Relax… yes. It-s annoying the actual state of the game. But tonight we are receibing a big patch that we hope all these bugs get fixed.

People who tell others to relax amuse me, I think it makes them feel cool or something. No one is worked up, get over yourself.

From the dev lists tonight’s patch has nothing specifically detailed to deal with what I brought up.

During the first week and a half or so the patches were coming down in torrents. Servers offline several times a night. The upside was many of the bugs were being cleared out with the resets.

Right now the state of the game is horrid for levelling (early). Far to many Events are bugged up, they are “currently active” with nothing going on, no spawns, whatnot. This also impacts the spawns that normally occur in that area and in some cases are bugging up the local Renown Hearts quests by removing the normal spawns that are necessary to complete the Heart. On top of this far to many Skill Point challenges are either “currently active” with NO challenge available, or the challenge NPC doesn’t spawn at all.

Due to the lack of server resets the game is currently extremely fubared for levelling. Mob xp is FAR to low to level off of, which is as intended. Jumping servers was nerfed due to WvW exploiters, and in most cases jumping a server results in finding the same bug (this happened to me on friday, same skill point NPC missing on 2 different servers).

This really impacts the game, especially since I am finding a lot of new players that just bought this game trying to level up. It is producing a horrible gaming experience.

I haven’t read anything about tonight’s patch addressing these issues. There needs to be something put in place at least for the moment. Temporary Overflow servers that collapse and reset, something…

Totally agree with OP on the skinny nature of the human choices. The Norn get at least 1 heavier frame to choose from. Would like to see at least 1 non-barbie frame for humans as well.

About faces, human females are the WORST when it comes to baby faces. They have one face that is aged but it looks freaking 50 years old (no offense to 50 year olds, I am almost there as well). The best you can do for females to age them above 14 years old is sullen the cheeks with the editor.

Getting a similar issue. In the Mesmer forum there is a stickied thread on posting your mesmer. I select an image in the thread, then when I go back I am dumped into the thread with no content and only a reply box. Now when I go directly into the thread this is all I get, a reply box.

Using Chrome, so it’s not just a Firefox issue.

Figured my issue out. The number tabs at the top of the page have no selections when using Back. I had to select a tab (page 1 for instance).

I like all of them, some just suit me better than others.

Thief is my highest, love her. Warrior is next on my alts, followed by Mesmer, Ranger and my newest Guardian.

I can’t get into Engineers, its the whole tech thing I guess. I just deleted my second Ele, compared to GW1 Eles they just don’t seem to measure up. Probably a balance thing to do with WvW.

Just like in GW, addons are not necessary in this game. We don’t need dps meters, gtfo indicators, or any other addons that serve to dumb down a game only to have it’s users complain about how easy the game has become.

There is already this “combat” addon which I feel is completely against the ToS as it gives an advantage to those who use it. Hopefully Anet sees the light and bans it’s users.

Learn to play the game the way it was intended, without training wheels and elbow pads. Stop crutching.

The only thing I’d like is for them to open the UI up like they did with GW1.

I only played GW1 up until EotN. At that point there was a lot of element adjustment available to the player. That I would really like to see in GW2, moving elements around the screen to more optimal locations for each user, scaling each seperately, etc. Hopefully that gets done at some point in the future, until then I am fine with the way it is.

Human females need a more voluptuous figure in general. One of the “biggest” forms has the largest bust size and still looks like flippin Barbie…

At least Norn Females get a chunkier size, albeit with more bust included.

I think Anet spent the money on game choices that actually affect the game’s play.

Spending a ton of money for voice actors isn’t high on my priority list, I applaud them and bear with the poor vo’s.

I started MMOs with the release of EQ1. I know what trains are, and really the term doesn’t apply to the activity you are experiencing in GW2. That doesn’t mean having mobs dumped on you isn’t an issue, just there is rarely more than 1-2 that get dumped on you, hardly a “train”.

The issue is mobs in this game don’t need to lose aggro to change to you as target. All they need to do is find YOU as the closest target.

I believe the developers were completely aware of this behavior and didn’t just ignore it, but decided they wanted this in their game. Perhaps since WvW has mobs and they consider it a perfectly acceptable tactic to drag mobs onto an opponent.

If this behavior was not intended, it indeed needs to be changed.

Keep in mind Guild Wars is and has always been about PvP. They simply expanded on the PvE aspects of large level range and grinding because this is exactly what the majority of GW1 players said they wanted. In the end, it’s still a PvP game and thats the end game focus.

OP you are correct, getting to 30 is the biggest hurdle I found for levelling in this game. 20 and below are just grindtastic and slow, you don’t have any real trait build up, the gear and stats are negligible on game play, the dynamic events aren’t that dynamic, etc.

On my Thief I found the game got much better in the mid 30s, on my Mesmer it seemed to improve in the mid 20s (and I am sure closer to 40 will be even better).

The thing I started doing differently on new alts is this: I stopped skipping around capping skill points. This was tremendously slowing me down for levelling. I try and do any hearts I find interesting, especially if it gets me armor or weapons I feel I need or I love the look of.

Aside from that change, I make sure to get any vista or point of interest (and wayponits) that aren’t out of the way or a major time sink. I join in any dynamic events along my path that I run into. There are a few I stick around for.

I skip or avoid anything I feel slows me down or is uninteresting or the results are unappealing.

With the above I feel I am levelling as fast as possible.

I have a 6870 and same results as cyflip. My cpu is i5-2400. Nothing is OCed and I run max settings everything. Due to the distance I sit from my display, I only run in 1366×7xx (forget the exact). My FPS is typically 60, though it may drop to 50 momentarily in high activity, not typical.

I never pay for anything beyond a basic game. In every case the one’s that do come out with stories of regret.

How can you be crippled in the elementalist’s downed state skill mist form? This defies all logic…

This was bugged early on but we had plenty of overflow servers to switch to in order to get the skill point. I am guessing it was never fixed beyond server resets.

Many of the NPC bugs get cleared on server reset and I believe many of those are not being addressed for the bugs since they simply go away on reset. However, obviously, they return if not properly fixed.

Only bringing this up to point out someone needs to be looking at these bugs as something beyond server related.

This bug occurs when you are in the riddle area when the event begins. Logging out and back in fixes it.

Needs patched.

Been playing MMOs since 2 months after EQ1s release. This is the first MMO that just satisfies so many things. I haven’t been into raiding and large scale PvE endeavors since EQ1 cause frankly I burned out on all that and the drama it can bring.

There are issues with this game but I haven’t seen any that won’t be cleared out going forward. I enjoy this game very much, even more than I did GW1 (I really didn’t like the Mission system).

All in all it’s a masterpiece with new and innovative ideas that should be copied, emulated and embellished by future MMOs.

The skinny on levelling a Mesmer and the issues:

All cloth is much slower to grind while levelling than the non-cloth, period. Ele is just as slow. My Thief levelled so much faster than any other character I have, even my Warrior. The Thief burst dps is crazy but they are melee and squishier than Warrior or Guardian.

Melee level faster than cloth. Thats it in a nutshell. What does Anet do about that without skewing balance in other areas? I can’t really say….

Yet your post makes me feel you haven’t played other classes which decimate a Mesmer’s take down power in PvE. Perhaps you are coming at it from a level 80 point of view? I can’t say.

Could have something like that appear when another player uses Report, appearing at the reported players location. It asks players at that location a random question (from a short pool) with the answer given in the question’s text. If, within a short window (but long enough in case the player is fighting, say 3 minutes) the player(s) don’t respond, it goes aggro.

There is no need to grind gear while levelling. While levelling at least up until 60 I bought player made and other masterwork gear off the TP every 10 levels. Some times vendors had upgrades either from karma or coin. Weapons I bought whenever I felt my damage was falling behind, which is usually more often than every 10 levels, but not that frequent. I don’t see any “grind for gear” issue.

Now for level 80 “vanity” gear, thats part of the PvE end game. Remove that and there will be more complaints about lack of PvE end game in a PvP game.

Not a bad suggestion, but would be better placed in the suggestions forum.

I believe there may be a make-up option coming, via cash shop.

The minimums for this game to actually run decent are 2+ year old technology. I hardly see an issue there. We can’t all stick with 486s running games now can we?

Most things have been covered by others, not needing a dedicated sound card, way to much p/s. However I have to ask…

If you aren’t going to OC why the heck do you need a 3rd party cooler? Just make sure your case has enough fan power and your mobo has enough connections for the fans.

I recently built my comp and like you I was way out of the loop as my most recent experience was also from the 90s. I also copied a comp list, but I just used that to help research. Since I was mainly shopping from Newegg I used their forums and user base to help with questions like you have here.

Another thing…if you watch videos and I assume like most people you will have music and photos at some point, you only have an SSD for your drive unless I overlooked something? Might want to get a decent HD for large file storage as a seperate drive. Just a thought.

They removed the revive symbol from Pets, not sure how difficult it would be to implement that and not have issues with pvp.

I have to say, though, the levelling curve is steeper early and eases up in the mid levels. I am not sure why Anet went this route, generally you want it quicker early with an exponential xp climb to the end.

Even if you do everything in a map, it’s much slower to go from 10-20 than 50-60. The climb from 50-60 felt about right, a bit slow but steady and constant. 10-20 is just a pita, for me it didn’t really start to clear up until some time in the mid 30s. By the 40s it was clicking and improving slightly.

If you dye your armor in game, is it not dyed at the login screen? Hate to bring logic in here to deflect the amount of trolling.

Evidently dropping sound quality to 50% is solving this for some. I dropped mine to 50% but haven’t been in enough large events to quantitatively say it resolved my issue.

In any event that doesn’t resolve the bug, just user’s issue with having to deal with it.

I played GW1 2 years, but the last few months weren’t as enjoyable due to all the nerfs to solo farming (in the end you have PvP and farming to buy spiffy looking armor, thats it).

Having Helms/Masks or shoulder items disabled for viewing on the hero panel should also be invisible at log in screens….

Not a bug per se but also not simply a “suggestion” so posting here in Bugs for lack of a better forum.

Many of the heart quests involve kill mobs that are either out of range or have very few in range and the rest are out of range in order to obtain completion.

This is a world wide issue, as it involves many maps. In particular Kessex Hills is very bad. The Centaurs for Aid Fort Salma have 2-3 in range, the rest are out of range and this creates an issue of timeliness to complete. Dragging them into range can work but it takes effort and they often reset and heal up.

Mounts never had a place in Guild Wars. The content comes in smaller packages and the game has waypoints, a vastly superior form of travel.

Now if you want mount heads on sticks to “giddy up” around town in your town clothes, go for it.

Even though I don’t have a firm stance on the anti-farming code, I will say infracting the poster for asking legitimate questions is very disheartening and disappointing.

I think he has valid questions even if I don’t have an strong opinion on them.

When deleting (or moving to forum Trashcan) a post and leaving a PM for the poster to post more constructively or whatnot, please at least addend the evidently offending post so the poster knows what you are referring too. I post a few posts a day and I have no idea what post was recently removed or how it offended or if perhaps it was unintentionally flagged?

Otherwise the process is wasted.

How to level 101!

That pretty much nails it. Also I do/did other maps in the same level range.

The lower levels are miserable. Once you get into the 30s and especially 40s the pace picks up a bit. Later the DEs that rapidly spawn make levelling so much better.

I don’t know what to do about the lower levels but in my mind it does need some attention. It was okay during the pre-release and first week when so many players were in those areas that DEs spawned frequently, but even then levelling was still slower than the mid-levels.

I have to agree with OP, bugged npcs like skill point challenges and the like can persist for days. However an easier solution, I am guessing, is to always have an overflow server. This way whenever we enter the game we always enter it and have the option to join main server when it is available. Overflow servers reset often enough to clear out the bugged npcs typically.

Due to bots undercutting the economy I don’t see why anyone would sell gems or the cards for in game money. With that I can’t see how the cards real world cost can ever be “over priced”. The price, in my opinion, would always be stable.

Maybe you meant purely real world price. If so since they are priced by region their real world value would always be stable.

Ahh its actually in the FAQ on gems, they will have Gem Cards “in the future”. I suppose EU got the cards first.

Just gonna chime in here, I completely agree with how GW2 is handling trading. If you got something to sell, put it on the TP, period.

This avoids so much of the scamming issues, it doesn’t require gazillions of hours making a P2P trade system that is scam proof, it avoids much of the scam issues that can bog down personnel, etc.

Just change the kit to a Water Jet.

Very nice to see any official response on these forums concerning things like this. Might I also recommend lowering the volume on some voices, they just come out of no where and are rather startling (NPC voices while doing heart quests, just out of no where).
