smack..Wut?…smack…smack…

Originally by the time someone hit 30 the levelling game was over. You had everything unlocked you would need with the exception of master and grandmaster. It did cause quite a few players that I knew at the time to quit shortly after hitting 30.
Instead of improving the experience from 30-80, it’s only gotten worse.
There is a reason old GW1 players were flabbergasted by the 80 levels developers ended up putting into this game. You could get to 20, very easily, by yourself and with no assistance in a few hours in GW1 (20 being that game’s level cap). Now you would go out capping elites, pvp, compete in GvG, etc. GW2’s end game content is so shallow they had to gate you reaching it. Then they gated how often you were rewarded for participating in GW2’s end game.
Yeah, gating vs enjoyable experience, you can see where the team fell over that line.

Blind is so easily removed I find it a bit useless in wvw. In PvP I have a use for it, but I use a Raven for that if I want a blind currently.
Now a Reveal vs Mesmers and Thieves work in both formats, can’t be easily removed (have to wait it out), and I would find that much, much more useful.
I could swear this thread was several weeks if not months, old. So strange.
Anyways, yes my dye collection is done. I do not have all the rare and very rare dyes, certainly not the gem store only dyes, etc. Fortunately for me I have the vast majority of colors and shades that I wouldn’t even dream of buying them with gems or laurels, and it would take a fairly significant dye to show up I would pay coin for.
I feel sorry for new players, I really do. There were some low level events I used to love to do cause I would usually get a dye or 2 fairly often.
Yeah I wouldn’t mind torch #5 having a ground targetting radial.
Not to sure about some of your suggestions like a blind.
I believe what the developers did was split a decent idea into 2 skills and that kinda gimps it as a weapon. There should be 1 skill to throw and burn a target that also sets fire to the ground. Now you have room for a useful skill to add.
Personally I wouldn’t mind the Ranger torch having a reveal skill.
Maw event…yes that level 8-10 event:
You do realize these “Leavers” are also forced to leave and join their queued match, right?
If you don’t want leavers, bad autobalance timers, spectating win-jumpers, hoppers that force an autobalance so they can join the win team, etc., then maybe oh……..tpvp?
Are you able to read at least the subject of the thread? Apparently not.
“Leavers in soloq – enough is enough.”
Obviously with your rudeness in your own thread I can clearly see where the issue of your matches lies.
You do realize these “Leavers” are also forced to leave and join their queued match, right?
If you don’t want leavers, bad autobalance timers, spectating win-jumpers, hoppers that force an autobalance so they can join the win team, etc., then maybe oh……..tpvp?
I hope someone from ANET reads this thread. Here is a screenshot of the madness that is on my minimap right now. This is ridiculous!
You’re standing in a site for guild missions…did you honestly not expect that ?
Elaborate further. Why would a guild doing a guild mission possibly need that many commander tags up?
I often see about twice the amount in that screenshot. Yes, it is ridiculous. Yes you can refuse to believe it or offer contrary statements without facts like “Oh, its a guild mission site! They need that many commander tags!”. No, you do not prove this blight needs to exist.
This is all going to depend on your environment. There are better rune options you don’t have available as a utility. In such cases it may be worth it to you if you want or need the 25% speed to suck it up as a utility and take the more useful rune set.
Having returned to the game about a month ago I thought I had read that they had changed their minds concerning the rapid content updates and were throttling back (I can’t remember the reasons, I assume quality?). Maybe I read something else and this just happened to be what I thought I was reading….
1.obvious benefit is now you can dodge over some barricade may be upper terrain.
The only reason I really use it, everything else is gravy.
2) Failed within wvw yet are successful in spvp.
How is that even possible? I have never heard of, seen or witnessed someone exclaiming this is even possible…..until now?
Settler/Celestial: BM Regen/Condi – soloQ trolling.
Works just like it does in WvW roaming. Eats face all day long. I have settler on one ranger and celestial on another, not sure if the differences really matter (yet). Maybe with the axe might stacking Celestial may pull ahead.
Much of what I see from WvW roamers in soloq is WvW hammer tank builds that just make me LOL.
Thats the company you keep, like it or not.
It’s no longer possible. All other meta events are on schedules, but that can’t be done with the temples, due to the complexity of the event chains.
I am not sure what is so “complex”. Before every server had it’s own event chain, and they could be tracked. Now with Megaservers you have like 1,2 maybe 3 map instances max.
I think it’s more of an anet didn’t get it’s data together for sharing the info.
Just because they opted to put “Mega” in the name doesn’t make it some newly created logistical nightmare, it’s still a single map instance.
For my third ranger I went out on a limb cough and made Sylvari. She’s my lil’ headbanger. (and yes, only 1 piece of cultural used, the best one of course
I know when I take my ranger out I like to bang some heads:
When I am doing a open world event on one of my rangers and I drop a healing spring it brings all the beserker’s to the yard.
I am a fan of the original first 2 years of GW1. However, 4 weapon switches is just not something I feel I need nor do I miss.
Join the squad of a commander and you won’t see any other commander tags. It already works this way. If you just don’t like to see commander tags on the map well… shrug Not much I can do to help you with there. Maybe the will put in a feature at some point that allowed you to toggle on and off viewing commander tags on PVE maps.
Though, to be fair there are plenty of places where having a commander tag in PVE is nice.
Join some random pack of vanity plate toting baddies doing some random thing I am not doing in order to remove the blight anet has put on my screen? Are you even half serious?
I don’t need your help so I don’t get why you think I do? Once the graphic option to remove them is in game, I won’t have any issue any longer. Your 100/300g, not mine.
I look forward to the graphics option to NOT display them. Thats right.
1. Display commander tags.
2. Display commander tags for my server only.
3. Display commander tags for my guild only.
4. Do not display commander tags.
Coming soon.
(in terms of solo roaming and 1v1 in WvW)
Best solo roaming class after the changes in WvW?
AND
Which class received the most buff for solo roaming in WvW? (need not make them the strongest, but made them a lot stronger than before)
FOR ME
Best solo roaming = necromancer
Reason: if built and played right, there are very few classes/builds out there that can compete. Most buffed class = ranger
Reason: their dps just got buffed insanely
Necro lacks the mobility to be the best roaming class.
Ranger got upped a notch.
Thief will still be the most popular solo roaming class.
Whenever you don’t know the weakness of a class the best method to gain insight is to play that class. You will become intimate to it’s weaknesses this way.
Here is the silliness of this….
What if the new player doesn’t die before level 5? How does he know he got some new “ability”? Silly.
Would be better to hold that huge samurai sword in one hand and the scabbard in the other, with a samurai stance.
Not gonna happen. #dreaming
Oh sure, NOW people echo my calls to add a UI option to disable the commander tags… after I buy my own because it makes perfect sense to buy one before the price triples even if I might not really use it.
I brought it up around the 3rd month after launch, just sayin. On these forums too.
It’s to late to discuss, the Fire Sale began several days ago and it has already created blight on my UI, my maps, my minimap. I watch abject “noobs” with tags doing jumping puzzles I did, on low level maps, years ago, and failing.
This was all heralded over 1.5 years ago, now it’s just so IN YOUR FACE.
If a toggle to disable them from being displayed on my CLIENT, then the developers want that blight to exist.
I mentioned before in another thread I started:
1. Only display commander tags from my server.
2. Only display commander tags from my guild.
3. Do not display commander tags.
These three options should be available in the UI settings. With none being checked it would work as is now, display all tags.
Someone mentioned World Boss fights and the lack of their mobility causing a state of boredom (Cluster here, safely, etc.). I have to agree.
Even though the Svarnir Dome event boss is very low level, and not overly cool graphically, he does move around causing peeps to move around, his major attacks are well telegraphed to be avoided, etc.
Having a near constant down state does not make a boss challenging and definetly not fun. Cheesy mechanics meant to exploit a near permanent down state are…….cheesy. Making fights hard and challenging without being boring or cheesy requires a LOT of work, I understand that, but let’s make that the goal.
Siege Weapons are like having Avatars or Heros come in to help. Why can’t world boss events be completed with the skills the game has for the classes? It cheapens the accomplishment to have to be the master of the trebuchet in order to achieve success.
I just don’t get why it can’t be added as an Asura portal from LA or something.
Think of poor newbies who can’t use downstate skills or play PS. If they happen to get through this portal they might think: Oh noooo GW2 has very bad graphics.
Maybe I am missing your point, and again I did not play SAB much, but if I recall everyone was upscaled. Also, if it is added to the game as a dungeon type of content you can gate the entry level just like other current dungeon content. Why not make it lvl 80 required, since it would be “end game” oblique fun, not part of living story, etc. The original SAB entry had warnings and acceptance button dialogue as well, similar to Fractals.
I like the idea of adding it to Rata Sum for entry, which is where I believe it was originally located.
As much as people demand SAB I seriously do not understand why it isn’t part of the game, as an offering of “something else to do” if nothing else. I am no big SAB fan, I barely did any of it, but content is content and I just don’t get why it can’t be added as an Asura portal from LA or something.
In fact, let’s elaborate/suggest further. Why not turn the old currency into SAB tokens, like other dungeon tokens. Take the old skins and just recolor them so the old skins stay unique (say purple super weapons, etc.). Now you have new, permanent content: The SAB “dungeon” experience.
I don’t understand the aversion to adding permanent content.
(edited by GOSU.9574)
“My idea is what everyone else wants too!”
“I quit the game just like everyone else!”
etc., etc., etc.,….I see these all the time and the fact is……no….no they don’t.
In the world of psychology it’s the “My reality is everyone else’s reality too!” syndrome.
These events are as close as the development team seems willing to move towards a raid environment. I am not sure what you would expect in such an environment.
How many “end game” raids of other MMOs do you go solo?
Just to clarify my position on them, I don’t care for them, they are exclusive and whenever content feels exclusive I avoid it. That includes raids from other MMOs.
@Daishi, ty for beeing the only person who picks up this idea for what it really is, a possible sollution that needs to be improved and perfected for the game that is GW2.
Thank you for not taking appropriate criticisms and instead embracing anyone that at least half agress with you.
You communicate just how opinionated you are when you can’t accept criticism.
It reflects just how dead your suggestion is received.
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
Anything beyond cheesy 1 hit down mechanics and I am all for it.
Seriously, how hard is it to repeatedly use cheesy mechanics over and over and over? How many times does Claw of Jormag need to spam fear? Really……
I vote instead of having some arbitrary system like you suggest that maybe……just maybe…..tweaks to the overpowered/overly dominate builds be made by um…….the design team?
Crazy.
I will politely disagree with your desired request.
I played GW1 from release for 2 years and went through much of the game using NPC Hirelings and Heros. They were really a bandaid.
In GW2 there really is no need for this type of machination. If you want to gain dungeon rewards without the hassle of forming a group, do soloqueue pvp and gain them from the reward track.
BTW if you are using assistance in the form of Hirelings, you are not “soloing” content. Here to say.
I think people who can’t get a decent look without using the planet armor either are refusing to try or don’t take the time to go through all the options
Maybe it is because the plant armor being specifically designed for the race is currently the best options for appearance. Maybe? Yeah….that.
I don’t see a lot of sigils of intel + celestial. Maybe it is only in the extreme upper tier or something. Usually I see sig of intel on axe swapping warriors.
Hello,
I think it’d be a good idea to have post game screen, similar to LoL for solo queue to report afk players, i’ve just gotten tired of people going afk as soon as we’re 50 points behind, there should be a way to report these players, but the closest thing is “botting” which isn’t very similar at all.
We should be able to regulate ourselves, and if players get banned they should have their names posted up so we know something was done.
Your thread title doesn’t match the post body.
Toxic != AFK
Completely different subjects.
To carry play a d/d or s/f ele really well.
You could also play a very good hambow.
These two classes are the core of the meta right now for a reason.
Wait..what?
D/D Ele – requires skill
Hambow – requires face
This would be awesome. Now I can block the PvE achievement hunters/hot join heroes.
Also I can block anyone better than me so I won’t have to face them again!
Do you see any problems with your suggestion yet?
You have valid points, however your last comment (not quoted) was unnecessary.
Not only a good question, a good suggestion. According to their desires the new loot system would be put in place for levelling. Once max level, in my opinion, it should no longer affect that character.
It won’t happen til the dragon mounts are ready.
Skyhammer obvs.
They are going to make changes for content and experience for new players. This is where the money is, it’s going to happen. Believe it or not there is a constant influx of new GW2 players. There is also an outpour of veterans who have burned out or run out of the content they enjoy (or taking a short or long break from the game). This is all part of the life of an MMO.
I don’t understand why people feel like when things they aren’t interested in gets updates or attention that “something is wrong”.
Lets see …
New PvP only armor from Tournaments and PvP track, doesn’t feel like focused towards new players.
Class balance change affects everyone.
WvW commander tag and the new Siege Golem mastery are focused more towards veteran players.
New Crafting UI and recipes affects all, but the new backpieces seems to be end level crafting, so rewarding the veterans. Most of those may not excite you, but actually few of the updates are focuses towards new players, most of the changes affect both new and veterans or just veterans.
I really don’t see what others don’t see when they say things like the post above yours. Just how much free updated material does one expect every few months? It’s not just tweaks and bug fixes, I began to believe peeps think a 2 year old MMO development team consists of a vast army of workers that should be constantly and extremely frequently pumping out new and exciting things…….well that just isn’t reality now is it?
SoloQ is absolutely random, toss in a lot of “Jump on the win team” champs from spectate, and you have a pot of YuckYuck. You know this when you queue. You know this.
So why not take the appropriate outlook? Why not do the best YOU can to have YOUR fun? Maybe your fun is eating Warrior Face all day long? I know that is one of mine, I find Hambow yummy. I don’t get into a perma 1v1 or off-point fighting, I take it to the cap point nearby.
Find your fun, do it, don’t get wrapped up in the negative aspects as they simply will never change. Unbalanced teams, low skilled team mates, overskilled opponent team, jumping jack spectators, on and on. This all can not be fixed or resolved.
Play for fun. It is a game.
tbh it was pretty OP, i’ve auto attacked warriors to death without taking a hit by using BP…
Sadly true. It’s the laziest thief combo in soloq. Blind, auto, blind, auto, toss in a few Heartseekers if you like, repeat.
And stagnation is exactly what we have right now.
Seriously….it was pointed out much earlier in this thread that simply because you don’t care to participate in content that was added does not mean nothing was added.
The only stagnation in this game is that you are stagnated doing whatever content you like to do repeatedly. This is your choice.
Personally, much of the content added has not appealed to me. I do not participate in it. Fractals, EotM, Drytop, etc. The content I would like to see added has not been nor has it been mentioned. That does not mean the game is stagnant, it simply means I limit myself to the things I find enjoyable.
There is a good chance tribal armor actually IS available all along per mystic forge recipe but no one has discovered it yet
Somehow I feel you have created this and mislead people with your asserted “hopes”.
From the point this link took me to, to the end of that thread as of this time, I failed to find any allusion that the pvp wardrobe items had any chance of being produced from the mystic forge. I just think you are overly hopeful on something that doesn’t exist.
