In before lock. Just report them and move on—simple.
Im done with reporting, and bug hunting in betas, only to see nothing happen… this kind of stuff is going on for way to much now, its time we players stand up and start demanding some of the quality it was promised. For comparison, the rune of the pack its bugged since the last public weekend beta, ive reported it along with others, to this day it hasnt been fixed, and its only change a few code lines. It has power and other attribute swaped around. How long does it take to change this code lines?? And the hacking its horrendus. Go WWW and watch ppl literally move at the speed of light. Without swiftness. And teleporting rangers. And so on and so forth.
Yes, the title says most of it, its hilarious that this kind of things are happening IN THE OFFICIAL FORUM!!
But,to put the in context why this is hilarious, let me first say, in order of annoyance, what bothers me the most in this game:
- Hackers and exploiters, i play clean, i expect others to play clean as well, so this is number one. This game is riddled with them;
-Bugs, noone likes them, even in real life we tend to squash bugs, this game is the virtual equivalent to a nest of kittenroaches.
Having said this, im expecting both issues to be dealt with by Anet, as im sure every decent person is, too. But, lo and behold, this is the private message that was sent to me today:
“Dear hero _
Merry Christmas!
Cheapest Gw2 gold is now on hot sales on <pvpbank.com> 500G+30G=115Usd,2000G+200G=450Usd,4%-10% extra.delivery in 10min,Purchase now!
Sincerely,have a good day!
<pvpbank.com>”
The sender of this hilarious message goes by the ID of fdsjtew.8936, so Anet, whats it gonna be now? I know, im gonna get an infraction and maybe even a ban for divulging this, but as a COSTUMER who has PREPURCHASED the game on the 20th of April, and thus payed in a LOT of advance to a product that was expected to live to the high standards of the so called “Triple A” qualification, i find this unaceptable. Its not the message or gold selling that bothers me, as i will never fall in this sort of scheme, its that it can go this length…
If gold selling can be found RIGHT at the doorstep of anets forums, how am i gonna believe that the most bothering issues (hacking, cheating and bugs) are ever gonna be cleared?
For more details, i allow you at ANET to go see my inbox in this forum, i wont delete the message so as to you guys see it. Please tell me this a joke from you, kinda april’s fools joke.
Signed: an unhappy costumer, in anticipation already waiting for infraction/ban as its usually in this house, (or so i heard, maybe im wrong) since even if we see hacks going, we cant report with fear of being infracted. This is outrageous.
Cluster Bomb has a 1.452 ratio, an activation time of ~0.95 seconds, and an initiative cost of 3. It also gives a single stack of bleed on hit (or 3 if detonated perfectly).
Unload has a 2.4 ratio, an activation time of ~2.2 seconds, and an initiative cost of 5.
Taking the opportunity cost of auto-attacking into account, and assuming a full dunk spec (which gives 1 second of bleed ~=0.025 ratio), you get that Cluster Bomb adds 1.002 ratio worth of damage for 3 initiative, while Unload adds 1.15 ratio for 5 initiative.
As far as rotations go, ‘Cluster Bomb, Trick Shot, Cluster Bomb, Trick Shot’ has roughly the same DPS as 100% Unload spam uptime; Cluster Bombs with 2 Trick Shots in between have the same DPS as Unload alternated with a single Vital Shot.
The DPS advantages of Unload come from being able to trait the damage up a bit higher, and from the skill being much easier to hit against targets that don’t just stand there. As a secondary weapon set against stationary PvE boss encounters, Short Bow is going to deliver just as much damage as Unload spam.
Care to explain this maths and language to me plz? What do you mean by ratio? 2.4 ratio for unload? is this the skill modifier for unload? Im genuinely confused here…
I have a good feeling about this thread.

Its ok to ask, but in this case you only need ingame mechanics, like i use all the time when possible. When I refer to " ppl" instead of you, Incurafy, i mean that this happens a lot with other ppl as well, some stuff its just easy to test as this one. For me its just being lazy, dont get offended by this, but thats what it is in most cases.
I dont know if you read my reply to lolhana, but i assume you did, as you can see i was wrong about WWW; about a month ago, way after the Nov patch and the testing that i linked, someone brought a thread saying that the sigil/rune was working in pvp again, so i went to test it, and unfortunately it was not true, so i assumed things were still the same, but after too many responses here saying that outside PvP the sigil/rune was working, i decided to try again last night, just to clarify, so i went to www and bought a sigil; as it turned out, after i tested it in the first mob i saw, it was clear that the daze was being affected by the sigil, so testing it and not being lazy worked out in explendid news to me and therefore i made a post apoligizing for my mistake. If it wasnt for this i would still be thinking daze was lasting 2 secs, now with just a puny sigil (costed me 8 silver last night) i get 50% extra daze on tactical, its time to dress me in beserker gear in www and use my favourite weapon set again, P/D was being extremely boring.
Eduardo does not know what he is talking about.
I am confident that outside of sPvP, one Paralyzation Sigil is sufficient to boost Tactical Strike’s daze to 3 seconds.
Anyone who doubts this can easily test for themselves. Superior Sigil of Paralyzation is dirt cheap; in fact you can even test it with the Minor Sigil since it’ll round up to 3 seconds anyway. If the Daze ends at the same time as your Revealed, its duration is 3 seconds.
Actually, you’re right. It was reverted in www. When i tested it, after the 15th Nov, it was equal. I bought a sigil again and tested it, it does gives you 3 secs in www, so i guess its the same for pve. As for PVP, it stays the same, 2 seconds only. I apologize to having induce ppl in error, i thought it was still the same. The thread where this was tested in this link: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/S-D-damage-nerfed-more-than-D-D-Math/first
It does not work. Tactic strike is not affected by either sigil of paralyze or mesmer rune. Either in WWW or SPVP. I dont know about PVE, but i doubt it. It was tested by me and 2 other ppl a looong time ago, after the 15th Nov patch. I used ingame mechanics: the sword autoattack chain is 2.4 secs long, with the first 2 hits totalling 1.5 secs to land, and the last strike 0.9 secs to land (it also is the one that cripples and weakens, besides doing the most dmg, so its natural it works this way), so, if i land tactical strike and follow up with autoattacks, the daze should end exactly as the second hit lands, however the daze ends a fraction of a second BEFORE the 3rd hit lands; its easy to test, turn on autoattack and use it on mobs in WWW, or test in dummies in the mists or 8vs8 hotjoin, if you do, you’ll see the daze ending right before the cripple icon appears, and clearly after the second sword hit lands. In fact, the daze lasts 2 seconds, not 1.5, but is unaffected by sigil/rune, so you can bring your best rune into the game and have 2secs daze from tactical strike. The other 2 ppl that tested it used fraps, one of them slowed down the footage to only 10% speed, so it was easier to see and measure, the other person used fraps and counted frames, they both came out with 1.9/2.0 secs time for daze, with or without sigil/rune.
@Scizzor: no it doesnt work, and tactical strike its not a stun; those results were before the 15th Nov patch, where they used to work, now they dont.
Also, instead of asking, with an almost demading tone, why dont you guys go out and test yourselves? This facts were posted ages ago, for the best interest of forum goers/players, and at the time noone seemed interested, they were even disputed, now people are asking?
@ ANET
PS: After reading my post, i couldnt believe. The game is riddled with bugs and hackers, and now its the forums. I swear i didnt write that nonsense that was first posted, after i first get the 502 error. Fix this, plz. But first fix the game.
(edited by Eduardo.4675)
The only way to fix underwater combat is by removing the water.
This game has about zero chance of e-sport. It’s broken and jacked up in so many ways it’s not even funny. Lose the faith and find something else to e-sport in.
Really? Thanks, Captain Obvious.
As a mather of fact, daze really locks out skills, wheter utility or not, however, what you see mostly is thieves, that like me, use blinding powder, because this particular skill acts like a stun breaker, in the sense that is a skill that is not disabled by any other skill, wheter is a stun, daze, KD, watever. It doesnt break stuns, ull still be stuned or dazed or KDed, but since you can use it , you go imediatelly invisible. Combined with shadow embrace, for example, it removes immobilize instantly, and efectivally works pretty much as a CC breaker in a lot of situations, specially when your opponent opens up with immo and forges to cover with another condition. This skill has another peculiarity, despite being insta cast, you cannot cast in mid stomp, like SoS, if you do so, ull interrupt the stomp.
What do you mean the burst/aoe/bunker nerf is incoming? its today/tonight?
1-Seeing Jumper on his (probably) newly made necro getting brutally stomped, he is the highest ranked player by a huge margin there (rank 54);
-200 games on Necro.
-76% Win rate (6% higher than Thief). Mostly hotjoins. (43/52, 83% for Tournies)
-It’s pretty hard to get a decent score when you get put on the losing team with 1 minute left.
Don’t take things out of context.
It should be pretty obvious that my comment was aimed at being humorous, and that is because the OP is a notorious customer of the CRY SHOP; the thief shelf in the store has literally ran out of QQ threads due to the actions of this man alone, he dies and cries like a Barbie in all of his hotjoin matches where there are thieves (basically all games). However, since you seem to have a distinct absence of sense of humor (despite ur pittyful attempts with all ur guardian videos, etc. and consequent threads), i will indulge MYSELF in responding to you.
You said that i was out of context, but what do you mean? you were stomped brutally (500-63), that is NOT debatable, one only needs 1 functioning eye to see that on the screen; that is my case, my right eye is what you english speakers call “lazy eye”, so it only took my left eye to aknowledge this reality.
You are the highest ranked player in that match, again NOT debatable, one only needs a brain that knows the basics of the decimal numeration system, despite this being a computer game and computers use mostly the binary system, the truth is that most players need something to confort their big e-pins and thus works as some sort of reassurance, thats why we use the decimal system instead of binary, after all 54 is a number very “kitten conforting” when compared to 36, how could you have a sense of reassurance if ur rank was 10110, while that other guys was 100100?
The necro part, which you are quoting, contains a parentheses, that i strategically put there just to defend myself in case i came across a guy with a whooping total of 200 games played on a necro, see, i only saw ur thief videos, and the ocasional guardian troll video, i never saw you playing a necro before, thats why i thought you were a “newly made necro”, but, just in case, i slammed a “probably” in there, even i can be wrong sometimes (very rare cases, though).
However, on the score part, there is no way on earth that i could have known that you just entered the game with 1 minute left to play, i apologize for that, you made a lot in 60 seconds, scoring 30 points and considering the distance one has to travel from base to any place where the action is and score some kills and cap some points to total those 30 points is a lot of work. Unless they were spawn camping you. Oh wait, 500-63?
PS: I have a swim cap that looks a lot like the “bonnet” you use on ur videos, i allways have a sense of relief when i finish my swimming sessions: “uuf, finally, back to handsome again.”
We know the game is dying when necromancers start using their powers on threads instead of players.
Indeed, this thread needs moar slick shoes.
Schwahrheit: Hilarious post. best of the day. and this day had some of the best ever,so urs is a guiness winner.
You can download and use my spreadsheet if you’re interested in all that work; ull need Microsoft Office or Open Office, but it has some areas that will help with the “relative dmg”. Link:

1. dodge.
2. roll an elementalist and just laugh.A thief doing this wil lburn through his initative, if you dodge, once his energy is spent he is done for.
The thing, daydream, is that the OP IS AN ELEMENTALIST… his name is The Scarlet Wind, he should have 10 points into water for vigor and regen upon use of cantrips (at least ten points, although i advise full 30) and another 30 in arcana, get at least 2 cantrips (with one being the teleport one and the other the obvious mist), and use the trait renewing stamina, for vigor upon crits (33% chance), this will give him perma vigor and perma lol at heartseeker spammers… Thats why i rated his post hilarious, just look at screen shot and take a glimpse at the chat panel, the ongoing talk is self explanatory. PPLs will never learn and adapt. Then they die.
So I’ve been curious to why there isnt a item for these specific stats? Atm we have a lot of options to fit just about any build you want to create for ur profession.
Such as a High power/crit chance/crit dmg burst build to a High Def/heal spec…but no way of creating a high condition dmg, tanky spec…Atm im stuck using a Soldier amulet with Undead runes and 30 in cond dmg traits to fit my spec, but that 800 power is almost useless (since power does not raise cond dmg at all) It just doesnt fit…Id much rather have healing or cond dmg to replace it =/ Could we eventually have this option?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQRAqY4ImQ2KUhePAAAAA6eAAAAAA;TgAAzCooiyElIKrYuokRB
Another thing i just noticed: in this screenie, the OP is killed by a backstab perpetrated by the player with the lowest score in the other team. Just about anyone stomps this man, roflmao! and to think that the OP has declared before never to die to thieves!
3 things really hilarious about this post:
1-Seeing Jumper on his (probably) newly made necro getting brutally stomped, he is the highest ranked player by a huge margin there (rank 54);
2-Seeing that the OP, in early threads, declared being rank 30 (and that was a while ago), when in reality he is rank 29, what a lying little critter;
3-Seeing that the best player in the OP team was a RANK 1 (i repeat, rank one) Ranger (yes, a ranger); this guy has gotten his game from his parents for christmas and already is better than the OP!!
Awsome thread! InB4 close!
Europe (desolation) gogo!
The thief steals a skill called Consume Ectoplasm, which, when activated, will give him ALL boons for ten secs, except for stability, which will last only 3 secs.
What part of I ignore thief fanboys don’t you understand that means Daays, Lukin, Mindlessruff, ayedunited, Evilapprentice etc.
Anyone who spends 99.9% of their time on the forum defending the most grossily overpowered class every seen in a mmo I ignore. You all should have been perma banned from the forums ages ago for your balatant ABUSE of the forum’s TOS but the fact that the mod ignores your insane amount of infractions is more proof that the head dev plays a thief. Yet anyone who disagree’s with you gets banned and infracted while your post’s which consist of trolling and fanboy nonsense like L2play are dismissed.
Your gonna deny that thieve’s have more mobility, escapes and the highest dmg of any class and to you thats balanced? Really?
Mobility:
Fleet Shadow: 50% run speed in stealth coupled with shadow refuge makes you the only class in the game that can cross a map unhindered.
Fleet shadow is/was bugged, and only works in batlle; shadow refuge forces you to stay 4 seconds (not 3, as you said) in stealth first, so forget that super map crossing, you are just obtuse and very ignorant on this 2 skillsShadow trap: Better than Mesmer’s portal in the fact that it’s brainless set it on a node, trebuchet, Savnir/Chieftan and you auto port back to it the minute it detects movement and it stealth’s you for 5 seconds.
Should i just lol here? better than the most overpowered utility in the game, in tourny play? a perfect colapse skill, that ports multiple elements across the map, for either defending or offending? Allow me to lol: ah…ah…ahShadow step: A teleport and teleport return with stun breaker that REMOVES CONDITIONS!
meet my elementalist cantrip: Hi, my name is cleansing fire, i stun break, remove as many conditions as shadowstep, i have AOE burning, and i can be traited to give regen, 3 stacks of might and vigor, which in turn lets me remove even more conditions if traited for condition removal on regen, i have same cooldown as shadowstepShadow Signet: 25% steady run speed
Sure. Coz that is better than my ele’s perma swift with RTL and flashing lightning. And thieves, as of the last patch, are now the only ones with this signet steady speed. Right.Inf. Arrow: Shortbow spammable teleport
Good, no doubt. But spammable? hardly. Its brilliant on khylo, but why shouldnt we have at least something nice outside of burst? Coz thats all we have going for us, mostly. Burst. The highest in game? why not? One class had to be the one at that, if it wasnt thieves it would be necros, or eles, or guardians, or rangers…You get the idea. Or not, being that it is you…Escapes:
Shadow Refuge: 10 second invis with hidden assassin trait that can be used to gain 10 stacks of might. And with shadow Rejuv can be used to get a ton of life back. And I’ve heard the Bs arguement that you can be hit in it, yeah you get a huge circle you can move around in and leave in 3 secs and retain the 10 sec stealth.
Hitting a thief inside of this “bubble” is the easiest task ever, i always get hit when i use it, unless im up against someone clueless, like that guy, Fellknight, who cant hit me inside of it regardless. Oh, and its 4 secs, plz.Blinding Powder: With trait and utility skill
And what? What do you mean here? Another one of your inchoerent sentences? Yup.Cnd: 6 inniative spammable invis
Spammable? hardly, mate, hardly, infact, miss one (easy when ur opponent can see you, hard/impossible with steal), and ur pretty much out of juice. Moving on on this one, ur just obtuse.Hide in shadows: A heal plus stealth plus remove all conditions, WHAT?
WHAT? ALL CONDITIONS? WHAT? OMG, ure clueless…Master of Deception: For 10 pts in Shadow Arts dropping every stealth ability CD by 20%
Deception what? Every stealth what? OMG, ure clueless.Damage:
Everyone knows these guys can deal it out better than any class and theres many ways to do it.
But every thief fanboy is going to pretend these abilities dont exist that they die like a dusk till dawn vamp exposed to sunlight when hit and they arent the easiest evade/escape get out of jail from any problem class in the game, WITH THE HIGHEST DMG!
Sorry but all of these things will make any new player to this game who has experienced any other MMO leave and never turn back, thinking what 90% of the pvp playerbase already knows, these devs are nuts.
Just wanted to clarify a few (many) mistakes in this post.
Conditions are applied from left to right, if it still uses the GW1 sistem (and i am almost sure it is, but ive never made a conclusive test, although i observe it this way), so the first condition will take 1st spot, and any subsequent condition will be put to the right of it; then, whenever you use a condition remover, it will remove in reverse order, from right to left. In the case of dual or more conditions applied at same time, the game follows the same rule of left to right, but the game either randomly attributes an order to each application, or it has an hidden priority list, this is what i dont know. Anyway, in GW1, some skills that applied more than 1 condition allways applied them in the same order, so this is a case of some testing to figure out what’s the order for any of the skills that do this multiple application. But the removal is allways from rightmost condition to the left.
“I gave 3 logical concise reasons in my post for why no class should have all three of those abilities, try responding to that.”
You gave nothing. You just made 3 statements, without any “shred” of evidence to suport any of the “concise reasons” you presented. In the OP you said, and i quote, “The head designer obviously plays this class and is totally out of touch with reality,”, as an explanation of, in your little distorted reality, the state of the Thief. This is ridiculous. And so is your post. And the following posts only confirm the state of delusioning you are now going through, just look at the poor articulation between ideas scattered throughout your posts. They are barely readable.
We all know common sense isn’t too common now adays and that’s the only way anyone could believe thief class in GW2 isn’t the most grossly overpowered offensive class in any game.
not a single arguement that is anything but a childs angry rant to defend what makes no sense has been proposed to why any class in any game would have;
1. The best escapes including a 6 sec restealth ability
2. The best mobility and condition removal+ shadow removal lol which lets you outheal most conditions.
3. The best mobility with super stealth speed+ teleports and flat 25% run speed with signet, coupled with swiftness on avoid with 5 pts in Avoidance.
4. Plus the highest dmg in the game bar non.
All I hear to refute it is WAHHHH I play thief and it’s because I be best player not class op.
I swear to god, this post is almost unreadable…
Point 1, i dont know what ure talking about (6 second stealth?! what is this?);
Point 2, the best condition removal?? really? my ele is ten times better at that, and i dont know if there is something even better, plus, thief needs to spec for shadow arts and get a build around cloak and dagger to have decent condition removal (which detracts from them being able to dish out pure burst dmg);
Point 3, best mobility, my ele has equal, better if just in straight line with no verticalities, and other profs got the 25% signet too, i guess anet listens to the general crying;
As for point four, im in favor of reducing backstab multiplier from 2.4 to 2.0 (which would be the same as heartseeker below 25%) and most importantly, reduce heartseeker multiplier in final stage (below 25%) to 1.5, i also dont agree with “cheeselers”, the game is already full of rodents as it is, with all the hacking, macroing and stuff going on. But the truth be told, there is way to much crying going on, and the requested nerfs are outrageous, you guys need to step up your game.
“…then you dont have the critical thinking skills required to play the game beyond hotjoin.”
Ok, lets see the amount of info on this build that my critical thinking gets from the body of the post:
-“3 of your 4 utility slots allow for mobility/stealth and condition removal.” What are these utility slots? I see nothing in the body of the post about these, i fail at critical thinking i guess…
-“last refuge-you cant really choose it as its default going down stealth but its nice.” Really? thanks captain obvious… why did you dedicate a useless line to a mandatory minor trait? which incidentally adds nothing to a “plethora of automatically triggering defenses” build?
-“its kinda fun>.<”. Thank you very much. This is all i need to know about how to play this build. Its kinda fun. No direction, no purpose, just “Its kinda fun”. And a “bigger than” and a “minor than” signal.
And, of course, there is the rune set, the amulet and the jewel. Of which i know nothing. This critical thinking is gonna give me all the answers i need. Its that or play hotjoin.
Edit: i just took the time to read the body of you post and the rest of your replies better, and my critical thinking is reaching critical mass with the concealed defeat trait. Its a critical strikes trait, if i recall correctly. In a build with 30 in shadows, 30 in acrobatics and 10 in trickery. And, obviously, 10 in critcal strikes. 80 points. And i should replace that because “why not make it even more frustrating to finish a downed thief?” Oh yeah. If anything frustrates me, its downed thieves. Those buggers.
(edited by Eduardo.4675)
Clicking on the link and seeing nothing is infuriating.
This is some serious grave digging…this thread was so dead it smells like a dead drowned dog with ten days of water… but yes, body shot is overpowered.
Well on my S/D ele, there are 8 that require targets out of 18 skills that can affect an enemy. In addition, 2 of the remainder fire in a narrow line, and it is a waste to fire them without being certain the target is going to remain in front of you for 1 second.
Of the 4 auto-attacks, 3 will do no damage without a target, and the last is a straight-ahead line attack that is the weakest of them all.
I could understand for classes that can swing a sword until the thief is visible, but it’s quite difficult for other classes.
“In addition, 2 of the remainder fire in a narrow line, and it is a waste to fire them without being certain the target is going to remain in front of you for 1 second”
But isnt the thief stomping? And standing still? And arent you certain that they are right there, where your mate is downed? And for a lot more than 1 second? Not sure if i follow this, but ure just a usual costumer of the Cry Shop, so…
Hmm,clarified… its a lot of criting, i run the PD build, 1vsMany, supply camps, etc. but im already equiping for the same S/D spec, ill be running similar soon.
Correct, I’m using lifestealing food, which hits for 314 a pop with no cooldown. The crit comes out to being worth more than bloodlust sigil due to that.
And you likely went into the Power tree in your build, which would give you more power. I run as a control tank focusing on lifesteal procs and regeneration from stealth rather than raw dps, more of an attrition style that has worked well for me.
No, the crit sigil its not better, its only 12% more chance to proc, and that food is already 66% chance to proc on crits, so overall you wont be getting much more. Say, if you hit 100 times, u get ~60 (59) crits instead of ~50 (47), 2 thirds of this crits will lifesteal, so ull have ~40 steals against ~33, this in a sample with 100 hits, which is a long time and a hell of a lot of hits; damage wise bloodlust is better, but survival wise ur choice will be better in the long run; i didnt go into the power tree at all, i used 0/30/25/15/0, and full soldier armor with emerald orbs, full emerald trinkets with emerald jewels, guild defenders back pack, magi weapons, i still get 1965 power. And with this i get less than 16235 HP, you have 17047, which means is the robust buff and something im missing here. And probably ur running 30 in shadow line, instead of my 25 projection.
Considering the amount of time passed from the first time I press the button till the time the next autoattack/unload starts to channel, I’ve found those numbers:
Sword: ~3s (2.99, 3.02, 3.05)
Unload: ~2.80 (2.79, 2.81, 2.78)So, yeah, the data I were using were wrong.
Anyway it still looks fair to me tbh.
Horrible observations, dear lord, horrible… forgive them, Lord, coz they dont know better; guys, if you wanna do a proper timing of the sword auto chain, chain it TEN times at least, (thats 30 hits with the sword) control it with a stop watch, and then divide by TEN… its this simple, observing and stopwatching 1 by 1 leads to mistakes; ive done this a long time ago for guru, and i used my inbuilt stopwatch in my G13, and the sword auto chain takes 2.4 secs to complete, and the Unload takes 2 secs to complete, plus, the SM (skill modifier) for Unload is 0.248 per shot, so its SM is 0.248×8, divided by 2 secs, or 0.992; now the sword SM is 0.801+.0801+1.3, which is 2.902, divided by 2.4secs, we get 1.209. Its all in this ancient thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Skill-Coefficients-for-all-the-Thief-weapons/first#post467096
1838 is far, far from being “an obscenely high power”, in fact its an obscenely low amount of power; ur choice of sigil (perception) is awful, specially on such low power, coz the only thing it does is add 12% crit chance, and overall about 7% more dmg, which is much less than what you’d be getting with bloodlust, (around 14%), but i guess (im guessing) that the food youre using is a life stealing food; also, computing ur equipment as you describe it i dont even know how you get 1838 power from a full “soldier” armor coupled with emerald jewelry and orbs, i get at least ~2k power just from that, and im including the caretaker backpack and using magi weapons (no power stat).
That group made too many mistakes to not deserve to die. I didn’t see any AoE, or Crown Control. And one guy was backing up, not running, but backing up. You never do that. This just looks like inexperienced PvPers. I’m a P/D Condition thief and I manage better against glass cannon builds like this.
Im pretty sure the king of Spain or the queen of England would agree with you, there was a terrible lack of Crown Control out there.
Dude, this is the best ressurection since dracula! This thread has been dead for so long even CSI forensics couldnt exume such carcass! What a lol! And yes, its pretty obvious why i said ure bad. Now get back to the grave.
If ure just strictly using it to counter 100B, RFI is better as it is almost insta and travels you 1200 units away, whilst removing ALL CC from you
It still doesn’t remove immobilize so in my opinion it’s not the best tool to avoid a warrior burst or a bursty thief with devourer venom, or shattering mesmer (basically anything that roots) since you will stay where you are while rolling.
That said the extra initiative can come in handy to throw an extra black powder, death blossom or infiltrator strike so i guess it has its upsides. Now under water it’s true it’s quite awesome.
It removes immobilize, chill, criple and stuns… what are you talking about???unless there was a ninja patch and the tooltip wasnt changed to reflect,it still removes immo.Read the skill tooltip.Sometimes it bugs, (very rare) and ull roll where you are, but both withdraw and RFI remove immo.
I admit to be an average-ish casual player – all I do in this game is spvp.
I want to like shadow step, but I have a very hard time using it as a stun breaker due to the need to target it somewhere on the screen. Is this just a L2P/practice issue or is there some trick to it? Am I the only one who often takes roll for initiative just because if I find myself stuck in a 100B I can just hit that key and instantly be out of harms way?
If ure just strictly using it to counter 100B, RFI is better as it is almost insta and travels you 1200 units away, whilst removing ALL CC from you (something that shadowstep cannot guarantee, as it needs the return to remove condtions, and Immo/criple/chills, can be covered by 3 other conditions-very unlikely); however in almost any other situation shadowstep will fare better, all you need its bind it to midle mouse button and get used to using it, at first will be worrisome, but then ull eventually get the hang of it. Shadowstep has a lot of advantadges, the most prominent being the condition removal ability and the possibility of removing 2 stuns within its 10 secs frame. RFI is insta cast and removes immo as well, with just 1 touch, it gives you also 6 initiative, but it stops here; shadowstep removes 3 conditions regardless, can double stunbreak, its better as a movement skill, can be used to shortcut like infiltrator arrow, can be used to fake and induce enemies into making mistakes, has better cooldown and its probably the best safe stomper for thieves.
If using blinding powder to stealth, you must do as with C&D, coz BP apparently increases dmg on next hit after stealth.
It doesn’t but the level 25 minor Deadly Arts trait gives you 10% more damage on any target that has a condition on it. It was probably that.
Nice catch, i didnt think of that, went there and tested again, away from golem, you were spot on, i was puzzled by that, and assumed some ninja effect, as BP also works like a stun breaker, albeit not being one… not a technical stun break, as it doesnt remove stuns/dazes, but the skill is unaffected by those and is usable while dazed/stuned, so, since it blinds ur opponent, its almost as good. Guess is compensation for our infiltrator strike from sword not working as the stun break its advertised as.
same can be said of D/D thief players
Except shutting down a thief is a ton easier. They carry around, at most, one break stun, have 2k armor, and rely on stealth as an escape. If you can survive or dodge their burst, they’re very easy to shut down and kill. D/D Eles, on the other hand, have AoE Damage, a ton of heals and condition removal, three break stuns, and more escape abilities than a D/D thief. Killing thieves that try to burst me is one of my favorite things to do. Having to fight a D/D Ele is the most annoying thing in the game. They take like 3 minutes to kill, and they will almost always get away if you can’t kill them fast enough. As for a thief, it’s a lot easier to keep them shut down since they rarely build for raw defense.
The two aren’t comparable. One is a tanky DPS with a ton of heals, condition removals and break stuns. The other is a glass cannon thief with one break stun and an over-reliance on stealth as an escape mechanism. Hit a thief with CC and he either has to run away or die.
This is how you kill a D/D ele. You run pure glass cannon.
There’s no way a D/D Ele built properly (Power/Tough/Vit) is going to get hit anywhere near 12k by Backstab.
Are you sure about that? L2Backstab
12K Backstab = (3052 dmage * 981 wpn * 2.4 Skill) = 7185629/ 2500 (average P/T/V ele armor) = 2874.25 * 2.5 crit dmage = 7185 * 78% damage increase from traits/sigil/rune/etc = 12790 Backstab
If the Ele has 2900 armor, it would be 11K Backstab. If the Ele has 1980 armor, then the BS would’ve been 21k.
Im pretty sure you have been reading my posts and maths, that’s all my maths for a post i made last night. But its 100% true, nonetheless
^Yes, thanks for doing the math. I didn’t know the coef of BS was 2.4.
No problem. The skill multiplier i found doing this: buy steady weapons, go to golems and hit them repeatedly without no precision, to only get non crits. Golems have 2598 armor (heavy), 2320 (medium) and 2182 (light). Formula will be-> SM=Dmg*Armor/(Power*Weapon). Hit one golem with C&D and then hit the other golem while stealthed (C&D applies vuln, so it skews results). If using blinding powder to stealth, you must do as with C&D, coz BP apparently increases dmg on next hit after stealth. This procedure can be repeated for every skill ingame, to find out the skill multiplier. I got for BS a SM of 2.39xxx, rounded up to 2.4.
For a fun fact, ive posted this build/scenario for gigantic bacstabs before, twice, the first time my post was deleted on grounds of me being trolling the guy i was responding to, and i got a warning, last night i did post it again, i got no warning, but the thread was closed…

why is everyone so crazy about bloodlust?
Full glass cannon in pve has around 3500 attack, and over 250% total crit damage. To that, 25 stacks of bloodlust is less than 10% boost, while as the 10+% crit rate for 25 stack of preci is well over 10% total damage boost.
Your wrong, in a general glass cannon build, you will have around 50% crit chance already, + 250 precision adds 11.90% more critical hit chance to that, if you have 250% total crit dmg you will have more dmg OVERALL, or, DPS. However, glass cannons are designed to BURST down in FEW hits (eg. backstab builds), those who build for this are already expecting to crit on the trinity mug+C&D+BS, so in this case its better to invest in power to have higher crits on BS+mug+C&D.
If, for example, the build has 2400 power, 50% crit chance and 250% crit dmg, before adding the sigils, you will get +10.20% DPS with perception sigil; if you use bloodlust, youl will have + 10.42% DPS which is slightly better DPS, only 0.22% more, but your total dmg on that BS combo will be 10.42% higher, not 0.22%.
As always, this is very easy to explain.
With a 30/30/0/0/10 build, using full zerker, runeset of the scholar, bloodlust sigil and getting 12 stacks of might from venomous strength+signets of power+assassins signet+signet of shadows, we can get, in www, a total of 3052 power. Now add to that the critical dmg provided by this equipment and 30 points into critical strikes, and we can get + 150% crit dmg (=2.5 times more dmg). I get this with full zerker armor, dual zerker weapons, 5 ruby (zerker) trinkets+5 ruby (zerker) jewels and a guild backpack of the assassin+ruby jewel.
Now, for relevant traits, i chose dagger training (+ 5% dmg) and exposed weakness (+ 10% dmg) from power trait line; i chose first strikes (+ 10% dmg) and executioner (+ 20% dmg) from critical trait line; i chose flanking strikes (+ 5% dmg) from trickery line; add the +10% dmg from scholar 6th rune and the +15% dmg from assassins signet, and we get a +75% bonus on top of the critical hits, and for backstab we will even benefit from 3% extra dmg provided by the cloak and dagger vulnerability, for a total of +78% dmg on top of that crit. Now on to the math:
Damage formula is, as you can see in wiki, D=Power* Weapon dmg* Skill multiplier/Armor; the skill multiplier for backstab is 2.4, and for C&D is 1.62.
For C&D, we have ) D=3052* 981* 1.62/1980, wich is 6124.11 on a crit, now add the +dmg bonus, wich will be +45% (we dont benefit here from executioner, exposed weakness and vulnerability), and we are looking at a hit around 8879.96.
For backstab, we have ) D=3052* 981* 2.4/1980, wich is 9072.76 on a crit, now if we add the +bonuses, wich in this case is +78%, we are looking at a hit around 16149.51.
The OP took 7.3K from C&D and 12.7K from backstab, and i have to say, im not impressed… however, im impressed at 15K health on full zerker exotics and 20 points into acrobatics, thats 12805 HP, add watever runeset you want to that and i cant see how he gets 15K.
Let me start by asking you a question. Should anyone be able to escape over and over when chased by eight players?
looks around No?
Good! Right then, this thread is about Infiltrators Arrow and Heartseeker. Now don’t worry, I’m not gonna suggest a nerf or even a buff. What I’m gonna suggest is that these be changed to target requirement skill. As now is a Thief can just leap away or teleport away making him really hard to catch – Added to all the stealths he got. You may say I’m a bad player but I really don’t have problems killing thieves, I’m Dr Oxy Brobotnik ingame, come see me on Ring of Fire sometime if you doubt it.I do have problems catching thieves though. With sigil of shadows which is a permanent swiftness buff thief is when using leap or teleport WAY faster than any other class. I’d be fine with it if it weren’t for all the stealths. As I see it Thief should definetly be fast and definetly number one at chasing, but shouldn’t in return have the potential to become uncatchable. It just feels like they are too good at running away (inb4 obvious "try catching mesmers). The rest of us have to use skills with CD’s and dodge rolls to run away – Why should you have it so easy?
Rufirant shouted, “Mates! Scowler he dancer. He do duck on nimble toes and scorns the rules of honest Hamish blow-for-blow. Seize him. Hold him. We will trade blow for blow, then. He may be firststriker, gift of me, and I—I will be last-striker.”
Brilliant!! Best response ever!! I bow to you, sir! /bow
Edit: I just gogled it, seventh chapter, Farmer.

How about killing the crates? coz ive never noticed this… call target on crates!!
I usually watch videos to get some entertaining out of it, unfortunately, this time it was negated.
@ sorrow: you make me laugh, a baddie will be a baddie; BS thieves dont use shadow arts…
@ OP: Assassins reward increases on a 3.3% rate, not 3.5%, and it heals for the amount of initiative spent, not hits, so you should revise those maths for pistol whip, 5*69=345, not 621, and with 1000 compassion its 104*5=520, not 936.
And to add a note, cloak and dagger gives only 5 points initiative worth of reward.
I guess i fail at quoting just parts of posts…

Let me ask you this. What ARE you grinding for? The cosmetics, correct?
Let me tell you what serious PVPers grind for. We grind for qualifying points from paid tournaments, so that our teams can qualify for upcoming monthly tournaments. We strive… bla bla yada yada… to send a message out to the PvP community that our team is the best…yada yada yada… This is our end game.
People who are serious about PvP grind to improve themselves as a team. Think of it like bodybuilding and getting prepped for a competition. That’s what serious PvPers are all about. [/quote]
What a geeky post this one; you should have a normal life dude, you should have sex or something… i grind women, not qualifier points, your vision of the world is aberrant,
to say the least, people play games for fun, mostly, for the chillax… playing 8 hours a day is the same time i usually dedicate to work, thats too much… im on sick leave for months now, im probably undergoing surgery and i expect to be back to work february or earlier, i could play 8, 12 hours a day, i have this game since 20th April, and im only, like, 450 hours in it…
Your post is nothing but a rambling, i actually took the time to see the leader boards to find your name in there, such a dedicated QP grinder i expect no less than top 5, but, as i suspected (i have a magic fairy that whispers funny stuff on my ears),i did not find your name… Ur justa trying to pass up as a pro, nothing else… AKA wannabe.
I guess all that dedication isnt paying of…
