It’s the only notable gold sink we have.
The droprate has to be low
I’m from Australia, so that might be why.
However, I’m getting a constant ~500 ping ( taken from resourcemonitor ) instead of a usual 180-220 when connecting to the US.
Is this a problem my end or are all Aussies getting bad ping when playing GW2?
Thx <3
Copper Salvage Kit, Permanent Bank Express and Minis imo.
Ok thanks!
That helped!
And yeah, I agree, a kite and musical instrument, are not the best…

Thx Gusie :>
Does everyone use them?
I would assume they would be talking about the utility consumables. Potions of X slaying. Example CoF potions of flame legion slaying or scarlet armies slaying.
That’s what I’m talking about. Is there a list? :>
Hounds of Balthazar? :d
Everyone talks about them. But which pots to use? Help appreciated :>
Sage ( Support oriented ) Class?
Adventurer Profession
Summons XXX to benefit a group?
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
If you’re going BM, might as well get a Bird or Lynx, not Wolf.
Might as well get a Sword instead of the Greatsword.
I would recommend going Axe/Horn and Sword/Torch so you can maximise the might stacking ( Sword leap in FireField + Horn Blast ).
Go Knights or something because you will be getting focused while your pet hits like a truck. If you die, your pet drops off because of the missing shout support that you provide.
My 2cents.
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
i’m coming from warcraft, i love playing the paladin and the hunter class.
on that note, this is the closest to hunter (obviously), i was wanting to know the pro/con of this class. I’m leaning heavy to this class though as my primary focus on this game.
If you like playing Paladin, try Warrior with a Longbow. Warriors are like Brusiers ( in LoL if you get the term ) ; they have strong armour/vitality and strong damage too.
The Ranger is an All-Rounder class that is decent at everything.
Pros:
Long Ranged.
Very mobile.
Decent survivability
Can build viably in many ways ( condi / burst … )
Strong CC with pets
Cons:
Weak in groups
Mediocre Support ( Spirits )
Don’t go Longbow Bear
The Ranger’s damage is decent, but relies on their pets to outdamage their foes.
eg) Ranger Greatsword Auto does 500
Guardian GS auto does 700
Most ( ranger ) pets do >500
If your pet is alive, you will outdamage your foe. if you pet is dead, you will be disadvantaged.
My 2cents.
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
Legit question. Is it because of noob bearbows?
By the looks of things, I think I will be continuing levelling my Warrior.
But a Guardian seems to be very strong because of op scalings. You can go full Knights and do 800 damage on a GS auto as well as being tanky AF.
I’m having a hard time deciding between the two.
I’m looking for a solo/small group roamer in WvWvW.
I want to deal sustained DPS and have strong CC/Imob.
I was think of Axe/Shield + Longbow for Warrior and Scepter/Focus + Greatsword for Guardian.
I need to have a ranged weapon on any class I play, I’m just weird like that :p
Is the Longbow any good ( Warrior )? I find its AA taking aaaages ( definitely not .75s ) and its damage seems mediocre unless it’s a full condi build which I do not want ( I prefer to rely on skills [zerker gear] and not conditions)
What are the pros and cons of playing a Guardian/Warrior. Which one do you think I would enjoy most?
Thanks :>
Warrior is the class you want. Guardians have little to no range and “kiting” people is virtually non existent. With warrior you have enough peels, range and CC to troll and kite all day. Not only can a warrior have high amounts of health and kite, but they pack a punch with hammer/axe. Their versatility is often sought after in tpvp.
Did I mention they have CC?
What are their cons ? Low team support?
…However, when it comes to small group comp, support Guard is one the best professions to go. Most of the groups success rest solely on the Guard(s).
Goes out to everyone, not just Harbinger, why is the Guard the best profession to go for group encounters.
Does the success of the group really rest on the Guardian that much?
Rough break down of things a Guardian will provide for group encounters:
- 600 range friendly condition cleansing (1200 on a 60s timer with VoR / not including virtue reset with Renewed Focus) approximate 11 conditions cleansed with 3 shouts wearing soldiers and VoR trait for 11% condition cleanse
- 600-1200 range 5 tgt Aegis on 32s traited timer and 69-90s timer depending on virtue traits. Approximate 3 Aegis every 75s on an average build for approximate 4% attacks blocked
- 600 range 12 stack group might with an approximate 65% uptime
- 600 range regeneration boon with about 26% uptime
- 600 range stability boon with about 25% uptime
- If mace approximately 6% of attacks are blocked (1 block per 15 seconds, if you can count it like that)
- If sword/gs you have approximate 17% of attacks blinded (10s and 15s over 60 second calculation. So 4 with GS and 6 with Sw)
- Can include Wall of Reflection for 38% projectile reflect traited.
- Self healing in a group with Altruistic Healing makes for a lot of survival, where enemies should target someone else if they can’t drop you in the first rotation
Outside of that, I believe it is Elementalist that can group heal better, I’ll include Engineer too since the Healing Turret is on fast cooldown with a water blast finisher.
Condition cleansing and group might I would say are things the Guardian brings well.
Engineer can have a pretty good condition cleans with Healing turret and Elixir Gun, but I don’t see them use it that much…so maybe it does not fit into the common builds well.
Other classes are pretty decent at self might stacking, but Guardian with staff can excel in this.
I think a Guardian assists a group by augmenting their ability to keep fighting better through short bursts, but they do not keep a group standing via sustain and healing.
TLDR recap:
Group condition cleanse, group might, and group projectile reflections are the most notable Guardian fortes. Possibly stability as well, but it seem so short in effect. 25% uptime is a good chunk though.
Haha, what about the pros of a Warrior?
I dislike Elementalist because of the squishiness of the class in most cases
( unless I’m playing it wrong ) and can get 1 shot by a Thief’s Backstab combo ( +11k crits )
The Engineer is fun, but requires the engagement to remain more or less in the same spot ( fighting over a point ) , but I kinda suck at that
I find the Guardian modifiers on GS skills insane in comparison to Warrior GS but what about the LB versus the Guardian Scepter? Is it any good? I’m worried about the slow AA travel speed.
I’m mainly looking for a strong class, highly capable of solo roaming, or with small groups ( 2/3 ) with strong CC and noticeable support. I want to be able to do damage and be tanky, kind of like a Brusier in other games.
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
Sounds fair. Thanks for your feedback.
I’m not sure how Barrage is that effective in 1vX’s seeing as you have to focus 1 person, not the group, else they all just heal the meagre damage while you could be doing X times more to one person by focusing. However, I do agree that LB seems to be a better choice. Sucks that I have to leave the 2sec stun.
TY again. :>
Barrage is for area denial. Drop it on a downed player, thief in shadow refuge, on yourself to get some breathing room. I’ve won a lot of fights by dropping healing spring, barrage, and fighting some people right in the center of it. You basically leave them with the choice of letting you heal up while you free fire on them or coming in to attack and eating all of that damage.
True, but Healing Spring entails you to remain in one spot, which can lead to all kinds of nasty combos, I prefer to remain mobile with TrollUnguent tbh although if my sole aim was to cap points, then I would definitely go HealingSpring as you validly pointed out.

What do you think are its weaknesses? Burst? CC Removal? I guess it would mess up the combo…
That’s 9 3/4 seconds of free damage for you and 8 1/4 for your pet. Excluding condi removal, -%duration
I’ve been using this build for pvp lately, but I was told it lacked a few things, namely condi removal.
I’ve made a new one for WvW ; killing players and I was wondering what you pros thought of it :>
I’m not sure whether SB is better than LB. I know SB is a condi weapons, but the stun is very important in the combo imo as it serves as the initiator; a disable from afar.
( SB Stun – Swap – Swoop – Entange – Dog Imob – GS Stun – Swap Pets – Wolf Fear )
A 2 + 1 1/4 + 2 1/2 + 3 + 2 1/2 —-> 11 1/4 s of disables
Thanks in advance. Feedback appreciated
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
I’m guessing the wrong bow was selected in the builder.
SB can be used in a skirmisher type build as a power weapon though. Doubling up on air and fire sigils with omnom pies/ghosts. It can go either way.
Yup, oops.
I’ve finished my build, thanks everyone!
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
Would you recommend it?
I would. It’s an amazing tool for damage, stability and hp regen.
Does it fit into this build? lel
Would you recommend it?
People say no, I have no idea, kthxbai
Dye everything in hot colours and your ausura will look hot. logic
Getting farther from Bruiser and closer to LB power ranger.
Yeap, my build is changing.
What about this?
For starters it’s Bruiser, not Brusier. And it’s not all that new of a concept.
Secondly if it’s for PvP why are you not using the PvP builder?A Moment of Clarity build for WvW/PvE (since you used that builder) might be something like what you were going for. If you need more Condi removal just swap one of the Signets for SoR.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQJAVRjEq0waFLGsw1agFhqdHcBbA7xdACAX7wBrawA-TVCFABspDQJlfYpEEgHAQhq/IwVAgm9HSTTwCHCASBUuyI-wIf you gave a better idea as to the focus of the build we could help you out a lot more. What game mode (PvP, WvW or PvE) will you be playing and what role? I know you said PvP, yet you used the PvE builder. Also, simply saying “Bruiser” and defining it as tanky DPS doesn’t say what you want out of the build. It describes the build, but describing the one you originally posted as tanky DPS is incorrect as has been pointed out. The traits are kind of all over the place.
Since you used the PvE builder, but said the build was for PvP I’m going to assume you meant WvW. In WvW you have your solo roamers, your small group (havoc) roamers, mid size skirmishes of 10-15 (includes GvG), or do you just wanna run with the blob and tag as much as possible? In the last case would you rather be running with the driver, mid-line, or back-line?
As for Might stacking during RaO goes I’d make sure you’ve got SB equipped and use a pet with a fast (1/4 sec) attack speed such as dogs, moas (extra Daze could be nice), drakes, or pigs. Devourers have a slow (1 sec) attack speed, but whether or not both barbs would count towards Might stacks I don’t know. I just built it with standard Drakehound/Wolf. Not sure how much emphasis you want to put on Might stacking during RaO if you don’t have might stacking elsewhere in the build.
Regarding LB vs SB they both have their place, but in a Bruiser type build where you’re presumably going to be in melee range (if not very close to it) SB may have an edge.
Hope this helps.
My traits are still over the place, but I’ve specialised more.
The dogs might have a faster aa, but when vs players, they’ll be dodging and strafing a lot, so a ranged pet might do more aas in the long run, right?
I’m not sure about LB/SB, but doesn’t the LB outdps the SB because of RapidFire?
Is Read he Wind good?
Why is Signet of the Hunt so popular even if it doesn’t work in combat?
Signet of Stone or Wild?
Eagle Eye or Piercing Arrows?!

A bit of everything I guess.
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
What are your thoughts on Devourers stacking up might very quickly from Rampage as One? Worth? Or is a jungle spider or something better generally?
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
@Lethal Njection This build is for PvP
@Tragic Positive Ok, here’s my response
1) I have put points into Damage ( + crits ), Vitality and Toughness. If you’ve ever played MOBA Games, you will of heard of the term, Brusier, who is a tanky-dps.
2) PvP, not PvE where you can have Guardians tank the damage.
3) If I was a glasscannon, tanks can eat up my damage and deal possibly more back because of me lacking toughness.
If I was a tank, I would deal no damage, why not be a guardian?
But I’m a Brusier, I deal damage which is noticeable, and I am survivable.
4) All-rounder, I have the EmpathicBond to counter condi classes, and I have Soldier’s to counter DPS.
Summary) Thanks for the feedback, I do admit, it’s a new to me concept, and i’ll need to test it more for it to reach it’s full potential! Have a great day <3
@shadowpass Thanks bro <3
@Prysin Whoa, thanks for taking your time to make a build!
I’m caught up with the LB/SB
The LB does less sustained damage and more of bursty damage, which isn’t what I believe Ranger is for, correct me if i’m wrong
The SB does sustained damage ( quick aa’s ) and is great for general combat because most of the time, people won’t be 1k units away, and more in your face.
I’m not sure about sigils for my bow; air/fire? I can get the stacking ones on my Warhorn.
(edited by Dragonfeu.4356)
What are your thoughts on this build? It’s an all-rounder, player-centric build which is tanky, yet deals a strong amount of damage.
/edit – My build has changed a lot throughout the course of this thread, look at my last build link to see the newest one.

Thanks Guys :d
LB = burst right?
i have tested it out, min size asura vs max size charr , hit boxes are the same.
but do they play the same? not so…
most noticeable when you go melee, small size asura hits a lot outside of their visible hitbox while big size charr hits right at their hitbox edge.
so if you are used to small asuras, you might overestimate your reach when you start playing big charrs and vice versa.
zoom levels and position of big and small characters are also miles apart. when you zoom in on an asura its perfect, when you zoom in on a big charr its horrible.
range weapons projectile will start off higher on a big character as opposed to a smaller one, which might affect whether you keep getting the “obstructed” message when you shoot at someone on say the wall of a tower in wvw with a rifle.
TLDR: go big on melee characters like warriors, go small on casters like necromancer. (mostly for wvw perspective.)
Thanks mate! Helps tons <3
Human for Ranger?
Hmmm, anyone have a definitive answer?
Besides, you still have the advantage in WvW that it’s harder to see you, right ?
( As an Asura )
There’s specific combos and builds that are very important. Most cases are self combos, but team combos can make a difference too. Here’s a couple examples:
Might stacking: Fire field + blast finisher. Ele, warrior, and engi can all self stack this with meta builds, and it’s very important.
Aoe heals: Water field + blast finisher (or leap for self heal). Ele, ranger, and engi can self combo for this. Having teammates blast ele or ranger water fields is good play.
Aoe stealth: Smoke field + blast finisher (or leaps for self stealth). Thief and engi are the field providers, anyone on the team could blast this for aoe stealth. Stealth plays can be a huge deal. There’s others that are important, but I feel like those are the biggest.
Whoa, that’s pretty cool, it’ll take me some time to learn how to optimize my DPS. Thanks for the info :>
Melee offers a high-risk-high-reward experience. Use GS with your choice of sw/wh or sw/axe or sw/dgr.
What are your thoughts about Axes vs Sword? What are the pros, cons? I’ve always liked the sword, but many other players are recommending the Axe/Warhorn set-up.
Advice appreciated :d
I’ve got another question :d
What are combos, can they enhance PvP? What kind of things do they bring? I have no idea on the matter.
/edit: enhance as in skill; can they enable you to outplay and do more dps? Like orb walking in LoL, or something like that?
Sorry if I’m confusing, I have no idea what combos are, except that they exist.
if you are referring to combo fields and finishers, a very basic example would be:
1. warrior uses long bow f1 combustive shot to create a fire field.
2. warrior uses long bow 3 arcing shot in the fire field to create a blast finisher.
3. creating a blast finisher in a field field creates area might effect
4. area might gives 20 seconds of 3 stacks of might to warrior and nearby allies
5. warrior switches to sword and axe weapon set
6. warrior uses sword 2 savage leap to create a leap finisher.
7. creating a leap finisher in a fire field creates a personal fire shield.
8. fire shield burns attackers and gives might when they attack you.
9. warrior then uses axe 5 whirling axe to create 15 whirl finishers.
10. creating 15 whirl finishers in a fire field will shoot 15 fire bolts.and this is a very basic example of combo fields and finishers.
different combo fields and finishers give different effects.more info here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo
Thanks so much! Combo’s OP!
the LB is only good in WvW imo PvE is more close up ( unless it’s a massive boss and you have 50+
Umm…wat? My LB/GS zerker power ranger rips up general PvE content like a 15 year old bully stealing lunch money from 10 year olds. Nothing survives to get close….and if it does there is Point Blank Shot or an up close and personal Maul from the GS to handle the situation.
But for your build I like the SB option as well. Good luck and happy hunting.
My bad, the LB is very strong, but mainly bursty/AOE; I think of the ranger as a sustained damaged profession, the SB giving that option with it’s quick AutoAttacks.
Thanks for the comment!
I guess it would give you a slight advantage in WvW, as players will be less likely to spot you. Does anyone know if choosing different races would affect hitbox size?
