Is Elixir-Infused Bombs worth it?

Without healing stat it heals very little, with around 1100 healing i think it heals 266ish, not very groundbreaking, something like guardian virtue, just you need to triger it with bombs.

Just an extra tip, on the northernmost side of island or western part there are npc that will also attack you. You can try there to test.

Heres my opinion on your build:

-Dont use elixir for heal since in tools trait you have trait to reset cd on toolbar, so med kit benefit nice with that (saved me many times).

-I use 10 in explosives

-For runes i take all Divinity.

-For other abilities i use ram head (big damage and shortish cd on toolbar (burst) and knockback, which saved me many times from melee or when preventing finishing moves (tho on bad side its easy to miss).

-Than i use combination (depends on situation) tool kit, there you get again nice burst and block + crible + magnet on kit use (but downside to this is you are slower since you first need to activate tool kit and than block but by that time you could already take sever damage).

Other good possibility is utility googles, but its kind of lacking (aagainst war or thieves, tho you do remove stun but since it doesnt give you any kind of dodge/moving bonus you will probably take 50% of that HB war skill.
Alternative is rocket boots but i only choose this if there are many melee ppl.
Alternative is also as in your build elixir s, but i am more gadget fan (+ you dont get damaging toolbelt skill, meaning you dont have enaugh damage to kill before be killed).

I also tried slicky shoes, its kinda good but have too long cd for me and veeeery situational.

For last option you could decide between rifle, net turet or something with condition removing (since biiiiiiiig weaknes in my opinion is against condition mesmers, rangers and necros, havent met many condition thieves tho). Net turret if you want one more net skill (in toolbar), rifle turet is good for more burst from toolbar skill (only 10 sec cd + trait that do dmg each time you activate toolbar skill).
If there are more range dps i sometimes also take elixir U (but havent now for a long time, since i think i benefit from others more).

-I usualy run ram, tool kit and rifle turet. If the target is glass cannon and i hit with all + some rifle skills, he dies in second.

-well thieves and condition rangers (maybe also gooood condtition/shatter mesmers) will always be weakness no mater how survivable you build. I tried thoughtness elixir build and thief still killed me in 2 sec.

-With my build i have no problems with bunker builds, tho i cant kill them sometimes but i can prevent them to camp on circles with my many knockback skills (i strugle only vs good bunker elementalists).

-In conclusion, i already won free tournament with rifle engineer tho he may not be on same level as others, but hes by no means not viable. Combination of knockbacks, imobolize and solid burst dmg is just epic here. I can also solo with him Svanir or Lord with no problem.

Stop playing hot-join games guys.. if you are looking for a good fun, try free tournaments. Its so better even when playing solo..
sometimes it could be flustrating to get destroyed by guild premade, but in general.. still pretty much better then hot-join thief zerg

In “hot-join” games no thief has ever killed my engineer in less than 5 sec (except hs wars with no stunbreaker :/), but when i tried free tournament i saw farr away thief, than he suddenly teleported to me in stealth and was dead in 1 sec without being able to use any spell at all. Hp gone from 100% to 0% in a moment.

Is it just me or rocket boots needs little buffing? Well i would like if there was no knockdown, because at the time i get up the enemy is already in my face or other enemies just finish me with no problem. (speaking for pvp)
Whats your opinion ppl on this ability?
(+ i almost always miss its kick -toolbar :p)

Today i was in sPvP and when jumping off the higher ground, enemies killed me while i was still in air and than i instantly died WITHOUT downed state.
Happened two times.

Jeah that i ment by best/better gear – better looking. So golden chest at rank 10 will have equal chance and variety for cool stuff like rank 40?

Hello i am little confused =/. What is different if you buy golden chest at rank 1 vendor or at rank 10/20/30…. Is it just the amount of stuff you get or higher chance to get good stuff or at lower ranks you get ONLY sucky gear? What rank you need to have chance for best gear?

Well since WP is quite unique there isnt any class that would give feeling like playing WP. Also healing skills are not good in scaling. For example healing on hit with greatsword gives you 26 hp and it does not scale at all. In my opinion i would go (dont mind the gear):

*Just to add, 10 from radiance could be given to honour for 2hander mastery.

Also 1000-1200 healing power is nice to have for this.
So dont know what feeling of WP playstile you would like, but for me thats closest thing i could get for it (doing dps while some healing).
(other healing abilities have poor healing numbers even with much healing power stat)

Dodge roll heal and meditation heals (traited) heals quite more with healing gear tho … as my observations go. What about numbers on improved virtue of resolve?

As i tested my dodge roll healed me for 2000 or 2500 with around 1200 healing and merciful intervention for 4000 (dont know if this heal was only skill or combined with meditation trait or are they exclusive?), other meditation heals were 2000, a lot more than without any heals, same for meditations if i remember right.

+ Greatsword heal on hit (trait) is only 26 and it does not scale with healing stat.

So if anyone want to be healing speced, the best things to use are meditations (3 or 2 with one shout with regeneration and protection) and dodge roll and altruistic healing (not for scaling on healing power but if you give a lot of boons to others they heal you quite good). -for defence healing is better than vitality

If I would get hit for 2000 and Retaliation reflects back 400, I only receive 1600 damage and attacker takes 400.

20% damage reduction and X% damage per second increase. X in my case would be rather high as my own DPS sucks. How is this not awesome? Or did I miss a memo or something?

As my understandings go, retaliation doesnt reduce damage, only reflect it. You still take 2000.

Once i had thoughtnes (2800ish)/healing necro with 21k hp, thief droped me within fear ability to 30% (he initiaded the fight-didnt cast any spell pre fear). Op dmg is op.
Otherwise i think op is just too much gapclosing and stealth mechanic and quickness in general.

They are promoting exploring, but for me those vistas and various points are not that.

As said in first post about swiming:
when i was leveling a human in westfall (vanilla), i got bored, so i looked on map and there was big blackness so i began to wonder whats there. I decided to swim from westfall upward and "cheat the game* – not going on usual road and interested what to find ahead. I swim till Menethil harbour kitten those high lvl murlocks!!!1!) and that was first wow effect i got from explorin, hmm humans, so far away, they have nice lookin walls, why do they need walls, whats their story? + first time saw ships ….. hmm where do they take you? Whats between elvyn and menethil? Than i took the ship and gone to unknow, over to the kalimdor. There it landed by huge castle (theramore) surrounded by creepy area – again one more wow moment. Whats beyond creepy area? Or what happened there, what is hidding in dark?

Well that was one of my exploring endeveours. At that time i wasnt interested much in lore (tho played warcraf3), but from that moment i kept wondering, what other epic stuff can i find in those dark spots? What secrets and wonderfull places or epic story does this world have? And later i also bought (w3 frozen throne) and got realy pulled into lore and imersive world that represent it.

We all can agree its not gamebreaking and much better than gw1, but for me open world has some more +.
(and gw2 is much better game than WoW, i liked wow just for lore past vanilla – tho didnt last long since they butchered it :p -> dont tell me to go play crap MoP)

For me it looks strange that every map is instanced, bordered by high mountains and have small gateways to go in/out. This destroys the continent feeling, like for example WoW have where you can go to other zones from anywhere you liked (except if it was mountain area, you could also swim around all map. As its now i cant relate to world since they look just like big dungeons and not vivid world.

If maps were more conected and not instanced (like WoW), they could make invasions from other maps if enemy npc take there too much control.

So i am interested why Anet choose to have this design of maps?

*sorry for comparing to wow, but havent played much other mmos.

Its very simple in my opinion, mechanic where ppl/npc must hit you to do dmg is fail, since this game is all about avoidance. They should make shiled spells that reflect stuffs, without damaging you, even melee as its now for range (those walls and bubbles) – retaliation as its now is just boring and passive implementation of what can be incorporated into active spell (tho with added that you dont take all dmg).

Tho it can go away as whole since similar job have blocking spells or aegis or protection boon. But you could have trait where if enemy hit you while you have some kind damage mitigration than it also damages them back./or for more defensive players – heals you.

Well for me engineer is about “leonardo da vinchi”/reneisance like inventions, or gadgets that you usually see with witchhunter characters and elixirs work for them just fine.
Thats why i dont like theme of engineers here, with mostly world war 1/2 weapons rather than interesting, fantasy inventions.

Well personaly i think that atm those kits are not so fun as they could be, they are also just different kind of guns and lacking any real melee options.

Thats why i am suggesting that weapon kits could be replaced by “moddified weapons”. What are modified weapons? They are normal weapons that engineers modified/improved with their knowladge. Well we could get for example steampunk/clockwork looking hammer, electrical sword (one handed kit?), elixir gun theme is fine, power armour….. Since those are in my oppinion better alternatives that would fantasy engineer actualy do (and not ww1/2 themed mines, grenades, flamethrower…… tho grenades and mines and bombs could be seperate utility skill).
For example steampunk hammer could have ending shaped like dragon head and its 5th ability would be breathing fire, simmilar to flamethrower 1 + would be melee and medium range oriented.
*edit: or modifeid weapon that could be melee and ranged – for example gun that has attached some kind melee weapons and would have first 3/2 skills range and other 2/3 melee.

So this is just my opinion, what do you ppl think?
