On one hand there are foods remove condition when using healing skills, on the other hand here are foods steal health on critical hits which scale with power.
My speculation is that the Mursaat created humans as their servants while hiding in the Mist. When they return Tyria, they left behind the humans. While being in the Mist, human learned how to master the magic. The most powerful human become the six human gods. However, as human populated the realms, the barriers between the realms and Tyria weaken, just like how the realm of torrent opened a portal in Elona in Fraction timeline. Eventually humans gods open the portal and brought humans to Tyria.
Since Mursaat were the original master of human, there is always a special relationship between Mursaat and humans.
Being level 80 means you can equip the top level gears. Other than there is nothing special about being level 80 in GW2. If you haven’t unlock all traits, you need to collect hero points in the open world.
If you don’t like exploration, you can lookup the events and activities in each map through the official wiki. The event quest mark will only be shown just before and during the events. The event rewards will scale up to your character level.
If you like the skins and best gears, you can’t get away from farming.
By the way, PvP and WvW are open to characters at any level. Some players level up their character in EoTM. Players who speed run dungeons perfect players with certain achievement points. Being level 80 means nothing in looking for dungeon pug.
Among fans Guild Wars also known as build wars. Understand their builds and counter play is part of the meta game.
Two things need to happen for GW2 run on XB1
1: DX9 on XB1
2: Official support of controller of GW2 on PC
Otherwise will be too much effort for ANet to port GW2 to XB1.
But why people would pay XB Live subscription to play on XB1 where as no additional charges on PC?
Instead I would prefer ANet invest in porting GW2 to 64bit so that we have bigger map to explore without travel through portal.
Personal I am more interested in VR or AR on GW2.
I always think it kinda like how the cheer leaders or coaches get people pull it together.
One of the bosses in the Raid trailer which also shown gliding mechanic is very huge. It’s large hit box secure ele’s role in the Raid.
What if Glint and the Forgotten were the ones built the city to flight the elder dragons. However, the Mursaat occupied the city for themselves to hidden from the threat. That why Glint wrote the flameseeker prophecies so that the chosen eliminated the Mursaat and the Forgotten could recover the city.
Tried this one recently. It scaled very high with elite. Eventually they matched across the field and knocked everyone down like what you have in queen gauntlet. Very straight.
The timeline doesn’t add up. Why Glint not tell me, my gw1 character, how to become exalted? Or may be my character is the first exalted and their leader.
Timer or not alone does not dictate whether the team need a dedicated healer or otherwise. Instead it is whether the combat force you eat the damages or you can avoid and mitigate them. This encounter seems to be the later one. But it doesn’t say all encounters in the future will be design in this way.
Whether having timer or not is one thing. The other thing is whether the time period is appropriate or not. Months later adding different level of timers for lower level of rewards might help softening people opinions.
Will GW2:HoT, compatible linux trough wine?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Poorly tuned drivers and wine/OpenGL overhead lead to very bad performance on Mac and Linux. I have Windows partition on my Mac just for gaming.
The timer is essential to protect your hands from injuries. Flighting this boss is like playing an arcade shooter in which you need to constantly move around to avoid damage from orbs with different colors and pick up power up for mitigating damages from instant wipe. There are no pause button , no resurrection, and break from combat in this encounter. Slow burn will put too much stress on your hands before you notice it hurts. The timer force you to take a short break even you don’t want to.
Trading Post UI basically is a html page. Probably adding regular web stuffs like Javascrift and Python to the list.
Instead of telling people GW2 HoT have different game modes, how about create a unique brands with these people would instantly recognize what they are?
For example:
Professions, combat, engine, UI: GuildEngine
Lore: The Lord of the Guilds
Story Mission: The Legend of Trahearne
Open World: Guild Theft Auto
PvP: UnGuild Tournament
WvW: Eternal Battlefield
Guild Hall: Guildcraft
GW1 only have eight people in every instance. GW2 can have max at 200 at each map. The traffic lag among the players across the continents could be the problem.
HoT is supposed to be gw2 end game contents. You probably need to leveling in up in the core game. Personally I saved enough Tome of knowledge to bring up my new character to level 80 when HoT is available.
I rolled a PU Mesmer for the LS2 stories since ep2. Stealth help a lot. If your profession do not have stealth ability, you could buy consumable spy kits from a few open world vendors.
You can enter the raid instance even with exotic gears. ANet also make sure you can enter it without commander tag, which cost 300 gold. However, whether you can finish the end boss will depend on your individual skills and team work.
Once people find out how to beat it, it will become another farming area as the dungeons. If you are not good enough you probably will be kicked or blocked by the others who speed run the raid rather than the gate set by ANet.
Might be we should complaint about how useless or garbage chrono is as in other forums.
Isn’t destroy the point of CS can stop it and pull the Mesmer back the that point?
A Char get magic from human gods? A very big plot twist.
As the other said before, you play it wrong. Don’t follow the champ train. It is for farming and boring. Exploring the world and discover the meta event chains. If you are not strong enough for the event, you can map chat to ask for help.
An alternative is leveling up in PvP. All traits and almost every sigil and rune are unlocked there.
Same here. But rune of radiance is ok.
Not sure whether it is a bug or not. The fourth attribute on Privateer rune is a shout on hit. For my ranger traited with Resound Timbre, the shout doesn’t proc swiftness and regeneration.
If I am not mistaken, ranger’s elite spec have more buffs than the others spec through F5. People always complain the pets and other AI on ranger. Instead of adding ranger abilities to deal more damages without pets, ANet address this problem by adding more skills and healing to ranger through the mechanic of transformation. If Celestial Avatar is not the appropriate name from the lore perspective, what would be the other choices to name it so that it fit ranger theme?
What if Ascension and Weh no Su would be part of HoT? Or might be there are missions to unlock the elite spec with lore explanation?
I hope the birds can actually fly instead path finding based on the terrain. The pets should able to walk away from aoe damages in which the pets with range attack will be very useful.
If phantasms could be damaged if not targeted, that means bounce attacks are not effective on phantasms as long as they are not the primary target of the player characters. This change would have impact on not only mesmers’ skills rely on bounce attacks, but also bounce attack skills from other profession such as guardian focus healing skills. If ANet accept this suggested change, does it also means phantasms should be healed or received boons through bounce attacks?
To keep phantasms alive through aoe, it might be easier for us to ask ANet to enable phantasms actively walk away from aoe circles. I read that in the early design bosses can walk away from aoe. But this behavior is disable because of the complained from beta testers. So the technology for AI to walk away from aoe is existed in the engine. Given that all pets AI have improved since june feature pack while not benefiting Mesmer’s illusions, asking ANet to enable phantasms’ ability to actively avoid aoe damage should be to much work for them to do.
Not sure whether it is a bug or not. The fourth attribute on Privateer rune is a shout on hit. For my ranger traited with Resound Timbre, the shout doesn’t proc swiftness and regeneration.
I have read in the other thread a fifty five years old survivor after two stokes have difficulty to finish LS2 last mission. He didn’t mention which build he roll. But taking out builds which is easy to play, but boring to me, isn’t seems to be fair for players who might be in disadvantage.

Although I don’t enjoy condi builds, I do not complain it. But I would like to see ANet offer gear stats with vitality, power and precision in HoT. The introduction of specialization remove players’ ability to adjust their attributes without changing the gear set. Why I have to invest in healing power or condition damage when I just want to get vitality?
I didn’t realize that there was no reward after completing the mission. But overcoming the challenge itself is rewarding. My complaint is that the clue in the game is not very clear.
Isn’t it in PvP all skills and traits are unlock w/ most of the sigils and runes available regardless of PC level? Try out the builds with practice npc over there to see wether feel right for you.
How about adding a rune set which cleanse conditions when using elite skill? Wait! Isn’t it called rune of lyssa?
I read a thread in WvW which complain about pressured by condi thief and Mesmer. Being able to absorb conditions from allies and transfer back should be a very fun counter. But this is no more with the proposed changes.
In theory, if you have extra computers, you can get extra accounts and level up those PC by forming parties with your PC from main account. With this set up you can solo dungeons in a way similar to using heros or henchmen in GW1 w/o help from AI.
As a Mesmer I solo this one with a PU build.
One solution to address the problem here is to add a rune set which add vitality, reduce condition duration and shout “Sic ‘Em” on hit.
Add a rune set which shout “Sic ‘Em” on hit so that everyone have access of anti-stealth measure.
If just for map completion, PU is good for skipping contents. But if you also want to get gold and karma through events, you might not have enough damage to get good rewards. For power build, rune of air w/SoI give me constant swiftness and better dps than rune of centaur.
What if introducing a new rune set for 5%, 8% and10% chance on hit cast aoe reveal?
(edited by Doug Whisper.2465)
I don’t play thief but I read another thread compare trap thief Vs PU Mesmer. I also read how thief lose because of stealth disruptor traps in WvW.
I wonder if ANet add more counter stealth measures in the game, will people take it or rather than hold onto their builds?
In GW1, hex ignores armor and force people to invest in health. In GW2 those become condition damage, toughness and vitality. Those are trade off and counter measures in the original design. Condition damage took a backseat for a long time is simply because the server side engine cannot handle all the calculations. And they were forced to cap the 25 stack limit to keep it intact. Now they seems have solved the server side puzzle and have a big push in condition damage starting with burning.
HoT's plot 'selling points' make no sense

Let it be. I guess the plot in GW2 will eventually just like the Lost or X-Files tv series full of holes and contradictions.

I remember from somewhere I read the devs started with very detailed models in their design. And then they reduce the level of details until they no longer able to retain the feel. Furthermore, they decided to target dx9 because they want there are more number of the machine can run the game. Therefore, they do have very detail and pretty assets in-house. But they decide not to use them in the game because they want more people can play their game.
If you watch WoodenPotate videos, his game look very pretty as he run a mod called Reshape which force the engine to push more power from the video cards.
Sounds like the artifact of pledge fit Mesmer theme very well: manipulate opponents’ mind; feeling confused, in-patience which lead to miscalculated and lose.
Condition damage by design ignores toughness. One of the counters is to invest in vitality.
If your solo reason to play GW2 is for the Eternity, you probably should quit it. We don’t know how long GW2 will last. ANet might go out of business if HoT flops. Or HoT is successful and ANet decide to move on the GW3. I can’t bring my GW1 skins to GW2. I don’t think we can bring GW2 skins to GW3 neither. At the end you can only keep the screenshots or videos of your Eternity.
There are always things we cannot get in our life, but it doesn’t make our life totally worthless.
