Things I would like to see in GW2

Sounds to me like you want Guild Wars 2.0. My apologies but that is not this game, and it won’t be., nor should it be. There are a good portion of us that like the game as is, and detested Guild Wars for what it was. It was meant to be a completely different game, it just shares the same lore.

What ever happened to them releasing the craftable precursors? I know that was one of the many things they mentioned, and failed to deliver, as wanting to release before the new year. Has it not been brought back up or the idea scrapped? I just started playing again after 5-6 months away so i’m a bit behind on the happenings.

Pretty much, they are working on it, but no ETA on delivery.

How about something like, 250 Mystic Clovers, 100 Bloodstone Bricks, 100 Empyrean Stars, and a Gift of <Precursor> (new item that is craftable, recipe bought from Miyani and similar to the other Gifts of recipes).

This would help remove excess bloodstone, and empyrean from the game. It would also help to create more Tier 6 mats to help prevent the costs of those mats from skyrocketing. It will, however, cause the price of ectos to go up. Then of course whatever mats would be needed to create the gift of precursor, which I think should be similar to crafting an ascended weapon already.

Of course you can still obtain by random drop, from the Mystic Toilet, or by buying from the TP. Crafted Precursors come account/soulbound to keep from inflating the market.

[PvE] Does dodging have enough of a cooldown?

So, you’ve gone from a zerker meta to a PVT meta. What have you accomplished? You are not in anyway helping build diversity, but actually limiting it.

A thief can be in full zerk gear, but a support player by spamming blind fields, meaning that being in anything other that dps gear is pointless, as no one will be taking much if any damage.

Guardian and Mesmer can use reflect, allowing the group to not take damage from projectiles, making survivability gear/traits pointless.

There are plenty of “support” options through weapon skills and utilities that needing any other gear in pve is pointless.

I understand that people want build diversity and want to go into a dungeon as a water camping healing ele and feel useful/needed by the group, but that isn’t the case. Yes, you can go into an instance as a water camping healing ele, but unless your group lacks a lot of dps (which they will be lacking one person’s dps as you would be in healing), then needing heals or a tank is a useless concept.

This game was designed with the intent that no one class or spec would be required to complete content. This means that you can complete Arah with a group full of Necros and Rangers, if you are so inclined.

I hate to say it, but I don’t really see it as being in the game’s best interest to change the way that they are acquired. Think about it, every time one is listed to be sold, that is a large chunk of money that is removed permanently from the game environment. Let’s say I post a Dusk at 1000 gold, as soon as I post it, I pay a non-refundable 150 gold. Yes, there are a lot of interactions that occur daily, but to be able to remove such a significant amount of gold from the world with just one item, is too good.

Tired of people expecting me to heal them

in Guardian

Fatalyz.7168

Yeah, well, how effective was most of that healing? Just because you can burst heal for a few second and then basically be dead in the water for a few minutes, doesn’t make you an effective healer.

While Tome of Courage is down, a guardian with healing breeze and a staff will heal for around 120k per minute (so 720k in 6 minutes) in group healing.

healing for 2000 per second does not stop a zerker player from bursting you down in 2 seconds. If you are a 18k HP ele and a mob hits you forv25k with one attack or 15k with two seperate attacks you will still die. healing is only as effective as your damage mitigation from blocks, blinds, protection or…. dodge rolling. But if you are doing all those things already you aren’t taking damage and if you are it is very little. Thus healer is useless. The same way my DPS medi guard cuts through a warrior’s healing signet and still kills them in a few seconds.

On the contrary, burst healing another player should probably provide enough time for them to kill a zerker player (2000 health per second is merely the average, the amount that can be restored in a short amount of time is a lot higher than that as far as I’m aware). Of course they’d still need to dodge where appropriate, healing might not save them forever but it will give them the opportunity to kill the zerker before they’re bursted. Not that a healer guardian only heals.

Is hitting for 25k with one attack even possible in PvE? Is hitting for 15k with one attack even possible? From my experience in PvE, it certainly doesn’t seem like it (not that I do PvE much, but I’ve never been one-shotted by anything). That said, people can usually run whatever they want in dungeons and still be fine. Of course, zerker gear is the fastest way to do complete dungeons.

Just to add, I have hit 17k with my Warrior on a Headshot, but that was kitten near almost perfect conditions, and I’ve done 16k in WvW.

That was it? Came back from a 4 month break

Thanks for the responses. Thrashbarg, what did you mean “search for treasure”, and “try to organize maps to hit t3/t4 status” – what does that mean?

While I’m not Thrash, I would assume that the “search for treasure” refers to the treasure boxes that show up when the sandstorm starts.

The “try to organize maps to hit t3/t4 status” is referring to completing events while the sandstorm has resided. The more events (and other objectives I’m sure, but unaware of) that are completed the higher the Tier status gets. Opening up new tiers opens up additional things to buy on the Tier vendors in these zones, until the next sandstorm which resets it when it finishes, I believe.

Like the OP , I am not a big fan of the drip feed content……hoping there is an expansion soon….

I am pretty sure that Living Story and the 2 week content additions are our expansions. At the end of the story, the total amount of content is supposed to equal an expansion packs worth of content.

I can be wrong about this, but this was my understanding of what their goal was for Living Story content.

Then as ABrooke suggested, I would start by working on map completion (hearts, vistas, etc.). As I have 4 toons with full map completion, one of the things that I did to break it up, was try to find the jumping puzzles in each zone (if you like those, I loved them) and see if you can solve it on your own.

There isn’t much of a loot grind in this game, unless you want to work towards full ascended and a Legendary. It was intended when the game launched that as soon as you hit 80 you could easily have the best in slot gear. With the introduction of Ascended gear, it can take you a couple of months to complete the set, but that is mostly due to time gating. If you have the money, you can speed up the process significantly.

I hope this helps.

My first question would be, what type of content do you enjoy? Do you prefer WvW, Team based PvP, PvE, or a combination of all? There are a lot of different things that you can do in the game to level and have fun.

If you can give us an idea of what type of content you want to enjoy, we can give you ideas based on what you will prefer.

I was in your position (going for twilight, just needed Dusk and t6) when I came back to the game a couple of months ago. When I got back I decided that I wanted Twilight more than anything else, so I dumped my entire warehouse of anything that did not contribute to that goal and saved everything else I got. In the end I was able to outright buy Dusk from the TP. Would I do it again? 100%. When you are that close, it’s not worth it, IMO, to risk it all on a gamble.

Obsidian Shards for a Legendary.

Is there another way to get my obsidian shards besides balthazar? The event is clearly broken for too long and no one even cares that much of the karma gear or temples.
I’ve got 525k karma waiting for balthazar to get my shards for gift of mastery…….

Dragonbrand had it open for a little while yesterday. I was at a claw event and brought up opening up Temple of Balthazar, then went to Lions Arch and spammed. Ended up with about 40 people out there doing the event.

From what I’ve seen the North path for us hasn’t bugged yet, it’s just getting the temple itself open. IMO, it’s one of the hardest.

Not sure which tonic you are referring too. However I do have an Endless Mystery Tonic that has unlimited transformations. That came from a Black Lion Chest, not crafting.

….Getting 300 gold for the average gamer (work, family, 2-3 hours a day of playtime at most) as the game is now is an almost insurmountable task, if they want to actually have any fun in the game and not only grind for money…..

You are assuming that Legendaries are meant for everyone and that the average gamer should get one in a “reasonable amount of time”. Sorry, but you are incorrect on the design intent behind Legendaries.

Hit lv30, no idea how to get to a dungeon...

I’ve heard I get mail sending me to my first dungeon, but I didn’t receive it. I was then told to advance my ps, so I did that. It’s now at lv31, just got sent to lions arch but still nothing?

Am I missing something or is it still a bit further into my PS?

Thanks in advance!

Fortunately, (at least as far as I’m aware) you don’t need this e-mail to do any dungeons, it is really just to show you where it is. At level 30, which is the first dungeon, it is located in the Charr starting zone; The Plains of Ashford, I believe.

The dungeons show up on your overall map as a door icon, once you are the level to run the dungeon.

Dungeon Designers should run their own dungeons.

Can’t PUG for tokens anymore.

And this isn’t all dungeons. Mostly just superweapon and rhiannon paths for COF. kitten’s designed to kill you for no reason.

PUG’s were never intended to do explorable mode dungeons (which extends by default to getting tokens). Although, they can be done, but with usually a lot of frustration. They were never designed with PUG groups in mind. Anet has said this time and time again.

Voice comm required to run a 5 man casual MMO? If that’s working as intended, this game is going to be a laughing stock. I successfully raided endgame everquest and vanilla/BC WoW before voice com was ubiquitous. A game should be playable with the tools that it provides. To require more technology than a game provides you to achieve success in any content, let alone a meaningless 5 man dungeon that provides nothing but cosmetic upgrades, is outrageous.

Basically what you’re all defending is Anet putting a stopgag on dungeon PvE. There is no endgame in this game, there’s no raids, there’s nothing. It was a bad idea from the start to design a game so that there would be no raiding endgame, that’s what MMOs have always been and always will be about as the endgame. There’s literally nothing else to do if you don’t want to WvW or sPvP or do jumping puzzles like a twelve-year old girl.

I agree with the earlier poster than Anet only took a month to slit its own throat.

This is a very casual friendly game. That should be easy to see given that 90% of the content in the game is not driven around lengthy time sinks. In this game, 5-man dungeons are not geared around casual players, (you seem to think they should be and in most games that would be true). Voice Comm is not required, but communication and being able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your party members is.

The “endgame” in this game was not meant to be dungeons. If dungeons were meant to be endgame, then there would be some sort of gear progress requirement, otherwise what would be the point (see SWTOR). The endgame is basically what you did leveling; running around and doing DE’s, gathering, pvping, etc.

Lol MMO where you can’t find a pick-up group? That’s comical. Good luck Anet.

You can find pick-up groups for just about everything in this game. However, PUG’s were never intended to do explorable mode dungeons. Although they can be done, but with usually a lot of frustration, they were never designed with PUG groups in mind. Anet has said this time and time again.

@ Gray

I understood your point, was just making my point clearer. If those target groups are having difficulty, then yes it is an issue. I more or less got tired of seeing the generic “I can’t PUG this anymore” threads and was trying to address those specifically :P

As far as explorable’s the only one I’ve completed thus far was CM butler path, and that was a pain, granted it was first explorable that I had done and was only lvl 45 or 46, can’t remember. Just hit 80 not long ago and helping my group catch up so I am looking forward to more. Although that wasn’t part of my post, just to let you know about me.

@ Gray

Whether I can or can not is not the point of my post. The point of my post is to say that the devs themselves have said that explorable mode dungeons are not for PUG’s. I was responding to his statement that they should have let PUG’s test it so that they could see it was impossible for them to do. My statement merely was that is the point behind explorable mode dungeons, that they are not meant to be done by PUG’s. I see that bothers a good amount of people here, and those seem to think that the explorable mode dungeons should be able to be done by PUG’s when the dev’s have said that they are not meant for that.

Why not test the new patch with PUG’s? That way you can see how impossible it is with a random group of people. That is, of course, considering you can actually make a group. All the dungeons are dead on my server.

Because the Explorable mode dungeons were never meant to be done by PUG’s? That is their design intent for explorable mode dungeons anyway. If you can’t do them with a PUG, so what, you aren’t intended to. If you can’t do them with a static group, so what, you aren’t skilled or organized enough. Point is that they have said Explorable Mode dungeons were not for casuals or PUG’s and should not be able to be PUGed. They were designed for skilled, organized, and dedicated groups that prefer a challenge. If this design isn’t what you are looking for, there really isn’t anything else to say except that there are plenty of other games out there were the dungeons are meant to be PUGed.
