Uh…hello cripples and such? Not enough time for me to list your options, figure them out.
Or default to doing what warriors in GW1 did, curse them and call them babies for not standing there and fighting.

Anything that changed that isn’t in the patch notes should be considered a bug and posted in the bug forums. There, you might get a response. Here, luck blows in the wind.

The Necro trait requires you to be in combat for it to activate, caltrops on dodge works out of combat however.
Putting it here for completeness, tested trickery trait 3 (caltrops) on thief and it does put you in combat* when caltrops apply effects on enemies.
Forgot necro dodge trait only triggered in combat.

(edited by GOSU.9574)
Did this fix apply to on dodge effects that also put effects on enemies? I left the game for about 6 months and before that I recall the necro trait that placed marks on dodge and the thief trait that dropped caltrops on dodge put you in combat when an enemy triggered their effects. When I returned to the game they apparently no longer did this.
It’s not so easy to test in-game since most of the time I am in combat when they are used.

This is achieved by utilizing D/D and using Cloak in Shadows right as the stealth wears off to achieve semi-perma stealth.
Can you expand on what you are saying here? Utilizing D/D exactly how do you mean, and this “Cloak in Shadows”?
Do you mean Cloak and Dagger? Do you mean Hide in Shadows? Are you talking about a trait?

These 2 are very different play styles in almost any environment. Basically you need to decide what play style you will prefer.
If you plan to do dungeons and other content with a guild or friends, ask them for suggestions on what they feel would be best to support that activity.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Alright, troll mode disabled.
Dungeons will earn you gold, tokens for gear. Save the money you would be spending on Exotic lvl 80 and instead get your exotic 80 gear via dungeons. Pro Tip: Until you do this, buy level 78 exotic for your temporary level 80 set. It’s barely more expensive than level 80 rares and has better stats. It’s also dropped and cheap , with a few exceptions (the items with overpriced Runes like the heavy helm has a Divinity).
If you can’t be bothered to do dungeons, when buying level 80 exotics, by the named sets if the stats are the same as what you need. Generally the named sets will save you 1-2g per piece.
Don’t bother with going out of your way to farm nodes. Do events that reward chests and daily bonus chests. Salvage anything you don’t need that doesn’t sell for much. The materials and ectos you get you can sell for the gold you need. Farm nodes as you move along.

Like all things recently, it was decided gear was being obtained faster than desired. To this end Karma was nerfed to slow down access to Legendarys. Time gating was brought in to control the access rate to ascended weapons (and soon, armor). Obviously as has been stated by official sources Exotics were obtained much quicker than desired.

I don’t do dungeons any more so no idea if peeps will say you are slowing them down, but in other areas of the game like open world and wvw, a power build meant to support is quite fine. You won’t be seeing huge crits, but you can still push out adequate damage.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Guardian is more forgiving than Warrior, but either are best suited for casual play across all avenues of GW2 gaming.
Due to limited amount of skills, all classes can become boring at times. When this happens consider trying other weapons and builds for a while.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I don’t get the point of the thread.
The game is what it is. If you have constructive criticisms to make, make them.
Otherwise you aren’t discussing this game, which I believe is what the forums is for. Saying you wished this game was more like this or that isn’t very constructive.
I will add this, back when I watched those class/skill videos I was under the impression they were actually gonna have a slanted camera view in-game. I would have NOT liked that at all. Also, when I see a game trailer, I never expect the in-game play to in any way be reflective of…a trailer.

In the real world you don’t go to a bank or a shopping mall or a library and have to endure a rugby scrum breaking out.
Welcome to 2013 and the internet, where anti-socialism breeds.
No, you may instead go to a bank or shopping mall or library and have a mass shooting break out.

Why is it that players insist on triggering noisy and/or screen shaking powers or conduct the various activities like the costume brawl or ringing their bell or simply running through crowds of players gathered at a vendor, bank, TP or MF? I can understand with the brawl needing other players to participate but why right on top of one these areas if not to be annoying prats about it. Why swing your hammer and thump the screen continuously in the middle of one of these groups?
In terms of griefing it’s minor but in terms of annoying it’s right up there with fingernails on a chalkboard. They are seriously damaging my calm!
I titled the post this way because it reminds me when little kids decide the best time to be noisy and chaotic right on top of you is when you’re on the phone for instance.
I am sorta there with you in how I react to it BUT….I let it slide. Know why?
Kids play video games!
Go figure.

Sir Koroshi really popularized this for me, I don’t think he plays much if at all currently, but to watch him roam in action was poetry.
I checked his twitch and youtube channels but he doesn’t have any of his good footage, but I found this, which is more of a survival vs zerg video:

I find it an annoying detail that for over a year has not been addressed.

In most MMOs (at least since WoW) Warrior types and Paladin types have always been popular. They are typically either the easiest to play or the most forgiving. They tend to have big numbers for those who watch their damage.
In GW2 Melee get the BIG numbers.
It’s all about crowd pleasing.

You can’t sell it after you equip it either…. sheesh
You miss the point entirely, simply trying to be the smart guy in the room.
The fact you can SELL a legendary but you can’t use it on other toons is ridiculous.
Seriously.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
You can sell a legendary, but you can’t pass one to another toon after you have equipped it.
The game is full of conundrums.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
i tried Tera and apart from being pretty it looked like a manequin – fancy clothes on the outside, stale plastic on the inside.
This has to be the best description of a typical MMO these days.
Lipstick on a pig, another fitting analogy.
The problem is those who do not remember the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat it. Unfortunately after watching some dev videos I can see why the issues continue in this genre. While these companies hire YOUNG devs cause they want the same like minds that would play the game to develop it, they also throw out the experience of the older devs that have been there and done that and learned.
There is another MMO I have hopes for, it retains some of the original people from it’s original team…from 1999 launch. While it’s good to have young blood, it’s also good to temper it with experience.
Sadly I don’t think many of the original team from GW1 were on hand as the launch for GW2 came around. Thus we ended up getting a gear tread mill added, along with other sellouts on “the vision” that was sold.

The game must be in pretty good shape if people complain about stuff like this.
Or it could be because its some of the last bit of fun gone?
Unneccesary change.
Ps. GOSU, was removed from all other classes too, also unneccessary
The obvious point was, warriors are in such a good place they have nothing else to complain about.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
While you could level a guardian or ele to 80, why?
You have a warrior, I would suggest simply work with that. You may find WvW not as great as you hoped and save yourself hours and hours of levelling something else. Unless you simply want a new toon.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I think this is the only thing warriors can complain about.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Warrior, guardian, maybe…just maybe…mesmer.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
He means to say that the chaos storm created by the trait crits for over 50k per second aoe. And thats just tPvP!
Must be hilarious if it does this in wvw. If anyone has a video I would enjoy a link.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Do not bother worrying about PvP. Just leave 1 character slot open, make whatever you want whenever you want to PvP.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
6) I will not be rolling a Warrior but instead I shall go to WvW tonight as my Guardian and take out my frustration on every other class until I am satisfied or Anet do something that I can be proud of though something tells me I’m more likely to kill the entire Server 300 times over before the later happens.
If you are successful it will only lead to more ner…I mean improvements.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
The entire point to levelling is simply to get to 80. You don’t need to be rocking the most elite killing weapons at 30, you need to manage surviving with killing. I levelled with Staff, then did some d/d, then scepter/focus and back to staff near end for event levelling with masses. This is all old, things have changed so much, now unless you are doing a champ farm zerg there isn’t much for event farming.
Personally I found staff the safest even if not the OMGdamage.

If this was the simple answer the characters in this game would be naked.

ENGINEER GRENADE KIT NUMBER 1 SKILL GIVEN AUTOATTACK.
Please, please do this. It is the only thing stopping me from playing an Engineer.
How can they give an ground targeted aoe autoattack?
You are aware underwater it auto-attacks, yes? So the same way it works underwater, the AoE is centered on the target.

By gear with it in there and use black lion salvage kit on the gear, you get exotic mats and runes this way and the gear is normally atelast 1-2g cheaper than ordering the runes.
You will rarely save 10silver doing this and run the risk of not getting the rune.
Most peeps price the gear barely cheaper than the rune itself.
Black lion salvage kits guarantee you get the sigil fyi. But I just bought my set straight gold.(Got em when they were cheaper though)
So you recommend peeps buy their runes with gold and gems, got it.

For a very long time I did not do this games instances. For a very short time I did, just for cosmetic gear pieces I wanted. Since that short spurt, I haven’t done an instance for over 6 months. Why?
They are uninteresting. Dodge-athons, bang-on-meatbag-athons, down-athons, revive-athons. During the period I did them they were also glitch-athons, bug-athons, avoid-athons.
Why am I even bothering to post?
Anet just doesn’t seem to get it. When I ran the instances and those peeps who would reply when I asked why they did them would say “They are fun!” and I would ask “fun exactly how?” pointing out the dodge-athons, bang-on-meatbag-athons, and they would inveritably reply “cause I run past X” “cause I glitch out Y” “cause I bug out Z”.
Yeah. Leaving this post so perhaps the future dungeon design team at least reads it. While I am no WoW fan, the dungeons were far more entertaining (aside from Occulus).
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I am getting a bit tired of these posts as they come off to me as trolling attempts to get things removed they don’t care to participate in. But instead of eating an infraction by calling a troll post a troll post, I will instead lend you some insight.
Do you have any idea how underused these low level maps are when there is no content there for higher level characters to utilize? The maps are DEAD. The people who complain about champ farms are the same who complain about how dead maps are, when there is no content for higher level characters to return to that map for.
Now, with the champ thing going on, you have a choice of methods to level your character. You can LEVEL your character via the champ train, or do the whole heart/discovery thing if you are truely new to the game.
Do you know what happens to truely new players that take on the Troll champ? They faceroll die in 2-3 seconds.
Nuff said.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…

I have levelled 13 toons to 80, deleted 3 so I could make new ones, so 10 total. I consider that middle of the road for altoholics.
I too used to run dungeons across multiple alts. RIP.
The only thing for alts, for me, is some world events main chests are character restricted to once per day. If I want to do that event multiple times for the main chest, I can.
That lost it’s luster after a few days.

smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I thought the GW1 joke was GW2.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
At the same time though, guardians can have a truckload of condition removal. It all really just depends.
This is where Theory gets trumped. Condition removal is typically not on a fast CD while condition application is typically every attack (the general load of conditions that is).
Not trying to build the “Ha, I counter your counter with a counter” argument, just pointing out while it sounds good, going into WvW with a low vitality pool is generally not good unless you are a 1hit wonder build.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I agree OP, the GW1 player base that came to GW2 on the promise of no grind, no tread mill, horizontal progression, etc., got the old bait and switch. Sadly this isn’t the same ORIGINAL developer group that created GW1, they just took the name, location names, skill names, and threw that against a totally different game in almost every aspect. So different they decided gear tread mill and only verticle progression would lure in the WoW crowd. Well it didn’t and will never.
This game is now totally based in power creep and grind.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
If you have higher toughness and lower vitality, then your heals are healing a larger portion of your health pool, which is getting reduced at a slower rate because of your higher toughness.
This is misleading.
You health is reduced slower if you have higher toughness only in situations where you are facing Power damage. You vitality loss is not slowed by having higher toughness if the damage source is conditions. Also condi that reducing healing is more of a bane to low vitality Guardians.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
balance is king.
Unless you are running a 1hit wonder zerker while roaming wvw, I would go with balanced as well. Depends on class/build, but having a mix that includes toughness and vitality, for me, is good.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I’m sure there will be horizontal progression, but first we need to grind vertically. Adding gear with new stats is much easier than adding new skills.
And this is why Power Creep is unfortunately in EVERY MMO. Anet said it wouldn’t be in their premier MMO, but sadly they have proven to be no better than any other MMO company.
Add a few numbers on top of existing numbers, tweak encounters to have MOAR health and toughness, voila! New content.
Next.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Really? Don’t recall halloween skins for axe, longbow, etc.
Some of last year’s skins, like the Staff, are high value on TP, I can’t see Anet bringing back the same skins and damaging their market value.
