Me too, with my pe-….
ahem
Perpendicularly-oriented self-sustaining thermo-nuclear flux capacitor. Also known as George.
Kudu, by far.
Oh? My sources say Kudu’s a guy? But it’s such a… feminine name.
(¬ 3 ¬) Oh you.
Branded Kudu has to be (aesthetically speaking) my second favorite male asura, after Gorr. He’s kind of BA for someone with a girl’s name.
I do want Branded Tier 3 armor with that backpiece and goggles on my Mesmer.
the thing about asura gear is that it is exactly same for males and females. actually, it just uses male skins. just like charr.
i see nothing wrong with that and i know a lot of people welcome it.
there is no need to make every race to have different male and female armor sets. i chose asura for a reason – because i am sick and tired of blatant sexism in my games. i wanted to play a race that puts no emphasis on “girls club” and “boys club”. i don’t want to play a race that thinks there has to be a clear line between “girl toys” and “toy toys”, “girl clothes” and “boy clothes”.
no thanks! i see enough of this sexist nonsense in our society as it is. please let me escape it in the games at least.
Snipped a bit, but just enough so you get the point if you didn’t read his post and can scroll past if you want to read mine.
I have had absolutely NO problems finding gear that looks nice on my character. Although when previewing weapons (particularly ones I can’t wear, anyways), I may have to take off my pants to see them properly, I have no problem with anything on any of my Asura characters.
Both the clothing sets below are made for (the same) Light Armored Asuran and are worn by (the aforementioned) [a] female Asura character.
This is not a female only issue.
My Elementalist has no shoulders. The t2 Sylvari Racial has the same problem just FYI
We’re talking about Asurans in the Asura forum… Your Sylvari T2 has nothing to do with this thread.
Additionally, it kind of sucks that it doesn’t have the shoulders. At least have the shoulders integrated with the helm, like with the Shadow (Dry Bones) Helm.
leet pro gamers will tell you to never backpeddle. If you’re going to kite then you need to strafe and turn. Backpeddling just slows you down and is less effective.
Really it’s up to you. I do it sometimes on my ranger to just help increase lbow distance or whatever. I never do it on my ele or thief.
Funny, because all the leet pro gamers I see backpedal at the start and randomly in fights (wvw, not spvp).

Read the VERY bottom.
On the bright side, you can salvage it for ecto!
While it is a powerful condition cleanser/boon stripper, my problem with it is that condition cleansing needs to be reliable: when I use a condition cleanser I expect it to work 100% of the time. Phantasmal Disenchanter (and also Arcane Thievery) requires the target to be hit, which means it can fail if you’re Blinded, not facing the target, target is invulnerable, target is stealthed, target is obstructed, target is out of range, so on so forth.
If Phantasmal Disenchanter (and maybe Defender too) targets yourself instead of your enemies and is 100% guaranteed to work at any time, then it would be much more useful IMO. Shattering it would cause it to Shatter on the spot, as Illusions without a target already do.
So you want a Glamour that you can Shatter.
If it still doesn’t work after running GW2 as Administrator, try running your Browser as Administrator.
But a question about doing the resets. I gave the support guy down to the hour when I was last logged on yet I was reset several days (up to a week but more likely 4-5 days) pre-hack. Just curious why they went so far back.
2 reasons:
1: So that you can’t just give your gold to your friend, say you got hacked, then have your gold again.
2: They don’t save backups of every character at every interval (hour) of every day.
It should be account bound, not character. Additionally, you were looking at a GW1 Wiki, not the GW2 Wiki.
It occurs on a 30% chance when you use a skill/attack to hit the enemy. It occurs when using both mainhand and offhand weapons, but the mainhand sigil will try first.
Example: You have superior sigil of blood in mainhand and water in offhand.
When you attack, the rng will check if blood worked, then if it didn’t, it will check if water worked.
developers mistake players pay the price, and question about the recipe still not answered and topic is closed. 4 days cant answer a simple question.
200 players banned in a game where the playerbase is > 1 million. Yarr, we sure paid the price.
I’ll repeat myself:
I’d rather see the Mesmer utilise more illusionary weapon skills like Greatsword skill 2. Maybe they could have something like a mainhand shield with skill 1 a sort of illusionary shield thrown like a discus, skill 2 an AoE defend with clone generation and skill 3 a targeted AoE attack. Skill 1 could be the opposite of Greatsword skill 1, where the closer you are the greater your damage output.
Captain America is not a Mesmer.
I remember when people asked for Legendary “Soulbound on Use” instead of Account Bound.
Now, THE SAME PEOPLE, are complaining about their price! Outrageously ridiculous.
Actually, Legendaries were always Soulbound on Use and not Account Bound. It’s somewhat unintentional, I believe, and they may make it so that Legendaries are Account Bound, but not Character Bound. I’m not 100% sure about that, though.
You can also just whack in front of you when they go invisible. They’re still in front of you and they just kind of walk to where the shadowstep ends.
It could also have just been a 3rd upgrade Capacitor.
Get yourself a cheap Invisible or Safe Box/Bag. Store him in one of those, he won’t get deposited when you deposit him and if you have anything you don’t want to accidentally sell, you can also stash it in there.
Uh… it’s more like:
If someone wants to buy, you’ll sell faster.
If someone doesn’t want to buy, you’ll sell slower.
So your friend is helping you get a Legendary for you to list it instead of wear…
Listing fee makes total sense to me. Otherwise, you could list it for “free” and then if you withdraw it, you never paid the tax.
Less than 200 Total Bans
So,John Smith, being an economist, would you mind expanding on why this flake salvaging was an economic exploit, leading up to the terminated accounts?
I just want to know why this was an economic exploit to understand and avoid what constitute as a exploit in the future.
Thank you
A recipe that took 1 ecto-based material to craft, instead of 5 that all other similar recipes require. A recipe that was profitable not to use/sell the crafted item, but to salvage it because the salvaged components were more valuable than the material used for crafting.
Exploit.
Might have been an exploit but who made the recipe that way to begin with certainly wasn’t the people whom discovered that it yielded 1-3 ecto’s and the snowflake, now was it?
Hence why it was an exploit and not an intended feature.
If you read the bottom of the chest, it should say “these cover the legs” or something, so yes.
Also make SURE that you use signet of illusions… Clones stay alive longer for you to put more out and if you run through all your shatters you can still reset them all by activating the signet.
I leveled without it, I didn’t really like it. If anything, I was running Signet of Inspiration BEFORE it was fixed. Why? Not much else to run.
Then again, I was an Asuran so Radiation Field <3.
Do people really blind clones?
If you put it on, you SHOULD see pants. a lot of overalls overlap pants (see: CoE light armor and Witch’s Outfit)
Yeah, I do kind of like the heal on shatter, but I don’t like it being 30 points in on Inspiration. Either it needs to get bumped to 20 points, or there needs to be another useful trait at 20, since you go 30 points deep and you literally get nothing pertaining to shatters at the 20 point mark (there being only 1 shatter trait at the 10 mark).
It’s kind of silly, but, I guess it goes for healing mantra builds.
Can somebody explain to me how Shattered Strength was OP but no other might stacking is?
I’ll try.
Shattered Strength was one of the easiest, least time sensitive, and straightforward might stackers in-combat. If you can easily and reliably self-stack >20 might in combat without using utilities or relying on someone else’s fire fields, you have a massive advantage over every other class. Might stacking was just really easy and everyone was doing it.
Sorry, but…
If you can easily and reliably self-stack 20 might in combat without using utilities
If you’re self-stacking 20, you’re using utilities. The only way to sustain 10+ might was to use utilities and blow, literally, all your cooldowns.
If you read other threads pertaining to it, you’d get the answer you’re looking for.
Basically, you would put in 1 ecto and GUARANTEE get more than 1 ecto back.
Making stacks of ectos with only 1 ecto with no drawback is what made this an exploit.
Anet says mesmer phantasams and clones are just regular attacks it follows…
Please provide the source of this quote. I have a nagging feeling that you’ve taken a quote out of context.
Regardless, you’re comparing a Warrior’s direct attack to – what is essentially – a pet’s attack. Apples and Omnomberries.
I believe it was taken from this statement:
“Illusionary Duelist, Phantasmal Swordsman, Phantasmal Mage, Phantasmal Defender, Phantasmal Disenchanter, Phantasmal Rogue, Phantasmal Warlock, Illusionary Mariner, Illusionary Whaler, Phantasmal Berserker, and Phantasmal Warden: These skills must now be cast in line-of-sight of the target. These skills now behave as normal attacks that the mesmer must connect in order to summon the phantasm, and they will fail if the mesmer is blind or the ability is cast on an invulnerable target.”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-November-15-2012/744278
Yep, that’s one of the things that lead me to this conclusion. Plus assorted other things devs have done and said. But this is more than enough.
sooo if phantasms are “normal attacks” they should get full benefits right? by the devs own words sigils shouldn’t be in question but a fact just like all other damage dealing moves. but here is a better question. if phantasms are “normal attacks” they should crit on summon right? what should happen if a phantasm crits?
They do more damage. It’s already like that, herpaderpa.
with 3 other subs that fade in and out of existence
Only on #6 skill. and if it’s the mantra, it’s only when you actually heal with it.
I spent 150 gold gearing my mesmer fully before the server went down how do u think i feel. time to spend more on confusion build set lets go.. or ima just quit and go back to my ele. Has way more damage way more might stacks in seconds AOE HEALS mega healing period. mega ways to get protection PERMA swiftness FTW? Perma FURY FTW?? and they call mesmers OP… sure…..
Then craft your gear, it’s ridiculous how cheap it is when you do things yourself, also use Orbs instead of Runes unless you have/want to blow your gold. (6 Ruby or Beryl Orbs are just as good as Divinity Runes. Additionally, they’re over 10x cheaper, with Beryl being 3x cheaper than Ruby, and Ruby being ~12x cheaper than Divinity.)
In the meantime, one stun breaker is enough to fool a thief burst, but against a mesmer..there is really no point in worrying if your stun breaker is up, because they’ve got a burst available every 10s, and thieves regardless of their initiative system they still rely on a 60s CD elite to do their combo.
Furthermore thieves are not invulnerable when doing their combo and there is another bug which need to be fixed by Anet staff mesmer can still use skills even if the enemy use kd on them, meaning a mesmer can use phase retreat as it’d be a stun breaker, fix it pls Anet
Staff2 keeps you kd, you just teleport away and it pretends like all your skills are available. You can’t actually cast anything you could cast unless it’s cast-able while kd. If you do run Staff2 to go against kd, you only get Staff4 and your utility available (assuming your utility is stunbreak).
They’re going to put character slots on sale, I just hope it’s more than 30% on sale.
How do I know?
If you go https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/3-day-new-years-sale-in-the-gem-store-new-items-each-day/ , at the bottom it says:
for these great sales deals and more!
Either way, I managed to snag 1600 gems at ~28g for it, so I’m content with whatever they put up. I’m just hoping to get 2 character slots and something else.
We should get off the precious metals system and adopt potatoes as our currency. At the end of the day potatoes are worth more than gold. Stranded on a desert island with a sack of gold and it’s worthless, but a sack of potatoes is lunch.
I didn’t know Terry Pratchett played this game!
Hey, bro, don’t be mad because Rinsewind knows his stuff!
I tried cores -> lodestones at one point. Didn’t make very much, but I’m pretty sure I made something. I’m just not so sure the profit is as high as you make it sound. current prices:
charged core = buy order for 1g49s12c
charged lodestone = sell listings for 3g69s50c
Pile of Crystalline Dust = buy order for 5s14c
cost of converting core to lodestone = 2 × 1g49s12c (core) + 25s60c (wine) + 5s14c (dust) + 0.6 SP = 3g28s98c
3g69s50c * 85% = 3g14s07c
now, right now it’s clearly not a good idea to do these, bad example I guess. But I’ve never seen a time when the expected profit would be higher than about 50s. sure, 50s is good, but for the cost required to do it, it’s not that impressive and there are better investments to be had. I see this as more of the best way to turn SP into gold 3g -> 3.5g for 0.6 SP. And during that time, I tend to find more cores than I do SP.
You can do more with Lodestones than just immediately resell them.
I am not certain on this but here is an idea. if you are a thief. look up leatherworking recipes. then based on the title… like noble it should show you stats and level req
There are 2 noble satchels and one of them has the tag “Rare”. It differentiates between the level 35 and 50 armor sets, even though Noble armor sets go all the way to 80 (while staying rare).
Hence why he’s asking for a way to know the difference.
I bought 1600 gems for a total of 28g. And I just bought 800 in the past few hours.
The main problem about the nerf that irked me was the nerf to the might. Getting 16 stacks of might off in a relatively fast manner was a problem, however it was a 36 second cooldown, and I play PvE. With the nerf to the might-gain, there’s no point in running iPersona because it doesn’t synergize with the skill, and then since you’re not running iPersona, you can get rid of the 5 extra points because 3 might stacks on a 11-13 second cooldown (depending on how many points you have in shatter) isn’t really worth a trait slot.
I’ve since then, for PvE, swapped to a 20/20/0/10/20 build focusing on shatters. This build allows me, and all melee players in my party, to gain 100% uptime on vigor and consumes tons of boons on the enemy. I run absolutely no condition removal on my skillbar, opting for generosity/purity sigils to do my condition removal.
Build is here.
It’s pretty good for party play and lets you stay alive for a long period of time without having to disengage. I play with S/S until I’m low with all my defensive skills on cd and then I disengage with weapon swap + more combos. It’s a relatively nice party combo as it lets your tanking allies keep vigor and it strips enemy boons while pushing your conditions onto them.
Basically rundown of this build:
-Still shatter reliant.
-Shatters give Confusion, Boon-removal, Vulnerability to enemies.
-Shatters give Vigor to allies.
I was playing around with Inspiration, and the Heal on shatters seemed nice, but you have to go too far into the tree and the second tier does not offer anything beneficial. The only way to benefit is if you could get both grandmaster traits as they’re both shatter-traits, sadly you can’t, so there isn’t really a point in going that far. If you want to be a mesmer healer, you wouldn’t get the grandmaster traits even if you went all the way in.
There were no suspensions. Permanent bans.
Read response for info.
Reviewing Gaile’s post proved that my post was correct in it’s entirety.
Actually, they were suspended. Very few people were banned.
If you read between the lines, I wrote: The majority of people were suspended, very few were banned.
If you read between Gaile’s lines: The worst were banned.
If you want the actual quote, it would be:
People whose accounts were terminated were the worst offenders.
And
Exploit closed.
Worst offenders terminated.
Actually, they were suspended. Very few people were banned.
I recently posted a similar reply to the same idea, but I guess I will copy you and say it again, but shorter this time.
In addition to the issues Esplen has listed (very sound logic), you seem to fail to understand that preventing items from going back into the TP will result in a lesser quantity out there, in turn resulting in a greater demand, in turn creating a higher value. So what you are really petitioning for is a higher average market cost for all commonly traded goods. Are you sure that’s what you want?
Besides, I think if you actually understood and KNEW how to profit of the TP, you probably would. My best guess is that you think so lowly of them because they are clearly benefiting, and you are not…but that’s not really their fault. I still think that the one thing that would ultimately save everyone money (those of you trying to get that legendary especially) would be improving drop rate. Ultimately it’s the drop rate that determines the value, not the traders.
Albeit, I do dislike the people who profit off of others’ stupidity, cough people who use threads in these sections to inflate prices cough.
I, personally, have been making all my money off of the trade post, but I’m merely turning one object into another, which benefits people who wants the other object.
So you want to cross-post to get your message across?
I understand why you would like that, however it would reduce the value in merchanting, which is something that people enjoy doing. Additionally, you have to draw lines. What if I have X items and I buy more of X items. Which ones can I sell and can’t? What if I store them in my collectibles or stack them together? What happens if I use them to create more items?
It’s too much of a hassle to implement. There are those who will abuse markets, but that happens in real economies as well, and I don’t see that many people complaining to the government.
Whine whine whine.
You guys are a joke. Pretending like it’s impossible to tell between an exploit and what isn’t.
You all knew, stop playing dumb. And stop with these threads pretending you’re in a constant fear that doing the most mundane things will get you banned, implying that the Snowflake thing wasn’t as blatantly obviously exploitative as it was.
This is pretty much my thoughts on this entire thread.
If something you are doing involves something relatively new and is giving you GIGANTIC amounts of profit, it most likely is exploiting the system.
ANet usually says, in the forums, whether or not something is allowed, then proceeds to suspend/act accordingly. Additionally, you won’t get banned if you do it on a small scale, but if you hardcore it, you will get punished. (Think back to the Grawl weapons for precursors, most people got slapped on the hand, but the people who did it super intensely got banned.)
The funny thing with that though is that gold was worth very little, fairly on par with copper in GW2, and yet now gold is worth quite a bit.
And we use platinum to make armor :/
Because there wasn’t any copper, so it was the equivalent. I guess it would make sense if it was the opposite, due to huge inflation, but I guess there was a huge deflation in the market (probably has something to do with the giant hole in Divinity’s Reach) teehee.
Although, you only really need to just login to GW1 then logout, you don’t actually have to talk to Kimmes.
EDIT: Keep in mind: your new gw1 account info is the same as your gw2 info.
I had my name forcefully changed to that of my highest level/most logged character due to having the name Master Bei Shun and the corresponding character names: Master Bei Shun, Master Bei Tin, Master Bei Torre.
However, I used those names with the knowledge that at any given moment they could/would be revoked and have no problem with what happened happening.
