They have this in Lord of the Rings Online.
Ridiculously ridiculous. From an MMO stand point. It might sound cool, but it is really not.
Please search for the topic you have before making yet ANOTHER thread about this. It has been beaten like a dead horse.
OH, you were talking about crafting professions, well you’re not going to make money from them, it’s just a novelty that Anet threw into the game to appease those who like to grind out useless things like that. Since we aren’t allowed to actually sell the high end stuff we can craft, crafting is pointless. The only way that you are ever going to make money in this game that is blessed by Anet is through trading post manipulation. There are very very few things that you can craft that will actually net you a profit unless you really like to grind that out for the meager earnings and accumulate over time, you can make much more than that just doing world boss runs or WvW grind zone Edge of the Mists.
Sorry, but Crafting is only good for some skin unlocks that can’t be attained by killing an enemy or acquired by karma.
Bullkitten. It is possible to make money from every Crafting Discipline.
When I leveled my Armorsmithing it cost me 35G to get it to 500. I sold items back that I had created and banked 140G when done.
Same with Cooking. I can make some mad cash selling certain high end foods. You NEVER use food or utility consumables?
Don’t just jump on your soapbox and tell new players that it is a garbage system and waste of time/money. We NEED new players to keep this game alive. Those new players need to be encouraged to play, not discouraged away from one of the main game features.
Crafting IS important to the game world. Circle of Life and all that.
Whilst playing GW2 on my laptop, I had apparently dozed off. My 3yr old grandson (whom is hard of hearing) tapped me on the arm while pointing at the screen. My toon was trying to tunnel through a wall with his face, on auto-run.
I like the reward of a non-cookie cutter world. I like that I can go explore a cave and know that there is absolutely no other cave like it in the entire game. That’s my reward. Thanks Anet. Much appreciated. :-)
I like this idea. I really wished they had done something further with the whole ‘Orders’ thing. After I got past that portion of the story line, I completely forgot what order which character was even in.
Mesmer is not something you want to start with unless you want to get frustrated… Warrior or Guardian is pretty standard, easy on the noobs and the two strongest/most usefull classes when mastered. After that, Thief, Elementalist or Necromancer. Then Engineer and Mesmer.
I didnt miss any class.
No I didnt.
Mesmer is an awesome choice to start with! Grab a greatsword and your leveling is quick and easy-peasy. — Every profession (they are not classes here) is strong and useful, when played properly. Your above statement is purely your opinion.
To the OP: Try them all. No one can tell you what you will like. I hated Elementalist at first, but after almost 2 years of playing every other profession, I went back to the Ele and I loved it! So much diversity! I don’t know why I didn’t stick with it at the beginning.
As far as mesmer, like I said above, get yourself a greatsword and your playtime will be greatly more enjoyable. Also, once you get the skill ‘Portal Entre’ you will be digging the Mez even more. (Yes, I even use it during combat!)
I found Ranger the easiest to level up and explore the game with. But, you have to be willing to be the ‘frowned upon’ profession to play a Ranger.
Just try them all!
I think that if you’re going to make a statement like that (“…be willing to be the ‘frowned upon’ profession to play a Ranger.”), you should include your reason(s) behind saying so. Such as that you were most likely referring to the role of a Ranger in a Dungeon setting and the ‘frowned upon’ AI of the Ranger’s pet.

BLTC have always been Whitman Samplers. You can’t return just the chocolates you don’t like for cash.
Exactly my point. Now, go back and re-read my suggestion and return with an actual response that can be discussed further, or please refrain from de-railing my topic.
[33 Merchant Expresses] = 35 Gems or 5/125 Gems
[29 Trading Post Expresses] = 50 Gems or 5/200 Gems
[45 Instant Repair Canisters] = 35 Gems or 5/150 Gems
[40 Bank Access Expresses] = 35 Gems or 5/125 Gems
These are the items I have horded for the past almost-2-years and their perspective current Gem-store purchase prices.
I never (or very rarely ever) use them. But, I have bought BLTC chest keys with gems and received these items from the chests. What I would like to be able to do is return them to the Gem-store and receive gems to spend on items that I will actually use (i.e Revive Orbs, Boosters, Primers, etc.). Or, even the ability to swap; similar to the newly implemented booster exchange: Boost Enchantment Powder
The screen acreage is already clogged up enough as it is. We do not need more useless crap closing in on us. Also, this would never happen in a world where footwork is required to explore and find said events.
Some you can’t skip and others you can. Also, when you get to a certain part of the cinematics, the skip button will disappear because the assumption is that you want to watch them if you get that far.
It doesn’t disappear completely. Just mouse over it and it comes back.
It’s a zerg. Nothing more. Therefore nothing more is needed. “Working as intended.”
snip This isn’t a troll post,snip
With not one single reply from this tool, I have to call bullkitten on this NOT being a troll post.
Nothing to see here, folks. Move it along.
What about the Charr plush? The SteelSeries mouse, 3 different mouse pads and headphones?
Just google ‘guild wars 2 merchandise’. Don’t be a Lazy Lytalm.
Fill out a ticket:
https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
At the top of the page click on the drop-down menu and select ’ In-Game Issue’.
Under the section ‘Specific Issue’ click on the drop-down menu and select ‘Violation Report’.
Be sure to have screen shots ready as most likely they will ask for them further down the investigative process.
It’s an older game, half off sales are common for older games. Maybe it means we’re getting an expansion soon?
Less than two years running hardly equates to “an older game”. Ultima Online, EverQuest….hell, even WoW could be considered older gamers.
To the OP: Quit stirring the pot and get back in the game and play, man, play! You’re wasting your hard paid for time!!
It depends on the map. Mainly the size but also the layout and what’s happening there. I’d say:
- One next to each entrance – to make sure that when you enter the map you’ve got one, in case you die before reaching another one.
- One near to each location where players are likely to want to go in a hurry, like dungeons and world bosses.
- In towns, forts etc. Not necessarily all of them, but the bigger ones definitely. Partially just because it would give a fairly even distribution but also because it puts them close to merchants and other services and roads. Which makes it a logical starting point for activities in that area.
- Finally if there are any areas left which would take an unreasonably long time to get to (most likely because of the terrain) with that distribution and which aren’t made that way on purpose (like jumping puzzles) they could get a waypoint too.
But one waypoint can serve more than one of these purposes. For example Earthshake Waypoint is near the entrance to Fireheart Rise, the Elder’s Vale Pact camp and The Claw’s spawn point. Where possible they should be combined this way to avoid littering the map with them.
I agree with this. ^^
Personally, I would like to see less WPs and more mini-portals, similar to those in EotM.
OP needs to learn 2 things: The rules https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/ and the definition of griefing.
Start a petition.
Also…. upon logging in, make it a force of habit to hit ‘G’.

Across all characters, you have played for 1,555 hrs 7 mins over the past 544 days.
You have played this character for 308 hrs 19 minutes over the past 537 days.
(With a 2 month break.)
So that you can READ them say, “Um” and “Uh” between every other word?? Seriously! Once you hear it, it can’t be unheard. I tried to watch them, but they say these 2 kitten ed things so often that I just can’t stand it!
I love the concept, but please, please, PLEASE get some people that can speak more evenly without “UM” and UH"!!
This is the absolute must-have, must-use timer in the gaming world of GW2!!!
http://killall-q.deviantart.com/art/Guild-Wars-2-World-Boss-Timer-Overlay-456805634
It is ridiculously simple to use. It sits right there on your screen…IN-GAME! You can move it wherever you like to see it. You never have to ALT+TAB to a website ever again! It is amazing that only a handful of players that do world bosses utulize this minimalist tool.
No, I do not have anything to do with the production of this, I just think it is very, very cool and want other people to be as happy with World Boss killing as I am.
As the others said, don’t worry so much about money at this point. If it’s getting to 80 ya want head to the Edge of the Mists (EotM) and ride the zerg or start doing dungeons. Both will net you enough cash to keep ya going.
I am leveling a new warrior and didn’t want to pay the TP prices for gear, so I decided to finish off my Armorsmithing that has sat idle at 200 on one of my 80s. In the course of a couple of hours I got it to max 500. Having 5 level 80 toons I already had a lot of mats to start with, but still had to buy some off of the TP, too. I started with 70 gold, spent 20 gold on mats leaving me with 50 gold. I sold what I crafted and walked away with a total of 139 gold when I was done.
This being your first time around this scenario wont help you much, but just to serve as an example as to what you can expect later on. Don’t worry about money NOW. In time it will come.
Gonna have to wait for next year’s event.
Looks like a simple case of “working as intended”.
Oh yea thats so much relief, didnt know that thanks!
Bind mousewheel to left click. Then spin away!
Not everyone uses a mouse with a wheel.
What does this have to do with crafting? Seriously. This needs to be in General.
A moderator really should start killing all these housing / guild hall threads as soon as they appear.
What are these ‘classes’ you speak of? This game has ‘professions’.
If you’re gonna invest any real time in this game at least learn the most basic terminology.
Yup. Gonna be ‘that guy’.
Saying that they CAN’T do is bullkitten. 16 years ago in UO you ran through a quest line that allowed you to “embrace your Elvish heritage” and gave you the option to change your race from Human to Elf.
They could do it.
Why are people obsessed with housing???
In UO I had a house. I spent tons of time messing around with my house. It became a major timesink.
In LotRO I had a house. It was so lame that I never spent any time there.
I have played other games where there was housing and I have yet to see any game developer/publisher get it right.
WE DO NOT NEED PLAYER HOUSING!
That’s why there are hearts to do, gathering and just general killing and exploring while you are ‘wandering around to the next event’. There is always something to do. Gather everything, it’s free experience and materials. Kill as many ‘yellow’ mobs as you can. They give bonus experience (if you have not killed a ton of them recently).
It’s called ‘filler’ loot. People playing these games demand that they be rewarded with some form of physical, tangible thing upon killing an enemy. You can’t expect every drop to be usable or worth a large amount of coin, or, as ipan stated above, the next level higher of loot would then become the ‘junk’. You also can’t have a loot drop , whether it be usable or worthy piece of loot or junk, on every 8th or so enemy kill or else players will get bored and either not play, or get kitteny and complain that there is not enough loot drops or that the loot drops that do occur are too infrequent; thus…‘filler’ is applied. It allows for the game to continue uninterrupted.
Take your filler, get your few coins or delete as you get it and enjoy the game for what it is: amazing story, graphics and time well spent; not complaining about something so trivial.

Although a good suggestion, it has been done over and over and over and over and over…..
Good ol’ MS Paint.
Your ranger really seems to be using leather! Very nice.
I never quite get the right material textures for my characters, so I almost always fall back to using the color theme for the profession. Very colorful, but not as realist.
Thanks! Yeah, I really love some of the attention to detail that Anet’s ‘clothing’ team did. Here’s a pic of the back:
I whole-heartedly concur!
From my own topic of discussion on the matter:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Why-is-there-no-title-given-for/first#post4141633
I just assumed-
You shouldn’t.
Well, that doesn’t really add to the discussion, but hey…there’s always gotta be ‘that guy’ that chimes in eventually.
To all the others, thanks for your input and thoughts.
Perhaps they will look at this topic again and hopefully give us what we deserve!
I don’t get this “eotm zerg” is awesome thing. I went, got in a group, we zerged to our little hearts content and 2-3 hrs later I had progressed 1/2 a level. I could have done that plus 3 levels more doing hearts and gathering!
As an AoE ’zerker Ele, yes I was doing my share of damage!
I agree and feel your pain.
I have not lead anything as large as a Teq group, but even in dungeons and open-world it gets frustrating.
I would like to see a a separate chat output all together for leaders of groups. A leader specific font color or on-screen display of said leaders chat.
I just assumed that being such a major achievement set that it would be rewarded with a title after having been completed.
…Jump Puzzles???
I just finished my last JP, all excited for myself and my newly acquired title for doing one of the main things that keeps me playing this game aaannnnd…… no title.
Really? JPs are one of the things that makes this game unique! I even endured PvP ganking to finish the ones in the WvW maps! Some of the puzzles are legitimately difficult, too!
Considering that there are some less-than-amazing titles out there, it really boggles me that Jump Puzzles would get left out.
As Dorian said, all the big box stores have them as well as BestBuy.com, amazon, ebay…or buy gems directly in-game via the BLTC.
I understand that this is designed to be a multi-player game, but I enjoy most of my time spent solo. I would like there to be more solo content, specifically solo dungeons.
And a once-around-the-world account-wide World Map Completion! I have 9 characters. As a die-hard completion-ist it kills me to have to force myself to do the same thing on every single one of them. I know I don’t have to, but… I HAVE TO!

Derailing the train in QD by killing any champ I want, when I want; it’s MY game, I’ll play how I want. Viva la resistance! Vers le bas avec le train!!
And other stuff.
Ya need to add being a troll/griefer to the poll. LOL
You have absolutely no clue as to what either of those words mean, in terms of MMORPG, do you? Playing the game I paid for in the manner of which I want to is neither ‘trolling’ nor ‘griefing’.
Its still dead in the water. If we both run out into Wayfarer at our peak time then we won’t be on SoS or IoJ, we’ll be on a megaserver. You know that.
WvW is the only reason to choose a server now.
Guild banks are also still server based. If the guild’s bank was created by a member on Server A, only guild members on Server A will be able to withdraw from the Server A Guild Bank. Members on Server B can create a bank on Server B if the guild allows it that would only be accessible on Server B.
Not only that but home server is used in the formula for what “overflow” to put you in should there be more than one with open slots. What weight that has vs friends and guild members, I don’t know. Probably less since you’d most likely rather play with friends or guild mates over strangers.
Both valid points to note. Thanks. Although I suppose I should have included in my OP the fact that I have neither guild nor friends on my “home” server, Tarnished Coast. I guess I am one of those rare few that would rather play with strangers over friends or guild-mates.
Looks like I’ll be staying where I am then.
