Dear Anet, pls buff my poor DnD ele. Give me a good reason to shift from 0/10/0/30/30 while still being able to survive, deal damage and be group friendly.

Hi Kenadas, most of us are now on the forum http://www.gw2wvw.net/forums/na-matchups which have even been suggested by Anet.

There arent many pure Bunker eles around.

Most pure bunkers mix cleric with soldier in the old days with boon duration runes and boon duration food.

Today the trend is to mix celestial for trinkets, knight for armor and either berserker or soldier for each dagger. Food is the standard lemongrass and stones. With runes a mix of condi negation and boon duration

The trait build used by most hybrid bunker builds today has remained pretty much the same. 0/10/0/30/30

To kill the ele, u must understand our greatest weakness is burst damage from 2 or 3 players. U wont usually kill us with one person doing just burst damage. Another aspect is to chill us because that affects our attunement recharge time greatly hence disabling our rotation cycle. Condition damage on us is a minor aspect. CCing the ele is not very useful.

Actually what left SoR were only the majority of Hardcore WvW guilds (TW, FEAR, HIRE, Choo, GC etc.) leaving the vast majority of the Rallian population intact.

That was half the picture. These are the names that are familiar and of whom , are now mostly in TC. JQ got 2 to 4 WvW focused guilds (Cant be precise). Im not sure what BG got because they were full before SoR transfers. I do believe some folks went to SoS as well. Not sure about mag and fa.

JQ does miss SoR for sure.

I have seen all sorts of commanders.

Warrior or Guardian, please, as a commander , make something large,obnoxious and loud so that we folks can target you and also see your commander pin in the midst of battle. Nothing beats “Bomb here” when a commander is tiny and drowned by a sea of enemies lol.

Interesting build. Not something i would use as a DnD ele but nonetheless its a unique build.

I actually like this idea very much. Shutting down the borderlands from between 12-6am server time on NA servers won’t really have a huge impact as many people think, and will dissuade the idea of NA commanders pulling overtime to cover that period since the oceanic player base is tiny compared to the others, and that timeslot so happens to be oceanic. I know that in BG at least, we still wouldn’t be able to queue EBG during those hours unless the stars align, and TC, JQ and SoS wouldn’t have very big queues either

Plus, with EoTM, it’s not like you can’t have some semblance of wvw experience.

If you shut down kitten T2 Maps, be it EB or any other BL , u are effectively destroying a huge community in NA who come home from a hard day at work to unwind and fight while the other side of the planet sleeps. Effectively cutting a good portion of Anets revenue stream. The OP should consider ramifications to the thousands of WvW players in t1 and t2 during that timeszone. I have seen in his sig that his from an EU server so no complains here if it is just restricted for EU servers.

To clarify my situation, my main is a lvl67 Warrior that I play with my gf (lvl67 ranger). I now have 1-3 other friends who want to play with us, all of them new to MMOs. I’ve played WoW a bit, and my gf is new as well.

So, the idea is that I’m starting an ele that I’ll be leveling from scratch with 2-4 others, in order of how often i’ll be playing with them:
Gf Necro
friend 1 ranger
friend 2 warrior
friend 3 ranger

It’s a group that could die a lot, esp since I’m the most experienced. So, I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the ele, looking at builds, looking at strategy, and just trying to educate myself on the prof. I’ve read Zelyhn’s and Neco’s guides, and I’ll read Dkey’s next. We’ll be doing PvE almost exclusively, with dungeons as appropriate. I’m trying to learn what I should be doing as far as leveling, as well as being able to help my group as best I can. Right now, that means (1) staying alive and (2) killing mobs quickly. But, I’m learning about combo fields and might stacking, so I’ll try to do more of that.

I find I have trouble memorizing all the skills, which makes it hard to know what to do on the fly. This is made especially difficult by F1-4 being hard to reach with my left hand, so I end up sitting in an attunement. I’m only lvl 5 and still unlocking weapon skills, so this isn’t a big problem yet.

With my warrior, I JUST switched to a new keybind, from default to having 6=Sh+E, 7=Sh+A, 8=Sh+S, 9=Sh+D, and 0=Sh+W, where Sh=shift. That way, I don’t even have to take my fingers off WASD to do them. I hold RClick to control camera so direction, and WASD for forward, lStrafe, reverse and rStrafe respectively. I haven’t figured out where to bind F1-F4 yet.

So, what do you guys think on what I should be doing for leveling with such a group, with respect to:
build
weapons
gear/bonuses (power and precision vs vit and toughness)
sigils/runes
key binding
anything else I should be aware of.

to OP : Folks dont realise u have to forgo many traits to attain that trait. Majority of eles are NOT built that way now. It was a FOTM for a few weeks but not anymore.

Theres also the 24/7 action and instant action in WvW in the upper Tiers which is very elusive to the casual gamer and hadcore players, both alike. Offcourse some prefer different sorts of action, and for those, i think they might take advantage of the free transfers.

Remember, free transfers to lower tiers was a request by the community. See, Anet listens

If money is not an input into decision making about transfers why does your server and others pay other people’s transfer fees?

Edit: Looked at the poll. 20% of the people who voted are transferring? That seems like a pretty big shift to me.

I dont think the top 6 servers wave money at guilds to come over. Yes BG bought Anet, but thats a different story.

I think guilds that want to come over, do come over.

The process is simple. A Scout or two from a server is sent , anonymously to see what the server offers. The big guilds send scouts to other servers as well. The info is feed backed to the GMs of the guild and a decision is made. A guild rep contacts the Top 5 guilds from the particular server and then makes arrangements to assist in any non-pecuniary means for the transfer. Once the transfer is 3/4 complete, announcements are usually made.

JQ can do blackouts to allow folks in but u need to talk to the ministers of communication. I think folks are really gearing up of an all out war in season 2. It will be a make or break situation for Anet if there is blunder.

Paying a monthly sub doesn’t guarantee a better game or that the devs will listen to you.

It doesn’t, but there’s a higher likelihood.

1) Business Model A (i.e GW2): your players have paid up-front (i.e. box sales) and little revenue is derived from them further on (i.e. in-game store). Ergo, why listen to your existing users as if you lose them, you don’t lose revenues (although your brand gets damaged eventually)? The minor ongoing revenue is also in all likelihood not enough to sustain major game development. The main focus is on penetrating new geographies, as this is the only way to generate major one-off revenue streams.

2) Business Model B: you get major revenue from box-sales at launch, followed by significant revenue streams through ongoing subscriptions. Your main costs are likely to be recouperated at launch, thereby allowing you to utilise your ongoing revenue streams for major development and frequent patches, which will create word-of-mouth and hopefully additional subscribers. The main focus is on keeping your users happy through development, potentially followed by penetrating new geographies.

I can bet which model will generate more frequent patches and more major development. I happily paid for Warhammer for more than two years and having played a “F2P” game like GW2 with virtually no investment from Anet, I’m more than happy to take my chances and pay for TESO.

Also, polls like this don’t matter. It doesn’t matter which game is “better”. It’s horses for courses, what works for some, doesn’t work for others. What is obvious though is that a significant portion of GW2 players are leaving or at breaking-point. PvP is a waste-land and WvW is getting less and less populated.

People are leaving and it doesn’t matter if they go to TESO or not, what the real question should have been is: “Will you be playing GW2 in 6 months time?”. That poll would have been quite different…

Hi all. Quick disclaimer – I’m a ‘casual’ by the standards of the community, I only play the game sporadically ( I quit for almost a year for WoW : MoP) and when I do play I tend to just dip in and out of various game modes. I understand fully that Legendaries are not for my ‘crowd’ and I don’t even go for them, nor ascended gear except the ones I can earn from Laurels.

• You do not need ascended gear to compete but when you consider buffs from nourishment/ oil/ ranks/ stone/ etc in ADDITION to armour sets , there is almost a 17% to 25% boost

• Buy WXP boosters to up your rank fast

• Note that the drop rate of ascended gear has been increased for WvW world rank chest

• Do your daily and monthlies

So, I’ve been really, really struggling to play this class.

• The Ele is the hardest class to master

So my current armour is full Berserker, though I have Knights trinkets I like to swap in for some more survivability during WvW and the recent LA events.

However, I’m just hitting this brick wall which I’ve experienced since release. That is I just can’t seem to deal damage

• Stacking might is very beneficial

So, I dug more and found out that theres this spec called ‘the bunker’, but you can guess how I felt when trying to play that.

• Most Bunker builds are now hybrid builds

Tekken-style button combination that will totally pwn everything within 20 paces.

• Combo buttons can found by googling “Combo fields Ele Gw2”

I want to actually hurt people in WvW or get credit for monsters and such in PVE.

• Hurting people? Just follow the above 2 builds.

Now I’ve already decided I’m probably going to switch to my only other 80 – my warrior – who I have none of these issues on (beginner issues? newbie issues? baddie?). She is only in yellow gear, but I’m able to have way more fun on her in both PVE and WvW surprisingly.

• Warriors are easy to play, good to play and are superior to eles in almost every area. Perhaps you should skip the ele. Being Frank here.

There’s always a spark for a final decision I guess, and for me it was being brutally murdered by a thief once again in a group-fight during WvW. I mean, I thought something might change in the year I was gone, but the murderer (im just joking! im sure she was a really nice person irl XD ) came upon me during the group fighting, hit me for half my HP, disappeared, returned, hit me again and disappeared, repeat a few times until I was ‘downed’, and then I was ‘stomped’ while 2 of my allies tried to save me ( she was in stealth while stomping! ).

• Thieves are always the cheese class. Even thieves admit they are cheesy. But the skill level is moderate to become very good in that class VS what is required for a skilled ele.

As a newbie, that didn’t really seem very fair. I decided to log on to my horribly neglected Warrior alt, and had a much more fun time instantly, packing globs of HP and armour and still seemingly able to do lots of damage.

So I guess a TLDR is: help I’ve tried berserker and bunker specs but I’m dying lots is there some kind of inbetween spec that has decent damage and survivability?! And is also relatively simple to play? LOL. Yeah, maybe I should move to make my warrior my main, I know I know! Maybe this class is just the ‘newb-trap’ cries

Addition and possible suggestion for Anet? :

I really , really wish this class had something similar to the Diablo 3 mage, in which when a monster attacks you, they get frozen for a second or two. I’d love for a thief to hit me and get frozen for 1.5 seconds or something. Maybe make it trigger on a certain amount of HP damage dealt like 25 % of total HP, which would mean everytime they hit practically, they’d get frozen snickers

• When you get frozen pop a cantrip , shocking aura is also usefull

As mentioned before the overall changes will show a decrease of -10% Crit Damage across the board. And is specifically designed for the celestial class of ascended Armour/Weaps.

Because the game is reaching 2 years of age and all the Newbie questions have been answered. Also the ele glory days are history and only a bunch of us are left

You see, the Skritt secretly steal all your loot and sell them in a secret market located under ratasum.

ESOL is good healthy competition for Anet.

If it means better content,balance and effort, i think its a win-win situation for GW2 fans.
