Time Marches On is such a crazy strong build changer.
Removing the need for Traveler runes opens up all the runes in the game to Mesmer builds.
One area where Mesmer has been typically balanced is with its susceptibility to condition damage, and its restrictions with run speed access.
But with this trait that can change quite a bit.
Mesmer will go from +25% speed and -40% condi with Traveler/food now.
To +25% speed -65% general condi and -90% cripple, immob and chill with Melandru/food and the new basic trait.
It’s a very, very big change for a Mesmer’s issue with damaging conditions and soft-cc.
New specialisation name: Lego Lass
All Guardian longbow users are turned into female models made from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene.
Not change the name of a traitline based on the whining of an incredibly small vocal minority.
Give everyone that created a whine thread the in-game title: Dragonhunter.
I like Dragonhunter.
I don’t like the sense of vocal minority entitlement on these forums.
How is it vocal minority entitlement? We were literally asked to provide feedback and to keep the feedback of the specialization name to this thread. If anything it is rather entitled to think that just because people disagree with you about the name (no matter how popular their opinion is or isn’t) they shouldn’t voice their opinions here. I don’t like the name but I am not going to call the people who do like it the ‘vocal minority’ or ‘entitled.’
The sense of entitlement that you think you can start a whine thread about the name of the Guardian specialisation.
What if someone wants to play a Guardian in GW2 but they want the class to be called a Paladin because it better fits their RPG stereotypes in the head, should they start whine threads about that?
What if they want the Guardian specialisation to use Pistol, Shortbow, Rifle or Sword-offhand instead, should they also create a whine thread with a biased poll that says what weapon do you want the Dragonhunter to have?
Why does the specialisation name even matter? Do you currently call yourself a Zeal Honor Virtues Guardian. Or will you actually just end up saying Bowguard anyway.
Thiefs have multiple teleports also on weapon skills, multiple evades also on weapon skills and multiple stealth abilities also on weapon skills.
You’re not meant to brawl a Guardian or Warrior as a Thief, play the way your class was meant to by abusing your mobility, evades and stealth to dictate the fight and reset at your whim.
If you get caught out and locked down in melee you got outplayed, you can’t win every fight.
(edited by Ezrael.6859)
Dragonhunter is fine, the whining entitlement from the small vocal minority here however isn’t.
Whatever name you attempt to pick within your cliques and biased strawpolls will be unfavourable to most people.
The majority of players don’t even read the forums, nevermind post.
I like Dragonhunter.
I don’t like the sense of vocal minority entitlement on these forums.
What the kitten.
These Longbow skills and traps better be exkitteningceptional.
Single VoJ procs are going to become a lot less useful with the burning changes.
The condition damage has dropped significantly. Making auto-attacks an even better option than currently.
I would pretty much only use Torch 5 to burn inside Shadow Refuge if I had no cleave weapon.
With all the changes going on, I wonder if we can get this skill looked at.
Torch 4 is a good skill already and it is going to get some interesting extra mechanics with the proposed trait.
Torch 5 however is pretty crap.
It’s dps is lower than any of the 1H auto-attacks, the multiple tiny hits are a Retaliation suicide magnet.
The condi cleansing utility doesn’t affect the caster and the 400 range cone is too limited to realistically use it in fast paced group play – the sort of time when that kind of utility is most vital.
Drake’s Breath (2.5-3.5k and 8s burning) for Elementalist dagger is slot 2 with 2.25s cast times a 5 second cooldown!
Compared to our (4-5k) 4.25s cast time 15s cooldown skill as a slot 5.
So what can we propose to change the skill?
kittens with half the current cast time, double the damage per hit.
Self condition cleansing while channeling, how many condis cleansed? 2?
Applying condis on clone death with a condi tank build that dropped clones like thundering vindaloo diarrhea was an utterly disgusting passive play super low-skill cheese build.
Good riddance to that sort of build leaving GW2, and especially leaving Mesmer which has traditionally been a skilled profession.
I also think the new system is pretty good.
If you are more restrictive, you force people to CHOOSE and this creates build diversity.
Dropping to 27 configurations per trait line from 418 is not creating diversity. It’s slaughtering it. Don’t pretend it’s anything else.
Now those 27 can all be good/fun/double-plus-positive/whatever, but “Diverse” they are not.
How many of those 418 combinations are actually good? Maybe 8?
How many different combinations are actually used in meta builds? Maybe 3 different possibilities per trait line for a build type?
Removing the chaff, combining traits and leaving only the good traits will produce more viable options while allowing a better balance to be maintained.
It’s like the change from beta to just before live where Adept, Master and Grandmaster were introduced, before that everyone ran 20/10/10/10/10 and took the most powerful trait for every line with the least points invested.
Did you cry in the same way when that happened and said that build diversity was dead?
If they had shipped like that it would have been disastrous, these changes better streamline the builds even more.
Progression and change is better, let go of your fax machine and learn to e-mail.
I seriously doubt we are going to see stacking conditions in PvP, it would utterly obliterate any semblance of balance.
Stacking conditions will most likely be a PvE mechanic unique to Legendary and World Boss mobs.
Arken is one of the few decent Guardians that streams, and if anything, it’s worth watching just to see his facial expressions during combat :P
Do it yourself. If you die, delete your character and start again.
The devs are never going to take the time to hardcode this for a feature 0.1% of the community would seriously entertain.
Reflect Rapid Fire using Hold the Line…
What are you on about? Why are you expecting Regeneration and Protection to reflect ranged attacks?
The +/-40% condi food is broken, people always go on about the +40% food, but the -40% food is just as bad, e.g – warrior with melandru runes, dogged march & -40% food gets -98% condi duration on soft CC, which is a complete joke against power builds that use soft CC to help land damage (necro for instance).
Which is exactly why this crap is not in PvP, it is a joke and does nothing but make the game worse.
How do you come to that conclusion? -40% doesn’t exist in PvP but neither does +40% so the effect is virtually the same.
People can stack +30% duration and trait with +33% or +50% specialties.
And Warrior still has -25% Melandru and -33% Dogged March.
The duration of condis isn’t as much of a problem as the vast range is, 12 conditions is too many and there’s no way to remove specific conditions, last in first out condi removal is a poor system and it’s easy to hide stacking conditions under soft conditions that are easily re-applied with auto-attacks.
Big damage power at tacks have clear animations and are easy to dodge, the same mechanics don’t apply to condis, huge damage or duration can come from auto-proud off attacks or horrible mechanics like Perplexity and Confusion.
Confusion is a joke that only makes the game worse.
Make it stack in intensity in PvE only against Legendary, Champion and World boss difficulty mobs.
Job done.
Guardian very lights, drains the die shrouded well.
You made a statement and presented it as a fact about the patch even when you didn’t have access to the client so didn’t know for sure.
You then insulted the poster about his reading skills.
Perhaps you’re so constantly aggressive and insulting over the Internet you don’t even realise your own behaviour and messages?
Maybe you could try being less insulting and stop acting like you’re the only person online that is correct.
Do the 5 stacks of stability count as multiple boon applications? Altruistic healing with 5 allies and 5 applications of stability with maybe 70 healing per boon.
25 * 70 = 1750 healing per syg shout. Nice little burst heal for AH guards in wvw at least.
2100 total. 5x Retaliation and 25x Stability
Lol. Just tested both FB and JI and it’ll teleport you towards your target no matter the distance if you can target it. Lol.
It’s not currently implemented in the US/EU version of the game. You should probably try to improve your reading skills.

The patch dropped literally less than an hour ago?
Ah, in that case I apologize. I don’t have access to my game client currently.
If you didn’t have access to the client then why did you make a statement of fact about the patch being live along with a nasty quip?
Are you a compulsive liar or just a constant contradiction?

Yep this has been happening to me for about a month too, I often find it happens in WvW cancelling mid cast.
Judges Intervention rubberbands me whenever my target is slightly below or above me like with a hill and often when there is the tiniest amount of landscape in the way, like a rock or tree branch.
Has done since 2012.
If Toss Elixer B on Engineers is 3 stacks, all the more reason why SYG will be 5-6. It’s the staple skill to bunker guardians in both PvP and WvW and not so much for Engineers. I don’t think they devs would be so reckless to just destroy the foundation of support guardians.
I think the stacks are roughly going to translate from how many seconds there were to how many stacks there will be. Balanced Stance is an 8 second stability, so that’s 8 stacks. Throw Elixer B is 4 seconds so 3 stacks is close, slightly toned down. I don’t think SYG will be any less than 4 stacks, with 5 being most likely.
2 stacks would be a slap in the face though, and certainly a nail in the coffin.
Staple shmaple. It’s AoE stab, so it will be much lower than single target stab. Expect 2-3 stacks.
Throw Elixir B is a secondary F option for the utility, not the main skill use.
Not comparable.
5 stacks on Stand Your Ground, any less would be daft.
2-3 stacks on traited Indomitable Courage.
That would be too much to change the skills for all weapons.
More like, if you choose to be in the specialization then 1 point in Virtues (Inspired Virtue) becomes the specialization for the new weapon. Virtues now only provide the passive effects for the Guardian. The active effect is the stance switching for the bow
Justice makes the bow skills offensive, Resolve makes them healing and Courage makes them controlling. Damage, healing and CC options.
Make it an instant hitting chain weapon like the Necro scepter.
Keep the 1200 range, just balance the damage and casting speed.
1- damage
2- damage
3- burning (1s).
Virtue Recharge rate bonus from traits isn’t calculating correctly.
At 20% reduction the figures are 25, 50 and 75 for the cooldowns.
They should be 24, 48 and 72.
Looks like keyboard turning, some really terrible character control in general, often facing the wrong direction and slow to turn and face enemies. Poor auto-attacking with direction facing, you would lack a lot of sustained damage if you were Power based and without AI.
Dodging pointless attacks, failing to dodge key attacks. Not lining up burst well with immobilise, poor Smite placement, poor use of the Torch not even maximising burning uptime.
In general you’re being completely carried by conditions and AI application of burning.
An average player in 1v1 scenarios against other average players representing the other professions.
And a disgusting attitude to top it all off, your attitude is unbecoming of your ability.
If pistols can’t be considered as magical weapons, please explain the Mesmer’s offhand pistol.
One skill summons an illusion that fires two magic pistols.
And the other fires a magic bullet.
Let’s see, managed 3 mins so far.
1. Purging Flames deals AoE burning, thanks for showing us that.
2. Kill a bad Condi Mesmer by spamming all your skills and then having nothing for the Engi that comes after and clearly killed you, great…
3. Killing an up-level Ele with a Necro to help you, spectacular!
4. Guardians can kill Necros that just run away then stand still and AFK, wow!
5. Killing a bad Longbow Ranger, then /laughing, wow such class…
6. Killing an Engineer while a Power Mesmer helps…
7. Tunnel vision the Engi and get utterly destroyed by a Thief, the other guy carried you completely. Oh and then popping Shield of Wrath against the Thief to… secure… the stomp…? Against which Thief CC abilities when downed?
I’ve made a slower version for you, let me know what you think and if you like it better, and I’ll replace the original too.
I felt I had to speed up the D/D Cele Ele fight so much because it’s such a long fight and people would get bored otherwise!
I could post an edited version with that fight slower or simply post that fight with the War and Ele alone at normal speed. (3 minutes 32s).

GW2 Hybrid Guardian: The PPT Strikes Back
The review continues.
You do interrupt Shelter in the first heal, your hp goes up after because of Selfless Daring and regen ticking, not the Shelter heal.
The fights are mostly outside friendly towers against 5ish players with a bunch of uplevels.
The first fight is horrible “2v10” it’s more like 2+Guards v1-2, the rest are standing up on the hill just using the siege while they watch their allies getting stomped.
Also the slow mo stomps…. Look at me stomp this guy with Stability while no one else is around me or doing damage to me, oh it’s so epic!
Three weeks of this, the first two weeks with Dragonbrand and now the next week with Sea of Sorrows is looking the same.
2 servers with rankings of low 1600s potentially matched against any 4 servers of high 1800s.
Your management of WvW has been poor and completely lacking your attention since it started, and you simply get worse and worse.
But congratulations on writing the guide on how to not do realm vs realm MMOs for the future.
Whose night time?
There are 24 time-zones, not just yours.
You stupid, short-sighted, poorly educated, selfish American.
HoD, DR and SBI are all bandwagon servers that have previously had huge influxes of players and used to consistently run guild groups and PuG zergs of 50+ both before and during the recent tournaments.
Where did all your zerglings go?
Hopped again?
ArenaNet – testing customer’s limits for terrible RNG carrot-on-stick mechanics and limited forced purchase options since 2012.
ArenaNet the gas station – Gas now available in 50, 100 or 150 liter options to streamline our services! If you car has a different sized tank, we also offer jerrycans to carry the excess fuel you have purchased for $49.99! *please not these are one use only.
Can it please function like a Meditation and cast instantly, thus giving us 2 seconds of Invulnerability where we can still use skills.
It’s still very lackluster as an Elite even with the changes just as a 2 second channel to reset our stale profession mechanic and not take additional hits but you still die from existing conditions and if you get hit by someone that’s stealthed they don’t get revealed.
If we had 2s of Invulnerability when we can also use skills this would open up so many options for both offensive and defensive uses and actually provide some functionality like other professions’ Elite skills.
I hope Zealous Blade is improved.
The healing is too weak and the damage increase is negligible.
It should be raised to a base of 50 and apply to all weapons.
Remove the 5% dmg for GS.
Condition tank.
The ridiculous state of PvP in GW2, so forgiving and easy to play, just spam clones to apply conditions automatically or when they die. No skill required, maximum reward for minimum risk – this is what the condition meta for GW2 has become.
Permanent Torment just from Scepter auto-attack. As if Mesmer needed more condition application.
As if this game needed to be pushed even further into the condi meta.
Why don’t you just give up on the vision already and just give the Guardian a load of conditions as well, sod the lore and let all 8 professions run condition builds, seems that’s all GW2 is destined for.
Its not a bug.
The game was calculating where your buddy was going to be, but he ruse’d you, causing the leap to go awry.
My ‘buddy’ is an NPC… the game knows exactly where he’s going to be at all times.
The NPC was not about to use any rush or movement skill of their own, this bug happens all the time against both players and NPCs in different situations, when an enemy is moving towards, away or even standing still.
It’s a bug that’s been around since 2012 due to poor coding, it used to be a lot worse and they tried to patch it over a year ago, but the bug has remained, just at a lower rate.
This bug has been around since the game released and it’s never been fixed.
Leap of Faith takes you in the opposite direction to your target, it happens several times a day to me when I play WvW or sPvP.
Let’s do the math shall we?
Right now to transfer to a very high pop it costs 225g per person
Let’s say a server has “purchased” 10 guilds
Now let’s say that on average those guilds can each produce a 40 man zerg.
For argument’s sake lets say ONLY those HIGHLY dedicated zergers of that blob got moved and not the whole guild.
That equates to 400 people bought in 3 weeks at 225g per person.
That is NINETY THOUSAND gold spent…
Yes you read that right… 90,000 gold…
Now lets say at the current exchange rate it takes 20 gems to make ONE gold…
That translates to 1.8 MILLION gems…
to buy that much then exchange to gold to send to those guilds would mean you would need 643 of the $35 gem bundles to obtain the amount of gold you would need…
THAT translates to $22,505 US dollars…
Sorry… I just have issues believing the transfer costs were all obtained through Anet… just sayin…
You’ve utterly confused yourself and come up with some hilarious maths.
Look at the calculation you have made to achieve your $22k figure.
You’re saying that they bought gems, to exchange for gold to then exchange again back into gems to do the transfer. (That’s the 225g figure, 225g for 1800 gems).
What?
Why would someone buy gems, to change into gold to change back into gems.
They would just get 1800 gems per person.
If any gems have been bought in-game by guilds it will be with vast guilds funds of gold. Not through your laughable gems -> gold -> gems conversion.
ummmm because you can’t gift gems…
Because buying a gift card and telling someone the code is so difficult.
The WvW team is actually one guy who usually works on the gem store, but occasionally during his free time he messes around with adding stuff to WvW.
1 year of development, a single siege mastery, 3 woooah colours for the commander tag and a 1200 range grenade that disables siege in a 450 radius. Haha.
