i dont know what people expect, a new map every week?
as for boring, “going strictly pvp” might have something to do with it. mix it up/
Yes mixing it up helps. PvE and WvW are also a lot of fun, I don’t know why so many people shun them.
Actually, I shun PvE/WvW for exactly the same reason many people from those places shun PvP——NONE of my hard-earned rewards are usable.
As a player who mostly PvP I have a Sylvari necromancer who looks absolutely menacing wearing cultural T3 but what does she look like in WvW, a tavern wench?
Also, WvW allows veteran players to have better gear and stats to dominate new comers~which, is not the thing I look for in a game like Guild Wars
What other game, of this size and success, does this? Why keep the players in the dark so much?
What other game of this size and success releases patches with this frequency and amount of content?
not very many.
While I agree our game has, on all aspects, very brilliant designs among its peers (it’s why I’m still here, right?), I think it is striving so hard to reach the sky that it’s ignoring the humble ground~which is crumbling.
Guild Wars 2 brought this 2-week deadline upon itself. NOBODY asked them to update stuffs on such a crazy frequency. Even the supposedly richest (funding wise) World of Warcraft does updates no more frequently than a month.
What we ended up with is this fatigued company, trying to satisfy all three consumers clusters (PvP, WvW, PvE) at the same time~~and the constant disappointment from all three clusters as well.
With this 0-subscription fee and the ideal of making 0 expansion, Guild Wars already has a very limited budget compared to others. They should focus more on the fundamental things, not keep striking for “brilliant ideas”, “industry-challenging innovations”~~while its playerbases remain confused about what this game is really good at.
If they want to be proud of doing stuffs other games of this size cannot do~they would first have to do the stuffs those games CAN do, otherwise it is like a spoiled girl inside a royal but poor family~~throwing away money buying Louis Vuitton (which, most girls of the same age certainly do not have), while having no spared money to buy even just a breakfast.
So you opened 8 and the timer increased by an hour each time, then opened the 9th and it increased by a few seconds, then the 10th increased it by a few seconds again. You then opened a further 50 each one just resetting to 8 hours total and you never thought to stop at any point?
Yeah, why hadn’t I thought about this?
ROFL
this tells you to not play video games more than 8 hours in a row
I’ve bought Sylvari Light T3, Norn Medium T2 and Light T1
Nothing counted so far. Maybe this is a bug, not intentionally excluded?
I reflected a skyham troll engi’s rifle knockback and he knocked himself onto a panel, then my net turret immob’d him.
Totally all skill and not random.
Sure, AIs are so smart. They even counter your combo for you!
0 Dislikes, while the current main theme get 4
Seriously, this is even better than Elder Scroll: Skyrim. Just release a 800-Gem music pack onto the Gem Store that allows the players to hear this one in combat!
ANet, please fix this: Asuras are STILL bigger than the grass.
They should fix it, indeed. Why should Asuras be visible at all?
Ok look, I want to be honest.
Guild Wars 2 Player vs. Player is fun to play. It is the best at the moment but it is so underdeveloped when there is this giant monster called World vs. World.
World vs. World is fun and all. But if anything, it is killing every thing that could have been devoted to making PvP better in this game.
1. Designers
They are making Edge of the Mists, which is a very large WvW map. This new map is coming out this year. It took away designers that could have been deployed to make new PvP maps or improve existing ones (looks at Skyhammer)
Speaking of which, we’ve never heard about ANYTHING about new maps or upcoming game modes after Skyhammer. Are they being worked on, or the developers simply cannot do more than making empty promises saying “there will be new game modes” after 1.5 years of the game release?
2. Balance
I need to talk about the balance, but essentially a quick example~when PvP players complain about AoE being faceroll-strong WvW players whine about AoE not being strong enough to kill mindless zergs. HOW are you going to balance this game at all if people are completely asking for opposite balance changes???
3. Community focus
It is being taken away and distracted. Josh “Grouch” Davis is now being moved to the WvW forums as its new director.
I’m not saying it is a bad thing, yes alright, it is definitely a good thing for WvW crowds because Josh really knows how to improve this game. As you know, WvW has been even less improved than PvP. Players there are even less satisfied than we are.
WHY did this game have to make this WvW mode out of thin power is completely beyond me, but when one of our most talented community coordinator can no longer focus his attention on PvP——which is the soul of Guild Wars 2 e-sports~~~~I don’t know what future holds for us. Or if there can be any future. At all.
When there is so many other places to waste a HUGE amount of ArenaNet’s hard-earned money on~~Living Stories, World vs. World, Gem Store~~I don’t know how much could be left at all to even do any PvP stuffs.
We should feel really lucky they even bothered to add a new glory vendor on Dec. 10th, 2013….
oh my, it’s so
Brutal
I love skyhammer.
I get so happy every time this map pops up in soloq. The kind of skill it requires is completely different than normal maps and its like a breath of fresh air for me.
IMO we need more maps like it.
I can’t tell whether this is rage or sarcasm…
reason 1
That means…
if you play asura you deserve no mercy?
Or something like that?
I would have been more satisfied if you showed a warrior with BALANCED Stance on.
Warrior Balanced? Sure! We even have a stance for that!XD
Asura are cool and all but when you start playing pEtTiNg ZoO with a minimum-size Asura to hide right INSIDE your cluster-kitten of spirits~~~
Asuras are never cool.XD
If you go warrior, you have to go fair and true. So you have to play norn, and fight the enemies from the height of your moral high ground.XD
I like you <3
-Max-sized Norn Guardian main
Im guessing you are reffering to staff elememtalist with some focus on fire? It could possibly be the pyromancer build, or something like that.
You might want to be a little bit more specific though, everyone is running their own build nowadays on eles, you might want to go to the ele forum and ask there for some good fire staff build for PvP.
My personal opinion? Stay away from it. That is, from eles and specially staff. If you are still dead set on staff ele then I recommend you the kamikaze build 10/20/10/0/30, 4 arcanes, focus on blasting staff, having the arcane shield on 25% hp, earth armor on 50% hp, elemental surge. One trick pony, hard, telegraphed, but if you pull it off, you might see some nice action before going down.
He was talking about skins. SKINS
Recent elementalist buffs not to your liking, huh?

I think the meta which was around Q2 of 2013 was the best. Necromancers were just buffed and Elementalists were not nerfed to the ground AAAAAND most importantly there were no pEtTiNg ZoO Spirit Rangers.
Seriously, anyone who thinks pEtTiNg ZoO is not OP should die in a Dhummfire.
~and now I think I have reached a point that, seeing this huge 90,000 rank point gap and feeling~~exhausted.
You’re so cute….
#150k x 4 + 450k 69-70 if you feel exhausted looking at your next rank up i should be dead already by now… -_-
Why thank you good sir/lady!
In all seriousness, though~I wouldn’t mind getting from 59-60 or 69-70~that sort of thing. You see, the armors of those ranks (even the Cultural Armors) are now available even to Rank 10s. As long as I have enough glory, I can just buy them from the Kodan vendor. If I want to forge something Phoenix/Dragon, I just go ahead, salvage whatever I purchased and get the token I need.
Rank 40, though~~it’s a big one. There are so many series of skins that I simply cannot get unless I am R40 or R50.
10/10 would buy, would read again
because great, smoldering smoking great looking new skins await me at Rank 40
Buuuuuuuuuuut it feels so so faaaaaar away
90,000 rank points are far harder to get than 90,000 glory because it has no booster~~
you know this crazy widening gap that it takes 45,000 to get from 39 to 40, not 15,000 like 38 to 39~~
~and now I think I have reached a point that, seeing this huge 90,000 rank point gap and feeling~~exhausted.
Please give me a reason to carry on and not asking ANet to raise my account Rank to 40 .________.
-An Exhausted R37 Player Who Wants to Be R40 ASAP
There’s currently no grinding for PvP. Just click the pvp button go to the mists, pick your gear/build and go.
They’ll be adding grinding for new gear options in the future because they’ve lost all hold on reality.
If you want to use your PvE gear in a PvP setting you can try WvW but it’s mostly a zergfest.
Would like elaborate on this. There’s currently NO grinding for statistical advantage in PvP.
BUT there are tons of PvP skins you get to grind for. Just for looking epic
Please tell me, ANet
(sorry I have to call you guys so many times. But the situation of PvP is so dire that i simply have to)….
WHYYYYYyyyy are you able to churn out amazing new finishers like this and charge us money on a monthly basis while not being able to make small balance hotfixs more often than a quarter-year?
Nice observation skills.
" I know a lot of turds, but this kitten smells nicer, so I prefer to keep this kitten "
That is a nice argument, but in the end it IS still a kitten
The Origins of Madness are:
1. Competitive esports scene
2. Best MMO with ABSOLUTELY no grind for stat
3. Living Story Is A Good Idea
That’s right, we are about to discover ArenaNet’s Origins of their Mad pland for Guild Wars 2. This mad plan is at long last coming to a conclusion. To earn 1,000,000 achievement points in the upcoming patch, you must sell your Guild Wars 2 account
Unlockables are not in line with the core values of Guild Wars. Please, give it up
10/10 would read again XDDDDDDD
Elementalist for espahts rofl
why is pEtTiNg ZoO a robot tho?
I genuinely hate sky hammer. In general I just skip it and spectate for the round since playing on it just kittenes me off. Does anyone actually like this map?
I do
Problem?
maybe PvE to sPvP but no way sPvP to PvE
some of gears in spvp are way too easy to earn while the same appearance are very hard to get in real world.
I wouldn’t consider 60,000 Glory+60 gold through PvP “easy”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/player-vs-player-rewards-roadmap/
Somewhere along this article they mentioned PvP armor will be merged with PvE system.
Soon~ we should keep bringing this up to remind ANet of their primoses
I feel ya. I too hope this come to reality as fast as possible. I am Rank36 in game and my PvP gears already outshine PvE ones by~~~too much for me to say in a post
The only thing that should be unlockable in PvP should be unique colors, Finishers and Ascetics. Like almost every other competitive game.
I like how you call them Ascetics XD Grindy-er than Ascended, eh?
Really, though, if you ask me even cosmetics should have been related to player skill and not be grindy
Any chance a dev that see’s this could reply with their thoughts on the reaction so far in this thread?
We got 2 replies pretty quick at the thread brain-storming about new Amulets. However, this thread remains untouched. Either the devs are having meetings and still cannot make a decision or this is underway and it is too late to reverse it…
Fingers crossed. I hope they realize that this unlock thing does not belong in the Guild Wars PvP franchise.
Ferocity will be in PvP – it will be weighted to keep the critical damage numbers relatively the same as they are now.
Awesome! Thanks for clarifying. As it happens, many of us believe Ferocity can be a great start to solving the Power-Creep issue.
Looking forward to the update, then!
When providing suggestions, keep in mind that we’d like to bring over existing stat combinations that exist in PvE/WvW already, but that doesn’t necessarily rule-out creating brand new stat combos. As we mentioned on Ready Up on Friday, the addition of ferocity could open up new combinations with critical damage as the heaviest stat.
Just something to keep in mind!
Got a question if you will, Josh. Lord Helseth mentioned on his TwitchTV (as well brought up by you guys at the first part of the Ready Up) Ferocity won’t actually make it into PvP. This means it will only stay in PvE/WvW and we PvPers are still left with Precision, thus thinking up new Amulets using Ferocity is a waste of time.
Is this true?
30 hp/sec = 1,800 hp/min = 108,000 hp/hour >> Max hp pool of any Warrior
This update will kill any warrior in an hour!!! Too much, ANet! Don’t do it!
Templar

In the next year or so the developers will finally succumb and add enemy cast bars. Balancing animations is proving too difficult for them.
I prefer this much more. Let’s promote this idea instead
so we have been fed all these HIGHLY positive market reports from you guys, but what you’ve been keep doing is making your game more and more like the games you are supposed to differentiate from.
Please, just stop this, or you are about to unlock your own doom.
I’d just take the time to marvel at the artworks they put in the background because those are classy
I think hating on Asura is not solving the root of this problem. They are~cute, you see.
What if, we can work on Asuran animations and make them more exaggerated/visually distinct than what they current are?
What about you give players the chance to see the enemies as the race they want?
To ban asura is one thing~I’ll stop defending them if you so desire.
But to make all races look human is entirely another thing.Nullifying the racial choice of all other players just for your own convenience. Or I should say, nullifying those choices because you as a player have not the skill of reading and recognizing key skill animations.
What is the difference between this and making cheesy builds for players that cannot play competitively? Is this what people would perceive as quality gameplay design?
I’m not negating your choice. You are not forced to look like anything. I just make sure that an artistic choice doesn’t hinder the gameplay. I already can decide not to see the colour of your armor. And might actually be easier with people who have lagging problems. And is STILL less restrictive than banning asuras. Why the hell one that plays asura in pve should be forced to make another character for spvp, or another contrieved effect?
And I could say the same of players who play min size asura: they have not the skill to deal with telegraphed moves, so they play like that. I won’t because people might actually like them.
It’s like saying it’s cheesy to change keybinding.
And more than that, if races don’t make much of an advantage, why should that be a problem?
P.S.: I play max sized norn, so I don’t see why that should be an issue.
My main is a max sized Norn Guardian so~alright, I am convinced. Sort of.
I still think it is odd to integrate. Wouldn’t it somehow mean a waste to animation development? Armor dyes are much cheaper to make in comparison to armor SHAPES (i.e. Races), when people choose to standardize everyone to human they potentially miss out on very well-design animations of non-humans. This would especially be an issue for PvP-only players. I am one of those players.
Also, seeing my enemy as human making like say Asura voices is….it simply breaks the immersion.
I think hating on Asura is not solving the root of this problem. They are~cute, you see.

5)Power necro, place wells, lich form, spam 1.
nooo dont hate on power necro…
i would be suprised if any competent player died to the rotation you described.
S/he doesn’t really play power necro, I think XD
We Power Necros are very~~different, from our condi spamming comrades, you see.
We need familiarity with Axe/Focus or Dagger/Warhorn combos to play. We also need to bear in mind each of our Well’s complex function and their positioning, for they are not condition damage, so knowing when to conjure a Well/when to spam 1~, I mean, when to draw our daggers and cut our foes to pieces is pretty tricky to master.
The biggest difference, however, is that we require skills to play.
Great game. Ground-breaking start. Very noble manifesto. Beautiful ambition.
Addictive PvP gameplay (regardless of balance)Mediocre feedback-gathering. Laughable communication within the company.
Poor execution of patches following its glorious 2012 Q4. At some point, this game is barely recognizable as Guild Wars 2 because it has branched too far away from its predecessor.
This game is trying too hard to please EVERY type of RPG gamer: story-follower, PvP, casual player, PvE grinder, smart people, people with no-life~~~~ending up disappointing everyone
Lines like it’s disappointing everyone are demonstrably wrong. Are you saying no one in this thread likes the game and enjoys it. Because barring me and other long term players who like the game, there are people who don’t usually post here who have said they like the game.
So when people use wording like disappointing everyone, it does nothing to further their point of view. It only makes them look like they think their opinion is what everyone is feeling.
This is clearly not the case.
I supposed I have offended you, even if it is not my intention, then?
By the way, I am still playing this game on a daily basis, so~I guess you can accuse me of being another hater but it does no good to your ANet-supporting-reputation.
Like I said first and foremost this game is great so even if makes every decision wrong it is still better than League of Legends or World of Warcraft in my mind.
Just listen to the Norn theme music, behold the vista of Hoelbrak, and walk The Grove & explore it. Scarlet’s LS is poorly told but look at all those machine designs. All these are genius works, there is simply no need to praise them because they are simply beyond praising.
Because I believe the Guild Wars franchise has always been aiming for somewhere much higher than any of its rival does. Because I know Guild Wars doesn’t need 1 more praising. This game is supposed to be the changer of no MMO, but ALL video game industry. It cannot be content of being “an okay game”, which it is now.
What about you, a fellow believer? Are you content with where our game is currently at or do you want to be somewhere higher?

2) Evade condition thief
Trust me, it’s easier even than MM Necro, which you at least need to press keyboard 6-10 for ONCE. With Evade condition you only need to :

“The Distant Future: A new Pale Tree seed is left after the destruction, and the next arc of the Living Story centers around the germination of a new Pale Tree in the newly-cleansed Orr. This will serve as the new Sylvari starting area”
Had I skipped your four posts to read this, I would say no more than a “cool story bro”
However, having read all of them~you sir, you are a genius. This could totally suffice for ANet’s “I’ve nailed Game of Thrones” claim. I cannot wait
Skins

2400 OMG
I salute you, good sir
Now please, go play a staff elementalist. It plays like an assassin I trust. Then people will see Elementalists are viable
All of the high-level weapon skins are available from the Mystery Coffers. This includes Dragon, Phoenix, and Shark.
Blast, I mean no offense but this is looking too classy for new players, Mr.Davis. Kinda making those high rank gears overly available.
Remember weeks ago people talk about how Rank 29 already has an Icy Dragon Sword from GW1 when a Rank 60 could have none of those?
Is it possible to re-design Mystery Coffers so that our Rank and Magic Find affect the chance we get top-rank skins positively? The higher rank or the more Magic Find you have, they higher chance you have at getting Dragon, Phoenix and Shark skins from Mystery Coffers
I think eles are viable in sPvP but almost non-playable in Arena. Maybe it’s the 8v8 setting of hotjoins making ele suitable since the class’s staff skills are buffed to the degree that can trash zergs pretty well
In Arena, 5v5, you 2v2 or 1v1 a lot with your opponent team~
1. Personal Story
I am not asking for a Mass Effect quality of work, but if you gonna let me choose my bio at character creation then take sides between the 3 faction~at least make those choices matter in the mega story~no one like that bloody tree
2. Seperation of PvE/PvP gears
How in the world am I not allowed to bring my hard-earned PvP skins into PvE!?
3.World vs World
I am not a fan of turning this game in to clustercrap of large-scale zergers, however cool the idea may sound. Imagine how many resources could have been used to make sPvP fantastic had ANet not waste them on this….
4. Living Story
I HATE THEM. Why not use those efforts to continue the Personal Story? Everything before the pact and Trahearne is great…and All Is Vain
5. Seperation of PvP & Balance team
This game IS advertised as a PvP-oriented game!!!!! So how the bloody crap can you not let PvP designers balance the game!?!!? E-SPORTS!?!?!?
