Grifflyman, I’m inclined to agree. Restricting it to blind is just too situational.
1v2s are never easy, warrior or otherwise.
I’d probably go with condition duration and vitality, stay alive and keep the pressure on.
Why was this rune name changed to rune of the Privateer? It’s really lame.
It doesn’t quite fill the void left by Turtle’s Defense.
“Removes 1 stack of blindness when you swap weapons.”
This seems… lackluster for a Grandmaster Trait.
The fact that two of our new traits rely on being hit with particular conditions is unwelcome to me. Weren’t we already brought up to snuff on dealing with conditions?
Is anybody liking this trait?
Does this thing have an internal cooldown?
I’ve long thought Banners would be a great place for Combo fields, perhaps as an F1 ability, or on the Plant as bobomb has suggested.
I’ve never found myself wanting for the ability to create my own fields other than when I’ve run support banners with a bunch of blast finishers and no one had a water field.
Honestly my build would be half as effective without Wolf Form there as backup.
Sounds pretty neat, got a link for it we could check out?
Because they want to make the warrior a regen based class
Oh, yeah, I hear Anet talk about how they want me to play warrior all the time. “Hey guys, use regen, it’s how we want you to play the Warrior. If anyone doesn’t use HS, let them know they’re playing Warrior wrong. Because there’s only one way to play a profession. K thx bye.”
Get that crap outta here.
On topic, what builds are these Warrior duos running? Let’s narrow the problem down instead of using such broad terms.
A heal that cannot be rupted has no place in competitive PvP, thats just a fact .
Why is interruptibility so important?
The real problem is that people say ‘profession’ when they really mean ‘build’. No profession is just completely broken, that’s just as stupid as it sounds.
Balance isn’t there and it never will be, a problem rooted in the game’s design. Spec A beats spec B. You can specialize your character in such a way that it pretty much dominates another spec, but gets eaten by others. Too much character skill, not enough player skill. Active dodge shouldn’t be the lynchpin of ‘defense’.
strange thing is you can’t use racial elites in spvp/tpvp, so why worry about their usefulness? It’s not like your team can win because someone brought an asuran and they bunkered a point in a golem suit (which btw lowers your survivability drastically), its mostly for pve uses where you can goof off.
You forgot WvW. It’s okay, so does Anet :P
Funny, because it seems to me that when I use bear form (as a guardian) I actually deal more damage quicker. Consistently.
Well, Bear form does increase your Power by like 2700, so it would make sense that you hit harder. The rub is that it’s up for 30 seconds every 240 seconds. It’s good, but not useful compared to the profession elites. It’s just sad that Anet didn’t want to make racial choice matter beyond the personal story. Of course Asura tend to be popular in PvP due to their small size and more “difficult to read” animations.
Hello Chaba,
One would assume the same thing for Anet, one of the most influential MMO
Yeah. I do assume that.

This was a living world update.
Dunno, i ain’t a kittenrider.
Hammer/Rifle with Leg Specialist and Opportunist is what I like to run in zergs/sieges. With Bolas you’ve got three Immob’s available to you. Hammer #3, they stunbreak, swap rifle #2, maybe they stunbreak again, bolas, they’re eaten alive. No one gets in, no one gets out. Also, crack shot is great on bridges.
Do you find this surprising?
Some people have no class.
Best used near cliff:
-Kite enemy towards cliff
-Dodge roll through enemy
-Fear Me!
Oh, I see, you mean actual combo field stuff!
I found this table full of them: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Table_of_warrior_combo_skills
1-5. More Red Coat Rifelmen.
I agree with Keiel.
As for dropping 10 in Arms for 10 more in Def, you’d have to elaborate more. Without you telling us traits or gear, you’d lose Precision and Condition Damage, and you’d gain Toughness and Healing Power. I’m guessing you’ll be glad to drop whatever Arms trait you have for Cleansing Ire, unless you’re using a rifle.
The use of jumping to un-telegraph your skill use, interesting. I hadn’t thought of that before.
Play the way you enjoy!
So this has been around for a while now. How does everyone feel about it?
I was using it in some zerg v zerg fights today and combined with Endure Pain it gave me a lot of courage to push into the enemy and not die, it was really fun to use.
Great battles at AR Hills tonight! I really wasn’t expecting to play for 3 hours straight tonight XD
This has only been an issue to for me when I’m outnumbered, in which case the game design doesn’t support my situation.
WvW is a place for min-maxing. Enemy using food buffs to get crazy condition duration? Use food buff yourself for whatever shenanigans you have and hope they beat your opponents’.
I haven’t been immob-locked yet, but I imagine it’s similarly annoying in the way stun-lock is.
Have turtles defense or have the class be actually viable in pvp? Take your pick
If a single trait really could make or break an entire profession we’d really be in trouble, wouldn’t we?
In general I feel that GW2 definitely rewards offense more than defense, and definitely designs around that in regards to the Defiant buff.
RIP Turtle’s Defense!
“Troll” is the new “Effective” I guess…
Build looks fun, but why ascended everything for gear? You think I can go buy that crap?
Oh man, that is superb! My favorite part was when they dipped into historical weapon discussion XD
For mesmers, try crying. I’ve had moderate success with that.
As for eviscerate, that sounds impossibly low. Are you using a really low level weapon? The big numbers come when you spec for critical damage.
Why are you only making stats based on less than half the servers?
I’m pretty sure he took the first place and last place servers for each tier and mentioned that servers in between were much more competitive.
Interesting find. Winners gonna win and losers gonna lose?
It sounds like a lot of technical work to introduce player penalties to lords. On my server I’ve never seen war banner used to rez a lord 26 times. Once yes, maybe twice.
I’d like lfg to work in WvW. The living world subset lists WvW yet it doesn’t work.
You can do better than that
i know secrets but i won’t tell you
Cool! I wish I knew your secrets. Thanks for not sharing!
Dodge troll build looks super fun
-Being stun-locked blows. Don’t fuel the fire by making a stun-lock build
-They translate even more brutally into WvW.
-Hammer damage decreases:
Earthshaker: Reduced the damage by 20%.
Staggering Blow: Reduced the damage by 23%.
I see a lot of people suggesting this be instant cast. Are you seriously getting interrupted while casting this? I haven’t been.
Good to see someone using the rifle!
My suggestions:
-You’ll already be getting plenty of fury between Signet of Rage and Opportunist, so I feel that taking Heightened Focus isn’t necessary. You could drop 10 there and go 10 in Defense for Sure Footed since you’re running all stances.
-If you swap to Axe/Shield it means you’ll have another cripple=immob skill, a stun, and a block (using shield would also be a good reason to go 10 into Defense for either of the shield traits). This would also give you 1 more sigil to use on your gear.
-You’re using two of the same type of sigils. This use is redundant and doesn’t benefit you. Check out the wiki (look under Mechanics, Sigils With Cooldowns http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil#cooldown) to get a better idea of how to set up your sigils.
I hope you give this build a try in WvW some time! Two weapon sets with cripple=immob along with Throw Bolas is a really great denial system.
Give it a shot. If you get to 500 all the ascended crafting material might actually be useful to you instead of garbage you have to destroy.
I assume this is a pve build since that’s what’s selected in the build calculator.
Between those 2 healing skills I’d suggest surge since you said you like bursting a lot. That said, I see you’re also using sharpened axes, so maybe you wouldn’t want for the adrenaline gain.
20 points for one trait is rather expensive as well, I used to run it with warhorn cleanse, the two together was a bargain at 20 points, but 20 for just empower is too much.
My thoughts exactly.
Yeah, I use it and Axe Mainhand to prevent players from slipping into keeps with the Cripple = Immob trait and Throw Bolas. This lets me take Crack Shot AND Opportunist so I don’t have to worry about using a utility slot for Fury uptime.
I’m thinking about trying this with the new stance heal.
More launch.
/15char
Yeah, I’m 30 deep in Strength. That +15% damage on top of 300 power is slick, especially with the 25 in Arms. I throw on Physical Training to lower Throw Bolas cooldown to aid my immob tricks with the Cripple=Immob trait. The adept I swap between Death From Above, Great Fortitude, and Dual Wielding.
Agreed, having a skin to show off in other parts of the game that tells people you stuck it out in Season 1 WvW would’ve been really cool. We don’t really have many ways to show off.
Zantmar, good point about ranger’s version. We have the mobility for a slight chase AND I confirmed that you still deal damage while dodging using this skill today.
Damage increase makes the most sense to me. I believe it is the single least damaging channeled attack the Warrior has, other than perhaps Flurry.
Perhaps the rationale behind Whirling Axe being lower damage is the fact that you can move and potentially hit 5 people at once with it without traiting? However when fighting players this simply won’t happen (other than zerg surfing I suppose).
It seems to me this will be similar to Vengeance in that once the enemy sees you pop the skill, they’ll just kite you til it’s over and continue to kill you, making your 2k heal irrelevant.
Ashes, even then it’s only 3 seconds of heal/invuln. Once that’s up, you’re at full HP again and then you get murdered. The only difference between using this stance and Endure Pain is that you’re negating condition damage as well. So I guess this stance is kind of like rolling Berserker Stance and Endure Pain into one skill with a shorter CD? Doesn’t feel like it’s bringing much to the table.
