If it wasn’t meant to be, how come the terrain also changed, the ledge where people used to stand was also removed, along with the new massive amount of Ice Shards that kill the golems.
Wait, you mean you have to do the event the way it was designed? Heavens no..
Escorting the golems is WAY faster than trying to dps him down, always have been.. Players are just lazy and want to Press 1 to Win.

You guys realize Camelot unchained isn’t going to be easy mode like this? Mark Jacobs is making the game for hardcore skill players…. Not Zerging morons who press 2-3 buttons. I’m willing to bet 70-80% of gw2 won’t like how challenging actually fighting people will be in that game because it won’t be ez mode like WoW and this starter mmo.
You make it seem as if people can’t adapt to a new playstyle.

You are taking that out of context, PAXA is purely a 5-man roaming group, working off group diversity and builds. His signature of more of “turning a nose up” at the larger zerg servers and zerg-minded casuals.

I agree there is an easy EASY fix for population. Open free transfers for two weeks. Lower the queue limit on each map to say 60. Done. Watch all the guilds with large groups 1.) Break into smaller 30 man groups to accommodate. 2.) Transfer to servers with a lower population.
no
kaineng
ad infinitum
people will not do this on their own. yes, i too know its what everyone wants. but people think they want to be winning more than they think they want to have mostly even fights, and that mentality gravitates toward our current situation of stacking 1-3 servers and leaving 10+ as ghost towns in comparison.
a week of free transfers was tried. where are et, fc, hod, vabbi, fow? still at the bottom. fc had people take a vacation for a week and go back. in eu, people stacked piken because anet failed in their execution for servers that needed transfers.
Majority of the people who transferred were not WvW specific. We moved to ET during this time and took about 25 people, half got in and the other half had to pay.
Free transfers mostly result in 1) PvE’rs moving and 2) few select stacked servers.

Orbs will never be a solid object again, won’t happen. Any new orb will be some kind of “stay and cap these points to earn buff” deal. Hold a certain number of points and you get a buff, lose them and it’s gone but you can recap quickly to earn it back.
Stationary areas, kind of like the capture points in sPvP, or supply camps in WvW.
Server A holds 2 of 5
Server B holds 2 of 5.
Server C holds 1 of 5A and B will be trying to capture that 3rd point to give them the buff and C will be trying to stop it, resulting in many skirmishes just for a buff. This leaves smaller teams the ability to get caught up in “Orb Wars” while the main force is attacking/defending towers/keep/garrison. This will also allow for each server to have a “fair” chance at getting it, no more keeping an orb just because you have a T3 garrison or T3 hills, holding an “orb buff” will be an accurate representation of who is on the map. Server C could own NOTHING on it, but still control the “orb buff” for Server B’s map.
ps: hi titan i miss you
I like that idea as well but I still think that my own would be a viable addition. Care to explain why it wouldn’t be?
Titan[PAXA]/Warrior
The main reason ANet took out Orbs is because they were a physical item that could be hacked via teleporting or flying, or by PvDooring in the off hours allowing for the stronger server to always end up with all 3 orbs. This lead to the better server with a 15% boost after the weekend. In order to replace the “old” orbs, they have to develop a hack proof way to do that. Meaning it can’t be a physical object. To me, capture points would be the only way to do this.
Allowing them to become a “cap and hold” changes that stigma and allows for a very small group of players on 1 map to hold the “orb buff” for their server.
It also pulls in a very interesting open-field dynamic. Does a server choose to hold the spots with a decent percent of their forces or pull those forces out (letting another server cap) to defend something else? Does the attacking force only cap the points to pull the other server out from behind their keeps/tower opening them up for other kinds of sneak attacks?
Do you not think that my idea, the bonus is only being given to players in a 2,000 range, would fix the hacking problem?
No, it would just encourage bunkering down in a Keep. No need to defend outer or inner walls when you have the orb buff and they don’t.

Actually your comparison and reasoning is wrong. Visunah is rank 1. Desolation is rank 7. So using winner goes up and loser goes down, Desolation would have never been ranked against #1, but the dropping rank 3 and rank 5.
This may not be a big deal in EU where the gaps might not be as large between tiers, but on the NA side whether its JQ, SoR, or BG, facing T1 with a T3 will result in one thing: slaughter. So the idea of T1 vs. T2 vs. T3 blowouts that WULD would guarantee on a bi-weekly basis is valid, at least in NA with utmost certainty.
Exactly how often did the old system kitten up?
HoD, ET, SoS, SBI, and every other server that imploded had a slow, painful climb down the tiers while stifling the ability of other servers to climb up to where they actually belong (likewise for the bandwagon servers who had to climb their way upwards but had to fight for months to climb because glicko wasn’t a proper measure for cross-tier performance). T8 was a catastrophe until the devs forcefully intervened.
You seem to have forget a lot of terrible events with the old system.
ET took from week 41 to week 1 to get from T1 to T8. That’s 12 weeks of pointless matches.
KA took from week 51 to week 7 to get from T8 to T2. Scoring 400k in most weeks.
I love this new system so much more than that one.
My fun laughs at your server pride.
on the surface, Vizunah Square vs Jade Sea vs Desolation looks a bit lopsided, but this is a T1 vs T2 vs T3 match, which is exactly the kind of match you’d expect to see every other week if we were using the Winner-Up-Loser-Down system that so many people are claiming would be better. so there’s little point complaining about that one.
It’s a 106k BLOWOUT, can people finally stop saying WULD is better, because this shows that it is not.

I don’t understand why thieves would get torment too. They’re already the fastest class and hard to catch as it is, no it seems you would get punished too if you try and chase after them.
Of course we don’t know how exactly the new condition is gonna work yet or how powerful it is but that is just my initial assumption.
I raced a warrior on my thief while farming coffers, beat me to almost every one, I even used Inf strike and shadowstep to try and win. GS/Sword+warhorn is more mobile than a thief sadly. Maybe I’m just bad but they are almost on par with each other depending on the situation.
Well one of the biggest advantages with thief is Z-axis teleports, of which warriors have none. So given flat terrain, yes a warrior might beat you in a straight line but that’s about it.
True, but there are very few places (in WvW) where a thief can port up.
I’m waiting to see how the implement this condition. I think a lot of people are overthinking this, not to mention, ANet picked these classes for a reason we can’t clearly see.
I’m sorry but I just don’t see how that is possible (for a warrior to beat a thief). Short bow alone covers more than anything they can do. 25% speed buff from signet/swift on dodge etc.
Lol what? really..?
You mean the GS whirl (450), the GS rush (1200), the sword leap (600) AND the constant swiftness..? I think that is what you meant to say… or you missed in OP where I said “a warrior using a GS and sword/warhorn has the same open field mobility as a thief”..

hi i dont mean to be rude, but so what ur from teir 1?, teir 1 is no skill what so ever, go tank and press 1 in the blob train, i hate teir 1, oh one more thing get ur head out of ur back side.
As for WvW, if all you do is run and press 1, you aren’t playing correctly. The skill of zerg fighting is knowing when to engage, how far to push, and having a plan to get back out. The best zergs are typically dominated by one guild who have a variety of supporting builds. They are actually quite coordinated with their skill and gear choices.
@Lord – Is Fist of the Empire on JQ or SoR?
Fist of the Empire is on SoS. Zerg ball strategy as you say (style) is correct. It is NOT about pressing 1 to win. Many guilds spend a LOT of resources, time and money to test builds. There are many things other than Press 1 and pop all utilities when it comes to fighting a zerg.
We took a lot of pride in fighting outnumbered, relying on group synergy, tactics and military discipline to win.
OT.. Titan is my go to guy for Warrior builds. I try to talk to him AT LEAST once a week about it. I brought him to Fist of the Empire myself and I have huge respect for this guy.

Well most of the time I keep high class. Last night I was sipping Cristal, smoking a Cuban, listening to the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 by Sir Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, whilst being serviced by several porn star dropouts. Being a great philanthropist is on my lifes passions now that I am fantastically rich and almost famous.
But sometimes you just gotta return to your roots and be one of the common plebeians and drink a case of Keystone Light. It is easy to lose sight of humanity’s plight being a 1%’er.

No i am not. I said when I am down. Or anyone else fighting a thief.
Thieves are a stealth class… there is a reason they go invisible when you are downed, to kill you.
My fun laughs at your server pride.
Yeah mesmers can but they are easy to kill. That skill is annoying when they r near a tower, but they arent all the time. Thieves can do it whenever you are done. I am asking why they do it…not other classes that are able to. I have yet been able to damage a stealth thief when i am down.
Are you talking bout when YOU are downed, or THEY are down.. you keep flipping back and forth.
My fun laughs at your server pride.
When you lose your hp in wvw, you get another 4 skills to try and help you get back up. When you stand near that down person you can “Finish Them!” for instant kill.
Thieves are the only class that are able to go invisible to avoid being damaged when they use “Finish Them!” to instant kill you. Just doesn’t seem fair and kinda annoying you have no chance…If i was fighting a mesmer, I’d get back up quickly.
You forgot mesmers can go invisible too and Ele can mist form back in to a tower.

I think something ANet needs to look at on the BL maps is the wide open spaces in the middle, the lake, is huge and annoying and serves no purpose. Lower the water levels, add some structures (good siege spots) and a couple of hills and you’ve got great areas for defense, attacking and small group roaming.
If you think of FPS like BF and CoD, they have huge maps but within those maps they have very close quarter combat, gives you the sense of excitement and fast-paced action but on a large map. “Just a small part of the action” mindset comes into play.
My fun laughs at your server pride.
Am I the only person who scrolled down to SoS? Hopefully they finally get an even match-up next week :p
Nope. seeing TC/DB as our top match-up makes me wanna cry, a full 1.2% higher than any other.
EDIT: Anyone else find it weird that on the NA side, #1v#2v#3 has almost a 40% chance of happening, while EU (same matchup) is only at 9%? Is this because BBay moved up 3 spots this week? And 5 servers (#3 to #7) are within 100 rating of each other?

(edited by Feed Me Change.6528)
I’m still not sure I see the basis of this thread.. saying someone is “being rewarded for a 5 month break” is complete BS. IT IS CALLED LUCK. There is no system to give MF to people who don’t log in for a certain period of time.
Except there is, and it’s called ‘Diminishing returns’ and I personally don’t believe it’s working correctly, or is bugged in its current state.
It’s plainly visible with the new event hologram mobs. Problem is, DR is not resetting, and could also be impacting what’s inside dragon coffers as well, as shown by the fair-weather players who already have their tickets, and die-hards who don’t.
That is incorrect. You are explaining a system of REDUCED MF for someone who is farming the same mobs/same spot in the same zone for a period of time. I am explaining that there is NOT a system where someone’s MF is boosted over the normal for not longing in. IE, Not logging in for 2 months = 500% base MF.
I’m trying to say, that if I don’t log in today and you do, when I log in tomorrow we will have the same base magic find or “luck factor”. If I don’t log in for 3 weeks and do you every day, you and I will still have the same base magic find on that day.
I do apologize if I didn’t explain clear enough in my OP.
