so you are saying that the random roll of the dice has a very significant effect on rank scores?

Because to go from 2028 to 1856 is range of 172. Is this correct?

So what we have here then is that a server may have +64 and may then have that work stripped down to -64 so say if JQ was 2100, and was meant to be 2164 it would now boe 2100 minus 64 to 2036? If this is so then winning is no longer a big deal ? I must be wrong.

Umm…to try and make a long story short:

Each server has the ratings that you see on mos.millenium. Glicko2 looks at the ratings of each server in a match and predicts what the score should be base off the rankings. Based off how the score compares to the predicted scores, it shifts the rankings values to more closely match with what would predict what actually happened. The larger the uncertainty in a server’s rankings (the Ratings Deviation), the more drastic the shift possible. Whenever a score shifts (every week for WvW), the deviation should get smaller.

That’s not 100% accurate, but it’s close enough to get the concept across. Someone feel free to chime in if I messed up horribly somewhere.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure the deviation it’s talking about it the Ratings Deviation attached to each server with Glicko2. It’s not how much the server moves, so much as how unsure the ratings are that the ratings are right. The longer WvW goes on, the smaller that value should be.

Key word here is “should”….

So if i get this right if a server drops -100 points then

(-100*0.45 + 10) = -35

And then we multiply the random real value, say -1 happened

Therefore

(-1)*(-35) = + 35 since negative times negative = positive?

That is why the classic DnD spec still works perfectly in WvW. Not sure about pvp or pve but in wvw roaming and zerging, we pwn.

Theres a guide by daphoenix or someone spelled like that. He helped alot of folk getting started with the classic DnD spec. You deal alot of damage because your power reaches to almost 4000 with might and fury gives you added crit. There is alot to discuss here. 0/10/0/30/30 has still remained viable after patch

As much as you would like the MERC move ramifications to fade quietly away, I think they’ll keep following the main individuals involved. Potentially for years and across games.

Imo, the only thing in gaming that matters in the long term is your reputation, built through your achievements and actions in game. Everything else is digital detritus.

When you take a move that splits a community, insult those that you left behind, and refuse to acknowledge that there were negative aspects to the move, people remember. Particularly, if you like sunbathing in the forum limelight and can’t keep picking at the scabs.

MERC moving to JQ was a great thing for the game. Imagine the result if we all stayed on BG.

The only animosity that is still present is from former MERC staying on BG. We on JQ have moved on and are enjoying our game.

Yeah he has changed a lot, and the comment about a “civil war” was pretty funny as its the myopic overstatement of the century as generally we just play the game with no actual rivalry. For zerg /gvg trains , spam AOEs , aoe heals, aoe dodges , e4 , e2 , a3, a2, f3,f4,f5,w3,w4,w5 and go powerful aura in arcane line. However the most powerful singlie spell is e5 plus LF when you need to bomb.

Also most DnD eles are required to go clear the side and back lines of those pesky staff eles. Yes u can run with the train but u should focus more on free casters. Remember, DnD eles can tolerate a theif attack while slaughtering the backline and if worried, just LF in the opposite direction.

As a WvW thief, staff ele’s are generally roadkill. But then, I’m playing a spec focused on killing single targets, and they’re in an AoE build. D/D ele’s, on the other hand, often kill me so fast that I don’t have time to do much but wonder why I engaged a D/D ele. Stealth is invisibility, not invulnerability. Lightning Whip don’t care; lightning whip don’t give a kitten.

In short, there’s a lot of rock/ paper/ scissors stuff with specs, not just classes.

Why do people bring up things like rock/ paper/ scissors when we all know that there are certain specs like Mesmer PU which have a winrate of over 90% in all encounters if played decently.

D/D ele is the only viable 1v1 build which deals good burst dmg if you set it up , but is still very weak against condition classes.

The DnD classic ele has major weakness, first against 2 burst thieves who know what they are doing and a condi necro that knows what his doing. Mesmers, just avoid them , stupid shatter builds are annoying.

But if u r losing to a single thief all the time it means 2 things, 1, you are fighting someone really good, second , learn how to leave a fight.

In other words for the 0/10/0/30/30 classic dnd build not much change but with the new healing changes, 30 arc is way more useful now

Actually used that trait for a couple of weeks when roaming with a small group as staffie.

Pretty good with earth signet for locking down hapless fleeing people.

Entirely unreliable on larger scale though.

Earth signet is very good now with e3 so we are talking about a near 5 second lock down. not to mention the 180 tuff buff

Yes, the committee has changed the “not buying guilds” stance because a majority of the guilds represented said go ahead. On how the committee is represented it’s been repeated many times through channels and server reset meetings. Again, there’s no secret. No high/war council, it’s just a simple committee to help the community.
