A bit off topic, but I’d just like to jump in and point out thakitten ’s awful to taunt a downed enemy. Poor show.
No offense but whats the point of linking some wvw stuff? That’s another step down in terms of skill compared to hot join spvp.
I don’t think this discussion is focusing on a particular aspect of the game, so why not? And to say it takes less skill is false because you can’t directly compare between sPvP and WvW. They’re two different game types that require different play styles.
I got glitched into/through walls so much during the part where you clear the room of those annoying things that knock you down…
I can’t know why you said that, so I’m left to assume. I assume you feel that WvW is poorly balanced due to the fact that the skills aren’t separate from PvE like the sPvP skills are. If that is how you feel, I’m inclined to agree that this should be addressed.
If you feel otherwise, please elaborate.
Sorry kick only affects 1 target, and my rifle 5 does a better job, its instant and hits 3 (maybe5) targets on a lower CD and does way more damage. Why waste it on a 100% worthless utility.
I just tested and kick definitely still hits at least 3 targets.
Shinki, than you for the awesome post.
As for my two cents: tired of getting knocked off of things in Fractals? The Warrior has excellent access to skills that will prevent this! Balanced Stance, Dolyak Signet, Shield Stance, and Rampage. Freeing that Titan becomes a walk in the park.
Snow Leopard form is the best elite in WvW.
I’ve been accused of teleport-hack by some people that had no clue how a norn guardian could disappear and show up so far away one second later.
As a Norn I just can’t get behind this. It’s good at running away. This, a worthwhile elite skill does not make.
Deamhan makes a good point about when we’re using these elites. Instinctively when I got my first transform skill I thought of it as a ‘just in case’ button. I quickly learned that if I wanted it to be useful at all I would have to use it in the beginning of the fight. If I didn’t I’d just transform and die.
It should be a blow out
I would use kick all day defending keeps in WvW if it had blowout. Knocking some poor saps off the wall would be awesome. As it is I use kick as an interrupt on a fairly short CD.
I too would like to see more pull utilities.
Haha, yes! That’s great.
Has anyone felt like the Banner buff changed anything? Do you feel like the buff increase was significant? It seems to me that it hasn’t really made anything different.
I was really excited when I saw Norn under the Racial Skills section in the patch notes.
…
And then I was disappointed.
The grandmaster of tactics has just received a serious boost in this patch
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean by this. Could you explain?
I just want to point out that using the Banner as a primary weapon underwater is super powerful.
More underwater content IMO.
Also, how do our ‘static pets’ compare with the Engineers’ turrets?
The only thing I don’t like about kick is that I’ve never been able to actually kick someone off of a ledge. What I wouldn’t give to be kicking people off of the keep walls in WvW!
Kick has its place as a dedicated interrupt that can hit multiple enemies.
Haha, don’t worry Randulf. I asked literally this same question like a month ago!
…could they make it more useful in pve-dungeon while not making them all over the top Over powered in pvp-wvw?
I feel this disparity is the cause for a large amount of grief in GW2. Each part of the game needs to be balanced in its own way.
They’re going to buff Kick.
Does this mean I can actually Kick enemies off of ledges at long last instead of them being halted by invisible barriers?
Healing Signet for the passive healing while rezzing downed allies in WvW and eating tons of AoE.
Eles run regen, which is a lower tier and sadly it will override your banner regen rendering it useless. Also guardians run regen, which again, will override your banner regen.
It would stack only if its same tier, I dont know many classes with same tier regen as wars.
I’m sorry but I’m not familiar with these ‘tiers’ of regen. It sounds like you’re saying other Professions’ regen will cancel out our own? Where are you getting this information?
An example from the Official Wiki:
“10 seconds of regeneration are applied to a target from a level 80 player with 1500 Healing Power. 5 seconds later, 10 seconds of regeneration are applied to a target from a level 80 player with 2000 Healing Power. The player will experience 317.5 health per second for the first 5 seconds, then 380 health per second for the next 10 seconds, then 317.5 health per second for the next 5 seconds.”
It sounds like whoever’s outgoing Regen is more powerful gets priority, but duration still stacks overall.
It’s possible for a group to effectively use multiple banners, but I’ve never really witnessed it. In my personal experience if I throw down more than one banner at a time it means that when the group moves one of those banners is being left behind. (WvW, random groupings)
Wreckdum, you’ve said exactly what I feel.
Loot bags/reviving players/picking stuff up/harvesting are all of the F key- dumb.
Having to stop before I pick up my banner so I don’t run off of a cliff- also dumb.
Tempting, isn’t that?
there are grenades nearby to pick up, so… :p
One! … Two! … Five!
I’d be more inclined to take warhorn condition->boons if it worked for the whole party, but I’m fairly certain it doesn’t.
In my experience it effects allies within range. Could be <5 though, I haven’t really tested it.
I love playing a support oriented Warrior.
My suggestion: try the Quick Breathing trait with the Warhorn. I’m hooked and people love it!
Does banner work like that? Because ever other ability only heals 5 people max.
The assumption is that all 4 Banners are being used at once to heal 20 people I believe.
Sorry, I’m not familiar with this. What does the /rank command show?
I was looking at the WvW ratings when I noticed something neat.
Anvil Rock has the lowest Deviation and Volitility of all the servers in North America
SOLID AS A ROCK!
This is a silly request.
I don’t think the Ambient Killer daily should be removed or changed in any way (unless that’s to include WvW players).
The idea that rewarding players for killing small animals makes as much sense as rewarding players for drinking alcohol (there’s an achievement for so many drinks).
It’s just a game.
Rated T for Teen.
Sounds cool to me. But then, I really only play one character.
Looking forward to face-blocking catapult shots XD
If you went to the trouble to make charts and graphs you ought to share them.
This has happened to me. Rarely is it a good thing. People just randomly run off with it and I’ll find it abandoned somewhere.
Wear Banner would be amazing!
The sword’s leap skill never ceases to impress me with its large distance and low cooldown. Helpful if you see someone with low HP and need to get to them quick.
Tactics tree is great. If you’re going sword mainhand and have a secondary weapon set with a cripple you should definitely try Leg Specialist.
If you want to use the sword because it looks cool- don’t compromise! Make it work for you!
I have a strong desire for 1v1 duels.
Love the flavor of this. The only problem with it is that you’d melt.
Last Stand
I’ve never used this. Partly because I like Balanced Stance on my utility bar, but also because I hear it only activates AFTER you’re bowled over…
I was playing in near the Kodan iceberg ship today and was doing some underwater combat.
It seems to me that the Stab with banners is a lot faster underwater than on land. It felt pretty crazy when I was critting for around 1k every half second.
Has anyone else noticed this speed difference?
I think you should be able to hide any part of your armor.
It does seem short, but I don’t know that it needs to be changed. I view Battle Standard as an “oh kitten!” kind of Elite that is saved for a special occasion (reviving downed players, throwing it in a chokepoint to buff your allies). In the way that I use it I don’t feel too burned by the lower duration, but considering the CD it could probably be increased a bit.
I find it quite useful in WvW. I like to use Quick Breathing with the main hand sword’s mobility to jump around the battlefield cleansing allies.
This seemed interesting so I did a little looking around the GW2 wiki.
From my understanding you cold have a passive regen of 538 HP per second (assuming 0 Healing Power) if you:
-ate a Mango Pie
-have the Adrenal Health trait
-have Healing Signet on
-have the Regeneration boon
Regen is great, but not in every situation. I liked Healing Signet a lot when I was rolling Combat Medic in WvW for the passive heals while reviving people, but nowadays I prefer the large heal and full adrenaline recovery of Healing Surge (especially with those adrenaline traits).
Why isn’t any of my armor shiny? What happened to this:

I’d like to see this trait increase the Banner attacks’ damage.
Haha, good stuff!
The second one is a bad idea. Cooldown is 120 sec on 3 slots and 240 for the elite banner.
They don’t do much damage, don’t have auto attack. You can reduce cooldown by 20% if traited.
I just wanted to point out that you can enable auto-attack with the Banner, it just doesn’t have a Chain like primary weapons do. As for damage, I find they hit decently high. Someone was talking about critting for almost 5k with the #4 skill and dmg/crit gear. (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/the-banner-buff/first#post1326188)
That said, if you want to be a Banner Warrior I suggest only using one utility slot for a Banner for two reasons: first, when you get the banner cooldown trait you can keep one banner up almost permanently. Second, having banners taking up a few of your utility skills will narrow your options to an extent where I find their passive benefits aren’t worth the tradeoff.
To make the most out of Banners I’d also suggest using the Bow as a secondary weapon set so you can create a Fire Field to Combo in.
I didn’t notice a damage difference. They do totally pack some punch though.
Worthless. Geomancy is better by a long shot.
I don’t think there are any runes of Geomancy, just Sigils.
As for Runes of Earth, I think they’d only really be good if you played with someone giving you the Protection boon. Otherwise the 25% chance to gain Protection for 4 seconds (cooldown every 30 seconds) just seems lackluster.

I’d love to see Banners get Burst skills. Angriff’s ideas sound pretty cool, but may be too powerful.

Main hand Sword is wonderful in WvW. I’ll take the leap over the Axe’s vulnerability any day.
Personally I have a huge problem with this. I rely on being able to hit enemy after enemy when rushing clusters in WvW. I run dual axes and a longbow, and though the longbow is unquestionable a utility the 3 skill acts as a great wall nuke. If they nerf AoE what am I going to do then?
If they nerf AoE without and regard to game balance, you’ll have a problem.
If they change AoE to improve the game, as various dev posts intelligently illustrate they intend to do, you’ll be fine.
