Clones should occasionally dodge roll, because if the real Mesmer dodge rolls then you can just go “Right, clones don’t dodge roll, that’s him!”
All your clones should dodge roll whenever the real mesmer dodges.
This would look awesome with 3 clones out. Quadruple dodge rolls.
And it would spawn a clone in a random spot inside of a grid created by all active illusions/player, targetting YOUR target.
This is why:
1. If you have a signet equipped (other than sig of sillusion but even this one takes time to pop up) it doesn’t show on clones which any kind of decent player will notice in seconds.
True, and even then the SoIllusions takes about 1-3 seconds to appear, which is annoying.
Then again, I find no use for the other Signets in PvE. In PvP, I still don’t like them, personally.
The only Signet I run is Signet of Inspiration for the Jellyfish Fractal Boss and I’m too lazy to change my underwater set, so I run Arcane Thievery, Signet of Inspiration, and the Signet that increases boon duration. Then, when the Jellyfish eats someone, I steal his 25 might and give it to my party.
2. Exploration star. bla bla bla everyone talked about this one for long enough and nothing been done after 5+ months.
It’s fixed, it only shows to allied players. If it’s an enemy, you will not see it. Try going to WvW and look for one, you will never find one on an enemy.
3. Their attack speed is much slower and very noticeable to someone who pvp enough.
This is my main problem both in and out of PvP, it’s not like they have significant damage.
4. Boons. Its okay if clones can’t have boons on them BUT it must show all boons the player have on their clones as well (even tho they’re only boon images and don’t get their effects). Anyone half decent will always use attacks on the mesmer with all the boons which breaks the whole point of fooling your opponent.
That can be a problem, though. What if I gain a boon? What if my clone gains a boon? Easily fixed, yes, but I’d rather have the attack speed fixed than this.
5. This one is something i never heard anyone mentioning on this forum. Why don’t clones attack when running into a target for being shattered? lets say im at 900 range and run to my target to rupt with illusionary Wave. Will i be spamming skills while doing so? Yes. this is what clones (notice, i say clones and not all illusions) should be doing when their target is at range and the mesmer uses F1-F3 shatter, they walk to your target while at the same time attacking until they reach melee ranger and explode from shatter.
Not just that, but Phantasms have a problem when shattering, sometimes they just run up to them and stay for until their normal attack comes off cooldown, then they shatter.
This isn’t as apparent on Clones since their attacks are relatively low on a cooldown.
None of these points would make mesmer OP, just do what they’re supposed to do, fool the enemy.
I agree.
If you don’t mind the cooldowns, running as an Asuran lets you get Field-tags. Staff 5 + Radiation Field = <3 (Even for leveling).
Not sure what you just typed there… and well To be honest if it was supossed to be funny I’ll say: Try again.
The Shatterer is a dragon in the game.
No Sh** Sherlock
I know who the Shaterer is. I just don’t know what was his point.
Imagine 2 Shattercat Mesmers in sPvP. Now one of them is a male and the other is a dragon.
I was planning one, and for simplicity and cheapness’ sake, I was going to run Explorer’s with 5 Runes of the Traveler and 1 Rune of Noble/Pirate.
For rings, I would go Explorer’s as well (since the Wayfarer Ascended only give 5% instead of 10%, but if I had a choice, Wayfarer’s would be better stat-wise).
Also, craft those items. If you don’t want to craft them, you can do CoE for Traveler clothes, which will give you Power/Cond as your secondary stats, but I personally feel like the ConDam is useless since all your Conds are pretty much Bleeding which revolves around critting (unless you run Staff, but even that doesn’t get Conds out THAT fast). Sure, you can run some Confusion builds, but this is PvE and mobs tend to hit ridiculously slow, so you’ll be lucky if you get 2 Confusion hits for each stack duration.
Weapons, I would suggest just doing CoE Traveler items if you can’t craft them as well, but MF is a huge undertaking.
EDIT: If you can’t afford Runes of the Traveler, go with 5 Runes of the Noble, it takes ~6 CM runs (with the full 60 reward) to get them. The MOST it will take you is 8 full reward runs (assuming 0 bags of wondrous goods and 60 reward on completion).
Focus is great for dungeon speed runs, but the utility you get form it is mostly only useful if you can get the reflects off as well. With Wardens being unable to move, it means you pretty much must spec into it to get the full effect, forcing you to put 20 points into inspiration.
Now, 20 points in Inspiration is a great thing to do, but remember that it also means that you’re not getting as much damage output.
If we compare that 20 points of Inspiration to 20 points in Dueling, we’ll see that we’re getting some defensive capabilities (manipulation cooldown, cond remove on heal, focus reflect, vigor on shatter) in place of clone spawning (for more shatters/damage), bleeding damage (minor, but still damage), critical rate (for swords), and more damage in general.
If we compare that 20 points to Domination, we’re losing out on lots of Vulnerability stacks and, essentially, the entirety of Diversions usefulness in PvE (although the daze itself is nice, it’s use is more of a quick 25 vuln stacker, especially because so many PvE boss spells are picky).
An example of a picky PvE boss spell is Kholer. If you see him charging his pull and you pull a Diversion which successfully “interrupts” him. He MIGHT cancel his pull, but will proceed to spin, regardless. If you see him finish his pull, then successfully “interrupt” him, he will continue to spin.
Same deal with pretty much everything the Svanir Fractal Boss does. The list goes on quite a long way.
Back on topic, however, Focus is great if you’re going against targets that don’t move, but if your target tends to move a lot or switch targets OR if your party loves to run away (something which shouldn’t happen often in a speed run), then you should switch to a different offhand.
I haven’t pvp’d yet but having to jump several times just to cast a skill is frankly ridiculous. The problem will not go away either due to the LoS nerf. I wonder if the devs have tried this themselves.
Honestly, I find it ridiculous that your skill goes on cooldown if out of range, LoS not there, obstructed, and all of that kittenuff, making phantasm spawning an extremely finicky trial. That, and spawning things is also super picky.
Say I start casting my Phantasm while out of range. If I get in range before I finish the cast, it will spawn.
Now let’s say I start casting a Clone while out of range (Sword3 is one of the few Clone-spawns that requires a cast). If I get in range before I finish the cast, it will spawn.
Inversely, however, if I start casting my Phantasm while in range and get out of range, the Phantasm will not spawn.
If I start casting a Clone while in range and get out of range, the Clone will still spawn (occasionally… >.>)
Make sure you jump during the “hit”/activation of the spell, not just while you’re casting.
If you’re not sure, make sure that you’re mid-air during the moment whatever it is spawns/hits. If it’s a Staff1, make sure you’re mid-air when the projectile touches them. If it’s a Phantasm, make sure you’re mid-air when the cast time finishes. If it’s a clone, it goes off regardless of obstruction (unless it’s something similar to GS2).
It still doesn’t work when a transformation is applied, but it does work in those two instances of it. When I noticed it (on the 28th) I updated the patch notes on the Wiki to include it in the “Guild Wars Wiki Notes” part of that update, however it still does not apply to transformations such as the “Growth Tonic” transformation which does not affect your skills. (It does, however, work with the Hylek color potions, but does not get applied to the illusions.)
Hey – I’m a warrior. I stumbled across this post by chance!
My knowledge of endgame is very limited – I know, however, that as a warrior, I need to be working on Citadel of Flame. Or at least, so I’ve been told. This is the first I have heard of serious group composition, so, I am here representing the warrior. What’s the goal here, and what am I aiming to do in order ot be useful for my group?
Is there anything I -should- be doing in order to make sure i’m not just dragging my group down?
Increase your damage output. Focus on doing the most damage you can the fastest you can to survive.
For the last boss, if you go down, simply break a crystal, since it’s faster than reviving.
For a Mesmer, try running shatter builds to allow you to deal massive amounts of damage.
I personally run a shatter build and it helps me increase my damage output by a huge amount without opening myself up to damage. I’m able to mitigate all the damage from boss-fights and rarely go down during the final boss and Slaver.
Understanding the bosses attacks helps a ton because I can evade his attacks with rolls, distortion, and evasion (blurred frenzy). The shatter build helps mitigate damage because it revolves around rolling and making clones which act as damage targets.
Welp, I thought color was supposed to be randomized to some extent. Which would mean that we’d be in a 1/27 luck draw.
Carrion isn’t a buff. Carrion weapons are a weapon archetype.
SO YOU GET ON NOW, I got off GW like an hour ago because you weren’t on and I was helping the BL’s, but then I got off and coded some…
I’ve pretty much been whoring AR BL last week, but all that I could do was steal the supply and sentries around our base. This week, I’ll probably still be in AR BL since BP has a lot of strong WvW guilds in their BL.
And the Grub… man, I kept telling people to help me kill it, but nobody would do it (this was like a month ago). Eventually, I started to solo it, but right before I finished, a zerg came and wiped me.
Can someone please explain to me why NSP has been Red team 3 weeks in a row? It’s a tad depressing as we suck at holding other BL and I have 99% map completion with everything BUT Green and Blue BL’s.
Go to the Heart of the Mists and you can get all Sigils for Free along with Free Trait respecs.
Question:
Why did you post this thread as a question thread if there is no question questioning the players in this thread; it is questioning the existence of this thread, is it not?
Also, if you’re super poor, you can check out

To find out which armor you want that is available from Dungeons (if possible).
That will make it take a tad longer, but will grant you gold AND gear for practically free.
I’ve been sitting on all my karma stuff, I have nearly 200 gulps and about 50 jugs. With the bonuses, that’s a… lot of karma sitting there. Additionally, I’ll hop into WvW to do my dailies and just solo supply camps/kill dolyaks/claim land.
In GW2? Just ask in map chat.
In GW1? Google and towns are your best bet. Just try to be friendly and people will hook up with you (in terms of guilds and stuffs).
Keep doing your dailies (and save the jugs for Boosters + Banners + Outmanned + Ice Cream). Other than that, just play the game, I don’t know of any “zergfarm” atm, unless your world is at a good place in WvW where you can keep taking towers/keeps all day.
There are a lot of GW1 HoM guilds. I don’t have a link to one, but you should be fine. If you need to, go incognito and join a GW1 guild, they have good communities that are willing to help you progress, but don’t specifically state that you’re doing it for GW2. In fact, it’s best not to talk about GW2 in general in GW1 unless you’re in a GW2 HoM Grind guild.
Uhh, you can also stack that with Outmanned, Guild Banner, and Ice Cream!
Lol… always complete your daily. You don’t have to go that far out of your way to finish it, and it gives you 10% of your level upon completion (not including each achievement giving you experience). Additionally, you get a jug of karma (4,500 without using any boosts) and a Mystic Coin (~15s on TP).
Mimic is so nice on shatter builds, have you ever done a 12shatter (f3 + f2 + f1) on a player in sPvP or WvW?
You are probably thinking of mirror images
Dangit, you’re right. Mimic is like Arcane Thievery. One of those skills I want to run, but can’t due to the fact that it’s not really THAT useful.
Have you ever considered perma-stealthing the puzzle?
Us in SoR have a dedicated guild for securing our jumping puzzles. It’s a valid tactic and quite important too.
It only lasts 5 minutes, although that should be plenty of time. However, the darkness may prove to be difficult with no lights.
Try clicking the Take All button, regardless of what you see.
Pet swap.

Endurance is seen as the yellow/orange bar above your health. It should be a curved rainbow-like line (not rainbow in color, just in curviture). You’ll be able to roll if you have at least one “bar” of it, denoted by the middle line (2 bars).
Karma booster does improve karma gain. You can also stack it with Karma Banners, Outmanned, and Ice Cream Consumables.
The star is for characters who complete the world, not accounts. The title is account-wide.
Dolyak is cheaper than Runes of Divinity which give a total of 60 to all stats (including secondary stats) and 12% critical damage (highest achieve-able through runes/crests).
Additionally, the Dolyak 6th effect is only 30 hp/sec due to a bug.
If you’re using Mumble, you can Suppress the key. What that does is it makes the key ONLY activate VOIP, however, it also means that any other binds with that key will be rendered useless.
Grab a Ghastly Weapon (from the Ascalonion Catacombs Dungeon Vendor) and proceed to equip it when you feel like it may be night time. You’ll have to unsheathe your weapon (an unbound key unless you use any weapon skill). If the Ghastly Weapon starts to glow, it is night.
gw2lfg.com and don’t buy armor with gold.
Personally I recommend bank space and/or character slots.
Do not listen to the people who recommend buying gems with gold … in the end, you buy gems to support a good game. That’s the main reason. I have 1400 gems I don’t do anything with atm but that’s totally fine with me.
I’ve put in over $20 in gems and have the Digital Deluxe edition (from purchase, not gems) of the game. There is, however, a problem with me continually buying gems with real money and that’s that I have to go to school and have no source of income. I also have to provide food for myself, which puts me at a very, very little amount of extra money.
I understand, but you should understand that Colin, John, Rubi, Gaile….., their partners and their kids also need to eat. As such you should support people buying gems at all times, even if you won’t buy them yourself. This game has a monthly upkeep and if it’s not paid, it can and will shut down due to lack of funds.
Make sure to finish school, don’t spend too much time in the game, especially not during finals. That way you can buy anything you want (within reason). I just made the last payment for my car today, gems are cheap in comparison
Let’s say GW2 has 500,000 players.
That means Colin, John, Rubi, Gaile, their partners and kids have gotten $30,000,000 WITHOUT including Gem sales.
My maffs:
500,000[players] * [$]60 = [$]30,000,000Which is next to nothing. Arena.net currently has 270 employees. At a very modest average salary of $3000, which is pretty low for top talent in the industry, that’s $810,000 every month or $9,720,000 per year. Considering the game has been in development for 5 years without any income, that is $48,600,000 of costs in salary just to ship the game. A low ball which does not include server costs, rental of office space, advertisement, expo costs etc etc etc.
I understand that $30,000,000 seems like a lot to a student, but in reality it’s pocket change. If Mike O’Brien doesn’t have $810,000 lying on his desk every single month, he can’t pay his staff. If he doesn’t have $3,000,000 saved up, he can’t go to PAX or E3. Those are very real figures.
And ANet has sold more than 500,000 copies of the game.
I was using 500,000 for a realistic view on how many sales had occured. 3,000,000 sales is 6x that many, so they have $180,000,000 to pay their staff. (Again, not including Gem sales.)
Honestly, I’d be willing to buy gems with cash if I wasn’t sitting on about $250 as total money for living expenses (minus rent) for the next three months.
The button #6 on your keyboard.
From 1-60, I was doing areas lower level than me (I was completing the map from the areas with the lowest level, starting with towns —> starting zones —> etc, etc.)
At around 45, I took a break from low level, got to a nice spot and then did some quick and dirty solo grinds at Straits of Devastation (doing Storyline —> just completing SoD —> finishing storyline and got to ~78 with the level 80 quests left).
The storyline/bloodtide got me to about 52, then I went to crafting a bit (I was keeping my crafts at my level) and I proceeded to just work towards Storyline/continue slowly mapping places.
I would take breaks and head to lower level areas if I felt bored or anything, but mainly I was in areas 5-12 levels higher than me after doing Bloodtide (I was also wearing gear 20-40 levels below me, which was the main pain/problem).
It’s just a matter of taking your time and knowing your limits (and hopefully not overaggroing/having things respawn on you).
Next to the dog food aisle.
Personally I recommend bank space and/or character slots.

Unless the mob was directly on the node, hitting [nothing], it wouldn’t stop a spy kit.
bank space is useful.
However, at lvl 80 you can easily make the in game gold to buy the gems with instead of real money. your choice.
However, he’s lvl 33, at the moment 100 gems cost you 1 gold 60 silver, at that level it’s a lot of gold!
And at level 33, you shouldn’t have a full inventory/bank.

250 Globs of Jelly-Ohs (so as not to be sued).
Any cave in Orr.
If you’re looking for space I would vouch for buying a character slot instead of bag slots or bank slots.
With a character slot you get…
-More space. If it seems inconvenient, use it to store items you almost never use (boosters, tonics, etc.)
-Another character. Try other classes. They are all pretty fun. Use for PVP only if you don’t want to level him.
-Possibility for birthday loot. In GW1 you were given presents on each of your character’s birthdays. It’s possible that making extra characters now will end up paying off later.
Additionally, if you want to do the math:
Character slots are 20 slots with 4 bag spaces that can contain anywhere from 4-20 slots each. (20-100 slots for 800 gems)
Bank tabs are 30 slots for 800 gems.
Bag slots are 4-20 slots for 600 gems.
What do the consortium ones look like?
Attached.
Just buy orbs instead of runes. The Dolyak6 is 30 hp/sec, and the Soldier weapon swap isn’t that useful, due to weapon swap sigil cooldowns interfering.
There’s the basic looks, the “special” looks (obtainable from Qualdup and a few other karma vendors), and the Consortium ones.
Seems like people really don’t care about the mesmer’s skills at all. They just want mesmers out of the game.
The more posts i read about stuff like this the more I feel that way… :/ Its such a fun class and really has a higher skill cap than people try to give it credit for.
If you go to the Mesmer forums, people are whining about how strong XX skill is (people who don’t play the class).
If you proceed to read the comments, it’s mostly people saying: This is easy to counter, you can do X, Y, or Z. Also, try learning a Mesmer before saying they’re ridiculously overpowered. They take a LOT of skill to play correctly.
I, myself, have been running around and playing as if I’m using a Concert Piano, but if I make a single mistake, it usually means a death, especially when playing ridiculously challenging opponents.
Portal has already been nerfed, if people want every class to have a Portal, then ANet should also re-buff Portal to what it was before.
It’s not like it would be any different, since everyone can already Portal, anyways. (And it’s not like it’s going to break WvW or anything.)
Recap on the WvW break: Both re-buffing Portal and giving Portals to everyone would do that.
Additionally, Thieves have a Portal/Blink-type skill, Elementalists have a Blink-type skill. Engineers have a Staff2/Blink-type skill. Warriors and Guardians have gigantic gap-closers/leaps. Necromancers have… I don’t even know, this is the profession where I have the least knowledge.
Mimic is so nice on shatter builds, have you ever done a 12shatter (f3 + f2 + f1) on a player in sPvP or WvW?
I never truly used a shatter build until 80 and I can say that Mesmers are not forced into shattering for any reason.
I ran a Phantasm build for PvE until finding the opnerfplzshatterbuild and have been using it ever since. It’s not because I agree with it, it’s because it’s more work, and more fun. The damage output increase is minimal, but it makes me actually do work in PvE and PvP.
I feel like I’m playing a Concert Piano and getting rewarded for it, whereas my Phantasm build, I was seeing high numbers like 8000+, but it was slow and all it was was feeding more Phantasms (drop 3 Phantasm, wait until one dies, drop another).
Plus, the feeling is so rewarding in PvP when a player goes for your clone since you comboed yourself so well that they get confused.
