Warriors offer no to little support to the group. a Guardian can play Tank, Damage and Support.

I have to disagree. I play a support Warrior in WvW and feel very useful between traited banners, my warhorn traited to turn conditions into boons, and being able to soak a lot of damage while I help downed players.

I’d like to hear your view on the Warrior in WvW by asking a simple question: what have Warriors done for you?

Can you think of scenarios where you’ve been playing WvW and appreciated another player rolling as a Warrior?

Do you have any harrowing stories to debunk the idea that Warriors are a bad WvW profession?

Please, share your stories if you have them!

I like the idea of being a ‘combat medic’ in WvW. It feels awesome to bring someone back up in the midst of combat! However, these traits seem pretty superfluous when you have even one other person helping you revive someone.

Determined Revival is pretty good (+400 toughness at 80)
Fast Healer is cool, but not very noticeable with multiple revivers (I’d like to experiment with this trait & +10% revival speed from runes of Mercy & Frenzy to see just how fast I could revive someone)
Reviver’s Might is awful. If you revive someone, they’re most likely going to turn around and exit combat to heal up- they’re likely not going to benefit from the measly stack of Might.

I only notice a few seconds of downtime as well when traited, but I’m always holding my banner (those dolyaks won’t run themselves!).

If your enemy’s HP is also less than 1/2 this might be alright. I could see hitting 25%, Endure Pain, and trying to Burst them down. Other than that I don’t see much viability.
That said, try to make it work. I’d love to see more builds working for people.

100 Gold is pretty steep, but I don’t know what a good alternative that keeps oodles of players from getting the title easily would be.
I’d like to see a junior version of the Commander title with squad functionality but where the “commander icon” is only visible to people in the squad. There are some good leaders out there who don’t have Commander icons, but it’s hard to focus people without the blue triangle.

Oh, duh! Guess I wasn’t thinking clearly. You’d think there’d be an indicator of some kind.

I was using Warhorn for Swiftness, Banner traited to give Regen, and Balanced Stance for Stability, checking my Hero panel window for changes to my stats. With the boons from For Great Justice my stats got buffed, but not with the others I listed.

I haven’t noticed.

I was fooling around in Lion’s Arch tonight after some WvW and I found that the boons Regeneration, Swiftness, and Stability don’t seem to grant any damage increase from the trait Empowered.

Can anyone else confirm/deny/explain?

TBH all this talk of fair fights and kittening. Why not just get into tpvp?

Fairness in combat is a romantic concept and one that I fully support. There’s nothing more exciting than a close fight- even when you lose.

I remember poking around in the enemy’s BL once when I was ambushed by a lone Engineer with the flamethrower kit. I managed to put up a good fight with my shield spec, but he was relentless. Eventually I succumbed to the flames, but I had no regrets about our five minute duel.

This will always be more fun to me than large group combat (not to say that can’t be fun too).

In WvW I always go with Banners. A lot of times it’ll serve as a rallying point when the group spreads itself too thin and it ticks pretty well when I’m wearing Cleric’s. The Blast Finisher combos can also be pretty good.

I disagree. I think the zerg would roll over them.
Unless it was a warrior zerg-line that quickly broke ranks and happened to be a bigger zerg.

I feel like this has happened to me in the past, but never really tested it.

Are you saying OP shouldn’t be looking for good fights in WvW? WvW offers a totally different battlefield than sPvP that definitely caters to a different crowd.

I haven’t noticed the Hammer knockdown failing. It always seems to work for me.
I usually use in in WvW when someone tries to finish me off. Sadly, if they try to finish me right away, I have to pop the hammer throw right away, and I try to use Vengeance only to be stomped a split second before Vengeance’s casting completes!

Try toughness..

We should be able to assign auto-attack (auto-use?) to more than one item on the skill bar.

For example, as a Warrior using the decreased Shout recharge trait I can repeatedly use For Great Justice to keep might up constantly, but I have to keep checking the skill bar to see if it’s off of Cool Down yet. Why not let us set more things to automatically trigger?

Yeah, I totally get that. What I don’t get is why they picked Snow Leopard in particular to be the 30 point skill over the other animal forms.

The fact that Snow Leopard has Stealth is what bumped it up to 30pts. It has the advantage of making the Snow Leopard form actually useful. Highly situational mind you, but useful.

Exactly right, what I was trying to say was that I don’t understand why Snow Leopard was picked to be the useful Norn elite skill. I’d much rather use Bear Form, but I have a hard time justifying it. Why did the Devs pick that one to be better than the other three?

I like the first two Minor Traits and feel them when I play in WvW. The 25 seems bad to me unless you’re with a team that keeps Might stacking anyway. 1 stack Might for 12 seconds just isn’t something I desire. Shouldn’t it be Aegis or Protection or something? Most people I rez get up and run away from the fight, not back into it.

I love the moments you can actually knock someone off of a cliff or ledge, and it rarely happens for me in PvE or WvW, so sPvP is juuust right!

I came up against a Mesmer in WvW last night. He was fighting well, but soon allies joined me and he tranformed into Snow Leopard. At first I didn’t know what had happened because I hadn’t seen that form, but he caused a little havoc and managed to escape us, despite my best bearform efforts! Well played.

I’d also like a peek into what they’re doing about culling/why it’s an issue/etc.

If you’re going to be reviving downed players I suggest considering the Banner of Tactics. You can throw it down next to the corpse you’re looking to revive for a bit of a boost to your healing.
Looks pretty good. Being able to remove conditions via shouts will be great since you can shout while rez’ing.
You may also want to consider a Shield offhand to negate the damage you’ll feel running into the fray.

Also, runeblade is totally correct.

It’s frustrating that a Thief can Finish a downed player while Stealthed. Why do I even have downed attacks if I can’t see the guy killing me?

I think it would be interesting to see how it affected WvW participation.

Interesting ideas. I primarily play WvW and find stances to be pretty useless in big fights.

The way of the Warrior is wrought with peril and danger, but it’s a kitten way.

I’m sad to hear that the act of playing the game isn’t fun for them. That seems to be a common problem.
