Hey guys,

I love the game but I’m frustrated sometimes at the Black Lion Trading Company.

Would you please, please, please make the filter choices more extensive? Specifically, would you add a filter that lets me search BY PROFESSION? A specific radio switch, like the one for “Show Only Available” would be best.

Right now I have to sort through a whole ton of stuff that doesn’t suit my profession (or the professions of guild mates).

Adding a simple filter for this would really help.

Unless, of course, there is already a filter for this someplace and I don’t know about it.

If there already is a filter for this would someone reply to this topic and let me know how I can find it?

That is the clue I was going to drop.

There are lots of complaints/observations that there is an end-game “grind” in GW2.

How could you possibly design an MMO that wasn’t to a certain extent “grindy”?

This game offers a whole ton of stuff to do and ways to enjoy end-game, none of which are mandatory. You can pick and choose what you want to do.

I’m not sure that there is ANY way to make an MMO (sandbox or theme park) not “grindy” in some respect at end-game.

I don’t get it.

So, I have two questions for anyone, but especially people who think the game is too “grindy”.

1. How would you structure the game to avoid this problem?

2. Does any MMO completely remove this, in your opinion?

This is quite fine as it is.

I like the new dailies. I like getting level appropriate stuff (for my true level) in the areas where I’m levelled down. It makes it fun to go back to areas I’ve already explored.

There sound like there are a few hiccups in some of the dailies but hopefully they won’t last long.

Thanks for the feedback on the Living Story portion of Flame and Frost: Prelude. Here’s some context on how it works:

• The Flame and Frost story content progresses over time. You will not see everything today, tomorrow, or even the next day.
• Expect subtle changes at first. Maybe you’ll encounter some familiar characters. Perhaps you’ll be introduced to some new ones. You might see a new structure where there wasn’t one before.
• The Living Story content is initially about the thrill of discovery. We’ll put some markers on your map, maybe send you a letter, or parcel out details through certain characters, but the rest is up to you.
• As the weeks progress, you’ll notice bigger changes in the world. New events may appear. Plots will advance and characters will develop.

As always, we welcome your opinions. This is a new thing we’re trying so we appreciate your patience and input.

I hate to say this but it would be good to drop a hint like this (even if it is more subtle than what you have said above) before the “event” starts, especially if it it going to start off with “subtle” changes (I’m pretty thick).

Unless you already did drop the hints someplace that I can’t or haven’t found.

9)Have veteran and Champion mobs give consistently higher level quality items with a rare chance of getting something amazing.

10)Anet will be out of business if I do not take care of the gem shop. Various special skins, that look good, will be released. BL chests will include better loot (I will make players excited at what they will get, like a child opening a Christmas present). If my players seem scammed after opening a chest, I will NOT have repeat customers. Common sense business tells me that repeat customers are better than ripping them off for a quick buck. BL chests will probably rise a bit in price though.

Please do fix the scaling but don’t get rid of it entirely (as I have seen suggested).

Playing in lower areas is fun and challenging when downscaled. It gives me a reason to go back and explore. It also lets me have some fun with lower level friends, without one-shotting everything for them.

In the update notes it says that there are event heralds in several cities to keep people up to date.

Maybe check out the cities to find out?

I’m not sure how far along you are with your character, so I’m going to assume that you are starting out. I see that you think that you do barely any damage. The weapons you use have a big effect. Go with a S/D or D/D build, if you don’t already. S/D is probably more balanced. If you know this already, please ignore my prattling on.

Then delving into traits and Slot Skills (which is a whole can of worms) is a bit more tricky. I have found that sometimes what other people post doesn’t work for me. I’m certain that this is because of my play style (how fast I can move my fingers, how bad my repetitive stress injury from playing GW2 is).

The type of foe you are facing also has an effect. If you are fighting something faster than you, what they are resistant to, what boons they have and their number, etc. all affect what you should equip and what skills you should use. Traits can even be rejigged depending on who the big bad is.

There are numerous builds posted in these forums that you might find useful. Try a few and tweak them to suit your style.

It would be nice to have the same content but for it to last longer (like Wintersday).

It would be better for those of us that did the stuff the first time to have some new content added, though.

Love the game.

I suggest that in the future the characters be given a chance to learn new weapon skills and have them placed as they wish in the Weapon Skills (like we can in the Slot Skills).

It might create a bit more variability for character customization.

These could be bought for karma, gold or be found after doing map completions, viewpoints or puzzles.

Also, you could expand the range of Traits in each trait line.

Does anyone else like this idea?

I play PvE pretty much exclusively but I have no problem with this.

I can grab a PUG if I need to.

Sometimes the gifts you hope for are not given to you and you actually do get crappy socks, sweaters or hats.

I’m ok with it. It makes me chuckle when I get boned this way, which is the whole point. Besides, you can’t really get anything that will make a big difference in how you play the game.

Armor of Earth>Open The Box> Earthquake>Churning Earth>Ring of Earth>Switch to fire>Burning Speed>Ring of Fire>Drake’s Breath

Then just dodge roll twice while the condition damage does it’s magic and they’re pretty much all down to one hit or already dead.

I also like to equip both elementals for this.

Armor of Earth —→ Both elementals --→ Open Box, then pretty much the same as you. The elementals give you more chance to attune to Water if you need to heal because they tend to draw aggro. You can also stand back a bit and nail the princesses with ranged attacks or AoE attacks.

Failing this, grab the gift and run like blazes. The elementals will keep them busy while you exit like a frightened child.

Any plans to make a smart phone app that we could use for trading and guild management (research/building)?

I would find something like this very useful for those times when I can’t actually be playing.

My suggestions to ANet:

I really like the idea of the special events.

Run them for a whole week. I have to work so I can eat so I can play this game.

Start on Saturday late morning for the Euro and North America servers separately. End the events the following Sunday in the evening. This gives the players in both locations the opportunity to play the event for an equal amount of time. Heck, you could even have the events last for 10 days if you want to keep people interested and if you have the staff to make the events a bit longer.

There is a bunch of controversy about the new armor set. Make it findable/craftable/purchasable through other means than pure grinding.

We can keep this game fresh and give everyone a fair shake at the events and at the new armor sets.

Only time I’ve been instagibbed is when I was jumped by multiple people. That said, we make better wingmen than point men. Imagine how hard that HB Warrior or HS Thief is going to hit when you’ve pumped 10 stacks of might on them and 15 stacks of vulnerability on your target, not counting all the CC and defensive stuff you can throw down to make sure your side gets the kill.

In a team environment running an ele seems best if they are mostly used with a staff as a support class. If you really want to try a not bad DPS type build with some good conditions, try a scepter/dagger build.

Hey all,

I just spoke to the person in the plaza with the ghost beside her. I’m scanning all over the plaza for more disturbances but nothing seems to be happening. My progress bar for this quest line is stuck at about 80%

What am I doing wrong?

@ Crunchy Gremlin: I completely agree, if I’m in some type of enclosed space or in limited space, my ele can get boned pretty hard.

We need to kite to be successful.

Yah, the downed state is really just a short, frustrating rest before you die.

I feel that it is just ANet’s way of rubbing it in that I got downed in the first place.

Mist Form might actually be useful if you could not be tracked while in it. As it is, the guys who downed me just follow the smoke trail and kick me in the kittens when I become corporeal.

Spam as many keys as I can and run/dodge/hide as best I can. The weapons don’t matter as much as the calluses on my fingers.

If you are not throwing out skills and moving, dodging and winding every second, you are a dead elementalist.

These are excellent questions. I would love to get a more objective idea of what happens when a skill is used.

Casting time?, will movement break it being cast?, does the animation directly demonstrate when something is cast (or is there a delay)?, can it be cast at the same time something else is cast?, does the whole cast bar have to happen before it works (or works fully)? I have lots of questions like this.

This should all be included in the skill descriptions when you mouse over them and it would make it much easier to tune combinations.

Do you (or anyone else) find that making a specific build is easier if you start from the ELITE skill and work backwards, to maximize it’s potential?

The problem with this is that when you are downed, you are badly damaged (by definition).

When Mist Form goes off, you get to run for a few seconds, then you become solid and ready to be hit again. Because Mist Form shows where you are going, everyone just aims at where you are going and blasts you. Then you pretty much die tired.

This would be better if it either had a longer duration or if you could not be seen (or be seen with less certainty). Maybe you could be replaced by a slowly expanding fog and be free to run inside it (in whatever direction you choose) before you become solid again?

I hate to ask, but could you run these numbers with an elementalist?

I would like to know if the thief is better or if the elementalist is better. Are these findings the same for all classes?

Sure.

It needs to be played moving quickly and carefully switching attunements. You need good finger dexterity or a multi button gaming mouse.

Is there a place where the casing times for various skills is listed? How about which ones need you to be stationary? Which ones can be cast without interrupting another?

There is very little on these topics in the wiki and the in-game descriptions are not much help.

Is there a resource that has this information some place?

I know this forum is for tech support but there are no other Mac specific forums.

Does anyone here use a gaming mouse on their Mac? If so, which one and why? I want to try to use one but my favourite one (the Logitech G700) is only for PC.

Also, is there some sort of emulator/workaround that I can find so I can use that G700?

The way this profession is played, I’m always switching attunement and doing a lot of moving and dodging. Doing this lets me use the elementalist skillset to maximum benefit.

The problem I run into is that I bind my movement keys, abilities keys (1,2,3,4) and attunement keys (F1,F2,F3,F4) to the default settings.

This is quite a bit of work and requires a bunch of dexterity (which isn’t my strong suit).

How do you guys get around this? Or are you all much more dextrous than me? I use a standard two button mouse BTW.

I recently bought myself a thirteen inch Mac Book Pro. Guild Wars 2 runs great on it, however the MBP can get very hot at the bottom. I downloaded a program called SMCFanControl, this handy program lets me control my MBP fan RPM. I currently keep the fan RPM at 4,200- 5,600. I don’t want the fan RPM to be too fast (Don’t want it to blow out on me) I also don’t want my computer internal hardware to melt. Does anybody know what my RPM should be at to sufficiently keep the MBP somewhat cooler? Any tips would be great to fix this heat problem.
