I just wish that they would add some sort of NPC support (like GW1) so we can do all of the content without having to find a 5 man group. These living story events, with the need for a multi person group to complete, frustrate me no end (especially with no LFG tool). Standing there and spamming chat can be a huge PITA when you need to find a group of 5.
The same goes for the personal story.
The rest of the stuff seems ok, but for me personally, the lack of a way to get through the end of these events pretty much excludes me from them. I have a busy personal schedule and waiting for a group burns my gaming time. Needing 5 people is a bit much. Could this be reduced to 2 or 3?
5/10 for me.
So why not join a casual guild. Then you’d have people ready to play with you and you can just get a group together in guild chat. My group does it all the time.
Good point. And one I frequently see in these forums.
If a guild is too casual then it is either too small to have enough players on at any given time or the players are not bound together enough to play regularly or cohesively. Casual guilds are also very fluid in terms of keeping players (or even existing for long).
Also it is kind of cheesy for me to join a guild with the sole purpose of competing only my story. I’d have to lie my way in or play with them so seldom (only when I want to do personal content) that the rest of the guild would feel manipulated.
Obviously, hard-core guilds require mandatory play at certain times, practices and guaranteed participation in various events and use of voice comms. Not my cup of tea.
Yes, this is selfish but this is MY game and it was advertised as being a game that I could play solo (one would think this would be true especially for the main story and special events).
I can see how grouping would be necessary for regular dungeons but the main story line should be soloable or it should be supported by NPCs that can help finish content.
Don’t join a guild just to do your story. Join a guild to find some nice people who ALL want to finish their story. lol
We have about 80 people in my guild, about 20-30 people who are on all the time, and we’re real casual. People can represent or not, if they want.
But if you don’t like the patch because you can’t get content done…join a guild. One day you do the content you want because you need that and another time, maybe you give back to the guild by helping someone else with a skill point or a vista, or even a dungeon. You might find you just enjoy the game even more with the right people playing.
Basically it’s something you can do to fix the problem. Rating down the patch for it, I’m not sure that’s really fair.
Ok. Sounds good.
Can I join your guild?

Ok, you advertised the game that partying isn’t necessary but it seems that you just focus on ending storylines only in party based dungeons: personal story and now this living story.
Why don’t you make a scale down system if there are less people in the party?
This a million times over.
One of the reasons I bought this game was because forming parties was not supposed to be necessary to complete the content. Now I’m stuck with a bunch of incomplete stuff sitting on my to-do list.
Lack of a LFG tool is probably because the game was advertised and designed to allow players to do the basic content without grouping.
I can sort of see mandatory groups for dungeons. To complete the personal story and living story content please give me NPCs to help or scale the content to group size (even if it is only me).

I wish they would either scale the content for story dungeons to group size (1 through 5) or give us a few NPC heroes to take with us.
Why not? They gave us Rox and Braham. All they need to do is add add up to 4 NPCs and then everyone would be happy.
I’m an athiest, too. Religion in this game is a fairly good way to add depth to characters and the game itself.
I’m not insulted by it or anything. Besides, religions of odd types are pretty much a trope in fantasy-type games and fantasy literature.
I agree with the above post. The name of the game is GUILD WARS 2.
As well as what they have already, there should be guild wars, too.
Guild versus Guild.
Sorry for the pun.
Get behind them. It works great.
The important thing is having fun.
As far as “hardcore”, I’d say the definition is someone who plays more than two hours per day, wears a diaper so they don’t have to pee during the game and someone who knows – to the minute – when big bosses spawn.
Oh, and if everyone in-game knows you, you are definitely “hardcore”.
It is a sonic periscope. It is part of the Flame and Frost content update.
Look in your character console under Living Story for the stuff you need to do to complete its contents. Also, blow up the periscopes if you can find them.
OTOH…how about ArenaNet let the races kludge together something that allows players to visit a dreamstate or spirit realm or some such where these events are eternally active? That way new players can see a recreation of the event (and more importantly, get the achievements and loot from it! ;-) ), without having to keep them active world-wide. A Tyrian version of Paragon City’s Ouroboros, if you will..
Neat idea. Or they could make a library in LA. If you take out a specific book about a past event you can read about each event … but instead of “reading” about the event, you could play through the event and get the rewards.
Thank you all for your posts here and the PM’s I have gotten from others.
I am looking through all of your websites and looking for people from your guilds in-game. If I can find any of you I’d like to play with you a bit.
I look forward to meeting you.
It should never, never end.
Maybe they should try Bacontoberfest? Or Baconvember?
If you see me in-game give me a shout. I collect dandelions and store them in my bank.
If you have a fun guild with no head-games, friendly and mature folks, answer here or drop me a PM.
I’m not interested in hardcore anything but I love to have fun when I’m gaming and gaming with like-minded folks is the best it can get.
No pix for leather?
Mmmm … leather.
Watch for the sudden snow storms. All over the Wayfarer Foothills. They appear when the vents are venting (the ones you have to plug). That is pretty much “Frost”.
“Flame” is pretty much all the “gates” are (the ones the bad guys spawn from).
Then there’s the char (Flame Legion) and norn thing; flame and frost, respectively.
Go with an Elementalist and equip the Lesser Elemental and Greater Elemental (type doesn’t matter). They don’t seem to get knocked back. When you are down, the summoned elementals keep flailing away.
Throw on some stability stuff and you should be set.
Alternatively, try ranged attacks and let your companion bash at the periscopes (while healing them).
It would be nice to be able to read through your forums in order to get some idea of what type of group you are. The ones I can access are pretty much limited to what I need to know to apply and some information about your guild.
My 2 cents.
Thanks!
XXXXXX (makes 15 characters).
The title says it all.
I’m a member of a small guild that I’ve played with in multiple games but I’d like to play with a larger guild because the smaller guild isn’t that active.
More titles would be cool and easy to implement.
It’s funny that the norn shelters are under contruction, barely started, but the huge ale kegs are already in place.
At least they have their priorities straight.
I think they are all in that camp in LA.
Thanks bro. Got ’em now.
Why the heck would they go there? That place is DANGEROUS.
Plenty of sunshine, beautiful beaches, and all the passion fruit you can eat. I mean, sure, there are giant crab-octopus monsters that will eat your face…but what paradise doesn’t have its share of problems?
Heck, I don’t even like playing there that much.
Why the heck would they go there? That place is DANGEROUS.
Because the Consortium is handling the relocation of those refugees. They were the ones that tried to make Southsun Cove into a destination vacation resort, so it wouldn’t surprise me they’re using this as a means to get people onto that island.
Cool vacation: run and gun without getting any sleep for the rest of your life!
The Molten Alliance must be pretty bad if refugees want to live in Southsun Cove.
Well, he IS lost. Maybe he’s stupid, too.
Why the heck would they go there? That place is DANGEROUS.
Hey all,
Are all 6 of the lost items in game yet? I have 4, should I be looking for the full set yet?
Thanks in advance.
Hey all,
Are the four out of six refugee items the only ones that are currently available? Will the other two be available soon?
You can simply change servers instead.
There is sooooo much stuff to pick and choose from in this game.
I just don’t know why people can’t find stuff to keep them interested and engaged.
I really like this game.
If you don’t like the game then you don’t like the game. You might have to look elsewhere. I hope you find what you are looking for.
Because, while there are plenty of extrinsic rewards, there are very few intrinsic rewards. It’s only fun to grind your legendary or exotic gear for so long, and then you look at it and say, “why the hell did I bother doing this?” And then you realize, the content in this game is very rarely fun or challenging past level 40.
Well, I respect your opinion. I don’t grind legendaries or exotics because I find it boring.
So I do the other stuff – and there are tons and tons of other things to do. I just don’t get it.
Honestly, this is not a flame. I really don’t get it.
Are there any things that you would add that would make the game (or any MMO) more diverse and engaging at end-game? This is an honest question: what things could any company do with any MMO at end-game that GW2 doesn’t already do?
Edit: If you could come up with a concrete, well thought out answer to this question you would make millions of dollars.

I would have put Mimes at no 1 but appart from that 100%
That guy is all 3!
1. Undead.
2. Doing the hi to Hitler.
3. Mime.
You haven’t been able to get it because there has been nothing to get.
So whats the point in doing the living story if there’s ‘nothing to get’? Is it just another time sink?
If they add content there has to be a benefit for both the player and the developer or we end up with useless content which takes the developers away from fixing real issues with the game.
I hate to say this dude, but games are all time sinks. Every game from Tic-Tac-Toe through to the most sophisticated computer games.
Besides, if you don’t like the new content, don’t play it. I happen to like it.
Also, there are less and less real issues with the game with each patch. I have to say that the game is actually pretty good with respect to bugs/glitches.
I know you guys are incapable of finding the right information on the living story, which totally isn’t (completely) your fault, but i just want to put this here:
From the GuildWars2.com main web site blog:
Living story article – Angel Leigh McCoyThese first couple months of teaser content have allowed us to ramp up to make the long-term Living Story an even fuller and more satisfying experience for you all. As designers have come off other projects and joined us, we’ve increased the amount of content we’ll be delivering, starting at the end of March.
This.
We got in-game messages to look for heralds in various places (these were indicated with stars).
The first instalment required us to fix a bunch of signs, if you followed the signs you fixed, it lead you to the area where all the bad stuff was first noticed. In these areas, you found dead refugees and got some of their items to give to the people waiting in tents at the side of the road. These people needed comfort and you could help them by lighting their fires. The stream of live refugees was headed straight to Lion’s Arch, where their camp is.
The second instalment required that you find specific lost items and return them to specific NPC’s, from them you could learn some of the backstory and that they plan to move to Southsun Cove. Information from the NPC’s sent us to explore the regions where the refugees were coming from and to find the portals where the bad guys were attacking from. We needed to kill a certain number of the bad guys and also learn that they are Dredge and Charr of the Blood legion. There are also hints of what types of dangers we will face when we get deeper into the plot (at least two of the refugees go into specifics about the types of attacks they faced and the results of those attacks).
All of these things were helped by talking to real players in map chat. Because some of the items were in different places at different times, it gave us the opportunity to search in groups. During all of this searching and time in the two regions, I was able to finish all of my dailies, since some of them required you to be in those specific areas.
All of this time we are left to wonder how this TEASER material will unfold.
I like it and I hope they do this more.
I think being somewhat lost adds to the mystery of what is going on. I like having to look for stuff and find clues. I like that the stuff you have to find isn’t always in the same place. I like that it is unfolding slowly and not over a weekend. I like the story.
I like not being able to follow some recipe from a website that gives complete walkthroughs. I like that there isn’t a dedicated forum to discuss this event.
I like chatting to other players in map chat while looking for clues and trying to find out what to try next or how to begin various parts of the event.
If I want the typical MMO type tasks/quests, there are a ton of them already in this game. Go do them if that is what you want. None of the specific parts of the game are required after 80. Just do the stuff you want.
I like it the way it is. Please Anet, don’t change these events. In fact, give us more in the future.

For general pve you dont really need one
General PVE is so easy you don’t even need other players.
For Story Modes you do.
How many times I need to beg help arround to do a story mode… —’
REALLY.
I thought we needed a group to complete the personal stories.
Go into them …
You never know what stuff you will find. This game has a truck-load of hidden stuff. All of it is cool content.
Explore, explore, explore.
I haven’t finished my main story yet and I’m a casual player. My wife and I play together one or two hours a week.
I’ve heard that you can’t complete your story without a team of other players. Is this true?
My female necromancer: Nasty Spice.
This would only split the community up.
Ooops my bad. The topic name was edited when you were answering.
This answers my question. I have the title. Now I’ll wait for the next bit.
Thanks
Hey all,
So far all I can find is the quest to help refugees. I finished that one. None of the NPCs that notify you about the quest line have anything new to say. Is it finished or is this first part finished and we are waiting for the next part?
I just don’t want to be missing content.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Not too worried about this. There are many places where you can find mobs to dodge and heal allies.
Anyone else?
There are some good ideas here.
Yes, could you make them a noticeable color or put the “glitter” effect on them like you do with lootable corpses?
