I’ve been playing around with the Boon Dispencer build posted earlier. I can’t seem to get the timing down on Signet of Inspiration for long fights, so I end up wasting a Chaos Storm and then have to wait the duration on the SoI. I mostly want to look at your trait setup since I have no intention of running Mantras… yet. If I agree with your trait setup more than my current one, I’d probably swap.

well the main appeal for ascended amulets is the utility infusion slot which doesn’t guarantee you Agony Resist.

You can always be a dick and use Spy Kits on Brazier.

I like the boon buffer build, but you can pretty much only run it if you have 2 mes since you need 2 utilities and you can’t drop 2 for blink+port.

The damage of Mind Stab is pretty low to use as a DPS source. However, it’s great for removing a boon from Bosses; you can take away a whole stack of Might in one move — it can help your party to a certain extent.

If any boss has that much might you might as well run Arcane Thievery.

Additionally, you can only get the daily rewards for the levels you’ve completed. If you do 10 and you’ve only gotten to 5, you won’t get the daily reward for 10.

If, however, you are at 9, and you do 10, you WILL get the daily reward, but it will count as a 2/4/6/8 daily chest, not a 10 daily chest.

I do it the way I also do. Run in and dodge a few times, hope my clones take aggro. Mid-commune I’ll hit Mirror Images and then F4 shatter for 3-4s of invuln and finish.

Apparently there is a cooldown between revives. It may be there to stop people from repeatedly suiciding themselves by leaping off high places so that others can rez them.

A good low level spot for revives is the Thaumanova Reactor in Metrica. Lots of dead NPCs in there.

Makes sense, otherwise you’d get your daily revives by getting 2 people in Fractals and jumping off the side in the lobby.

I just swapped to a boon build and it’s great, I have 21s swiftness on focus and when signet of inspiration procs, that’s 17.5 secs more. No blink in my build, though.

On the other hand, open world mobs drop peanuts. Thus bosses in dungeons would be your next stop. Just don’t be lamenting your uber gold drops while in the party. There’ll be unhappy people.

60% bonus gold find + omnom = 100% bonus gold find = each run of AC path 2 (assuming kholer, no troll, both champs, and the final boss) would give you 60s + finish 32s = 1g per run from gold drops alone.

I recently read old posts (prior to release) by a GW2 developer on twitter that are kind of laughable now…

It was something along the lines of “We want crafting to be an integral part of the game and a good way to make money.”

I’ve made over 800g crafting. It’s simply a matter of checking prices against each other, don’t just craft something because it looks like it sells high.

There are two general mentalities without looking at power traders and market manipulation and all that snazz:

Buy/Sell, the Profiteer:

• Always checks prices against each other to make sure he is making a profit, even if it is a small one.
• Never makes anything that will not net him profit.

Got it/Don’t got it, the Casual:

• If the materials are owned and the price is decent, will craft and sell, regardless of the net worth of items used.
• Doesn’t really care about buying and selling, just uses what he has to make a little bit of profit.

Both of them are “making” money. One makes more than the other, but it doesn’t really matter as the latter is having more fun with the game.

Overall, I enjoy the build, but I’m going to go 10/0/30/10/20 instead of your 10/0/30/0/30. I also will be running Sword/Focus + Staff instead of Scepter, since the Scepter doesn’t add much to the build for the way I play it, in fact it tends to gimp me since I sit in Scepter building for a shatter instead of going back to Staff to get more boons.

I would also use a sword. You can Illusionary Leap from Temporal Curtain to get Retaliation. You could also use Precision/Toughness/Condition gear instead of Carrior gear and put Sigil of Strength on the sword for more Might.

I don’t even use Condition gear. This is a support build, so I built support. I just ran dungeons today and we went ridiculously fast even with low levels and inexperienced players simply because I was constantly giving people 40-80% uptime on pretty much every boon that a Mesmer can get.

Actually, that’s a misconception. Some weapons that are long will clip through the ground making it seem like they grow upon unsheathing.

Regardless, I would suggest the Asuran. If you do not like it, transmute it onto a white item and then you can transmute it onto an Exotic on your Norn.

Having participated in each possible daily and finished the monthly thus far, I have yet to receive one through these means. So you are either rather fortunate to do so, or I am very lucky in the unfortunate sense. If you could provide some evidence supporting the odds of receiving them that would be helpful.

It is a ridiculously low chance, as I stated. Your wording said that there are recipes that require items that are ONLY obtainable through the Gem Store. There are no such recipes. There are booster recipes, but boosters are obtained through Gem Store and Black Lion Chests. Black Lion Chests are obtained through Gem Store and drops. Black Lion Keys are obtained through Gem Store and drops.

In the end, everything is possible without going to the Gem Store, just don’t expect things in the Gem Store to get handed to you.

I would suggest traiting for Illusionary Persona instead of Dazzling Glamours so you get an extra stack of Might every time you shatter.

First off, Illusionary Persona doesn’t work with Shattered Strength since the nerf patch, iirc.

Actually, it might be better to go for Imbued Diversion, as it chains with Bountiful Interruption. If you don’t like Imbued Diversion, you can just drop Shattered Strength altogether and go 10 in Inspiration, grabbing Vigorous Revelations which provides 100% uptime to melee party members. You can then use that to play melee instead of range as the Scepter provides next to nothing for this build. It has 1 line daze which is relatively useless, so other than a clonefactory (which is ridiculously slow, I’ll just stick with Staff) it’s just a mainhand for the Focus. Sword actually gives you some offense and mitigation, along with a fast clone-creation that can be used with Focus to get more retaliation.

I also suggest swapping out Master of Misdirection with Confusing Cry (Cry of Frustration grants retaliation).

And heres the silly question, does the controller need to be on? For example the green light showing on the guide button.
The reason I ask that is because my xbox is fairly near my PC, and i dont want the controller to be switching on my xbox everytime i want to use it on PC.

Unfortunately, to use a wireless Xbox controller on a PC you will need something called an Xbox Wireless Gaming Receiver (see attachment) since the charge cable does not carry any data from the device.

Once you have one of those simply press both the button on the receiver and the button on top of the controller, near the battery pack at the same time to sync the two devices up.

IF you already have a wireless 360 controller, you can buy said receiver off Amazon for something like $15 after shipping and handling. They’re cheap, so don’t let it bar you from using your wireless controller.

To be honest, you’re probably better off getting the wireless receiver on Amazon (buy the official one, I’ve heard the 3rd party ones are flakey) or a PS3 controller. Honestly, I’d love an official wired 360 controller, but they’re getting harder and harder to find. I can tell you from experience, 3rd party wired 360 controllers tend to be off a bit, particularly for aiming on the sticks (I own one and can’t seem to aim smoothly on right stick, it has issues recognizing vertical and horizontal plane movement at the same time, it’s more 8-way than analog).

You can buy Wired 360 Controllers directly from Microsoft, but be warned, the left stick may get damaged in shipping and be a bit loose.

As for the looks concerning armor, it really doesn’t matter. Try both and see what you like better

As for my definition of Crusader, Guardian is more… of what it depicts. Also, the armor means nothing, they both get the same armors and looks.

Have an enemy targetted while in combat/range and have them be behind you. It’s a lot more reliable than turning camera around manually (using shortcuts isn’t a guarantee forward blink).

Actually, as bizarre as this may sound, i know where he’s coming from. There are things on my necro that i wouldn’t attempt on my mes, mostly due to lack of aoe. I doubt i am a good necro player, but since i traited a bit into on-DS traits it feels stronger than my mes (both rare-geared) as it takes less dmg and kills mobs faster. Thing is, mesmer takes more player skill to play, it’s a much more active/cd awareness class than necro likely because we have effects tied to our illusions. It has a higher level of micro-management than the necro. On the other hand, i won’t go to southsun on my necro as he has no reflects/blocks. Apples and oranges?

Yeah, I’ve put in 800 hours on my Mesmer and I just went Guardian to have some fun. I was surprised at the fact that all my weapon skills are on cooldown at times, forcing me to just sit there and auto attack. As a Mesmer, I’m always doing something and I rarely get more than 1 3-chain sword attack off at once.

I remember you from gw2 therms of agreeement that the use of 3rd tools aka scripts etc are not allowed, u might also get ban for that. There was a topic about combat mode, and anet staff replyed on it.

They stated that they will not approve of it so that they don’t mislead people, however players are allowed to use it. Just don’t complain here if your account gets hacked from third-party software or if your game breaks.

Note: Combat Mode will not break your game or steal your account… at least, to my knowledge.

There are only a few Giants which count towards this. Most of the Giants you see are Risen Giants, therefore they count as Risen.

I like the idea behind this, but I would actually make a variation of this build for more support than what you have. I also don’t really like the choices of your Illusion-Tree Traits, but there really aren’t that many useful choices there.

The only problem I have with this build is when I want to do dps, I would not be able to swap back.

And suddenly I see you use a Scepter. I will run this build (with my variations, of course).

If you’re going to play with a controller, try looking at Combat Mode.

Fine, if you want an answer directly relating to the question you asked, instead of exercising individuality: Go Berserker’s with that setup. If you have trouble surviving with Berserker armor, use Valkyrie weapons for a tad more survivability. Otherwise, just go full Berserker’s.

Yes, there is. You can use the transmutation trick to get the skin onto a white item and give it to your other character, and then transmute an exotic onto it to get the stats you want.

There is a specific process to do this that I don’t know offhand though. Google transmutation trick or wait for someone else to post the method

That’s the method. There’s only a trick to doing it if you’re trying to transmute items higher level than the character transmuting (as you’re not “supposed” to be able to do that).

The trick, in that case, is to place the item with the skin you want on the left side.

It’s one. You can move it around, but you best be careful when deleting characters. You can also delete the item itself.

Support will most likely not help you when and if you destroy it unless your account was hacked.

Even if your account was hacked it’s not a sure bet that they will do anything to restore it.

If your account gets hacked and you can prove it, you can get your account restored to a previous state. It’s a very, very narrow opportunity and not easily reproduced.

Focus on the smale scale battles. The large zerg-fights most people aren’t specced specifically for them, so just worry about the fights where the stats matter.

Using that knowledge, I don’t know what you run in small-scale, so it’s still up to you.

If you’re not planning on farming dungeons, try and get beefy setups. People expect heavy armor wearers to survive and you’re not going to do that running full-squish. It also gives you a bit more leniency when making mistakes.

If you’re planning on farming dungeons (namely CoF), go Berserkers.

it shows you how many you currently own. the grayed out attributes are ones you will not get. eg you have 1 rune, you will get the effect of the one with the 1 next to it.

If you ahve 2 runes, you’ll get BOTH 1 and 2.

OP hasn’t tried the Illusionary Crossbow that you get from Mystic Forging a lvl80 exotic longbow, rifle, focus and greatsword together.

See, it lets you fire greatsword bolts at 2400 range that inflict confusion and bleed on hit, and are passively AoE due to their “shatter on impact” trait. However, don’t be fooled! You can also split it in two in melee creating illusionary pistolswords, which allow you to use the iDuelist’s Unload combined with Blurred Frenzy for at least 6s at a time, on an 8s CD. 5s, if you trait for it.

Obviously you’d think our weapons suck if you didn’t even bother to learn how to use this puppy.

It’s made with NAMED Exotics, not just Exotics, but…

Scepter is better.

Perhaps the way you present yourself in person is a tad ‘off’ and people don’t seem to connect with you. You might also say something that seems right to you, but not to others. Too much reflection and not enough reflection are both devastating. Don’t think about it, and just enjoy yourself.

I wouldn’t mind the GW1 weapon set system even if it was only in an “out of combat” style, since it would save a lot of time constantly going to the inventory to drag. Also adding like 1-2 optional buttons for use items, such as food.
