Just like to ask if anyone’s considered the update might ACTUALLY BE HERE ON THE 28th for EU? I know, crazy. There are two possibilities. Update comes out before midnight UTC. We get new dailies for tomorrow. Seeing as the majority of this content is laurels we get to start it tomorrow. Possibility two. The patch comes out after midnight and laurels start the 30th. We still all get to start working on the major update point at the same time, regardless of world location.

Additional functionality for the event log could include favoriting gold medaled events so that you can see when they’re up no matter where you are, or event sets.
An event set would be similar to a meta event except it wouldn’t have to be progressed sequentially and there would be a special reward on completion. They could also span several zones, telling greater stories. Two suggestions here.
Suggestion 1
Enemies grant bonus exp based on how long they have been alive, encouraging people to hunt them in obscure regions of the map. Make this same effect apply to events. Things that never get done, such as risen giants or sharks, those generally considered too much effort for too little reward, quickly rack up the bonus exp and karma and gold. The nice part is its already farm proof, its kind of anti DR in a way.

Suggestion 2
This stems from a revelation I had about events compared to quests. The great satisfaction of quests and a quest log is seeing it empty and having that sense of completion. What if we had an event log? The format I propose is this:

Once all the events in an area have been discovered and completed at gold you get a special star in the Event log.

I would like the ability to set up some custom graphics presets in the options menu. Going into WvW I want to have my settings much lower than in PvE because of all the particle effects. I would love an easy way to switch back and forth. I think this is a common issue for people, but if it isnt please spend your time on better ideas

I do think they jumped a bit too far at times. They could have included Hot Air balloons, Derigibles, all kinds of lighter than air..without plopping a Charr Helicopter into the landscape. That is a big jump in tech.

You would think the Charr would have one rail line. Nope, they have tanks and pack animals.

Apparently they skipped the entire phase of dragging guns into battle with teams of draft animals. They seem to build cannons on the spot with pocket toolkits.

It’s kind of hard to think of a culture that could conceptualize wheels, sprockets, chain drives and never manage to build a bicycle.. but went straight to huge armored vehicles.

I guess I am more opposed to the randomness of tech, rather than the presence of it.

Things that were invented were invented for the purpose of making war on being awake and the ghosts. Rail hasn’t come up yet because frankly Tyria isn’t big enough for it, but more importantly, the Asura gate and waypoint services work just as well for fast/costly transportation.

The humans won’t use charr technology, not yet. There’s too much bad blood there. The Asura don’t need it, simply put. The sylvari are too nature based to allow themselves to be surrounded by that much metal, there’s one in Divinitys that complains about the cobblestones I think. The norn…. Frankly they’re too busy forging their own legend to try to evolve technologically. The charr have made leaps and bounds in the field of technological warfare but what do you expect when 1/3 of your population is dedicated to that and are locked in a 250 year long siege against magic users?

You guys do understand that transferring your character data to another center costs money right? And they’ve currently been letting us do it for free simply because they hadn’t completely worked out guesting. This new way will help out a lot of players, and it will close doors for others. Maybe someday we will see the addition of Cross Datacenter play, but for now this less than perfect solution is the only one feasible.

PS for anyone saying that this was doable in GW1, please understand that it was not. GW1 had a completely different infrastructure that made something that looked like this possible. They are not the same thing.

Did you play in beta and buy slots then? If so that’s why. It’s a known issue and they let you keep them (I wanted 8 but have 13 as a result)

Just flip the scoreboard upside down. Someone killing toys wasn’t building defenses and we all know thats how you win toypocalpse.

I dont think it has anything to do with being "casual"or “hardcore”. I consider myself a "hardcore"player because I play ~60 hours a week, which fits the definition. But I don’t like dungeons either. But, I admit, I really just don’t like human beings and prefer not to be forced to engage with them when I don’t have to. You can still get the title. It requires 12 completed achieves, and there are 14 achieves to complete

In the jumping puzzle? Its not fair in any way honestly.

My highest score so far is 592. It’s not too hard. Hit it right when it leaves te colored area

Wait time can’t be reduced as long as there are still people in the puzzle. Have to agree though, it’s beautiful, well thought out, and demonstrates learning from past mistakes, but is a little too easy for many

The Urban Fractal is Ascalon, admitey with a weird redesign on city lay out. The burst of energy coming right for you at the end is the foefire. At least that was my interpretation

What if they got an ascended ring? That’s be fine right? Heck everyone could be happy then cause then its still a virtual item, a benefit to new buyers, and attainable by those already playing.

The activity only lasts the day but they’re all available again for two weeks or so once he arrives in LA. It’s actually a pretty brilliant compromise between one time events and giving everyone a chance at them

Hey just a heads up in regards to moving platforms, so far it doesn’t appear their engine is capable of generating them and/or handling them. At least not in group settings. Even the clocktower panels didn’t actually move, there were two versions of it, one you could see from the lobby, and a separate one off to the side where the tower moved and the platforms were stationary (A very clever idea I might add, bravo guys)

Umm if someone is the head of the guild they should have a different rank. The issue was a accidental promotion from a misclick gave someone untrustworthy full access and no force removal. If you’re worried about someone having a bad day and ruining your guild then simply don’t promote them.

Edit: Clarifying what I mean, if you really want to make sure founder has impunity the the structure should look as so:

It’s not like a new model coming out after a year. It’s more like 2 months after you buy the shiny new car they say “Alright, buy the car now, and get all the upgrades for free, plus a set of unique rims to say you were cool and bought the car early.” The free upgrades are a promo, the prestige item is a slap in the face to people that put their faith and money into Anet months ago, and is counter-intuitive to the way hats and costumes worked in GW1.

Interestingly enough, this is the first decision they’ve made that’s made me straight up angry, cause there’s no way to do this the “right way,” except giving us the hat.

Here’s how it is

After every patch, EVERY patch, even maintenance updates there is invariably a single thread about how they nerfed the RNG mechanic of X or Y. This is false. It is a result of a large sample size, in which people are independent of each other. You don’t see everyone’s drops, only your own. Let’s say the chance of not getting a rare out of fractal chest is 25%. Someone on the forums will complain that they ran 7 fractals and not a single rare. Well the probability of this is:

(1/4)^7=(1/16,384)

So for every 16 thousand people that run fractals, one of them should get no rares after 7 chests, assuming they’re all approximately equal. Now we know over 2 million people bought the game, let’s say, 25% are still active (intentionally low so I have less people can poke holes in) and that of that 500 thousand, 10% run fractals all the time. That’s more than 16 thousand, someone gets unlucky.

To conclude, (TL;DR) people get unlucky, and blame authority figures. I am not saying that we should not continue these RNG NERF!!1!!1!!!!!11! posts, just that they need to be toned down. Your bad luck is not universal, but if several others complain, there may be a legit problem. And anecdotal, “my drops used to be better” evidence does not count as supportive data.

2nd update. The Halloween one counted

Look Anet, I understand why you did it. You wanted to make a dungeon where you can’t sell or repair a continuous experience where failure has consequences.
Which is great.
But it sucks.
If anyone is curious what compelled me to write this, I just tried the Maw fight. It was going great, I was leading our party to victory, he was halfway down.
And then I dced.
And they don’t let you back in. The first time I tried a fractal, I was halfway through round one when someone dced out. In round 2 we had a rage quit. And we accepted defeat, game over, whatever.
And it kind of sucked.
The second time I tried a fractal I was halfway through round 1 when I dced.
And it sucked.
Now I dced in the middle of the maw, working with a really effective group, and it just really really really sucks.
Because I’m not failing on the basis of bad gameplay, or it being to difficult. I’m failing because my ISP sucks, and there is zero I can do to fix that, except try again and hope for better luck. So please, fix it. Either allow us to rejoin, or at the very least put in the old reconnect after disconnect feature,

Anet built a system in which these types of requirements don’t really matter. People have set them up, there’s nothing anet can do about that unfortunately

C’mon candide, this is the best of all possible dungeons. Had you not had such difficulty you would not have been compelled to make this post, and you would not have gotten all these helpful tips!

Why didn’t they Rez you?

No. It’s a hard dungeon. You can’t Rez until the whole party is down. And they’re supposed to require teamwork and strategization

To daily stat means winning a match and being “Most players killed” or “Most points captured” etc etc

Its either a temporary glitch, or they’ve reworked achievement values, making each point more meaningful. In the former, you’ll get them back. In the latter, you’re not really being punished

I’m sorry about CoH, but my advice is to let it go. There is potential for that to happen with any game, the best thing to do is just enjoy the game while its out.

The dungeon has been more or less announced as permanent content so I doubt it will have scaling in place

Ascended gear should be looked at as something that should’ve been in the game sine day one. It lets you take bonuses in exchange for your flexibility, and honestly, when damage and defence are multiplicatives instead of additives flexibility/balanced stats outweigh min/maxing. I will accept the existence of Ascended gear IF AND ONLY IF no other tiers of gear are ever added, they have no use. Now onto the real issue in this update.

Infusions
Infusion has a lot of potential to be used with new game mechanics like agony. For example: “This infusion provides half the normal defense against agony, but while suffering from agony you do X% more damage/crits cause fear/ etc. etc.” Or “this infusion provides double defense against agony, but you take X% more damage from normal attacks/deal X% less damage/etc. etc.” Infusions of this nature have the ability to create interesting trade offs where you build around having agony up often, or lower your DPS to take most of the agony for the party. What is NEVER ok is for infusion to provide stat boosts unrelated to new game mechanics as that gives back the flexibility you traded for the small ascended stat boosts.

Please do not post your thoughts about any aspects of the patch outside of what I’ve detailed, there are other threads for that.

The way to get people to stay in game and to stick to your design manifesto is to make it so that once you’ve transmuted a skin onto a level 80 exotic, it becomes available in a wardrobe that can be placed on any item, do the same thing with unlocking stats ideally. This way players can set a goal for themselves (filling out said wardrobe) and those players will be the kind that want to play THIS game.

Anet. I have faith in you guys as a company, so I will not rage at you. I will wait, and see how this is actually being handled. But please oh please do not include steadily increasing stats. Currently I am using level 79 rares, even though I’ve had the game since release. I love that I have all the time in the world to pick up my exotics. Please do not change that. Yes indeed, race is independent of stats

I believe in the synergetic a storyline there’s mention that the teleport gun is important because its the opposite of a waypoint (transponder no receiver versus receiver no transponder) indicating something about the waypoints lets you localize around them. As far as cost, based on conversations about shipping in DR I’m assuming the Asura tax adventurers for the waypoints, and because they use them so much they get free use of the big gates which we know locals pay for

This idea is horrible, no offense, but it cancels the whole idea of not having a sub fee. How? You can no longer walk away for a while, you can’t afford to miss dailies, otherwise you fall behind in the economy. It does the opposite of what all the supporters claim it will, it turns the game into a chore that can’t be missed

When you first wake up as a Sylvari there’s a “One does not simply…” line (…wake up and fight a dragon)
