It sets a really bad precedent that if you have the disposable income you can buy an advantage over other players. Measuring that advantage is moot, the fact remains that it exists.
thus begins the pay2win train
I agree. The Gem Store has now crossed the line into “Evil” territory.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Strength_Booster
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armor_Booster-_-
These don’t work in wvw, whereas the food obviously does.
Anet have indeed crossed a line here, and I think it would be wise that they turned back and went the other way.
As it is the current policy of sending a recipe to those who bought rich coffers is unfair. I myself bought gems, converted them to gold and spent them on regular coffers as I figured opening 2000 of them would be better value than opening 20 rich. Didn’t get a ticket or anything useful of course, but I still sent anet my money. Where is my recipe guys?
The recipe should be sent to EVERYONE or be added to the zhaitafy trader before this escalates into another pr disaster.
It’s a shame because other than this the latest patch has been the best we’ve had since before christmas imop
ye I might try rocket boots, retaliation is soo nice though :p
ye 40% food is better but costs soo much :p I like the idea of rockets boots, you are basicslly adding to your initial burst (and have 80% fury uptime) but loosing out on retaliation, although you also get an awesome blast finisher. im going to keep legmods because the combination with food is in theory awesome, although I would like official confirmation that they stack together.
the reduced cooldown from fireforged trigger on the ff and eg is very nice, but sitting duck is cool as well. sitting duck might be better in short 1v1 duels.
you can get the soldier backpiece easily for karma from the grenth temple npc, the ascended stuff is available for laurels etc but exotic versions should be fine also, (emerald jewel for knight amulet and ruby jewels for berserker stuff), the end stats will jsut be a little lower. soldier armour you can also get from various temple npcs for karma, as well as other places
Only use skill 2 if the enemy is right on top of you. But ye, its pretty bad I agree. But its more a case of some classes have overpowered downed states imop, engineer is about right. Thief is stupid, it takes 3 attempts to down them each time, and don’t get me started on eles.
ye, Im assuming btw that leg mods stacks with the food condition duration reduction, its hard to see whether this is the case when in fights though. would be interested to hear about this
why wouldn’t it? certainly seems to be doing something as cripples basically arent a problem
One skill rotation is: flameblast then flamejet at close range to open combat, netshot to immobilize, napalm on top of them, acid bomb away to blast the fire field, jumpshot back into action to get the leap finisher, blunderbuss, overcharged shot. there wont be much left of them after this
glad you like it, ive had some fun duels in wvw today with this :P
Build out of date, will rethink it post engineer balance update (looks like a major buff is incoming )
31/8/14
Great build for wvw and pve. For dungeons you might want to try something different depending on team composition e.g. nades. Sucks but such is the dungeon running meta
Traits:
Firearms 20 – fireforged trigger, juggernaut
Alchemy 30 – protection injection, deadly mixture, invigorating speed
Tools 20 – speedy kits, leg mods
Skills:
rifle, medkit, elixir B, elixir gun, flamethrower, supply drop
Equipment:
Weapon – Knight’s Rifle
sup sigil battle
- Extra Bloodlust stacking weapon
Armor- Soldier
2x sup monk, 4x sup altruism runes
Trinkets -
- Soldier Emerald Backpiece
– Knight’s (ascended) amulet
– Berserker (ascended) accessory x2, ring x2,
Consumables:
Hardened Sharpening Stone
Bowl Poultry and Leek Soup (WVW), or Chocolate Omnomberry Cream in PVE if you want 40% MF, in which case you should take elixir C instead of elixir B for condition removal.
Summary
With optimal gear as above (you can get similar stats with other equipment combinations), you will have:
-3300+ attack with perma 10 might (more now since I changed to 4x altruism, 2 x monk setup, as long as you keep hitting medkit every 10 secs) while wielding flamerthrower, 3500+ when switched to rifle, 3550/3750+ with full bloodlust,
-40% crit chance, made into 60% with perma fury from elixir B and drop stimulant.
-Double damage on critical hit
-2700 armour while wielding flamethrower
-21000 base health
– + 60% boon duration
– perma swiftness/fury/vigor
– around 40% retaliation uptime + more from extra elixir B triggering at 75% health
– -36% cond duration + -33% cripple/chill/immobilize duration (-69% total)
– almost 5s protection when disabled e.g. stunned every 5s
– 1 stunbreak (healing mist), 2 x1 condition removal (super elixir, antidote)
– 6/7 secs stability from elixir B toolbelt
– -20% toolbelt recharge time, as well as full recharge at 25% health (for another heal and stunbreak)
– other extra stuff :P
Use elixir B and drop stimulant at beginning of battle, keep using on cooldown. Rotate between rifle and flamethrower (be quick with rifle and you will not loose the might stacks from ff), use elixir gun for super elixir and acid bomb.
One skill rotation is: flameblast then flamejet at close range to open combat, netshot to immobilize, napalm on top of them, acid bomb away to blast the fire field, jumpshot back into action to get the leap finisher, blunderbuss, overcharged shot. there wont be much left of them after this
I’ve used this in pve/wvw and it is extremely effective.
In wvw I barely ever loose 1v1, and have won 1v2 on multiple occasions. Try to dominate enemy with cc and burst from the rifle and ff, use flame jet when other skills are on cooldown or when enemy is very mobile. You are extremely resilient to enemy cc and should be able to dodge almost everything.
I made this build because I was sick of using grenades/hgh pistols. Hope its useful!
edit.
If you are running with the zerg in wvw, use omnom compote food and pistol/shield with sigil restoration + sigil stamina. You can also use tankier trinkets (see edit 2).
edit 2
For even more survivability, such as in zerg combat, I sometimes run with 2 soldier rings (ascended) and 2 emerald soldier accessories, gives me a lot more health and toughness, and 70% total crit damage, 50% chance with fury. I am also using automated response instead of invigorating speed in zergs atm for added anti-condi, but this is apparently getting nerfed soon so…
(edited by DrMatt.9408)
Why don’t super elixir and healing mist count as elixirs for the 20% duration reduction trait/hgh etc? It actually says that they count as elixir skills in the tooltip. It would improve build diversity encouraging elixir gun use if fixed, especially since we had the kit refinement nerf
well lets see if its below 30 silver in a months time
Im glad its not just me concerned about this. As it stands it is very close to p2w imop. Flame me if you like, but anet have crossed a line here, this is the first time that a combat stat boosting item recipe has been made exclusively available on the gemstore.
what might happen, if the food itself ends up very expensive, is that the ingredients used to make it will shoot up in price to compensate. at least then people with the recipe won’t be able to rip off everyone else
Its a shame that zergs with stability just roll through it though, if anything its far more useful 1v1 because you can just dump it straight on top of the enemy player
Powerful stat boosting item recipe only available on the gemstore, and subject to rng at that, as well as being time limited. If this is fine with you thats cool, but it’s not with me. It’s the principal of it if you like. Hopefully the tradepost will become saturated with them like you say, but I’m not optimistic.
Other than this, great patch
atm people in wvw just run into it, but people are going to learn eventually so not sure how useful it will be in the long run
ye I use condition duration food myself, but whats going to happen to standard raw stat boosting food now? omnomberry bread anyone? don’t think so
Engineer Elixir C converts ALL applied conditions into boons over a period of 5 seconds, No limit, no IC. Standard cooldown is 40 seconds, decreased to 32 seconds when traited, which it almost always is. And then you have the toolbelt skill that comes with it, aoe converting conditions on allies to boons. Thats inconsistent for you
lets not forget either that this not an optional skin/mini, but a stat boosting item that is far superior to other raw stat boosting foodstuffs currently available
Well we will see, seems strange noones trying to flog it for 100 gold or something, which is what usually happens.
Are you really saying its ok that recipes for stat boosting items are effectively being sold exclusively in the gemstore? People buying rich coffers have a complete monopoly atm. Is the recipe account bound? If not, why isn’t it on the trade post? Whats going to happen when dragonbash ends and coffers are no longer available, or didn’t you think of that sherlock?
easily? they cost 40 silver each atm
Have you seen the stats of the new food? Its insane: 260 mixed stat + 5% crit + 20% MF + 10% EXP. Clearly superior to pretty much any other food available, and Im still waiting for the recipe to appear on the trade post, as rich coffer buyers are currently trying to flog it for 40 silver each. Looking like P2W atm unless something changes
running 0/30/10/0/30, the new soul reaping gm trait (gives me 100% crit chance) is insane with sigil earth and the curses minor that procs bleeds, and fear is just trolololol
(edited by DrMatt.9408)
Posted about this earlier, is it just me or is this new food ridiculous (check it on tp)? Currently only those who buy rich dragon coffers are able to make it, the recipe doesn’t seem to be on tp.
Can’t decide whether to go for 30/30/10/0/0 or 0/30/10/0/30 for my new conditionmancer build. I have full rabid gear from my old build that I don’t want to change. Can go undead or necro runes, but I don’t have time to farm nightmare. Which set up do you guys recommend for maximum damage output, probly in a wvw context?
ah ok fair enough, would have been insane without one I guess :p
enfeebling blood on entry to ds def has internal cooldown now
ok ‘dude’, guess that was what I was worrying about. I hope this recipe will be available on the tp, or we have our first gemstore exclusive food
’dragon’s revelry starcake’, wt is this? new uber food only available through rng (not on tp at present)?
weakness: 50% on all attacks
The burning is for those condition users that want to go full glass traits, and can live with shorter fear durations, or no greater marks. Or for hybrids.
But for those of us in WvW, we can take 40% duration food, and go 30/30/10 for massive burst, +100% fears, +80% all other conditions.
I will tell you right now, things may be sad in Spvp or Tpvp, but in WvW, expect of videos incoming from me of face melting extreme.
Basically my normal burst combo got around a 900 DPS increase. In the two seconds of fear, that adds about 1800 damage. And if that poison duration increase made it in, that will make that condition last longer as well.
I am going to hunt down zerker thieves with 12000 HP, just so I can kill them in 3-4 seconds like they kill me in 2 seconds.
EDIT: Nevermind that I can also drop marks, cast BIP, then epidemic with now a burn glued onto that combo every time.
How do you get 100% fear and 80% other cond duration on top of the new burning trait with a 30/30/10 build (you aren’t taking the 50% fear trait). I’d genuinely like to know caus I’ve been number crunching myself!
well if the leak is real, it does look like a very good patch for my engineer and necro. fingers x
has this been posted here yet?
Leaks have always been against TOS … atleast on GURU they always were…
Anet almost always puts every build still in testing under NDA. Plz respect those NDA’s
ok fine I didn’t know that, seems to be all over the rest of the forum though, deleted
Expect mega nerfs to hgh and grenadier traits. In return I’m hoping for a decent grandmaster bomb trait at least.
The way I see it, there are 3 types of expansions they could do:
1. Factions/Nightfall like – so massive new game map and new personal story requiring a new character (character slot expansion included), with at least 1 new class so people can have a brand new leveling experience. Example: Elona/Cantha
2. Eye of the North like – expansion of existing map with new areas and continuation of existing personal story for max level characters. New class would not be necessary, but there would have to be plenty of max level/end game content e.g. dungeons as well as a compelling story. Example: Far Shiverpeaks and Jormag.
3. WOW like expansion, with some of the above, in addition to an extension of existing level cap and new gear grind.
I would prefer 2, although 1 would also be awesome, if unlikely from what anet has being telling us. If it ends up being 3, I will almost certainly quit the game.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if we had a dungeon like The Deep from gw1? Would suit SC perfectly
never said they were gamebreaking, but they are annoying. what if I dont want to do pvp (like many people playing this game)? tbh if my suggestions were put into effect I dont see what harm would come of it
Atm there are several arbitrary restrictions on low level chars that get rly annoying if you have already leveled one char-
Weapon swap not available at char creation.
Helm and shoulder slot not available at char creation.
No utility skills available at char creation, and you can only use 3 utility skills when you reach lvl 20.
All these restrictions seem completely pointless to me and are really annoying. Whats more, utility skill restriction just stops people experimenting with different skill combinations at early levels, which should be half the fun of making a new char!
Please just remove these things and alt leveling will be a lot more enjoyable imop. Thanks!
pretty epic defense of stonemist by des atm :p
Before I get flamed I should say that I also have a glitched endless from halloween (took at least 1000 tot bags to get it then). I just fancied a chance at the 150 gold buy order
well thanks for the TOT bags Cymatoperior, I just bought 500 to give it a shot since I was having a luck streak with wintersday gifts. Got an endless and sold it for 150 gold on tp
I have a few questions regarding damage sigils:
1.Will 2 pistols with superior sigil of force give me +10% damage when using a kit?
2.Similarly, will 2 pistols with superior sigil of ghost slaying for example give me + 20% damage when killing ghosts.
3.Alternatively, will 1 pistol with superior sigil of force + 1 with superior sigil of ghost slaying give me +15% damage (against ghosts, +5% everything else)?
I was wondering about buying a load of very cheap pistols and wacking on the superior runes of … slaying, so I have + 20% damage options for different enemies when using kits.
Thanks!
Hate to say this but Deathwish is only 6 gold on tp last time I checked. MF gamble is only EVER worth if you are going for precursors, and even then I personally would rather save my money
Thanks for that Strenif. What I meant is that all other rare top level mats have mystic forge recipes as well as rune and potion recipes, so why not Putrid Essence? It’s like the devs completely forgot about it or something. I read a dev post somewhere that they are going to make changes to ‘correct’ the massive imbalance in rare mat prices e.g. stupidly expensive lodestones. Maybe they will give Putrid essence some love, or give us some way of transmuting rare mats of the same tier, similar to how we can transmute mats up a tier currently? The latter would be a good idea imop, heres hoping something like it will be in the Nov 15th update
Whats the point of this? It’s a topic lvl crafting material but it’s only selling for just over vendor price on tp?
