Two thieves can be devastating. Of course people will insist it can never work and force a thief to swap to a class they are less effective with.

So apparently we’re getting a condi shortbow. I for one am very disappointed. Revenant has never been about condi. The playstyle is boring, you spam Unyielding Anguish and your mace skills of cooldown. Fun.
Revenant, for me has been all about being in Shiro, with swords, whacking things, dodging around the place. It’s a shame ANet has decided that rev’s future is condi, it seems very odd that a class that is predominantly played power because its playstyle is incredibly fun and unique is being ditched for something boring and mundane.

Wonderful. That’s just what I wanted. A previously fun and complex class reduced to utter kitten, spamming sword 1 autoattack. The balance team are a bunch of morons if they think this is balancing.
Rev will be fine and most likely still on every pro team.

That’s my problem. I’m kittening sick of ANet’s balance team ruining classes’ fun. They did that with Ele and now Rev. Awesome. You shifted what was a complex and interesting rotation to quickness spam sword 1 cleave.
hi i play revenant and i’m not happy
The only class in the game that dosent require dodging and can just spam cooldowns like blocks and invul while standing still and dropping AoE damage. Despite how easy it is to play this class it also too rewarding for the amount of effort required. It also hard counters thief, mes , warrior , necro and invo rev and the other match ups it can stalemate so basically Dh dosent even lose to any class 1v1 ( unless you use some useless build made for 1v1 )
Combine that with the fact that normal games dont have proper class distribution system and even if 2 builds out of dozens are good vs DH you will most likely not have them in your solo Q to counter a stacked Dh trapper team.
Just give me a reason to play any other classs than DH in a normal ranked or unranked game. if I can just stand still and spam AoE damage while blocking half of the time and the other half being invul.
Something needs to be done about DH . Either cut the block duration in half or make it at least weak to condis.
The fact of the matter is a stacked Dh trapper team in solo Q is nearly impossible to beat with pugs so the pro league balance dosent matter to 99% of the player base. DH trapper is very OP in normal games that are not team vs team or the pro league games. Because you cant have an optimal comp and team coordination to take this build down especially when stacked together.
Its also the only class that I see stacked the most. teams with 3 warriors, 3 thieves, 3 mesmers, 3 eles or whatever dosent happen very often compared to teams with 3 DHs. I wonder why so many people play it well I think I know why…

Just something to keep in mind, melee autoattacks are very difficult to reliably land if you don’t have a stable connection to the servers.
Apparently a 50 percent reduction is only “slightly” lessening an ability’s damage.
GG arenanet on removing revenants from pvp as well as raiding. What actually are they meant to be used for again?

In the current state rev is op as it has insane teamfight (the team with rev in the teamfight is favoured, every time) insane mobility and +1, and on top of that decent 1v1’s. The nerf to staff 5 is justified, it’ll still be rly good as utility, mass cc on stomp/ress and before burst, and it will still do good dmg, it’s just that it was op before. That nerf isn’t half the rev’s dmg, it’s like 5 or 10% total nerf to rev’s damage that was far too superior in the first place. The dmg nerf to precision is also justified. At launch it would be 1 projectile (1v1 and +1), so it will still be twice that dmg.
Ppl get stuck on the raw nerf numbers and ignore the results. If I have value of 5 and u have a value of 20, and you get nerfed by 50% and I get nerfed by 20%, ppl will still QQ about the 50% as if it killed your value compared to mine even tho I’m at 4k and ur at 10k. Rev was ridiculously strong (best class in the game) and the changes are justified, ty.

Sword 2 was the bread and butter. Staff 5 was the burst. We were essentially a bursty fighter. What’s left? Spam staff 2 because it costs 5 less energy? They nerfed the playstyle of the class and the fun of it. That’s a massive mistake to do by a balance team.
Only Hammer 2 was nerfed, its still a great Rev weapon. Couple it with a full zerker max Burst build and you can deal up to 5 digit dmg on a single CoR easy.
Plus it has a range of 1200, and can hit 5 targets. The only downside is it fire’s very slowly. So if you fighting enemies with shields, that’s when you switch to sword auto and sword 3.
Except … it’s not fun. It’s a boring huge lumbering weapon. Sword/Staff make you feel so mobile, dynamic and it really adds to the feel of the class.
Lots of great feedback in this thread! I see a lot of concern about the nerfs to revenant so I would like to discuss those a bit more.
Surge of the Mists is a skill that does everything. It evades attacks, is a massive cc, and does a huge amount of damage. The defensive capability and cc fit well with the rest of the staff set, so we felt the damage was the best spot to bring the skill down a bit. 50% is certainly a big reduction, but consider just how much damage this skill does right now. Even after the nerf it will still take a chunk out of a squishy’s health bar, in addition to providing cc setup for another skill (and teammates).
Precision Strike is another skill that we felt did too much damage on its own, particularly when all 3 projectiles hit one player. This is another case of a big reduction on a skill that does a ton of damage, resulting in a skill that still does a reasonable amount of damage.
In general, revenant isn’t lacking in sources of damage. Unrelenting Assault, Facets of Strength, Elements, and Chaos, Equilibrium, and sword autoattack are all strong damage skills as well. Precision Strike and Surge of the Mists will continue to bring relevant damage to the table, so rev should still have plenty of damage to go around.
With that said, we will definitely be keeping a close eye on things going into the season.

For me that was the October 18th patch. I was using the condi build and that one destroyed any sort of viability of condi Herald.
Due I don’t like the power Herald (I left that boat in June) as soon as the October patch killed the Glint-Mallyx build I stopped playing the class (all fronts) in the game. I care 0 about the new patch: condi is still useless, hammer is still useless, and sword and staff were previously nerfed in several occasions (Warding Rift cd went from 10s to 12 to 15 now; Surge of the Mist lost 15% damage, then another 15% and now another 50%), Precision Strike got butchered (from 600 to 450 range, from 4s cd to 5 then 6, now 33% less damage), and so on…
The Herald ranged game is a joke, the condition cleansing non-existent, the stability access is banned… The legend system makes the class unflexible, sclerotic, unable to adapt and entirely reliant on the team support. Now the “top build” is very close to lose his “competitive” status, but for months has remained unappealing to me.

This is just a point i’d like to emphasise. When balancing classes, the worst thing you can do is take away the fun of it. We saw an example of this happening with elementalists d/w and needless to say, people were salty.
With balance changes coming up on December 13th, i’d like ANet to consider that.
Revenant is in an interesting place in PvP. It’s undoubtedly one of the more difficult professions to play, but when mastered it is devastating on the battlefield. We’re going to bring some elements of the main power build down slightly,
- Surge of the Mists: The damage of this ability has been reduced by 50% in PvP only.
- Precision Strike: The damage of this ability has been reduced by 33% in PvP only.
Yea. Initially, they were like " Okay team, we’ll do this properly ". Then they got carried away.
" 12 seconds? Nah mate, let’s round that to 15 "
" Surge of the Mists? What’s a nice round number to nerf it by? 100%? Nahh, we’ll tone it down to 50% , looks better on paper "
Revenant has no place in raids and now gutted in pvp.
I’m guessing you’re aiming to popularise condi rev by nerfing staff/buffing mallyx but it’s plagued with bugs.

I have primarily used Revenant since HoT but am concerned about build variety. Everyone is expecting power Shiro / Glint, and it has a some severe vulnerabilities for counterplay. I played Engi almost exclusively until HoT so should be able to get back into it quickly. I’ve also played Thief a in previous seasons and am reasonably experienced with Warrior. I would probably not play Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, or Necro, as I haven’t played them enough to be competitive by the start of season 5.
Feel free to chime in on how you think any profession or build will perform this season.
Hey, i’m in the same boat as you, I mained revenant last season, but only played it in unranked because I got destroyed by condis. I swapped to mesmer/engi/ele and got to diamond.
warrior should be in a good spot for season 5.
Do any of you honestly expect the current ‘balance’ team to make any positive changes anyway? Until they get someone who actually understands and cares about the game in charge of balance it’s not going to be getting any better.
Almost every patch, they are making the game for the better.
The only complain I have is it is too infrequent.

Yeah, the point of precursor crafting was to provide a guaranteed method of obtaining a precursor that doesn’t involve simply buying it from the TP. They never said it’d be a cheaper way to do it.

Focused Solar Logging Tool does 4 gathers per click instead of 3, which is nice for when the WvW bonus grants extra swings.
Likewise the Glitter Bomb Harvesting Tool does 3 gathers per click instead of 1. Again, nice for wvw bonus gathers, and perfect for guild hall harvesting.
Nothing compares to the Watchwork Mining Pick though.

plus shiro/herald. there’s always the argument that other classes do x better, but I think rev is in a good place and shouldn’t be cheated of a place in high end fractals. my only issue with rev are the bugs and lack of builds we can utilise (for example, legends are inherently aligned with a certain playstyle, shiro with power) and other builds, for example condi, are laughable bad

- Google will have a latency of around 20ms, probably way less than your connection to the game servers. This isn’t important. What you’re looking for is latency spikes. If both spike at the same time, then that means that it’s you that’s lagging out. If it’s just GW2, then it’s them

Now that there’s leather which has dramatically risen in price, is it still profitable to open bags on a level 53 light armour or is it better to open them on, say, a lvl 80 medium armour class.
Furthermore, i’m not sure which bags to open on a lvl 80 and which bags to open on a 53. I know that the SW bags should be opened on a 53 and that bags that give 1x rare gear should be opened on a lvl 80, but that’s about it..

At the very end, the opening cutscene refers to Zhaitan as an " it ", thus not defining the dragon’s gender. Thus it would be possible for Zhaitan to have been female, opening new possiblities …

Basically where every your’s is, mine is there too. It only contains those files. This isn’t the file that contains the gw2.dat ( 25gb ). But it might be part of that folder.

For me, the daily grind gold routine involving dungeons was amazing. 1.5g every run. You could see the progression. Now, the rewards are a bit more abstract with the fractals. I know there’s still dailies and stuff I can do everyday to compensate, but idk, I feel like dungeons were a great driving force for me to log on everyday. Anyone else feel the same? What can I do instead?
People taking a break till new content comes out is not dying. You’ll see more videos when the new raid wing hits, for example, which should be very soon. WvW is busier than it was six months ago. PvP is relatively busy for the season.
But yeah, this is the traffic pattern we’ve seen since launch. Die hard players stay and play all the time, the rest of the players come back when there’s new content.
Also for a lot of stuff, videos really don’t tell the whole story. For example people did come back to get their bandit kills and do the new achievements, but who’s going to make a video of that?
How’s WvW? Is it basically the same old Alpine Borderlands or did they change stuff up ( merge the desert borderlands mechanics or something )

I’ve reached the end-game. I have 5 k AP, so I feel like I’ve had a feel for the game, but I’m getting bored.
I have LS2, so I might do the story, but tbh, it doesn’t seem very interesting.

Open World is great fun, but too easy
