Okay, I’ve been whining for 3 months now: When is the manifesto going to live up to its ‘true creed’ to quote Martin Luther King.
I only play on one character. And (sadly) it’s engineer which is absolutely rubbish in dungeons. They really are useless.
But the already overlord warrior gets a signet buff? Why?
I’m not saying the warriors don’t deserve the buff or should be nerfed, but give other classes except warrior/guardian/mesmer something to do in your dungeons! At the moment there aren’t good reasons to not pick any of the w/g/m classes.
Or can anyone give a reason why to pick, say, an engineer or a ranger?
Healing turret looks interesting, but everything else? Simply meh

Isn’t confusion getting a 50% reduction in WvW? Haven’t seen anyone mention it here on the Engie forums. Someone told me about in game this weekend and I see a lot of posts regarding it in the Mesmer forums. Is it just applying to mesmers? I would think it would apply across the board. If so, Engies taking a pretty big nerf there.
They said they would split WvW/PvP/PvE. If so it could be true that confusion will get a nerf.
But seriously, confusion in PvE just sucks balls. It only REALLY hammers in WvW.

I support hammers, but for KITTEN sake no more kits, if we get hammer it should be a primary weapon. Being locked into melee isn’t an issue because you could just pick up a ranged kit, instead of the other way around.

Engine call Op and all other class on Eles. Fair enough.
Mesmer and all other class call Op on Engine.
Thief and all other class call Op on Ranger for the pet deal way too dams.

I see Engine is fine ATM, and No I don’t main an Engineer,worst, I play OP Eles. I tried Engine the other day, HGH build, completely wreck on my face. Because I am new to Engine and I need to learn how the Engine works to make it works. All other classes are the same, even with Warrior. Why one person can dominate in PvP with War while other can’t, and they call the class being UP? And when one person find it hard to defeat a class,they call the class OP? Not so long ago, Engine was considered as one of the worst class out there and Boom, people call for OP?Once War dominate PvP and Boom, people see it as one of the worst class whilst I remember there is no major nerf to War and the class was one getting quite a lot of buff.Correct me if I am wrong though. With the nerf of Quickness,Boom,War is no more viable in PvP? Should I call people being so simple minded,relying too much on one skill to kill? My 2c here is Be creative people,and learn to play your class properly and counter other class. I believe in the beginning, all class was balanced (devs not too stupid to get one class is way too much different than other),then people call for nerf and buff here and there (because they don’t know about learning and adapt), we got into the mess right now. Orb Of Energy: Turn into a targetable ball of energy replacing your health pool. If you survive for the next 5 seconds, erupt dealing heavy damage, blinding foes, and returning to your old life pool. Additionally recharge all weapon skills. No skills or actions can be taken inside in this form (you can only move around). Dieing with the orb active returns you to your old health pool and puts all weapon skills and attunements on a +2 second cooldown. Orb health is equal to your max health. Cooldown 240 seconds. Combo Finisher: Blast. -WJust remove all elites skills on eles i rather use one extra utility skill than an elite skill.
That wouldn’t happen and here’s why.
Elite skills are supposed to be “oh no, turn tide I must. Morph into giant beast I will”. The current balance, although not that great (lets be honest) is centered around everyone having 1 healing, 3 utilities, and 1 elite skill. If you suddenly allowed 1 healing 4 utility, think of how many builds could become ridiculously overpowered? They have it this way for the opportunity costs and to make players think of their build. Problem is, not many elites are useful and several elites serve no purpose at all but to look flashy and die shortly after.
That is why I made this thread. They may not be taken, or ever discussed on a table in ArenaNet’s Offices, but it sure beats trashing their system because of a few skills that come around once every 90+ seconds. Feels like the current elite skills need to be adjusted (as the thread is made for) and the room for some others to fulfill all builds profession X can make (also what the thread is for).
Ofc number values arn’t any part really, they can be adjusted at any time. Just throwing ideas at a wall of text to see what feels right. Truth be told I want ele to be deleted but it wouldn’t be right to ignore their need for better elite skills or elite skills that are more useful that the current ones.
They aren’t tide turners. Have you ever, or will you ever be possible to ‘turn the tide’ with engineers mortar elite? Will you ever ‘turn the tide’ with elamentalists tornado?→ No.
I guess about 1 elite from efery class might be a tide turner, but that’s just … why?
Elite skills shouldn’t be situational skills. They should be skill builds resolve around. Gw1 did an excellent job at that point! Check gw1s, PvX build wiki, all great examples of builds resolving around an elite.
Guild wars 2 takes away alooot of complexcity by creating douchbag elites, making it easy for people what elite to pick and what build to get, but I’d rather see a more complex system with orbit elites!
Aaaand again! Does an unexperienced community yell and shout about something they don’t know a thing.
There has been a thread in the engineer forum about the weakspots of th HGH build, and guess what? There are plenty things we engis don’t have when rolling an HgH build (auch as zero stability options. ZERO.). but because no one plays our class you don’t know what we do or how to get us,→ go to the engineers forum and ask!
Plus have you ever seen #1 pistol damage? Even with 25 might it crits for 500 MAX.
You come at me with some real arguments, and some real engineer knowledge before you start complaining.

But the community will find new builds, and devs just might nerf those again.

Yea, turrets just suck. It has been discussed about for ages here, and I think everyone (seriously, everyone) agrees that they suck atm.

This is very true. As an engineer you just can’t to speed runs. Your just kinda useless compared to a warrior.
Ok this is pure speculation and fantasy about what I (me, moi, ich, MY opinion! Before people start kittenin..) would be epic on the Engineer! I always feel like we need a true melee option, every class has a real melee weapon set.
Closest we come is toolkit, but honestly do you ever use it for the #1 skill? No. We pull with 5, smack with the prybar and block with gear shield, and that’s it.
Don’t get me started about bomb kit. Bomb kit is NOT a melee weapon set.
A hammer would fit in lore wise. Charr engineers build tanks and other huge machinery where a big hammer is fit to clunck some steel!
Give us a real melee option! Give us hammers!
Check the picture, I believe it’s from the game torchlight 2, where the engineer class uses hammer a great deal!
I know about the bomb kit. I like it and use it often. Also there is there is the other toolkit with the pry bar and stuff.
But for the looks I would prefer a “real” weapon. At least a 1 handed hammer. (And I want for other classes like warriorrs 2h-axes!)
Hammer would fit the engineer class to hammer some nails and stuff and if there are enemies they just it against them.
You can’t call bomb kit melee damage, that’s the same thing as calling a rifle melee when standing close to the target :/.
Yes we have the toolkit, but people only use it for the #2,3,4 and 5 skill, they hardly ever use #1. I’d like to see hammer aswell! Smashing up people would be awesome!
No. I can blow people from a cliff now with Big ’Ol bomb (engi toolbelt) once blew 3 people off a cliff. Epic fun!

There are many counters to a HgH build. Such as CC. We only have one way to stability: throw elixer S. It’s on a 45s CD and is only a 50% chance we get stability. Hammer guardian kicks our kitten
From what I read here, it sounds really good. I’ve been a great fan of the engineer bunker builds, so I’m definitely going to try this on out.

I read about it, but don’t know what it is. In my 400 hours of playing I never come across something like it, my question is:

That would be really nice! I used to form up a party with random people and start a striketeam. Considering supply camps there is no problem. But towers can really be a hard nut to crack with just 5 players, whenever I ask to come and join us to kick the enemy out of a tower(politely and friendly of course
) people just don’t show up

We’ve seen many updates and many nerfs/buffs/ or whatever we call them. Many things have changed, in a bad or good way.
Now, what I want to hear from you is: how is the engineers’ current state?
Are we better off after last patch? What changes are still needed? etc.
The only thing I’d like to say about the engineers state is: turrets and gadgets, still are not worth it. And that’s too bad. All of our builds are a combination of kits and elixers. sometimes with a lonley turret/gadget wamped into it, but eventually that never works out really great. It’s a real shame. I want to use turrets and gadgets.
Anyway, tell me your honest opinion about the engineers state! Let the discussion begin!

I believe there is a sigil that has a 60 % chance of removing a bon on critical hit (sigil of nultification or something?). And I caught a bad link there.
But only the idea sounds really cool!

I always have big trouble fighting hammer guardians! The only thing I can withstand them is elixer S (mini me!) and that only lasts 3 seconds. We only got one option of stability as an engineer: throw elixer S, which only is a 50% chance.. Satbility is definitely an engineer weakspot.
And avoid getting hit by blowtorch (the small flamethrower). It’s our main damage output.
Not this again…… The GuildWars were a series of wars between Orr,Kryta and Ascalon that happened between 1013 and 1070 only ending with the Charr invasion
… Guild versus guild existed in guild wars 1 (after the charr invasion). Why can’t it be in guild wars 2 just as an PvP mode?

Auto defense bomb effect is decent but problem is its cd is waaaaay to high for a grandmaster trait. At 60 seconds I would take it, if it was an adept trait.
Exactly what penguin’s saying. It really is a nice trait, but it’s CD just spoils it for me. reducing it to 30 seconds or 45 would make it much better!

Auto defense bomb saved my kitten more then I can count. People are underestimating that ability. It just mitigate so much damage, I love it.
I use it on my confusion build.
In PvP aswell? You’ll get smacked around alot in pvp in 60 seconds. So you’ll get saved 1 time in pvp just to get killed 10 seconds later? In WvW I completely agree with you! But in PvP…
Create new char→ go to your home city→ go to LA → go to rata sum→ do sunny glades and cahs in the 2 bauble bubbles→ delete char→ create char→ etc.
More frickin armour skins! The krytan armour skin sucks. Bones and animal skull everywhere!I don’t want to look like a hunter as an engineer! Give me some cool and epic armour skins!
Ok. Why do you put in 30 points in inventions? Why? You only use 1 turret. 20 points ‘d be enough.
Auto-defense bomb dispenser is a really nice trait but it’s huge CD makes it near worthless. Don’t use it! Second, turret push back isn’t worth 10 points either. You should focus on condi damage since you’re going p/s!
I modified your build. I replaced rocket turret for thumper turret. It’s the best turret we have and it’s even a nice option when not traited for.
Toolkit is a solid option. But consider replacing it since the damage of confusion is cut in half in PvP.
Now the traits: I took 20 points out of explosions. And 10 out of inventions (with thumper turret, traiting is not nessecary).
That gives us 30 to spend on extra utility -> 10p in firearms for reduced pistol cd, 10p in alchemy for extra health and invigorating speed in combination with 10p in tools and speedy kits.

I have it on my engineers and the silly size is amazing.
Yeah I think predator looks great on engineers, but dont talk to me about my charzooka, i transmuted it to switch it to another character and accidently salvage it cause it didn’t ask “are you sure?”

How can you get 2 bauble bubbles per 10 minutes? Creating new chars every time you finished sunny glades?
This feature is a keeper anet! Imho it fits the universe perfectly! If the asura can create golems why can’t they create alternate 8-bit dimension?
Shield is definitely the best option if you want to play a support role. The #4 is a reliable blast finisher and with elixer gun it’s number 5 skill you can get area of retaliation 2 times (EG 4, and P/S 4).
Plus you get an extra (stunning) block, especially nice in dungeons and 1v1 in WvW, where the enemy will be stuned for 2 seconds after they hit you (and you block there attack
).
Ok. I’d put in just 10 points in explosions and give up enhance performance, and swap out the exploit weakness for incendiary powder (but thats just personal playstyle). put at least 10 points in tools. Speedy kits is just too dam good! It gives you perma swiftness (since your aiming for a WvW build, swiftness is a must!).
Second, you should get a superior sigil of corruption and swap out blood injection (if you really want to keep the extra condi damage, you only got it cor the extra burn damage? It’s not reallt worth it imo) for invigorating speed. It gives your build huge survavibility options, especially since you work with 2 kits.
Third: Pick sigil of battle! It makes might stacking sooo much better an easier!
