Great! The Living Story could use some panache and aplomb.
Buy the rest of my charged lodestones.
Convert enough to gems to buy a few things off the market.
Spend the rest on every legendary I can get a hold of from the TP and give them all away to random folks in LA… under my personal new guild with the tag [RNG]
But Permanent SAB is not the answer, 30 days is plenty.
Would 30 days of WvW be plenty?
Would 30 days of Fractals be plenty?
What about the people who have no time to play this month? Those were designed with the word “permanence” in mind, SAB wasnt and if they wanted to make it permanent they would have to redesign a proper reward system, which I dont think they will soon. If anything and Arenanet agrees to make it permanent, they will take it off after the 30 days and bring it back again in a few months when they have more weapon skins ready, more zones and a redesigned reward system.
SAB was designed as a one off April Fool’s joke that wasnt going in the game period. Anet thought it was cool and expanded it to an entire instance. There’s no reason to believe they wont make it a permanent, fully fleshed out addition.
Quickness was nerfed for PvP reasons just as much as for PvE.
Kit Refinement… er I mean 100 nades was considered OP in PvP/WvW so Kit Refinement was changed.
Reflection has already had its nerf in WvW with it’s inability to reflect seige.
The next nerf will be to might stackers and boon heavy builds with the introduction of “Boon Hate.”
It’s actually 150.
Amazing. Loving every second of it.
Wish I could buy the weapon skins for gems so I can properly $how my appreciation.
Dude… those weapon skins were MADE for Asuran cultural armor.
Make the game within a game text-based.
OMG! This would be so freakin’ awesome!
You are likely to be eaten by a Grawl.
If nothing else, all the classes are balanced in SAB better than the real game.
OP makes me laugh.
A “fantasy” world full of grenades, missles, lasers, torpedoes, robots, machine guns, flamethrowers, power suits… but a technomagically advanced race using VR for education just ruins it all huh?
If you play for immersion, youre not very good at it.
While I can kind of agree that the resources spent on this couldve been better served elsewhere… considering how well it was done and how huge it’s gone over with the playerbase, I hardly think it was a waste of resources.
the highest goal to achiev in gw2 is a legendary…. if u r rich, u can reach the highest goal in 1 day….. i u r lucky, u get 50% of this goal just by looting the toilet or a dragon chest….
this is a horrible concept….
No you can’t.
You need tons of skill points, karma, badges of honor, 100% map completion and dungeon tokens.
All you need is gold.
Old AC was one of the dungeons where the rewards were close enough to be worth the time spent/challenge. IE the dungeon rewards are so low that its only worth the few minutes of speeding through easy content to bother with.
New AC is harder now… to different degrees based on your opinion… but it definitely isnt worth the time to run for the current dungeon rewards. Which sucks because I think they’re fun (when they work… suck it Grast) but I cant have fun in the new AC while grinding out the gold I need for the hammer skin I want.
And I truly am sick of CoF…
So after fighting both the champions at the end of Rox’s and Braham’s stories, I loved the Munitions Masters’ looks and attacks.
Then I thought… “How cool would it be for my ranger to shoot arrows that split when they hit targets like that?” and “Dude… If my engineer could throw grenades that bounce off the ground like that Dredge guy’s fireballs that’d be stupid fun!”
I mean it’s cool we’re getting their skins and all… but is there any chance the players can get ahold of some of this stuff through traits or skill updates?
Short? All told, its almost five times the content of the previous living story content pushes.
Legitimately new enemies, periscopes/audio logs, finding all the drop points, the two new characters and their missions… Anet’s problem is still pacing.
Anet did their content a disservice again throwing all this out at once. They started out WAAAAAY to slow and now just threw out tons of stuff that could have been spread out over the next few weeks to keep the content in the gamers minds and keep momentum to the next update. In my opinion they should have added one part of this each week until the finale. Periscopes show up in week one… then Whispers guys infiltrate and leave coded messages in week 2… then Rox and Braham show up with their missions in week 3 that lead into the next part one or two weeks later.
As it stands now its just like the other releases… burn through it in a day or two and forget about it for weeks until the next chapter.
Here’s hoping that thing grows into the biggest bad kitten Devourer in game.
Suck it Garm!
They could just add a few F&F NPC’s to Butcher’s Block saying they’re donating some of the Meatoberfest provisions to the refugee’s… and also keeping the party going to keep their spirits up for a bit.
Heh… as if anyone buys the bullkitten from posters who “lost fun” when their exploits get removed wholesale.
Yeah… dealing with “Norn problems as Norn” worked so well against Jormag didnt it?
Excuse me, what part of the “personal” storyline involves dealing with Jormag, which is exactly what Norn characters should have been doing.
More canned content. As done with flame and frost as I am with the Legend of Trahearne.
You complained why the Norn arent dealing with the Molten Alliance themselves. It’s not my fault your chosen race has a history of failure and hubris. At least one of them is smart enough to know they need help, even if your Norn isnt.
Take your dead horse complaints about personal story to the right forum.
Yeah… dealing with “Norn problems as Norn” worked so well against Jormag didnt it?
Having one region specific daily out of nine hardly amounts to “running everywhere.”
If only there was some kind of instanced content that gave decent rewards so overflows wouldnt be an issue.
Saw this coming a mile away. Here’s hoping the next time they buff loot drops in a meaningful way it actually sticks.
1. Personally, I want all rewards everywhere nerfed until CoE is the only way to get loot. Then I can get groups easily for it and get my Charged Lodestones. After that they can bring the rewards back and everyone can play whatever.
Seriously, its the time:reward ratio on CoF p1 that makes it so farmable. Yeah the fact its trained monkey easy helps, but when you’re running ANY other dungeon and you start thinking “I could have done CoF 3 or 4 times by now” and get (at best) the same rewards at the end… thats a problem. Rewards for the other dungeons need to be doubled, tripled, and quadrupled for the amount of time lost that should’ve been spent in CoF.
And since that wont happen…
2. Of course it’ll be nerfed. Which is kind of sad… CoF p1 is in a unique place as being a really, really, REALLY fast dungeon. There’s a community forming around that and comparing times and tactics. That’s pretty cool and I dont want to see that disappear. That was formed around the efficiency of this dungeon, and once that’s gone that facet will be too.
I’ve noticed I’m getting more 0 ecto salvages. But then I’ve salvaged almost 4x the number of rares now than I ever have before so its to be expected.
P1 is very short, even if you had a reason to kill all the trash. The bosses/events have boring, unremarkable mechanics that require no real thought to deal with. I think the Slaver summons effigy adds, but I dont remember actually seeing them or getting attacked by them. And the end Effigy does so little damage and the healing crystal mechanic is so weak that it becomes a snooze fest. It’s just a boring loot grind… everything in it can be solved by bringing more DPS to the table.
P3 is the opposite. Incredibly long and grueling for all the wrong reasons. Same boring mechanics, just amplified in difficulty and time. Nonstop waves of silver class enemies that reset your progress if you wipe. A trap hall that you better take your armor off for with its tiny window of opportunity to pass through and turrets at the end after youve burned all your dodges. A boring Drake sack of HP champion. An even MORE boring, even BIGGER sack of HP boss battle where he goes invulnerable every 15 – 20 seconds to cue up his telegraphed, easy to dodge attack. It’s ridiculous. No amount of teamwork or DPS can make this path anything but a long slog.
P2 is pretty ok IMO. Maggs and the end boss require at least some coordination and teamwork to get past while still being possible to brute force your way through… just not as easily as P1 is. I’ve been in P2 groups that just massacred the Magg event mobs and assassins wholesale and ones where someone needed to kite some of them around a bit while the assassins were picked off. I’ve had groups that coordinated on Vent to kill the shamans(?) in synch in the final room while the ghost was kited, and ones that could kill them so fast they just murdered them and attacked the stone almost with impunity.
P1 needs mechanics that cant be purely DPS’d through without consequence… or at least mechanics that reward teamwork and coordination. P3 needs… man… it just needs a LOT.
GW2LFG is visible to people in every map on every server. Your post remains visible until you find your group, so you can put up a request and then just play the game while waiting for responses. Since it’s cross-server, you can ask to be invited to a dungeon which is currently contested on your server, bypassing the usual delay and event chain.
This. I didnt use gw2lfg for a while simply because I didnt think there were enough people on my server interested in running the dungeons I was looking for… so I didnt see the point.
That’s one piece of info that doesnt get brought up when people spout “use lfg site hurr durr”… the fact that your dungeon parties arent limited to just your server population. Anyone on any server can join.
The fact that Anet designed dungeons to operate with the possibility of multi server parties but never gave us a way to actually take advantage of that design is one of the stupider mistakes they continue to make every day I have to minimize the game to find a group.
I like the concept behind the Razing. You’ve got the Dredge who are all about asserting their relevance after centuries of enslavement under the Dwarfs… and the Flame Legion who are desperate to reclaim their dominance after being decimated by the other Legions. Both bring powerful assets to the table the other lacks… Dredge bringing their technology and Flame Legion bringing their magic. Discovering whomever it was that was smart/charismatic enough to overcome their mutual xenophobia and get them to join forces is going to be interesting. Fighting them moreso.
When we get around to it…
Helping an endless stream of refugees by building signs and scouring the countryside for a glowy object for two months solid isnt the way to present this story. It’s ponderous and boring and vague and LIFELESS. This is one case where Anets monthly update schedule is a detriment to content by being too SLOW.

I suppose I could take it a step further and ask how I was supposed to know that there was a camp of refugees in LA… I think at some point we’ll get to the idea that there was a key yellow * that I should have looked for/talked to.
The mail that was sent to you by Logan/Rytlock/Eir/Caithe/Zojja when you logged in at the start of part 2 said as much.
. The consortium have stepped in and are acting rather sinister. I think the consortium business could split off into another storyline buiding up southsun cove some more.
Awha…? I think you may have just proved the OPs point to me. Not sure at all where you heard about the consortium…. I admit I’ve been kind of trained not to talk to the guys with * over their heads, as in the first update they provided no useful information…
The Consortium are setting up homes for the refugees on Southsun Cove. Either out of the goodness of their hearts, or because after Karkageddon no one else wants their real estate.
Get a stack of karma consumables and karma multipliers, and go roll it through orrian boxes in ft trinity. Starting out with 600k karma, after 16 rounds of rolling karma back into boxes I ended up with 18 lodestones, including 2 charged, as well as 7.7g, 66 shards, and 8 risen priest minis. 2.2 million karma used total. Add the ascended trinket karma boost, and it would have been even more. You can sell the lodestones you don’t need for profit, and use that to buy the lodestones you do need.
Something to do with karma, at least.
Get real. Over 2 million karma for what amounts to 4 or 5 charged lodestones if everything’s sold towards getting them.
I was going for Foefire’s Power… a nice looking NON-LEGENDARY weapon skin. I need 100 of the kittening things. I’ve done everything else necessary to get this skin, but frankly nothing is worth strangling the game’s enjoyment out just for a pretty skin.
And that’s what these lodestones (and precursors) are. Grinds that crush player’s enjoyment, at the cost of keeping them playing. Brilliant for a non sub game.
All I’m left with is a bunch of Orichalcum Hammer Heads and the disgust of having wasted so much time believing that there was something (not even top tier) I could get after thousands of hours and months of daily play.
Time and time again i go from mmo to mmo and I find that devs feel the need to change something that was working or people enjoy
Well, a lot of people complained about it beforehand, so criticize them and not ANet, they just did what these people called for.
Really? I literally know of no-one who ever complained about AC exploration needing to be change…
Many people said the bosses HP needed to be lowered and special attacks/more abilities should be added. People complained that trash was too easy and just tedious due to high HP – now the hp have been drastically lowered and the trash now have stronger abilites.
To be fair, that extends to every boss and silver mob in any dungeon ever. Hopefully they all get the same treatment (sans bugs).
The rock fall actually hits you a lot sooner than the graphic of the rocks actually falling shows. At least for me. You’re probably pushing the stance late.
I had to lead the graphic of the attack a lot on my guardian with my invuln elite skill that gives me some invuln (name escapes me) but it did work.
Don’t forget the loud people not always represent the majority. But don’t get me wrong, I welcome that they listen to the community. But this patch were over the edge in my opinion. I can live with things not being as before where you would get a rare ~half the time, but it certainly is some change from 50% chance for a rare to 100% + 50% for an additional rare, if not an exotic. I might have been lucky, but I’d guess around 1½ rare per boss at the moment. That’s a 200% increase in drops.
I’m not complaining how “good” it has become because I don’t feel that spending 5 minutes (for example Maw event) to earn 1½ rare isn’t good in my opinion. It is too much.
I STRONGLY disagree that the drop rate for Rares from anywhere ever approached 50%.
As to farming easy events like the Maw en masse… wait til that new event scaling feature their testing in the Orr events goes live everywhere and champion Grawl, Icebrood, Savnir get in the regular spawns.
The rewards are right where they should have been from the beginning.
I totally want a Guild Challenge or Fractal that has a Moa stampede.
It’s the next logical step after the Chicken Run Guild Rush.
I’ve only managed to run p3 so far… and while I liked most of the changes, almost all our parties frustration revovled around Grast.
1. You basically get one good shot at Rumblus when Grast is at full health. If he dies it is extremely frustrating to make another attempt. He runs full bore back at CR with half health ready or not… after the party has likely used a good bit of their defensive cooldowns to stay alive long enough to rez him.
2. Consistently Grast would NOT use his shield when CR would use his rock attack. I’d see CR wind up his attack and instead of shielding Grast would be using his sloooooooow wind up hammer attack. Then the whole party, including Grast, gets knocked down and wiped. This caused a vast majority of our failed attempts
You know what my guild routinely said after finishing every story/explorable mode after we’d done AC story?
“Still wasnt as bad as the Lovers.” (granted, this was pre-nerf)
Story modes just aren’t easier than explorables at all. For all the reward you get from Story mode, they ought to be soloable.
I really like the new fight, but Grast needs some help.

their intended function of spreading the playerbase out into various zones
You think this is the function of dailies?
OMG WOOHOO. THANK YOU ANET FOR FORCING ME TO GO TO THIS ZONE. JUST WHAT I’VE ALWAYS WANTED.
[/sarcasm]
I dont think. That’s what Anet explicity said the purpose of dailies was.
1. Press M
2. Find Ascalon
3. Select way point
4. Travel
5. Proceed to kill 40 somethings
6. Press M
7. Find Hoelbrak
8. Select way point
9. Travel
10. Proceed to kill 40 something
11 . Daily done!No matter how many choices you actually have, you’ll never be happy. There will always be something to kitten about.
Here’s a hint. If you know that dailies are easier done on the starting areas and are that cheap that you don’t want to travel from Orr with your main, park a alt in one of them. You get to level it a bit each day and complete the daily in the process.Great creative content (note some sarcasm)… force players to rush 40 kills in two zones and move on… bored me senseless. Total waste of time.
Dont waste your precious time on them then.
Oh, and if you’re spending time doing your daily to get your laurel, that’s investing time for the reward, not wasting.
Then don’t do the daily. No skin off my back.
You can’t be bothered for 10 minutes of your time, so don’t expect ANet to spend 1000s of man hours catering to your every whim at the expense of other players, princess.
If you’re going to make exaggerations, don’t expect anyone to take your post seriously.
If your going to make ridiculous demands of what is ultimately optional content, dont expect anyone, including ArenaNet, to take your posts seriously either.
Laurels = daily exclusive = exclusive gear
cool options bro.
Ridiculous demands? What I was requesting was already in place.
Demanding dailes go against their intended function of spreading the playerbase out into various zones is ridiculous.
Then don’t do the daily. No skin off my back.

Kill her again?
That’s always worked for me…. sorry man.
the problem is earning the merits for your own guild. you can earn them doing another guilds missions. On the bright side you can at least earn commendations for personal rewards doing any of the missions from any guild. So there is that.
I’ll believe that when it’s confirmed in game or by a developer… it’s only been implied so far by devs on the forums.
Most of the content isnt for 5man groups!!!!
Get this through your heads
Its the ONLY content for MULTIPLE GROUPS
Small guilds have access to ALL dungeons and LOTS of content while FINALLY we have content requiring LOTS OF PLAYERS
It’s not about completing the content, kitten, it’s about getting to it. Let the people stubborn enough to do 10-man content with 5 men actually run into the brick wall themselves. Don’t put a bed of glass between them and the wall.
Get that through YOUR head.
Then they’re stubborn enough to grind out the supposed insurmountable amount of influence to start it themselves.
They deliberately designed the game to scale to peoples group size and level because they advertised the game as giving everyone equal access to content regardless of their play style. The only limit was to be dungeons set at 5 people (at level – very doable by less above level & well geared).
Pray tell me why the same people shouldn’t be legit kitten that they are now being told they do not, in fact, have equal access to content? Why should we farm our kitten off to gain the same access as someone who does kitten all & reaps the benefits of their 400 person guild?
Why does my guild of 5 have to work 100 times harder than someone elses guild of 500 just to GAIN ACCESS to the same content? I’m not even talking about being able to complete it … just about being able to even kittening access it.
What kitten was Anet smoking when they thought this was a logical game design???
Get real. You have access to the content. All these guild missions are open world. You can do the content whenever any guild, of any size, triggers them.
10 people is a very good size for a Tier 1 bounty mission.
<facepalm> so no thought about the small 2-5 man guild? It seems that the better game content is now exclusively for huge Zerg Guilds. My guild currently has 3 active members and we will not have a chance to play this premium part of the game until after the servers are turned off. And no, we are not buying gems to pay for influence to get the good stuff. <facepalm, laugh, shakes head>
That’s not a guild. That’s a party. You’ve got plenty of content designed for you.
If ANet had created this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-guild-missions-opinions-concerns/first let’s say…. 1 or 2 months ago and not 4 days before the patch, they could have figured out that 30k and 50k point barriers just to unlock it is a horribly stupid idea, especially for small to medium sized guilds. But hey, that would’ve been communication. Not their forte.
So, we should welcome our new era of “Zerg Wars – Bugs and Patches”
No, we should NOT DO THE CONTENT.
Ignore it. Because what happens when people spend all their time working on “content” that nobody touches? If ANet has any sense, they get canned, or at least shifted off of content development.
If you don’t like it, don’t do it. If enough of us don’t do it, it becomes a problem for ANet, not for us.
Content like this has been requested since launch. Ignore it all you want, but there will be more than enough people running this.
