The Bereserker is the worst HoT elite spec hands down. There is no possible way to defend it or argue against that fact.
The berserker spec trait like actually DOWNGRADES the warrior and makes him weaker, you won’t see a single Warrior grind for the hero points nor bother to get the elite spec. And in PVP they prefer remaining as a warrior.
Compared to the Necros,guards,rangers and thieves for example. Who have elite skills that nearly double their strengths, and no life the game for 10 hours a day in the jungle just to get those powerful Elite specs.
Months of balancing and ideas and yet Arena net somehow managed to find a way to make Warriors WEAKER with the elite spec. My mind is blown.

It has some good ideas, giving warriors access to burn, the hardest hitting condition, can actually be quite potent, it’s just not fully realized. It seems so far judging by the new build last night that that they aren’t buffing warrior, but instead trying to nerf things like dragonhunter down to it’s level. A little confusing, but we’ll see how this goes.

What’s REALLY insulting the bizzare and inexplicable dev logic that because warrior is ALLEGEDLY “easy to play” it’s not allowed to be strong.
Except that the very fact that warrior is simplistic and blatantly lacking tools makes it one of the hardest classes to be effective on? So it’s a double downward spiral – this has never been more evident with the Elite specializations giving every other class new tools out the honker while warrior, according to the devs, doesn’t deserve it for being the “beginner class”

Warrior has always been the most straightforward playstyle to use, and I think it’s a good thing. I turned to warrior because when I was new I wanted this heavily armored bruiser and that’s exactly what I got.

I really like the Arenanet staff, for the most part they have done a good job. The state warrior is in right now reminds me a lot of mesmer pre june patch. They had double ranged shatter (which was thief bait) and were required to take IP and DE to be useful in competitive play. Berserker has a lot of good ideas, it’s just not fully realized. I think they should slowly shift away from labeling warrior as a “beginner class” and give the people who legitamately like warrior more things to work with.

Guardian has also been straightforward to play and they have a solid condi build (burn), solid support (AH guard) solid dps (dragonhunter) all of which have some tricks to keep them afloat like aegis, traps, healing. Compare that divserisity to warrior, the “weapon masters,” guardian sort of seems more diverse.

Ok so I know it’s not perfect and with the build I made I have almost no offensive presence, but being able to tank an entire team in tpvp is a lot of fun and the heals and auras aren’t bad either xD. I’ve literally won games because three people are trying to kill me and get their home back.

It’s really funny to see chronomancers and dragonhunters try to burst you only to to see it did little to no damage lol

You either play earth minstrel tank with water or arcana minstrel tank, in the first case a condi overload can kill you regardless so the opponents you were facing were obviously bad, in the second case you won’t survive a proper burst in which case the opponents you were facing were obviously bad.
While the build is good is far from immortal trust me…just wait to face reapers/scrappers/burn guards etc

I’ve ran into all of them and never had an issue, reapers, scrappers and burn guards are just as easy. 16 games in and have not died in a 1v1. For overloading, the ones worth using are earth and water, but you don’t use them everytime it’s available.

Wtf burn/bleed is so useless, only thing decent on Berserk mode is the better F1s and the small buff on F2

I shouldn’t say it’s not being played at all, but the presence of warriors have greatly diminished in pvp. I love me some warrior, it’s always been my main next to mesmer, and while I do agree that shoutbow pre june patch needed to be balanced, here are some of my thoughts on how we can improve the profession:

DEFENSE AND DISIPLINE TRAITLINES ARE A MUST

I don’t think I’ve seen a profession more shoehorned into two traitlines in awhile now, Defense and Disipline are MANDATORY. Fast Hands Brawlers Recovery, Cleansing Ire, Defy pain, etc. there are so many traits that are crucial to being a “good” warrior. Mesmer had this problem competitively at one point with deceptive evasion and illusionary persona, but one was made baseline and there are tanky builds without using DE that are playable. Some of these are going to have to be made baseline like fast hands and brawlers recovery because of how little resistance Warrior has to the direction of the meta. It has crippled build diversity.

SHOEHORNED UTILITIES

Endure Pain and Berserker’s Stance, those two are seen in nearly every offensive build and that isn’t a good sign. Why aren’t people using more rage skills or physical Skills? Because the damage is so high, you need the immunities, which would be ok if your offensive presence was not outclassed. Would you rather take a burst warrior on your team? Or a burst mesmer or dragonhunter that have much more versatility? Would you rather take a tank warrior or a tank guardian that offers more team support ad healing?

BERSERKER BURNS AND OVERALL MECHANIC UNDERPERFORM, MAKE BERSERK MODE MORE POTENT

The Berserker is an awesome idea, burning is a strong condition. I think a few adjustments could help this, ofor example moving the trait “Burning Arrows” somewhere else (a traitline that berserkers would actually take) and buffing the burning stacks to two on each rage skill. (or increase duration) If I am giving up things like Endure Pain or Berserker’s Stance, I want my rage skills to hurt, and right now, they don’t. Berserk mode is a cool mechanic, but it needs more. I am spending all of my adreneline on this and it depletes after combat fast (should be fixed like they did with Druid Celestial Form), if I’m using this, I want it to have an impact. Most people don’t even notice I am in berserk mode, and that’s not a good thing. I want it to be like reaper where some people are like “Oh kitten that’s so cool and useful.” Give it some incoming damage reduction, increased damage, take inspiration from rampage and kinda work something like that (minus the stability). Make it flashier, reaper looks awesome, berserker should be like on fire or something kinda like how guardian’s torch skill is, something to make it more visible.

It seems berserker wants to push condition builds (burning) which I think is cool, here are some suggestions that could make it better:

-The trait “Burning Arrows” seems like it goes entirely too well with berserker, two stacks on auto attack despite it’s low duration still helps maintain burn stacks similar to the guardian’s virtue. I suggest taking this trait and moving it to another traitline, if fast hands was ever baseline at least put the burning part in that slot.

- I love the idea that rage skills do burning with the trait, they just need to be a little stronger. Since warrior is forced to take endure pain and berserker’s stance in pvp, I think two stacks of burning per rage skill instead of one seems appropriate. We’re almost there, if the burning lasted a little longer or we had ways to stack it faster it could be solid.

Two stacks of burning on auto attack and reduced recharge on longbow is ridiculously useful for berserker. They have given berserker burning, a condition that is extremely potent and I found apeccing full condi can do some serious damage with the setup I have.

Burning Arrows is in a rather awkward traitline, imagine something like fast hands was made baseline and at least the burning on lb auto attack replaced it’s spot. Berserker isn’t ina good spot right now but when I spec full burning I can see it has a lot of potential, I’ve been able to kill revenants, guardians, reapers, rangers, warriors and even some chronomancers in this state. Not perfect kills by any means but decent.

The traitline you have to take for Burning Arrows doesn’t really benefit burning builds much and even if you were to spec for signets, it goes against taking rage skills and I haven’t seen any signet build users even take Burning Arrows. It’s a small change but just a thought.

I love warrior as a class, here is my constructive criticism.

Warrior should feel like an honorable, tough class to go against, I don’t feel that anymore compared to past metas such as pre june patch shoutbow or axebow when it was a thing. I was this big tough charr warrior and it felt awesome, next to mesmer, it’s always been my favorite.

Warrior feels like more of a pushover, it is EXTREMELY reliant on stances and a handful of traits such as fast hands, swapping weapons to remove conditions, cleansing ire. Berserker struggles to fix what issues warrior had, it has a fun mechanic don’t get me wrong, but it also highlights that even as someone who wanted to make this burning warrior with torch, the new utilities, he just can’t take hits and the payoff damage is not good enough. My necro, mesmer and ele outclass him, as even when I’m making up builds, I can’t think of a profession more reliant on such a handful of traits to be cosnidered good.

My chronomancer is fast, able to do decent damage, can take hits, and provide team support via boons and healing. I look at that, and then I look at my berserker, the utilities do one stack of burning each, no team support, open to burst without endure pain or berserker’s stance, the damage is mediocre for how much survivability you have.

I love the idea of berserker I really applaud Anet for making me love the warrior class when I usually dislike it in other MMOs, but a warrior should be strong, resiliant, not a glass cannon that is doing the same damage as other professions only lacking the range and team support. The traits are what truly kills it unfortunately.

shoutbow is tier 1 again

The build isn’t OP and took a big hit in the June Patch because for some reason the heal they gave was OP and ANet nerfed it. Because sence I guess.

Now it’s back on top tier IMO because more and more teams have been using it again in tournaments (Go4GW2). Also top Warrior players/streamers like ROM and Tarcis have been streaming a lot of this build. Latelly when I get on ROM channel thats all he uses mostly.

I’ve allways liked the build but didn’t played it since June Patch because I feel in love for GS/Hammer. Yet I might giving a try soon enough

In general the Zerker just feels underwhelming.

Here are some of my thoughts after a couple hours of play.

Primal Skills

-The major problem The burst skills are underwhelming.
– GS adds burning, seems wasted and the normal gs burst is stronger.
– Longbow, basically the same skill
– Sword, the burn duration is realllly low (with food, sigil and traits)
– Hammer, in pvp id rather have the stuns and in pve the blowout is small.
– Axe, pathetic damage
– Mace, its interesting
– Rifle, the main rifle skills are still terrible anyways

Also,

- The damage is very low, they seem to be the equivalent to a lvl 1 normal burst?
- Skill recharge of zerk stance > burst is horrifically clunky.
- Primal skills share a recharge with their none primal versions. So for example sword burst > zerk stance > sword primal there will be a 3 second cool down on the burst. Again its clunky and awkward.
- Also not being able to see the primal bursts anywhere in the ui is inconvenient.

Torch

- Skill 4: The variations on hits can be a deal breaker. One one mob it’ll hit 3 times and be an decent skill. Or … it wont hit at all
- Skill 5: Cool, unique and interesting. Needs a damage buff and an animation for when it’ll burst.

Zerk Stance

- The 10% attack speed + quickness is hardly noticeable. Perhaps a couple seconds of super speed could be added?

Rage Skills

- I fear they wont see any play. All seem under powered and easily ignored or we already have better options.

PvP

s/t+lb is very fun, but is still entirely dependent on the stances to survive so the warrior still suffers from the same problem as always. Also the rage skills do nothing to help solve the issues of just being kitted.

Overall

The concept of the Zerker is meant to be a hybrid high burst spam, but the combos feel clunky and the primal burst and rage skills are underwhelming. Still plenty of time to play/test more, but so far the Zerker has a great thing going for it … its really fun.

I agree with alot of what you said, I do feel like the berserker has a great concept, it’s just a little underwhelming. However, this is the first beta test with berserker so maybe it will get some buffs for more diversity afterwards!

I know this might sound crazy, but given the appropriate trait, I think rage skills should do two stacks of burning instead of one. If I have to give up things like endure pain and berserker stance for these rage skills, I want them to be able to put in the offensive work. Warrior is heavily reliant on stances, the reason burn guards can do a little better despite having very similar attributes with less health is that they have blocks, which are a huge deal in this meta. Reflecting one projectile and doing one stack of burning just doesn’t compensate for the intense damage.

Oh yeah and distracting shots, if you use head butt you put four stacks of confusion on yourself if you use it xD I know it’s just one condition but still, if I wanted to trait for skullcracker mace and take headbutt with me, I have to take damage for my next couple of attacks or switch weapons xD

I personally think it will, which isn’t really a bad thing. Warriors are in a rough spot right now due to very telegraphed meta builds, but I can definitely see a carrion or celestial burn warrior becoming a thing.

It’s no surprise that burning is a strong condition, the idea of a warrior with it’s already bulky attributes being able to abuse burning via the torch, new burst on sword and burst on lb is going to be awesome.

They HAVE been relevant. It’s not hard to play Warrior when you have a Guardian backing you up because Warrior just scales so hard with boons from others.

Warrior is a DOTA character, okay with no team support at best but stupidly broken with actual team support. You know what the term for that is? That term is called “Carry” in which case they can do damage or point hold causing your team to win the game.

Learn to land high casting channels and casting times, because by your logic you are pretty much saying d/d ele is balanced when in reality this game should not be balanced around d/d ele effort in any form. It just feels you want the old hambow back which isn’t even the real solution.

That’s how it was from day 1 except the shoutbow meta and it only became way better today.

Can’t buff Warrior and make it easier just because people don’t know how to play one.

There are good warriors, but the profession itself is outclassed. I’m not trying to sound rude, but what does a warrior bring that other classes can’t? I played shoutbow back then, never really enjoyed hambow (loved celestial axe last year).

I miss the versatility though, I’ve always disliked using the greatsword, I can acknowledge it’s good but I always liked to play more the tanky support roles. With the trait layout, I feel like were kinda forced into taking the gs/hammer build. Maybe I’m missing something, but wheres the good banner builds, shout builds, condition builds that aren’t outclassed by other professions?

Warrior is a fun class, one of my most played actually. Usually I’m not the one to jump on the forums and go “USHUASUHAS CLASS IS BROKEN” and I certainly won’t present myself like that, but warrior is not a good profession in tpvp. it is outclassed by other professions at what it’s supposed to be good at.

-Greatsword/Hammer, a very hard hitting build and probably our best right now, is quite telegraphed and lacks range. This wouldn’t be so bad, but with the abundance of blocks and blinds in this meta, warrior struggles to be that designated melee class

-Rampage, an elite I enjoy but didn’t quite like for forcing many warriors into being “rampage bots.” It was kind of our way to stay relevant, and even though a nerf is ok, now there is no reason to take an engineer over a warrior who also gets rampage. I know there is also a chance to get tornado, but given the abundance of utilities the meta engineer has (especially the elixers), why take rampage when you can take rampage and moa?

-I went into detail on this on another thread, but comparing guardians to warriors, guardians are much more versatile. Think of most builds, bunker, condition, power, guardians have a superior build in nearly every category. There isn’t a solid bunker warrior build due to trait layouts, condition warriors are a bit underpowered as burns are more threatening than bleeds and stability completely shuts down the mace confusion build, warriors do have rampage over power guardians, but outside that again, blocks, blinds and similar damage output.

We are the weapon masters, I love this class, I just think it is struggling to find a role right now in the competitive scene, which is a shame. Maybe the berserker traitline will fix this, but what do you think?

Did Tempest Overloads convince you?

I actually enjoyed the tempest in tpvp, I was able to construct a good support build with it. While my tempest didn’t have the 1v1 potential of my d/d ele, it excelled in team fights and support. the constant healing and aura sharing is pretty OP.

Simply everyone cry about burn then they thinked that it is a really good build and make it in the tier of good ones.

Then, it’s a really good build, inflict high damage if the enemy let you do it, but in high spvp level it’s not a top build.

But ehi, if they want make some noob use it more frequently, let’s them do that. more players to kill fast XD

Anyway, it’s a good build, really good build. The only proble is that it’s really easy to counter, expecially with the actual meta.

Keep in mind this isn’t me bashing on burning guards or anything, I was actually legitimately curious as to what caused such a big leap.

Offensive support build

Warrior is a fun class, but with the recent shoutbow nerf, how can warriors become a support class if someone wanted to be tanky, give boons and do decent damage? I took elements I enjoyed from particular builds and crafted my own tank support build.
With AOE might stacking, blocks that grant might, reflect projectiles, stuns, empowered allies for more damage and the banner of defense for give your teammates and yourself a little more survivability, you have sort of an inverted AH guardian that tries to overwhelm your enemies with stats.

This build has very high toughness, vitality and decent power. You wanna stick to the big fights, swap weapons a lot, you get AOE might from both the minor trait and the sigils. You also get might from blocking which can be especially hilarious. I’ve had instances where I’ve blocked with the shield or mace, only to have it reflect back at them and give my allies a bunch of might stacks. Jumping in front of your allies to absorb hits like that is important. You can also get fire aura via the burst on lb and the 4 skill on shield

ALTERNATIVE SETUPS:
I use Dolyak rune because it gives the proper stats and buffs your passive healing a little over 400, with the minor trait might stacks also give you healing power so even though you have 0 (haha), the extra is welcome.
Two others I’ve liked so far is rune of the sanctuary and mercy. Sanctuary gives you some neat things like a last resort stability, mercy is if you like to fast rez people, which you will have a little over 4k toughness when rezzing so you’ll take hits pretty well.
If you don’t like empowered allies, sometimes I take shrug it off to give a small AOE condi cleanse. If not hammer works fairly well just switch the trait for hammer cd as it’s more important to land interrupts for your team.

This build has no stability other than the skill on the elite banner, but can generally take enough hits. This is the tank build I use, I’ve had some success with it and it’s pretty fun. I may find ways of improving it later. I’m not gonna be that guy that calls it omfg ultimate legendary warrior build but yeah, fun stuff lel.

Hmm. One thing I can come up with to try would be to:

  • Hide your helm
  • Load into another map so the Flame Eye is gone
  • Transmute the helm to have another skin
  • Show the helm
  • Load into another map to see if the Flame Eye returns

It may not be an acceptable thing to try due to using a T-charge or two to get it back to looking how you want it to, but I think it is worth a shot if it saves from resorting to deleting the character. Could instead use a duplicate item and then perform the test and only use one charge to make it match the appearance of your existing helm.

It may not work. Again, I’m just trying to think of a way to reset and unglitch the character’s helm slot.

Also thinking if utilizing a die>respawn, die>logout>login, die>hide helm>respawn>show helm sequence could have an effect on the appearance of the character, as well as if the active attunement could play a part in the above-outlined unglitch attempt sequence.

I tried it, unfortunately it won’t even go invisible, it’s like it’s part of the character. It’s been 3 weeks so I don’t think bug support is going to reply to the issue I submitted in game. Is there any alternative?

I do not see it mentioned yet, and I expect support to have requested you perform it, but have you tried running a -repair on your game client yet to see if it finds and corrects an error in a game file?

Another thing to try would be to enter into water and go beneath the surface. Then hide your aquatic helm. Maybe try removing your land helm completely first and then re-showing aquatic helm either while still under water or on land, and then re-equipping your land helm. Just trying to think of a way to trick it into resetting the head appearance on land if a repair didn’t help.

I appreciate the suggestions, unfortunately neither of these worked and the helm skin is still stuck on my character and bouncing around as he walks.

I really don’t want to delete this character, but I’m trying to find out how to fix this.

Ah. I thought you were supporting throwing away defense for more offense, that’s why I made that post.

To be fair I don’t login often enough these days to comment the meta (I’m just keeping an eye on HoT at that point) however from my past experience I have to say that I’m not surprised at all to read that.

What I hate about this game’s class system is that it’s never clear what you’re supposed to be good at. On one hand they tell you that they made classes that can support all roles, but on the other hand they make a class which is intended to be the king of conditions, another that’s intended to be the king of boons and tank, and so on. Which one is it?

What I love about how Blizzard makes games is that you always have a good idea what to expect. They tell you what’s the class fantasy is and what concrete roles it’s supposed to cover. If you discover that your class sucks at something it’s supposed to be good at, you can expect it to be buffed next patch. (And it usually is unless it would break PvP or something.)

In GW2 you never know. If your class sucks at something then you have no idea if you can expect a fix or if it’s intended, because they never communicate their design intent; they tell you that every class should support all roles while the reality of the first 2 years of the game’s existence says the opposite. And when you like to specialize into certain play styles that leaves you constantly asking yourself if you should give up your main and reroll, or keep playing your main and hope for a buff.

I actually like there nos no traditional dps healer tank because it allows more variety and I’m not forced into one spec. I think with a few adjustments warrior could be fixed, perhaps buffing bleeding and reworking awkward traits that have no real use such as the finishers activating twice.

Elementalist has always been a class I thought was cool on the surface, but it never clicked with me, as in I was pretty bad with viable builds. I always maimed mesmer and warrior.

Last week I had some good help from the people on the forums and I went from being absolutely terrible to a viable competitor with d/d. I find myself really enjoying it because in other games I would often play things like druid that were sort of this jack of all trades. I’m having a lot of fun with it and I gotta thank the people here for helping me despite the frustration I had, it really paid off!

I’m not sure I can get behind that.

All classes are supposed to be able to cover all roles, they just do it with different styles and themes.

Ideally, I should be able to specialize my warrior in tankiness or support, and have hopes to be about as good as a Guardian or any other class.

That’s true, I do think a warrior should be able to be tanky/support if they wanted to. The reason I bring that up is it seems that’s what they are aiming for. Turning the warrior very offensive, so I was thinking ok wielding a giant Gs sounds appropriate, but why is it can guardians fill all these roles better? Why should I choose warrior? The class description says the longer a warrior stays on combat the more dangerous he is, which is not the case right now.

Notice how the meta Gs hammer warrior dropped out of tier 1 after the rampage Nerf, its a good indicator of how reliant their best build was on just one skill. Rampage is OP and the balance is acceptable for that skill, the problem is that that’s what we had to stay relevant in higher tier play. So we have all these weapons, and only about 5 are decent but not enough to fulfill a role.

Judging DPS, the main reason every Warrior picks GS is simply that GS overshadows all the rest weapons sets by retaining great DPS while maintaining good mobility and an evade skill. Guardian has lot more active defenses which are better than Warrior’s passive ones thus letting Guard invest heavily on offensive gear without getting him in a “shoot & kill or miss & run” concept the burst Warrior is.

Banners aren’t something that extraordinary. Having Engi turrets in mind there is a general advice that you should fight an Engi near his turrets. Same should be for Warrior and Banners but it isn’t.

I don’t support full condi builds on Warrs. I do support them on Engies or Mesmers but not on Warrs. I can start a whole wall of text why I don’t but I think its not the purpose of the thread.

In general, Warrior needs more variety. The overall concept that as a warrior you either go GS or Hammer with an additional supplementary weapon set is simple wrong cause warrior is the single profession that can use such a large variety of weapons. Whats the use of a large variety if 3/4 of the possible weapon combinations are overshadowed by the rest 1/4 ?

Exactly, warriors are capable of using the most weapon types in the game, so it makes me wonder why guardian is able to utilize nearly every role more efficiently. Prepatch I can think of the mace sword condition, banner bunker, shoutbow, gs lb. Some of those weren’t as good as lb, but were viable.

Shoutbow was definitely overpowered, and I could totally get behind putting warriors in a more offensive role while guards were more defensive, but the end result was that warriors lost their variety, they’re stuck in a melee burst build. It’s fun, but other than rampage why take it when you can go medi dps with more consistent heals, blocks and blinds? Warriors need an identity, something that other classes cannot offer or doesn’t offer as well. If guardian is more flexible with burst gs, condi builds and bunker/support builds, what makes me obligated to choose warrior over guardian in pvp?

I’m not sure if there will be any more balance patches, and I love my warrior, I guess I just feel like they could use a little more variety other than burst gs in pvp. I think the best way to implement the flexibility is by comparing them to their brother heavy class, the guardian.

DPS: Warriors can definitely burst and I’m sure I don’t even need to mention rampage. I think the problem is flexibility with the rampage nerf. A dps guardian has access to blinds, teleports, blocks and aren’t quite as telegraphed.

Support: Banners are great in dungeons, but the pvp scene hasn’t seen much potential in support builds. I do think guardians are in the right of bring the bunker hence their name, but I don’t see really any shout or banner builds that can survive in the meta.

Condition builds: I love the mace sword Condi build, I think its very underrated. However, if you want a full blown Condi build and not celestial, I don’t think I need to mention the damage of burning guards.

Keep in mind this isn’t me saying warriors are terrible or guardians need to be nerfed, its more of an analysis. Warriors are weapon masters, I kinda noticed though compared to a guardian, they’re a bit outmatched in build diversity. What do you think?

I kinda made a shoutbow esque support build with it and so far its worked very well, sharing auras is pretty OP. Only downside is this build isnt very good for 1v1s similar to bunker guard, but in team fights it can hold its own

this happened when equipping the embroidered armor headpiece (I’m pretty sure this doesn’t matter) on my new ele yesterday, the water headpiece still showed over it, but it doesn’t appear there anymore. the only things I can remember doing is hiding (while I ran across the Grove to the cultural armor vendor)/unhiding the headpiece, then changed the skin.

it might do nothing for you, but thought I’d post.

I’ll have to try this and see if it works, I’ve never had this problem and do wanna fix it but it’s pretty funny xD

UPDATE: Unfortunately it did not work, this glitch is very persistent, I’ve had it nearly 4 months now lol

I’ll be the first to say I have never had this problem before, but one of my characters has a glitch the normal support team could not fix and said probably go to bug reports.

The starter ele helm skin (the fire dot on the forehead) is permanently stuck to my ele despite me wearing a completely different helmet piece. If that isn’t weird enough, if I go into first person with him, the helm skin will bounce around like the mickey mouse head on a sing along VHS, its strange.

Why isn’t doom used anymore on d/d pvp builds and leeching is used instead? After the patch, doom got a 2 second duration buff, while leeching didn’t get any buffs but suddenly everyone wants to use leeching?

I think it still gets used, but the extra heal is nice too. This patch d/d can definitely deal out more damage so perhaps people are using that extra sigil slot for another heal.

earth was orginally tried, but fire was found to be better for the damage and might stacking potential.

I will practice in fire then, I have been enjoying the offensive potential so far. I’m going through the stages of learning elementalist. Frustration. Depression. Acceptance lel

And blinding. Fire is way better. Do not worry, that build is very easy. Once you grasp the combos, it is the easiest build in the game.

ps: Do not forget playing staff. I do not want to be the only one who plays staff

Thank you for the confidence lol, Elementalist has always been a class I really liked on the surface, but never really mastered. Pre patch I often played gimmicky builds like fresh air as I couldn’t play d/d. This patch I seem to be doing a bit better with help from the forums.

D/D is better than staff. I usually play staff for fun. Your mid point pressure is pretty good and I rarely die as much as people think.

How well does DD do against burn guards? Out of curiosity

cake walk. DD ele has plethora of condi cleanses. You can take care of their burns EASILY and at the same time, apply pressure on them with burns of your own + blinding ashes.

Excellent, now regarding rotations, do you sometimes have to use skills out of the rotation? For example, sometimes I’ll use fire ring, earthquake and roll, then double click magnetic grasp. I noticed phantarams rotation involves him only pressing grasp once and then pressing it after another skill

D/D is godmode again currently.
staff is fun for messing around, but D/D is superior.

note: my first and favourite char is a staff zerker ele,
but D/D plainly is superior.

If you like it tanky use earth instead of fire and go stone heart. You will loose damage but when using earth at the right moment its very tanky.
Also much strengh comes from mobility. Ele requires training.
I personally enjoy stone heart and it will absorb the zerker burst well but if i move badly the low HP of the ele are unforgiving!

Someone saw this post (Katrina) and confronted me in game for some training on rotations and might stacking. This was using the fire line, but performance has improved. Sometimes I get busted, but it was interesting to see I was tanking mesmers while dealing decent damage. One of my biggest issues was the dodge roll in earth. I would actually roll far enough out of it which wouldn’t proc it but that player also helped me with that positioning. When I get off work today in going to practice some more in matches.

Ele is definitely a frustrating class for me lol but its slowly winning me over. Any additional tips are appreciated, such as what to do when being focused

Don’t play it if you don’t like it. No point in that. And honestly, if you can’t apparently see how strong it is in PvP right now, it’s probably just not the build or class for you.

I usually enjoy tanky builds, and ele isnt my main so I’m not a professional or anything like that, I just want to believe it’s good. I always hear how d/d eles this patch are basically god mode, the ultimate support hybrid since shoutbow warrior pre patch, I’m really excited, I just want to see what it can do and if it’s actually true or not.

I keep hearing that, but I don’t feel it. its very squishy, I would need someone to show me it can be tanky or viable.

you are playing it wrong or something… its not squishy at ALL. it can hold its own in 2v1s very well when played properly. you fingers will get a good workout thou.. its not an easy build to master.. knowing when to go to water or earth is something you learn with experience.. you can’t just blindly spam skills and buttons as a D/D ele you gotta be able to time everything, all your CCs, blast finishers, water cleansing/healing.
mess up your water timing and you will drop quickly.
knowing when to escape outnumbered fights is also key. you dont just use air 4 to zap into battle, its also a key escape tool.

Thats probably what im doing, probably one of the biggest is mightstacking. I was watching the tutorial video on metabattle about the offensive combo to stack might, but I only end up getting 4-6 stacks when they say I should be getting 10-25 without using any cantrips. How is that?

I recently started using something like this after your suggestion (with a few changes) and I feel zerker staff offers a little more than celestial. Even though im extremely frail, the overall damage turned the tide in a lot of battles today. People who ignore meteor shower got downed pretty fast lol.

I think the funniest trait is the grandmaster one in fire where you cast a lava plume when downed. There were so many times where I was about to get killed (got back stabbed by thief for example) only for them to stand in the lava plume and get downed themselves. I figured if I was gonna be this squishy, might as well have a surprise waiting for them right? xD

Ive tried many staff builds , and honestly i didnt like hybrid or bunker.Hybrid is the worst,no dmg and still die pretty fast.So if u will die either way,why not go full glass?

And i LOVED my ultra-high dmg staff build.Fire/air/arcane.Traits,amulets,utility – everything to deal more and more damage(LIKE using arcane shield as your “defensive” utility).

How to play (basics) : Avoid 1v1. Staff ele have lots of AoE , so u are meant to annihilate in team fights. You will probably lose a 1v1 , or use everything you got to try to kill someone.But if u want to 1v1,a good way is Tornado+Lightning Rod trait.Its very strong.
Position: Look for places where you can cast your skills without being distubed.Positioning is very important if u are playing Staff ele.

Master glass Staff isnt as easy as u may think.You gotta learn be best combos between CC and Damage,and learn how to use your skills to avoid being chased/killed.

Train staff then DnD as dnd requires knowledge of the staff ele if u really want to be good.

I’m decent with staff, but I think one of the biggest changes is either renewal. I have always seen healing signet’s passive as the superior healing skill, and since I main warrior I thought alright I should be ok at managing passive healing in the background.

I never feel the healing lol, I must be missing something. Another big thing I have an issue with is d/d’s reliant on might stacking. I’ll go through the entire offensive rotation but only get about 3-4 stacks of might.

I use hoelbrak runes mostly, but they are both good. Although instead of pirate you can use strength runes for the uptime and damage. Pack is also another option if you want to try something different.

Been doing pretty good with staff, not feeling the tankiness or dps of d/d though lol, must be missing something. I hate the healing signet xD
