Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
It’s a problem with joining the spectator team. Fix is planned for the next scheduled update.
I describe exactly how dishonor works here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Dishonored-Details/first#post3389177I want to reiterate that we will continue to watch the numbers and change them as we see fit. Obviously we don’t want to punish people with poor internet, but players who consistently disconnect should expect to gain dishonor. Disconnecting is no different than leaving. If you have disconnected twice in one night, you should probably take a break until your internet is more stable before trying to play more.
Problem is that it is not always the case on our end but instead, on Anet’s end.
If that is the case, then please open support tickets so we can get the problem resolved.

The system is working as intended. You left 3 times all on December 20th. (time zones may vary).
This is one of our wish list items that we just never really have time to get to. Both live, detailed stats in-game for spectators and robust post-match summaries is definitely something we want one-day. Everyone loves graphs
I would just keep doing what you’ve always been doing. Collect skins. Craft all the skins you can but don’t already have. Make some dyes
Fixed internally, but won’t ship until its bundled with other things. (Internal process etc etc) It will be retroactive, so don’t worry about getting it sooner than later.
If you return to a match after a disconnect or switch classes, you will not gain dishonor.
We are always watching ‘the numbers’ and have the ability to change the variables of dishonor as we see fit. If we think lowering one number or raising another will reduce the amount of leavers and afk players, then we will certainly do it.
Simple version: You can leave a maximum of 3 games every 3 day period. Those could be spread out: If you leave once a day, you effectively lock yourself out every 24 hours. They could be stacked quickly: Leaving 3 times in one day means and cannot play almost the maximum of 72 hours.
(edited by Evan Lesh.3295)
You have only gained dishonor twice from AFK and twice from leaving in the past week. I speculate while you may have behaved like an AFK player, you did not actually get kicked by AFK detection. Could you describe how you ‘tested’ dishonor exactly?
Dishonor caps at 3.
Achievements advancing from personal score instead of rank points is a bug. When it is fixed, it will be retroactive unless some horrible code demon prevents it. I wouldn’t stress over getting personal score to advance the achievement right now.
Please send me this one line of code. I haven’t found it myself yet, so this would greatly reduce my workload!
In seriousness though, what you saw was not dueling. We have to ability to change our teams using cheats, which would cause a free-for-all in the lobby. What you really want is only two players hostile towards each other, which is much more complicated that using teams.
Can you do this instead? this sounds much much better Free for all in lobby sounds like the best time Ever, put it on a timer like every 15 minutes o_O
Maybe there can be a free for all pit you can jump into People trying to duel would get angry if other’s jumped in though.
Please send me this mystical one line of actual c++ code. I haven’t found it myself yet, so this would greatly reduce my workload!

Quickfoot has the right idea. Things are never easy.

Both good ideas! I believe we normalized player models in Super Adventure Box if I’m not mistaken, so it’s probably something we can look at applying to PvP. As far as rewards, gold would be amazing. We’re currently on making rewards in PvP amazing (“Incredible!”), and I’m sure everyone will love it They will roll out in steps, though. So when you see one patch, don’t think that it’s the only thing we have planned.
Please read the sticky about lag in PvP and use the guidelines there for reporting latency issues. Thanks!
who cares about town clothes in PvP… I prefer a better pvp experience that is rewarding and balanced. after we have that, I’m fine with whatever cosmetic changes you what to implement.
Seriously… there are far more important stuff to attend and to spend time and resources on.
But what if getting town clothes IS rewarding? Unless you mean the satisfaction of winning.

Can’t someone just make “PvP Town Clothes” skins?
Hey Evan – on another note: how does ANet determine how much money tPvP is making them from the Gem Store? For example, how do they know players are buying finishers for the sake of PvP and not PvE, or skins for the sake of PvP and not PvE?
“Just”. People keep using that word… :P The answer is no, we can’t just make pvp town clothes. Our goals are not to split the game even more with separate equipment.
Side note: Numbers. Lots of numbers.
Directly allowing the use of town clothes in PvP or any combat situation may sound trivial, but its quite a complicated problem with how the inventory and equipment are structured. That being said, a version of this isn’t off the table. The amount of work for the gain just isn’t something the PvP team has bandwidth to tackle anytime soon. Keep the suggestions coming!
Good catch. We should do something about that so it’s less annoying. Or make it so the extra temporary uses are worth something.
Wanted to hop in here and say that a rating reset will not touch lifetime stats like games played or won. You will keep the total number of games played for each rating type.
The debuff is not visible until your are unable to play. This is partly to prevent negative attitudes towards people who may have accidentally disconnected, and partly because we can’t hide your buffs/conditions for other people.
We are also lowering the amount of dishonor it takes before being unable to play so that it hits more of our playerbase. We watch the numbers closely and we feel that the dishonor system is currently too lenient to have an impact. The AFK timer will also be shortened so that it’s more strict.

I lag every time someone uses Grenade Spam x2.. on point, we had grouch and one other guy spam nades and I would lag out every time; most of my settings are on Lowest and my fps jumps around from 60 to 120
You’re describing graphical lag likely from the overdraw caused by the grenade particle system. You could try turning on effect LOD. Poorly created particle systems always have the potential to bring down even the best of systems. Just go stand in some smoke to confirm This thread is specifically about network lag causing skill delay, rubber-banding, and disconnects.
Here’s some info from a quick google:

We can’t make any headway on this unless you get a chance to post more information. If you are actively lagging, type ‘/ip’ into chat to get your current server’s IP address, and use the tracert command to gather more information. If you do post again, please include the server IP, the time of day you’re lagging, and the map that you’re on.

Ok lagging here also…
Server address is 206.127.146.49:0
Installed the program you specified. I live in the UK. I’m apparently experiencing a consistent 10-20% Packet loss between London and Frankfurt. I occasionally lose an additional 10-20% just before the PlayNC server hop.
Not sure what else I can provide info-wise that you’d be interested in.
This kind of stuff is great! How does your ping relate to lag and packet loss? The info I’ve seen shows ping being relatively fine, but packet loss corresponds to in-game lag.
Telling us which map you’re in helps too, and whats happening in the map. For instance, are you in the middle of a scarlet invasion? Or are you in a fractal?

The reports go directly to CS and they decide what actions to take against reported users. I believe GW1 would automatically add dishonor based on leeching reports:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dishonorable_Combatant_System
It is unintentional. I can’t give you a hard date for when it will be fixed because we’re between hot fixes and patches right now.
Until we get a report option for being AFK, I suggest just report them for botting.
Personal score no longer grants rank.
You answered your own question by pasting the patch notes Personal score is not tied to your rank point gain in any way.
Not sure if the older thread on this issue had a response, but the bug causing the broken rating is fixed and will be in the game next month. Looks like your solo arena rating has already been reset as well. You should be able to continue playing.
Divide by zero once and the whole world falls apart…
The change to ‘Target Nearest’ was unintentional and actually didn’t even reliably use distance before. This was reported in the bug sub forum and has already been addressed. Thanks for the reports! You targeting will be back to normal soon!
Very interesting. We will have to check this out. Thanks for the repro!
This bug has been fixed and will be released soon. Thanks for the report!
The bug has been found and is being corrected. Thanks for the reports!
If anyone experiences lag in a PvP match, please respond with the following information:
Time of day
Map
Match time
Output from using /ip in-game
Tracert results for the ip given to you by /ip

I’ve let my main man Dylan know and he’ll look into it!

The grace period is longer than one week. You can renew it with a single token each week without it being deleted.
The patch notes are missing, but glory and rank points are awarded at the end of the match now. This means no more rejoining to reset your glory cap. This still is not all the changes we’ll make. More to come later.
There are some other missing changes related to PvP. I’m working on getting them on the release notes page.
We have more changes coming to further hinder this type of behavior.
Let’s not turn this awesome thread into an off-topic balance debate :P
It’s all true. /15
Thanks, Evan! I am very happy to hear that. An overall damage breakdown will help teams figure out what’s working well and what is not.
I know you can’t give us a date, but is there a chance we will see any changes to the scoreboard this year?
Very unlikely, we have many other high priority features to work on. This was more along the lines of: “What would an ideal spectator mode have? We need to do that at some point.”
This is definitely on our radar and we’ve talked about it multiple times. This would also useful for spectators to get an overview of match stats per team.
It is explained a couple lines later:
There is an upcoming change that will allow custom arena owners to enable or disable these commands. When enabled, progression will be disabled.
This forum loves analogies :P
PvP is not currently designed to have extensible content. There are maps, which we do make. There are runes and sigils, but there are already an overabundance of them. Finally there are skins, which are added usually with every other update, but how you obtain those skins stem from PvE.
There are no features we can just ‘throw people at’ to give you guys more content. We need more infrastructure and more extensible systems, but those are the hardest to design and take the most time to implement. An example would be a completely reworked reward system. Those are the things we’re working on. It’s taking a lot of time and hard work to get there, but the payoff will be worth it.
We are aware of this and are taking steps to mitigate this type of play.
I do want to say again that while I’ve been very harsh with my opinion here, I do still appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to the thread as a whole. I might not be happy with the current state of PvP, but I’m not just here to bash the game – I’d like to see it reach a better place, and hopefully soon.
I know you all love (or want to love) the game :P
Letting you guys know I’m still reading this thread. This topic comes up a lot and there is usually very little feedback simply because its so hard to explain without going over all of game development.
As for the sibling analogy, clothes are clothes. It doesn’t translate well to the different kinds of updates we release. I think relating to computer updates could be better:
Two siblings. One enjoys buildings and tweaking computers, and using it to its full extent to play the latest and greatest games. The other only uses the computer as a means to do homework, play casual games, social network, etc. The first always wants the latest parts, but they’re very expensive and the parents can only afford them on special occasions. However, lots of software for the other sibling may be easy to acquire because its cheap or free, and readily available. Even though the first sibling still wants software too, it’s relatively useless without those shiny expensive parts. In the end, one sibling gets more presents than the other without knowing how different they really are. I hope that makes sense :P
Items don’t stack in the locker because of storage concerns. Items don’t stack in your inventory because they can have different sigils, runes, or dyes on them.
