon runs with other people, and it just seems to work way better than anything else.

We can just use Frost Bow in chain and with the rest of the abilities even Arah is a breeze.

So why do other classes even exist? Staff Wizards do more damage because of AoE and they’re a lot easier to play than anything else. I trust another player with a wizard more than I trust one with a Mesmer or a Guardian for example.

Same logic as with zerk gear. Other builds seem strange and people might be using them because of being noobs, therefore if I want efficiency and reliability I make zerk only wizard only dungeon runs.

The problem is that when the balrog event procs all the wizards get dragged down into lava and can’t respawn until the group’s been out of the dungeon for a while.

I like this to an extent. But since I have every single dye (other than the RNG gem store ones, I think I only have one complete set out of those sets) I’d just instantly get the collection rewards and still have not much more to work towards. I have a guildie who does have every dye, she goes berserk when new sets come out.

Which does beg the question of whether RNG gem shop dyes should be required for collections … though it works for minis.

Still this is an obvious and easily trackable collection, so it certainly makes sense to make it an achievement.

If only you wouldn’t get suppressed doing that.

I think that one reason people don’t like Trahearne is that a few people didn’t like him, were vocal, and the meme caught on. I don’t mean the common use of “meme” involving pictures with captions, I mean the actual original definition of an idea that latches onto a brain strongly enough to exclude other conflicting ideas.

So there’s been bandwagoning and mob mentality on top of a running joke that’s become serious to some.

That doesn’t mean criticisms of the character and the story are invalid. Some people have well-reasoned opposition to him (that I don’t entirely agree with, but I understand their position). But there are a good number of people just me-tooing, “You hate him? Me too! Lol he is a useless flat salad who stole my glory!”

They can’t tell you when they’ll know the date, because as soon as they know the date they’ll tell us.

It’s a bit like asking a woman who is trying to get pregnant to tell you when she’ll know her due date. (Analogy not great, I know, and I’m not saying ANet is trying to start an expansion .. it’s just all I could think of in terms of projected dates).

There is no release date yet. Once there is the news will be all over these forums. Meanwhile you will have access to beta weekends, though we do not know right now when the next one will be.

Once the key is applied to your account, you will play HoT just by patching in once it launches.

Mrauls is correct. Or, if you’re making a new sylvari, slide the glow to lowest, and perhaps also pick a glow color similar to the skin tone so even if there is a faint glimmer it will blend in.

I always make the brightest most contrasty glow I can and pick hair that will really show it off, because I love having it “glow green like that.” But aesthetic preferences are not universal

This won’t help you now, but if you make a look you really like, it’s worth a quick series of screenshots of the sliders. Then save those in a folder where you can find them again (I use Games>GW2Screens>Portraits>Concepts, for example).

For all the problems ArcheAge had (has?), I have to say I really admired their having not only a save feature for sliders, but being able to do interim saves as well as I got a face slowly shaped to what I wanted. The file (which you could name anything you liked, I used the character name) then went into a copyable location. Since it took most of an hour to customize in that game, it was a vital feature.

I’m certainly wanting the aetherized warhorn back since I prefer its shape to, oh, every single curved fat cylinder that are most of the warhorns in the game. I almost got it a few times back when the weapons were available, I just didn’t have any alts that it suited and ANet hadn’t started retiring sets yet so I didn’t know to get it just-in-case.

It’s the faint line across her middle that bisects the belly button, with slightly different shades of skin above and below. I see it because I have excellent color vision — whatever else my eyes do wrong, they can pick out very tiny color differences.

Misleading title is misleading. I had to log into game to confirm there is not in fact any update at this time, other than the previously empty Promotions tab now having the LA Dye kit for 7 days only.

I can see the seam you mention but what draws my attention is the A in a circle on her belly (an illusion made from pattern/shading/muscles). She has an ANet brand!

You may not have noticed the many many posts about the warhorn she is holding. I can see why you could mistake it for a focus, but it is clearly the warhorn that was datamined. Also, Ele’s already have a focus and the teaser pics have thus far showcased the new Elite spec weapons.

I think in general a good rule of thumb is not to give stuff and money to strangers who are actively asking for it. I worked in downtown DC for a few years and got a good immunity to panhandlers, though I was happy to buy food for the old woman near the National Archives because she was grateful for it, not angry I didn’t give cold hard cash. In game or on these forums I’ll sometimes spot someone genuinely in need and then it makes my day to give them that little boost to achieving their goal.

But spamming Map for gold? They can go hang. Now, the quote you gave skirts the line because the guy isn’t saying he wants donations, but in the context of doing it so constantly in so many maps it becomes clearly a scam. Have you reported him in a ticket?

We don’t even know what all of them will be yet. Only four of nine thus far (details on the fourth, the Elementalist → Tempest, will come this Thurs and Fri).

You can use the code to preview it on any female sylvari you have, even one you make for just a few minutes if you don’t have one yet. It’s not the same as roaming around in the world and seeing animations, but you can at least see if there are any odd hip expansions and such.

To be fair, it’s not just extrapolation. There was a dev comment along the lines of those elites who get a one hand weapon (and thus less new skills than a two hander offers) get something else to compensate. Thus far the something else has been a mechanics change to the F-skills.

If I do female human I’m fairly enamored of this look. It would finally be an alt to use some Carapace on. Heck, I might use it on a sylvari, even. Suddenly I feel I have to make a whole cadre of revs just so I can have all the looks I want … (the bunny ears were just for beta though, I promise, unless some RP reason springs to mind for her wearing them. I agree with this. I love how the cook’s changes with race (and the never released scholar’s and blacksmith’s too). Though I suppose if the goal of outfits is to limit the number of art pieces produced, this idea might not fly

One dispute: The Cook’s looks fantastic on norns, to the point it’s my default RP clothing for both of mine. You just need to dye it well.

1 — I dunno, I don’t stare at them much. But I think you can mouse over the skill to see the countdown, if you really want to take that much time out from fighting. Otoh if you have a boon on it will start flashing when it is about to expire.

2 — I always like to have at least a small invisible bag as my bottom bag so I can tuck permanently kept items in it for safety. Check the prices, you might find that an invisible bag is actually cheaper than other bags of the same size.

3 — imo experiencing is the best way, followed by videos or build suggestions or general theorycrafting posts. You want to have a good feeling for what the skills do, then you can seek advice on how to synergize them better and you’ll understand the advice.

4 — I can’t answer that, I don’t min max. I have seen others post vehement opinions on some builds being vital and others being trash. Me, I take what looks fun and seems to work well together. I’ve done well enough with that, though a couple of my alts are fairly low dps as a result (they survive well, however).

Sorry. Big fan of the Hornblower novels here. I even played him in a LARP once (and let me tell you, sewing Napoleonic drop-front tight linen trousers is a real bear … and using the restroom with them is even worse, since I’m not equipped to take advantage of the drop-front).

Just this morning. Spec teasers have so far all come out on Monday mornings. Then we get a Thursday blog and a Friday livestream.

I’m skeptical about warhorn as well, as I’ve yet to see it be a really useful part of a main spec for any profession and I’m not fond of pretty much any of the warhorn skins. Still kicking myself for not getting the Aetherized bugle back when that was available, as I am so sick of the unrelenting big fat curved horn shapes.

But ANet has fairly consistently done interesting things with weapons that I would never have dreamed up myself, so I’ll wait for the stream on Friday to settle my initial impressions. After all, other than the name, Dragonhunter looked far cooler to me after its demo than before.

As masteries will be account wide, not character specific, all your alts on the account will share your progress.

It’s still going because people are trying to help your readers know that while your advice is good, they can do even better. If you’d listed sell prices instead of doing an instant sell you might have made 6 or 7 gold the next day.

It’s fine if that seems greedy to you or if you just want the thing right away. There’s just a step further that can reward the seller even more. Or, hmm. Your readers can also go buy the things you sell on the cheap — you get the money you want, and then they can resell the item as a sell listing and make the extra gold you declined. Win win?

What is your source for one per character? As I recall it’s one of each precursor craftable per account. And then they are account bound, so you could in fact shuffle Quip and Incinerator both onto your thief.

I’m fine with Trahearne and don’t mind the voice acting. For those who feel the voice acting is the big problem, though, check out the PS Restoration. I have not yet gone through the revamped PS myself but my understanding is that they redid a number of his lines to get him a bit more energetic.

If the voiceovers are no longer the “monotone” that some criticize, new players are going to wonder why veterans are hating on the actor

I assume the xps is the Dell XPS? I ask because I had Dells until my current computer and was quite pleased with them. First was an XPS Studio laptop, very pricey, very heavy, more of a portable computer than a laptop, but it handled everything quite well and I could hook up peripherals to turn it into a compact tower at need. Then I got an XPS Studio desktop.

Which, in fact, is the machine I’m using at this very moment, years after purchase (with one upgrade to the video card a couple of years ago), and able to play GW2 on it at max settings just fine, albeit a little slower than my new computer. It’s noisy as all get out. But faced with buying a new machine for my month with my mom or just shipping out my old one to use while here and then junk, hey. Hundreds of dollars saved.

This one’s been sitting under my desk since I replaced it in April 2014 and hasn’t failed me on this trip. So yeah, I call the XPS a good buy. The only reason I shifted away from Dell was that Dell stopped letting me customize my ordered computer’s specs other than some software decisions.

Sometimes it fits the scene. Usually it prompts laughter in the ooc chat channel.

Mea, I kind of like that orientation speech. I just like how the voice actor delivers the line. It sounds convincing. Then again, I’m more exposed to “I hope the Queen held enough of us back to defend DR, if it comes to that,” and of course, “If Mordremoth could attack the Pale Tree, it could strike anywhere.” (The DR line makes me hope that DR will in fact get attacked in HoT).

I know there was a previous thread on this, but have fewer search resources than usual just now. In any case, in the last thread the cause wasn’t narrowed down but I think I’ve isolated it.

I have Party chat in my “Main” tab only. As you know, the tab title turns red to signify that there are unread messages. When I am in SW or chasing events for the daily or doing Teq, I stay in my “Map” tab at the cost of not seeing party chat unless I toggle over. Frequently I find that the “Main” gets stuck as red.

I believe this happens when the party disbands while I am in the Map tab. The light green messages about “X is no longer in the party” go in Main, and then Main stays red.

My friends who play GW2 on Macs say they’re prone to constant dc’s.

I’m not sure. I’d worry about too many spoilers if I used a sylvari, assuming they’ve implemented the race-specific whispers. Maybe norn, as I do have a concept for a norn rev and I’d get a chance to see how it feels in combat before committing to an actual alt.

I’d like it to be all the races so I can hear the new combat move shouts from other players, though
