Lyonguard Lyns has been fired…
Why A-Net, Why… … ?
I know, she made me double take everytime I walked by…
She made me actually want to donate to rebuild Lion’s Arch, and when I did, I got rewarded with 250 stack/use items that were inventory-saving.
Or people are stockpiling karka for the next wave of infused/ascension recipes.
I’ll buy 10 kind words and 800 friendly smiles for a Glob of Ectoplasm.
Upon death. Kind of counter-productive, don’t you think? We’re weaker and we get a bonus (albeit a really bad one) that we lose when we die.
Let’s look at this:
We’re weaker…
And we get a buff to accomodate us being weaker (which gives us absolutely nothing towards making us stronger)
Which we then lose…
By being weaker.
awesomeium needs to access your browser and I believe gw2 caches that information. If gw2 is unable to cache it, it’s hit or miss on whether or not the trading post will be shown.
At least, that’s just a simple way of thinking about it. As for running your browser as admin, that helps awesomeium.exe
Personally I recommend bank space and/or character slots.
Do not listen to the people who recommend buying gems with gold … in the end, you buy gems to support a good game. That’s the main reason. I have 1400 gems I don’t do anything with atm but that’s totally fine with me.
I’ve put in over $20 in gems and have the Digital Deluxe edition (from purchase, not gems) of the game. There is, however, a problem with me continually buying gems with real money and that’s that I have to go to school and have no source of income. I also have to provide food for myself, which puts me at a very, very little amount of extra money.
@OP
I have to admit, I agree with your point but I disagree with the details of how you go about saying it.
Overall, I disagree with your post due to it jumping around and lacking a concise “I dislike it for this” which is fine, because you dislike it for many reasons. That, however, causes me to have to disagree since I don’t agree with everything you wrote.
I do agree that Mesmers have fallen off of the original concept, however, they were always people who played with others’ minds, be it through music or spells (although the spells did hint towards music).
I don’t mind playing my Mesmer as a deceptive battle-mage, however, I would like them to have elegance and grace, something they lack. I would also like to see a bit more of Wastrel instead of just in traits…
^ The whole gist of my “troll” post.
Every class has it’s own unique feel. Just because you don’t agree with it doesn’t mean everyone should get it. If everyone got portals, you’d find something else to complain about.
Yeah, on average, I make about 5g per sale (stable sales). I do at least 1 sale a day. I can get 800 gems in less than a week of very, very casual playing.
Run your default Browser AND Gw2 client as Admin.
Clear up your mailbox. This includes ALL mails, including account-wide mail and character-specific. I would suggest making a new character, then deleting the mail on that character.
I feel like Elementalists shouldn’t be the only class that has attunement. If you look at the traits, technically all classes are attuned to something in particular.
I feel like Rangers shouldn’t be the only classes with pets. Asurans build golems a lot so why can’t Asurans also get pets? Charr have Warbands, can’t you have them follow you like pets? Etc…
I feel like Warriors shouldn’t be the only class with a huge variety of weapon selection. All classes are “masters” and therefore should be able to improvise skills onto any weapon.
Engineers shouldn’t be the only class that can get 2 utility skills for every utility equipped. Skills have more than one use, therefore skills should utilize them.
Guardians shouldn’t be the only class that has innate party skills, all the classes are meant to synergize (see: storyline) and it doesn’t feel like that if only one class has hard party skills.
I think Thieves shouldn’t be the only class that can have mana with no cooldowns. I think all classes shouldn’t have cooldowns on their weapon skills and just use mana… I mean Initiative… of course… cough
Necromancers shouldn’t be the only class that can… I have no idea anymore, but I think you get my point.
I’d rather there be a recipe to turn Basic Trannie Stones —> Fine Trannie Stones.
Just remember that the 100 items have to be 100 unique buy orders.
If you bought 250 Linen Scraps, it could come in anywhere from 1 to 250 items due to how many buy orders you’ve made.
Additionally, if you buy 300 stacks of 250 Linen Scraps, it could come in anywhere from 300 to 75,000 items.
Haven’t bought a single gem in my life. Have only tried to play the TP once (and lost money off of it)
Technically Gold —> Gems is still buying gems, and I see you have a bank tab so…
GW2 was originally supposed to have integration with Xfire. It was there in the early BWE, but they took it out due to a few problems (probably both with Xfire and the API integration).
Charged lodestones should of been reduced months ago through more ways to get lodestones or token exchange, arena.net are probably too busy fixing the dungeons to do anything or don’t even know about it, but they need to know how badly this item is being manipulated. How do they expect casual players to get 400 gold to pay for 100 of these things?! Thats more than the precursor its needed for!
The people that say the lodestones are fine are either bots/market manipulates or already have their legendary before the prices shot up.
Except you don’t need a legendary. You want a legendary. Therefore, it should be a goal that’s hard and makes you work for it. I feel like all the methods of skipping working and simply buying into a legendary (even straight up buying the legendary) devalues the legendaries and makes it “look at my shiny weapon” instead of “look at how hard I worked”.
Semi-off-topic: I have a sword collection. In my sword collection are 7 exotic swords. I have no wish to include Bolt inside that collection. Sure, I have some items going towards making a legendary, but I’m only doing that as a very minor side-thing going on. I’m mostly working on gearing myself (even more) and just having fun.
Say that again after putting 100 hours into farming charged lodestones. I dare you.
If you’ve not tried getting charged lodestones yourself, you have no right telling me that getting charged lodestones at the moment isn’t enough “work”.Your probably another player who got his swords before the prices hit the roof.
Actually, I’ve been merching off of Charged Lodestones for quite some time. All my swords, I’ve gotten WITHOUT accessing the TP.
That, and the 2x drop rate for it has been redacted since half a week ago.
I would probably say the drop chance is somewhere around 1/500 <→ 1/1000.
But it could be anywhere.

Crud, I use excel… they’re onto me.
Puts on a wig and sunglasses
I’m outta here.
Yarr, when I see Meet Lowest Seller, I check how many are listed. If there are a few of an item that won’t sell a lot, I’ll list it a few copper or silvers higher. If there are a ton of an item that won’t sell a lot, I’ll it a few copper or silvers lower. If there are a an item that will sell but the price won’t fluctuate, I’ll just list with the bulk. But I almost always research the other sellers when I sell.
When did I say Lost Shores?
I didn’t think you said anything about it. Were you happy with it?
I’d rather see Anet promote value and a great game than making money in the short run using the same tired old tactics that WalMart and other retailers use- to make a quick buck.
You’re saying Anet should not try to be better than that? you’re happy with the company that makes your MMORPG using cheap marketing tactics?
I’m not. I’m sorry but we just disagree.
Cheap compared to which MMORPG?
I was content with Lost Shores, I did not dislike nor amazing like it.
Endgame is kind of rushed at the moment, Fractals is like candy for endgame so that players will be somewhat “sated” so they will be busy while ANet can develop/improve their game since too many people are complaining.
When did I say Lost Shores?
The recipe (not the beginning or the end of the chain but the middle part) was off by not even a factor of 5 from similar recipes. Some MMO’s have their special-event/limited recipes being easier to produce; so everyone can participate even if they’re not as rich as Scrooge McDuck. The input and the output were determined by players. I don’t see ANY profit you can do with crafting as anything different than using the missing knowledge of players to earn money.
An exploit is an exploit the first time it’s done. (Not punishable though) Doing it a hundred or a thousand time doesn’t change it from “legit gameplay mechanic” to “exploit”. You can’t use “people did it a thousand times, now it’s an exploit” as argument; or else everyone crafting rare’s and salvaging them for ecto is an exploiter because that gets done thousands of times a day.
Sure, but the recipes should be innocent and not produce the equivalent salvage of the Scrooge McDuck version otherwise, you’re just making an item worth for 5x less input.
Additionally, for the person whom has all the info, there WAS a precursor bug with the Grawl Rare weapons which had one or two people banned due to abusing it INTENSELY. People whined and moaned about “mass banning” but it was literally less than a hand of people who hardcore farmed it for precursors.
Gems, Trading Post, Guilds, WvW, PvP, Friends, Accounts, Character Names, Guild names, Mail, and Overflows are all global.
1. It was tied with a bug which was fixed. It will most likely be re-enabled soon (most devs have just got back in the office).
2. Soon, it’s tied with preview links but they are working on sating “old”/end-players mostly.
3. Don’t hold your breath for this one.
I just feel like my revolutionary MMORPG that I bought before it was released last August has changed it’s toon so dramatically lately.
I do not want to see more one day events or one day sales.
~~~~
I do not want to see more one day / limited time events or offerings.
Because Wintersday and Halloween were both one day events where you HAD to login to get your special items, like in GW1.
Oh wait, no, they have a week and a half where you can redeem the special items.
Most players should have known they were going on sale due to the fact that they were announced on about the 2nd or so.
Finally someone who understands logic.
She gives you keys for commendation tokens, which is basically gold —> keys without doing gems and CAN be cheaper.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, they should not have been in the Wintersday Boxes, all the Permanent Contracts are available in the Black Lion Chests, but they had a 2x drop rate during Wintersday. (Partially why Lyns was unavailable during Wintersday.)
Firstly, I never said it was 100%. I suggest you re-read my previous post more carefully.
Woah, woah, woah, let me stop you right there…
Furthermore, you pay 300 gems (roughly 4-5G) for a BL salvage kit with only 25 uses. This should be enough leverage to have a 100% for ecto.
And then let’s continue….
Now secondly. I’m sorry but how is getting ectos, especially 250, an easy task? There are two ways, salvage or buy, but both are tedious to say the least – the latter would seem the more prefered choice seeing as the prices are quite high. Those who have high number of ectos already are controling a large portion of the market because many of the “end game” achievements require ectos. Hence why the “gap” is currently, IMO, too large.
So then it’s not hard to see why it would be a bannable offense to be able to get 250 ecto’s with 1 ecto and not having to spend anything (relatively).
It would seem that players prefer to get gold and trade for ectos – while others make a bucket load of $$$. If the process of getting ectos were less tedious, then players, generally speaking, would be less inclined to use the TP and CHEAT.
Except people CHEATED [the ecto method] and DID NOT USE THE TP with this offense, which is WHY they were banned.
The reason why players went that road was because the salvage rate and cost for ectos is beyond a joke. Make these two more appropriate and it will remove the incentive for players to try and “rip off” the economy. IMO, ANet should be perma banned as well.
It’s a joke for a 25% chance to not get an ecto off a rare?
As for the price of ectos, that’s dictated by the market, which means that the more bots you ban, the higher the price of things. We can’t have a utopia where ectos cost 1c and we have no bots, nor require a large amount of ecto to get/make anything useful, that wouldn’t be a fun game.
The gap betweeen ecto price and chance of getting them is too far appart. If it were not as large, people would NOT be inclined as much to use this exploit.
Reduce the gap and you reduce the number of people willing to cheat. Simple.
Furthermore, you pay 300 gems (roughly 4-5G) for a BL salvage kit with only 25 uses. This should be enough leverage to have a 100% for ecto.
BLSK is not 100% chance for ecto, it’s actually 75%. Master Salvage kit is approximately 60%.
Remember, these percentages are to GAIN ecto, not how many ecto you’re getting. It’s ridiculously easy and fast if you’re willing to put in effort, not if you want to sit LA and get everything handed to you.
The question is not “what” or “why”, but “who”; and ANet has decided that the buy order costs nothing and the seller pays both the listing fee and the sale tax.
Because the seller is making the profit… before we get into all the economic marketing whatnots.
The buyer doesn’t make a profit off of a sale. (At least, not immediately.)
Thank you for not noticing the sarcasm in the legitimate ways I mentioned of making gold in the game while saying that it’s not possible.
That said, you don’t have to pay a listing fee if you don’t go through the BLTC. (disclaimer: I am not condoning any actions contrary to the Terms of Service agreement)
You don’t have to. Player to player “trades” are allowed, but done at your own risk due to no trade system being implemented. Bypassing it is really only advised for use with friends/trusted players (noteworthy to mention: Guildmates, at least, they SHOULD be trustworthy).
Of course this was the plan. The statistical likelihood of someone getting a rare item like this on their first day, by opening a black lion chest they just happen to know how to get the key for.. and that they understand the economics of the game well enough..
Didn’t the lack of any capital letters in Duke’s message give it away?
You can also add them to your friends list and double check their achievement points to verify that it is their first day. Regardless, I would not trust a new player with that much money.
even in gw1 you had to buy the pvp account (cost less ofc) to play gvg, ha,ra,ta,etcetc.
Uhh, in GW1 you could either buy the (any) game for $40 or buy a PvP version for $15. The PvP version had access to those, but if you had the normal game you could also access it.
As for buying the game for only PvP, that’s your call, I don’t see why ANet should refund you. It’s like saying I only wanted to play PvE, I should get refunded 2/3 the cost since I don’t want to WvW or sPvP. (That’s an example, not actually my thoughts.)
Then do tournaments.
Paranoia has reached new horizons
Yeah! Implying a shadowy elite controls the legendaries market is like saying that the average member of the top 1% wealthiest Americans is 80,000 more wealthy than the average member of the bottom 40% Americans. Can’t be true, right?
Wrong: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_inequality_in_the_United_States
GW2 is well on its way following. In fact, USA at least has some mechanisms to tax the rich and offer food stamps to the poor. GW2 has none.
Because it’s not possible to get gold via helping players with the Trading Post (converting goods then selling) and also make gold on your own via dungeon running and/or grinding/farming.
The reason why players went that road was because the salvage rate and cost for ectos is beyond a joke. Make these two more appropriate and it will remove the incentive for players to try and “rip off” the economy. IMO, ANet should be perma banned as well.
You’re paying the black lion trading company. It’s a fee regardless.
BL Merch gives you a Merchant that sells Gathering Tools/Salvage Kits whereas the TP pick up gives you a Trading Post employee (aka allows you to pick up from the trading post).
From what I’ve read, I don’t think the TP Pickup contract spawns a Trading Post NPC the way the consumable does, I think it just lets you use the TP pickup icon from anywhere without having to be physically in front of the NPC.
From experience, I can say you are absolutely… incorrect. It spawns an NPC which shows up on the Minimap (and provides the appropriate icon), lasts for more than 5 minutes (includes death animation/time), and are useable only by you.
You can’t re-activate it until the old ones disappear, meaning there is a window where you can’t spawn/use the TP via the item.
Or perhaps his mail is full?
Less than 200 Total Bans
And 0 of them were right.
If it is as low as 200, then either the playerbase is low or they were some of the most active people.
Anet had handled the situation poorly, it wasn’t a clear cut exploit, and it didn’t deserve a perma ban.
There are many other people who weren’t banned who now have a bad view of Anet for their terrible decision, because many were friends and guildmates who were extremely active.
And were actively exploiting it.
BL Merch gives you a Merchant that sells Gathering Tools/Salvage Kits whereas the TP pick up gives you a Trading Post employee (aka allows you to pick up from the trading post).
You picked it up and mailed it. Of course it won’t be in your inventory.
