Dhuumfire getting hotfixed nerfed for SPvP.

engineers have exsctly the same trait in the adept tier of explosives, yet now the grandmaster necro version is getting nerfed. wtf? my engi is my main char but my necro is close to my heart, having played mainly as a necro in gw1, and seeing the necro being treated this way is painful.

Everything about this event has been carefully designed to fleece as much money as possible from people. You actually have to admire the genius behind it. People are splurging cash now in the 2 week ‘cheap’ skins window, and they will splurge cash again once the 2 weeks are up and Evon’s inevitable win leads to a ‘cheap’ keys window, despite the skins now being more expensive themselves. I honestly thought they had changed after the jade weapon scam but whatever. I’m enjoying southsun survival though so Im not too bothered. As always, the content is great, but the skin policy is a cesspit of greed and deception. Scraps are a ‘common’ drop? Lol

Just... Horrible.

I despise this minigame, it’s RNG based like all the other RNG bs in the game. Aspect Arena is much better since all players are placed on equal footing and it comes down to the skill of the player and not the luck of the drops you receive.

If you see someone with loads of good drops kill them and take it all

Just... Horrible.

I think its awesome personally, just use some strategy. If you don’t like fighting, stockpile supplies at the start then run and hide somewhere, I’ve won this way several times it really isnt difficult. If you are going to fight, focus on the guys with loads of supplies to make it worth it.

Not really relevant in a ff thread mate but fair enough, although good luck charging into the melee with the commander if you are running a zerker nade build. Goes without saying that this is a close range build, not long range. If defending a keep, grenades from walls are very good, I’m not denying that, I used to run grenades myself.

Also if the battle turns into a lagfest, its easier to use the ff than grenade kit, which is 1 of the reasons I changed the first place.

This is just not true. Anet is a great company and they have made a fantastic game, but I think the majority of the playerbase has made clear that while they want to support the game through the gemstore, they don’t want to gamble.

The gold standard was the flame and frost weapons, no rng garbage, just great skins available for purchase directly. If this had been the case for fused/jade weapons, I would have bought £30 worth of gems probably, but instead they got nothing from me.

I’d actually say that’s an improvement (depending on how common the chance is for the scraps) in terms of locking it behind RNG. I’d personally still prefer to buy the weapons, but I’m not too bothered, since we have the chance to get them during the Candidate Trials.

Also, dat Healing Surge buff.

I think a lot of players would prefer everything being free, resulting in Anet making no money. But I bet you there would still be complaining!

Yep flamer is awesome in zergs, just make sure you use some tankier trinkets (see edit 2). As wvw people will tell you, staying alive and tagging as much as possible is the most important thing in zerg combat, the latter helping the former by giving you more regen from omnomberry compote. If enemy zergs are condition heavy consider using elixir C instead of B, and swap protection injection for automated response.

also killing enemies through doors never gets old :P you can use air blast to knock people off rams as well

“-50+50 = 100% crit damage bonus”

I am confused as to where you are getting the bonus +50 crit damage bonus to get 100%.

‘Critical hits have a base damage multiplier of 150% to the base damage of the attack. Critical Damage is added to the damage multiplier as a percentage. For example, 50 (+50%) Critical Damage results in 200% damage multiplier on critical hits.’

From wiki, guess what I was trying to say is that you have enough crit bonus with this build to do double damage on critical hit.

Please give an option to remove the shoulder spoke from the aetherblade heavy armor. The rest of the armor looks awesome, including the the rest of the shoulders, but the spoke on a male charr looks horribly low res and clips with almost everything. It sticks through my shield when I am in combat stance and just looks ridiculous in other situations.

Like I said, the rest of the armor is awesome, just please give an option to remove the stupid shoulder thing. It would just be a matter of removing it and leaving the rest of the shoulder plate.

Ive felt the same at least 2 times over the past year, but then I created a new char with a different race/class combo and everything felt fresh again. It helped that I didnt attempt to get full map completion on any of my chars, so each time I had new areas to explore. In fact im pretty sure the drive to map completion on 1 char is responsible for people getting bored of pve so fast.

Whats more, even the rng element is less annoying, as we are rewarded with the new backpiece/helm after we collect a fixed number of tokens or whatever they are called, as opposed to opening 1000s of rng boxes with no guarantee of receiving a skin.

if a thief goes to that much effort in wvw to kill one person, they deserve the kill. backstab thieves are anti solo roamers, against a group or zerg they arent much use. while the zerker ele who just got pwned by the thief is farming loot bags with aoe spam the thief is waiting around for someone to walk past, or a poor dolly to kill. big deal, seems balanced over all to me.

Can we have a title for completing all the monster slayer achievements e.g.
‘legendary slayer’ or something? Would be cool IMO, you get titles for pvp so why not pve. Maybe even link it to a special reward, like with map completion. Would be something that people could earn over time through playing the game, and would encourage people to explore the world again as well in order to kill different monster types.

GW2 unlikely to get expansions [Interview]

DrMatt.9408

As some people have already noted, people are forgetting that Guildwars 1 received the Factions expansion 1 year after release, and then received Nightfall a mere 6 months after that. In short, 2 expansion packs consisting of 2 brand new continents, and 2 new classes each were released within 2 years of release. And anet had a much smaller team back then. Don’t see why they can’t pull at least 1 expansion of similar size out of the bag in the forseeable future.

This is akin to books really: some authors regularly release short stories lasting a few hours each, which is cool. GRRM has done this. But what these authors are best known for are the epic volumes they publish every few years. Or another spin on it, would you prefer GRRM to release a chapter of Song of Fire and Ice every month and never release the whole book at once, or would you prefer to stick with an entire book every few years (ok not every 5 years like with GRRM, but you know what I mean :P). I know I would prefer the latter, simply because it is a much more epic and fufilling experience.

Thats good to hear, the key to the future success of this game (IMOP) is a blend of living world – a pioneering new content delivery system that other mmos don’t have – and traditional content delivery through expansions. You can be experimental without scaring people away.

People are confused because on one hand they say that living story is their main focus, but on the other hand say that only a small proportion of their workforce are working on it, the rest working on other content’.

“we will probably never do an expansion and everything will be going into this Living World strategy.”

“[Living World] is only a fraction of what the rest of the company is working on,”

What is this other content if not a mini expansion at least? It’s certainly not bug fixing/game balance because this is happening at a very slow rate. You think they are going to release cantha or elona has part of a living story fortnightly update? More likely they will release an elona content pack for 15 quid on the gemstore with a tenous link to whatever living story rng extravaganza is currently taking place. I’m totally fine with this btw, elona is elona after all

The key to zerg play with the flamer is omnomberry compotes and sigil of restoration. Works best if you have a large health pool. You tag so many people with the flamer that when enemies start dying you will be swimming in health. pvt gear with some zerker trinkets works well. Take elixir C also as you accrue conditions very quickly in the initial charge, and you can change these straight into boons its also good to have a shield handy so that you can blast water fields.

Check out the build I’m using here, you might find bits of it useful (see bottom of main post for what I use in zerg v zerg)-

I’ve played around some more and tbh, Im going to keep using the above build in wvw. protection injection and leg mods are just too good to give up, and elixir B/drop stimulants combo ensures I always have fury up, which is key to the builds damage output (it is difficult to micromanage fury just on drop stimulants in a tough fight). I take the point that the build could be optimised further for general pve, although I have to say that it already works very well as it is Going 25 firearms, 20 alchemy and 25 tools would def work, you’d just be a little more squishy. In this situation I would swap leg mods for packaged stimulants and take elixir C instead of B. I would also use chocolate omnomberry creams to get the extra 20% boon duration and 40% MF, as elixir C should take care of the condition problem, which isnt so bad in pve anyway.

ok what I came up with is replace leg mods with packaged stimulants, which is actually an awesome upgrade for the medkit and will decrease the cooldown on drop stimulant so that you can still have perma might if you replace elixir b with something else, as well as better healing and team support to boot. I personally replaced elixir b with elixir c for the extra condition removal, which also synergises well with our long boon duration. had a few successful 1v2s with this set up tnight. rocket boots also worked well but I found that the build already has loots of ‘leaping’ in it, eg jump shot, acid bomb, and in the end I didnt make best use of it. might have just been me though!
