My party ran a successful Twilight Assault dungeon and my wife was lucky enough to have an Aetherized Nightmare Trident drop for her. She immediately went to go try it out but the weapon does not glow like it should, its just a standard Nightmare skin.
We worked hard during that dungeon, she’d like something special like that skin to show for it.

I honestly cant think of an aspect of the game that is outright alt-friendly save the AP system.
what about the laurel system? you can buy ascended items with laurels
what about the karma system? exotic endgame gear with karma from Orr vendors
what about the dungeon token system? exotic endgame gearyou guys are complaining about the small bonuses from WvW-xp levels, fractals and the dye-system? O_o
What do you want guys? Gear being accountbound = not having to work for BIS-gear on a character? Seriously? I mean you already can play entirely on your Guardian and equip your Thief BIS by spending karma, laurels and coin. In which other game can you do this?
Thank you.
I hate having to troll the community to get responses that Anet can actually use.

Honestly, for the sheer amount of work (not play) that will be involved in crafting this stuff, they needed to be MUCH better. I get that they needed to be generic enough to cross races and all… and they look fine… they just need more.
Particle effects that change with dye colors.
Moving parts/animations on the armor.
Maybe different sound effects than regular armor when you move/jump around.
A cape.
Stuff like that is worth devoting the extreme grind required to get this stuff.
They look ok.
Frankly there’s no way any designer could design an armor set that looks good enough to be worth 6x the grind an Ascended weapon requires.
Cant read them.
By the time you get a few letters in the group has filled and you’ve lost your spot.
Spam join and hope for the best.
Dulfy wouldn’t be needed so much if the content wasn’t time gated. It’s the lack of ingame information on time gated achieves that’s the problem. Someday they are going to do this minimal information on time gated achieves and Dulfy won’t be there with a guide. And that’s going to be interesting.
Dulfy isn’t needed, but people who play to chase the carrot do and always will take the path of least resistance. Thats the reason these forums are filled with complaints every time a farm spot is nerfed, or content is made harder without increased rewards, or a moneymaking export is closed. People chasing the carrot don’t see the journey (which is what rpgs even mmos used to be about) on the other side of their blinders, all they see is that carrot dangling inches in front of their eyes and they just keep running until they can catch it (which they never will).
There is no journey when the destination disappears in two weeks.
Who said a journey requires a specific destination? The destination of many on this forum seems be be that carrot on the string dangling in front of them that they will never reach and definitely won’t disappear in 2 weeks as it will be replaced with the next carrot.
There’s nothing BUT the destination anymore. The journey is eliminated when it’s obscured by lack of in game information/any direction at all… and the temporary nature of the content places the onus on the player to get it done before it’s gone, “journey” be kitten ed.

Ancient Wood and Ori nodes usually spawn in different places after a patch… like the one we had today.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
Ascended weapons are no where NEAR the amount of money and time and life wasted going for a Legendary. You will spend more gold on a precursor than on your entire Ascended weapon.
I have everything I need for an Ascended weapon (barring the new ingredients) RIGHT NOW in my collection tab. Just playing whatever conent I want, no Mystic Forge RNG, no sitting duck in WvW for World Completion.
There’s no reason not to make an Ascended Weapon unless you’re days away from finishing your Legendary.
If you were close to getting monthlies and had them reset, I can understand being disappointed. But if you got them that fast, you’ll have no trouble getting them in the next 27 days, and it seems like a small price to pay for all the incredible content ANet delivers constantly.
See… the only reason I burned through the monthlies as fast as I did was so I could enjoy other content. The minute I saw the list of monthlies I thought “Sweet! I can knock these out real quick and be done with the daily one just in time for the update! Then I can bury my head in the SAB for a few weeks.”
As awesome as the invasions are… I was more than a little tired of them. But they let me get those monthlies done in no time. Had I known that I could have spent less than 5 minutes crafting out junk green dowels and gotten 10 extra laurels instead of saving that achievement for all the exotics I’d end up making leveling to 500… I’d have done that. Or at the very least done content more enjoyable over my holiday weekend.
That’s… really not bad at all. Especially since they drop in bunches.
I’m liable to get what I need for an Ascended weapon by accident just playing normally.
(except the Dark Matter… cant say I’ve ever salvaged an exotic)
I spent a couple days doing invasions specifically to get the monthly completed, had 3/4 this morning and just needed to do a daily to complete it… now I am back at 1/4. This is utterly ridiculous, I want my 2 days back!
Yeah, I did invasions last night despite being tired of them all instead of goofing around on an alt specifically to work on those parts of the monthly, and those are the parts that they cut out. If I had known this was going to happen I would have just played the alt, enjoyed myself quite a bit more, and wouldn’t have been unhappy today.
This. I didnt spend my game time in the Queensdale rotation because its fun. And I didnt do more invasions this weekend long after they’d lost their luster for fun either.
All I wanted to do was knock out the Monthly as fast as possible so I could concentrate on the awesome SAB and new content coming out today.
I dont care about rewards. You wasted my TIME Anet.
So tonight, I suddenly cannot log into the game. The launcher sits at Downloading 0Kb and will not advance past it to the login screen. It’s incredibly frustrating as I was playing it just fine last night with no issues.
I’ve filled out a ticket with Tech Support, but I figured a try a shot at the boards to see if anyone else had this problem and corrected it.
A few things…
Yes I’ve run it as an admin.
My firewall and antivirus software is turned off (at least for getting the game running)
My computer more than meets the minimum specs.
The only thing I’ve done was uninstall some old GeForce Experience files from my old graphics card (I had recently upgraded to a Radeon HD card) that I finally got around to removing.
Any ideas?
I’ve attached my GameAdvisor report… can anyone help?

Eh… its a limited time event where the achievement points now actually lead to real, tangible rewards. I dont feel right blocking it off for players that likely have bad ping or something.
That said, I did finish in first twice in a row once and at the third race, I was smacked with no less than 15 lightning bolts.
I laughed the entire time. Still finished 7th!
When a single champion event counts for 3 out of the 4 monthlies, of course the players will swarm the zone where a champion is going to pop once every minute or so… and naturally jerkwads are amoung them.
I’d just ignore them and enjoy the populated zone while it lasts. Because you KNOW the respawn timers on those events will be doubled/tripled in light of this.
Sorry I disagree entirely. I am voting for Kiel because cheaper waypoints are much more valuable than cheaper black lion keys. The chests rarely ever give you anything good and in my personal opinion are a waste of money.
Though I do find it interesting that about the time I’ll get 400 free gems as an Achievement award, Gnashblade promises to cut prices…
I have zero interest in Abbadon. A leftover relic of lore from a game GW2 tries to distance itself from at every opportunity. Besides, the rampant hype, nostalgia and overblown expectations will make it easily the most disappointing, if not hated Fractal in the Mists… unless its made so easy it can be added to the FOTM farm rotation.
Show me the Reactor. No one knows what happened there… and its not often you get to see the worlds fabric turn inside out.
This may mark the first time in history there has been backlash over a steady influx of new, free content. The internets has now officially complained about everything.
This is a backlash over the REMOVAL of new, free content that players enjoy. Get it right.
CoF part 1 is my answer. Doesn’t surprise you, does it? Getting some magic find food and running through it a couple times a day will get you a few gold, which is enough to support yourself. Should you find the need for more gold, use the dungeon tokens you received as a reward and buy exotic armor pieces with the tokens. From there, you can either: A. Salvage them for ectos/other mats or B. Mystic Forge that crap. I personally wouldn’t recommend mystic forging anything nowadays, but that’s just me being paranoid.
I do this, except the rares you can buy with tokens are a high enough level to salvage for ectos. One run will get you enough tokens for 3 rare pieces for up to 9 ectos if you’re lucky.
I’d also salvage some of the ectos into crystalline dust, and use that to forge your Molten Cores into Lodestones for a good markup.
It’d be REALLY awesome for a dev to swing by hear and say “Oh by the way, the armor and flames are dyeable.”
Because itd be awesome if I could make it blue to match my Foefire hammer.
You “require” a guardian on your team.
It’s easy to assume a player with that low amount of skill hasn’t been carried through it yet.
I just want Frizz’s lasers and walls to be different colors.
All that swirling mass of pink makes it hard to tell if I need to find a box or if its safe to keep walking.
Oh, and kitten the constant immunity the golems recieve when a wall passes them. kitten es all over an otherwise above average encounter and dungeon.
one question is all I need to ask:
was it fun?
Not especially.
I didnt get the same fun I get massacreing tons of enemies in scaled up events. Southsun enemies are too difficult to fight en masse like in other areas of the game, even Orr. So if I cant have fun catharsis in Southsun, maybe I can have a fun challenge…
Nope. I didnt get the same fun or satisfaction I get from completing the difficult content either. It’s not difficult for the right reasons. It’s a big, annoying Karka with juiced up stats. The egg mechanic isnt interesting enough to differentiate it from any other Champ or even Vet Karka that are a dime a dozen. But at least I get sweet loot for the trouble right?
Not even close. I didnt get the same fun for getting valuable or unique rewards for victory either. The only unique reward for this content is the “Settlers” stat weapons from the vendors, but those arent even tied to the Queen herself… just the camps. And those look like regular junky white weapons anyway.
The sole source of fun I found for this is the experience of playing with other people. But this is an MMO, and that box is checked for virtually every other (more fun) piece of content in the game.
Hahaha… I get more for chopping a tree in this game…. in a level 10 zone, then I get for soloing a level 80 Champion in this game….
This needs to be plasted on a wall where Anet holds their morning meetings. I cant +1 this enough.
I anxiously await this reward revamp I keep hearing about.
I can get a garunteed 3 Rares in about 15 minutes in CoF P1. Neverminding the random loot drops and money rewarded at the end.
THAT is the litmus test of rewards for every other piece of content in the game.
Even if the enemies were nerfed to oblivion, the rewards given for the effort and coordination required for this event is orders of magnitude too low compared to what a group of 5 scrubs can obtain in a third of the time.
That exchange rate will absolutely explode when that armor hits the market and people start cashing in their gold.
You’ll have to grind considerably more if you don’t have the gold already and get your gems now.
what if …
PvE monsters are able to dodge?
Some enemy NPC’s can.
Guess that guy never went to Southsun.
Or never fought a bat, griffon, harpy, ooze, Frog guy, or Inquest.
As long as I get more silver for selling them than I do for completing DE’s at level 80, I love the boxes too.
CoE until you puke. Then dump the bucket and keep going.
I did get a few from Orrian Jewelry Boxes from the Karma vendors in Orr. Three out of about 350 boxes.
And seriously grind the gold out in between. You simply wont get the amount of stones you need in a reasonable timeframe without buying most of them.
Reflection is awesome aint it?
My farms havent been nerfed at all. In fact last night was the best farming night I’ve had so far.
But then I dont farm Young Karka… that’s not even close to efficient when there’s skelk, sharks, and barracudas.
What? I just watched an episode of NCIS when I logged into the forums. I had upside head smacking on my brain.
It seems to me there’s been a lot of apologizing from Anet the past 5 months regarding the Living World content/concept. From too little content spread over much too long a time, to excellent quality content players enjoy being removed after two weeks, to flubbed patch notes, to developers not having enough time to create content at the same level due to the insane release schedule. Not to mention the bugs that seem to get through under this system.
I hope you guys at Anet figure out a way to make this whole Living Story work. It’s a neat idea and different and all… but I have to say it doesnt seem worth all the trouble so far. (At least from my perspective as a player. I’m sure from a profit perspective the LS exclusive items are doing right by y’all. )
Well I hope they were summarily smacked upside the head.
I’m glad ArenaNet listened to those of us who didn’t complete Flame & Frost due to the group dungeon.
Single player storylines should never require you to form a party to complete the content.
If you enjoy group dungeons, run the solo instance and unlock the 5 man.
I enjoy running content with my wife and friends and guildmates.
Single player storylines should never require you to make your friends sit it out while you play, just like they should never require them to play with you to go forward.
guess Anet can’t win, people complain when forced to make groups for living story stuff, then complain when you can do it by yourself now..
Anet can’t win because they make stupid design decisions.
Given its duration and mechanics, i get the feeling it was hashed together at the last moment as a response to the complaints about the group nature of the F&F finale.
Except it took more effort to make this single player only than it would have been to use the already coded Personal Story tech to allow party members in.
They took extra time to make this different (for the worse). It’s at best unneccesary and at worst a waste.
I like how the personal story content was designed to be done by one player, but you could bring along friends if you wanted.
But THIS content designed for a single player doesnt allow that.
I’ve no problem running challenging content like dungeons blind, but the minute I waste several weeks unlocking the priveledge to run this content, I kitten well better succeed. And I’ll use every resource to do that.
They already have. Both the Deaddrops and the Periscopes were left in game to for players to finish up due to the bugs. The bonfire was extended too.
Honestly, you should’ve just guested to another server to get them during the first window.
RNG boxes is the only way Anet know how to introduce new skins at the moment. Not sure how they could forget that there are other ways.
It’s very easy to forget when people are willing buy 180 boxes for them.
Tried. Didnt work.
Oh wait, my profession cant do that.
I miss…
Real character customization. There is no reason town clothes had to be designed in such a way to not allow them to be used in combat.
Worthwhile itmes in the cash shop. There’s room for lockboxes and genuine items.
An easy way to find groups for group content.
No pressure to finish all the new content RIGHT NOW before it gets pulled out from under me.
Faith in the development team.
They’ve been left in game until the 16th to make up for a period of time during F&F when they were unable to be completed.
Yeah, if you really think its all that super awesome and great, you’ll be one of the few still wearing it after the new shiny wears off for most of the playerbase. Give it a bit of time.
The reef riders are a pain due to the bouncing attack and their penchant for stealing boons. Reef drakes can pull and knockdown in a pool of poison. Veteran karka are a pain to fight (but can be done alone if you’re practiced). All the monsters are, in general, nasty and unpleasant.
However, the rewards are actually pretty well worth pursuing.
(Hint: Support the settlers by talking to their negotiators. Trust me.)
Good hint. Do it before Anet “fixes” it.
It’s always been that way. Skelks and Young Karka are the only enemies with reasonable HP in Southsun.
