smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
(edited by GOSU.9574)
I think the plan is to fix it after the sword root fix. By that time I will have been gone from this game for probably 3 years.
It’s weird because it only affects some users. My pets have remained having the same names for almost a year.
That is because you are not changing pets, not talking about the pet swap F4. Lets say you have a Bear and a Jaguar, but you want a Pig and a Spider. When you change these pets the new swaps have names of Juvenile xxxx. If you change back to Bear and Jaguar they too will now be Juvenile Bear and Juvenile Jaguar.

Oh the drama.
People who play the Thief class will not quit playing it simply due to some changes. They will adapt and continue.
Don’t go to Blackgate, it is absolutely not what you want. Extremely long queue times, always dominating. Rather boring.
The true meaning of the word “SKILL” in MMOs of this type: The knowledge of when to do what.
To many people like to think button mashing equates to “skill”. They like to think that some sort of “rotation” equates to skill. We all know, or should know, there is no rotation in GW2. Knowing when to use what skill at what moment or when to loop back and draw the enemy to you like a wounded animal then pounce, when to run away and when to stay and fight, these are the "SKILL"s for modern MMOs. There is no button press sequence to top DPS as “SKILL”.
Beastmaster bunker with cleric or apothecary gear with corresponding weapon sets , or trapper . Trapper is actually quite good vs thieves due to trap activation showing where they are .
Sadly even with this set up the stealth spamming regen thief wins unless he is bad. Your best bet is Dive.
Dive in water. Win. Thieves lose to much when in water, while ranger gets boosted.
Rock is strongest. It absolutely demolishes scissors.
and yet there are no nerfs to Rock in the Dec. 10th proposed changes. I just don’t get it.
Next game I am considering playing your toon can switch to any other class. Now that is “alt friendly”. If a single toon can have all classes and all skill crafting available, thats the game for me.
It’s a toss up skill for the very reasons mentioned. I like it, when I roll with a large group in WvW, but I play a cleric set and have good survival. If you don’t like the skill don’t take it. I was once informed by a guild leader of a guild I was in not to take it as the drawbacks can be too harsh.
It’s just a toss up skill. To improve it I feel would be to totally change it. Is that something anet should do? Doesn’t matter to me, so maybe a good discussion on what to do with it might merit official thoughts.
In GW1 you could spectate 8v8 and guild wars (imagine, a guild wars game with actual guild wars…) but they had a time delay (was put in later) to counter “spying” uses.
However, even given that, spectating WvW would be rather boring.
Top 25 players? Looking at NA leaderboards I instantly see 3 Engies – Steamhawke (#5), Woodstock (#10), and Jin (#19).
Well I wasn’t gonna name drop but since you already did…
Woodstock is incredible. His muscle memory, map knowledge and general engi knowledge amazes me to the point I am embarrassed when I play my engi. I don’t recall the others but I do recall another engi that was also incredible. Will have to check out these two (Steamhawke and Jin).
Make your own group, preferably with friends or acquaintances that aren’t elitist jerks.
Profit.
Yea 2500g is ok but 2700g is not ok . Why keep rising it ? It’s ridiculous , its going to be 4000g in a month then .
It keeps getting “raised” due to supply and demand, as has been pointed out. Basic economics. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, that simple.
I would have a hammer for zerg busting, the GS/Sword+WH is great for mobility outside of a fight. Also I don’t see Cleric weapons without more Healing Power stats being worth the other stat loss. Just use Zerker or if you want more meat, PVT. You won’t kill much but you can be annoying.
Mango Pie!
The issue is with you being “hosted” to someone else’s server while doing a dungeon with players from other servers.
Discovered these types of issues many months ago when a friend would do guild missions with a guild on another server. We could not send item links and I noticed she was not displayed as online in my friends list.
Some of the best players I have ever spectated in PvP play engineers. It takes a much higher degree of muscle memory and skill utilization along with knowing what to do in a specific situation in a pinch. Engi can’t be facerolled and still be successful, my opinion.
It’s a legitimate issue. The issue is the stacking. While we may have 3 utilities, do they all need to be dedicated to condi cleanse? Not all classes are gifted with that many condi cleanse.
I do like the piling on vs. OP, it shows where the forum meta is.
New content is viewed as “productive”. Fixing old content and issues is viewed as poor original work. Thus new content will always trump fixes/cleanups/polish.
I have the opposite results from most of you. I can take out warriors with relative ease, even “Good players”. However my bane is experienced stealth spamming regen thieves. If I can’t get them in water I have began to just avoid them.
This is a bit offensive. This armor (if my research serves me well) is the same as Heritage Armor, which I get at my hall of monuments.
So I played the kitten out of GW1 and my reward is then given to every noob who buys the game new. Dissapointing.
First off you must play a necromancer, skilled at thread necromancy to be sure.
Second, HoM reward armor is NOT what they get. If there was any other means to gaining HoM armor I would have it. However I stopped playing GW1 just before EotN was released and I don’t care to play that game just to get some rewards in this game.
Ever heard anyone in PvE say : “What we could really use now is an Engineer?”
Until that happens, Mesmer will be the more desired class, if only these two are being compared across multiple game formats.
Engineer and Ranger are in the same boat when it comes to desirability.
Yeah but, I never hear any of these either………
“What we could really use now is an thief?”
“What we could really use now is an ranger?”
“What we could really use now is an elementalist?”
“What we could really use now is an necromancer?”
“What we could really use now is an warrior?”It just is what it is, mesmers and guardians simply have some extremely handy utility in a select few skills. Nothing you cannot live without, but extremely handy indeed
Then you should play GW2, cause I have heard most of these numerous times, including Thief. Go figure. I also have heard “What we could use are rangers”, obviously you must be playing D3?
Leave a slot open on your character list, that is your pvp slot. You can play any class at any time, there is no need to strangulate yourself to locking in on levelling to 80 just to pvp on any class.
For PvE/WvW the matter of choice is more about you what like to play, what you like to accomplish, what tolerances you have to “death”. Even if you play solo you can float: be a solo roamer, a small group roamer team, or join the zerg. All while unpartied if you wish. This is how I WvW, so I can afk when I want, exit game when I want, etc. I don’t feel compelled to continue to play on just because I might “let others down”.
Any class can be a floater, soloer, roamer. Quick over view on WvW:
Mesmer: isn’t the fastest class on the battlefield, no perma 25% speed unless you get runes for that. It’s a personal play style class, it requires a bit more skill than the most basic faceroll possible classes.
Thief: Great soloer, has uses in small group and roaming bands, lacks on Zerg potential unless you play it as a sweep the back line ganker, which is really a soloer in reality.
Ranger: Can run with zerg, bow ranger doesn’t have the greatest survivability unless in the back line. Bunker rangers can solo, roam, float.
Engineer: High skill level required to pull off effectively when solo or small group roam/float.
Necromancer: Can do everything but lacks in mobility. Fairly strong class.
Elementalist: Can do everything, zerg, solo, roam, float. Tends to be squishier than some other choices.
Guardian: Can do everything, wanted by any group.
Warrior: Can be facerolled. Can do virtually everything this game has available. Most balanced/strong class in most people’s opinions.
The above is just my comments, others may disagree or provide more clairty.
Jon Peters plays a signet warrior.
i fail to see any point behind that statement other then “it’s a dev conspiracy”
I play a tanker ranger, wanna know whats the difference between me and Jon?
He gets paid to play this game, i don’t. The profession you play doesn’t make you any more or less awesome. And signet warriors would waste their time with this rune set. Too little gained compared to what you can get instead.
The difference between using these runes on a ranger and using them on a warrior is vast. Signet CD trait for warrior is very common for signet builds..nuff said.
Look at it like this we have rune sets in spvp that show up in pve but we also have rune sets that are in pve but do not show up in spvp. What this means is that these runes are not set up like the runes in spvp. You can say the same thing armor types sigles food etc.. Its cool you have that type of build and its ok that you run it in wvw and or GvG its just you will need to take your wins there not as serous as say in more of an Spvp setting.
I am not sure what you are trying to communicate but it comes off in an elitist tone. There are stat sets in pvp that don’t exist in pve, such as Barbarian.
In WvW yes, they have food and runes you don’t have in spvp, but they also compete against other players with runes and food you don’t have in pvp. Let’s keep the scope of things were they belong and stop trying to cross-compare.
Only recently did I experience this and it only happens on my warrior (and only ONE of my 2 warriors). It seems to have nothing to do with combat, it is just random. Became so annoying I stopped gathering with that toon.
They should make it exclusive like an instance and have a small gem fee for a guild to enter, like a weekly fee to “rent” the instance. A proper GvG area, would be even nicer if it had some objectives that would be optional buffs/debuffs when taken.
Ever heard anyone in PvE say : “What we could really use now is an Engineer?”
Until that happens, Mesmer will be the more desired class, if only these two are being compared across multiple game formats.
Engineer and Ranger are in the same boat when it comes to desirability.
Moaners will moan before they actually know what they are moaning about.
Fierce forum warrior! Maybe you like grinding fractals but not everyone does.
The runes of resistance sound pretty powerful to me.
I bet you can buy them for gold ;-)
Like all the other unique fractal items…no…wait..?
Gonna ask in this thread instead of starting a new one, since it’s in the same topic range.
What do you consider the best overall armor set for running with a large group/zerg? I recently tried Apothecary, but unlike the bunker ranger that has constant regen and a pet doing the majority of damage while you put out condi, it just didn’t seem worth the gold.
I am seeing mention of PVT but I would think Dire would be a more optimum choice if using condi, unless you are might stacking all the time. Any thoughts?
Is anyone even surprised at this point? All the temporary content pushing bug fixes off the todo list.
Bug fixes were on a todo list?
Sword/Shield+GS. Sword 2 with leg specialist roots, switch to GS hundred blades. GS 4 when hb is available again, etc., etc.
I wouldn’t be running GS in a zerg though.
Just to chime in, I tried full settler’s s/s+LB in a condi build, I was not impressed with settler’s. I recommend you try something else, as of yet I just shelved my warrior to concentrate on other toons.
The more you play the better you become. I will add that you just have to find the right class/build that suits you and the environment.
Until today I was hard attached to my bunker ranger. It was about the only thing I could play well in WvW. Now I have found a Guardian build that suits me and works well. However to find these nuggest I go through periods with other classes and builds that I see peeps play in videos and I just lose. These class/build combos are just not for me.
hardest being a good thief
Good thieves that stealth spam are my bane. I recently found a solution. I dive. They follow. I win.
You shouldn’t be changing skins so often that this is a problem.
I also hit my 5k achiev chest last night, aside from the money and other goodies thats 400 gems (10 transmute stones with 40gems left over) and I got a makeover kit. It doesn’t happen often enough, but that will do me for quite some time.
Like the title says, I recently began material gathering again and noticed, apparently at random, a node will give Ruined when I have the proper tools. Using Mithril tools to gather Iron/Platinum and the same level wood. This didn’t used to happen months ago when I was farming materials.
Fire elemental powder is far better than the ogre whistle.
The guy was talking more along the lines of Ranger Pets. A fire elemental, no matter how much better, is hardly a Ranger type pet.
How much Karma can you get doing FOTM?
I’m at level 50, have never paid attention to Karma.
Just gonna try and answer the Q, but since I don’t do fractals I don’t have figures. From other posts, you do a fractal 10(?) levels below an odd number fractal. I don’t recall the details, it’s been posted. Hopefully someone that has the details will comment.
Ogre Pet Whistle.
at just over 1g per piece you can buy zerker exotics for level 78. They are better than level 80 rares. Avoid the pieces with pricey runes (Like traveler’s).
Just checked. Level 78 exotic is Berserker’s Pit Fighter. The legs are just over 3g due to dolyak runes. However you can always use a black lion salvage kit to get that rune out once you have an upgrade and sell the rune to recoup the cost.
I don’t recommend wasting karma on temple gear if you are running zerker, none of the stats are worth it.
Two weeks ago I was in the same boat. Choben’s chest (PVT) and I don’t care for PVT gear since I don’t wvw zerg. Finally decided to take longbow for my ranger since from time to time I do a tower defense.
Of the classes you listed Engi and Ranger are probably the better choices, but I don’t see many using Shaman. The bunker builds for both tend to use Apothecary.
For zerging and soloing, the best professions with the most likelihood of having a good “hybrid” setup that works are engineer, ranger and warrior. They got decent zerg AOE/melee damage, and great survivability in duels/1vX
And the difference of those 3 is engi solo takes mad skills unless you face trash competition.
This isn’t the thread I thought this topic would be discussing
I am not sure how they could allow you to sell from outside the game interface since that would entail inventory and bank access on some level. However I can’t see why Money isn’t an easily trackable item on your account and the potential to buy off the in-game market be done with an out of game app.
I think the issue lies with you just don’t feel like you are contributing when in actuality you are.
That’s probably the case.
Just wondering though, would something like this condi Thief Duel Pistol Unload + SB work well? It looks pretty darn fun considering the amount of conditions you can stack on a target.
That is a perplexity thief. The main goal of a perplexity thief is to interrupt, the conditions are secondary outside of confusion. Perplexity thieves work best in small skirmishes or solo. If anyone knows different about that I would be keen to hear your vZerg results.
The game has had shallow end-game since release. You can stick around but in the end it is always more of the same. Either you deal with the content and temp content or you don’t, that is all there is to it. I continue to pick at this game simply because there is nothing else out there I haven’t already burned out on or that has any interest for me. I had hopes for EQ, but I am getting doubts with recent discussions going on there.
It seems that this build is meant to be played by NA mesmers. After seeing some videos and builds, I see NA servers play WvW in a very different way than EU do.
While this build may work on small teams (5-15 people), it will be absolutely a mess when commanding and facing big zergs (+30 people), the most common thing in EU.
In such numbers, your health drops in a second and you need to be tankier. Also, the commander should be always the last to die, that’s why almost all commanders in blobs are guards and warriors.
So the biggest problems are:
- Absolutely no defense against conditions. Very low health, no Lemongrass and no Melandru runes.
- Your objective is to command, not to deal damage. Focus on defensive stats.Looking at 10th dicember patch, I’ve been working on a mantra/glamour build as a pug/raid mesmer. But I think mantras suits better for a commander than a pug, so I designed this build, a commander version of the one I’m testing.
- High survivability. 2800 armor, 26500 base health with defense against guards buff, -65% condition duration, extra 600 toughness while casting mantras, healing through kills, access to 6s of stability, nearly perma vigor and F4 invulnerability.
- Normal DPS: 2488 base power with sigil stacks and +15% phantasm damage.
- Active support by stability to your party, Veil, Null Field and Time Warp.
You are comparing what you see in posted videos of WvW on NA servers, where I don’t think many post zvz videos, for a good reason, to what you see live on EU servers (Zerg balls). If you think NA servers are chock full of roaming squads and not many zergs, you POV is skewed.
People post videos of their exploits. Watch the EU videos, I am sure there are also very few ZvZ vids.
I have to agree with an earlier poster. From a “What I don’t like to encounter” perspective, Guardian + Mesmer tops my list. Tanky/supportive, even if built for more dps (Guardian) with a clone spamming Mesmer is just nuts to deal with.
I had forgotten about this video, I watched it last year. I figured when I started watching this it wasn’t gonna have any impact on me, I was wrong. Spot on, funny as hell. The truth should sting, but by now I think the devs are numbed.
immobilize is a cc condition. you can remove it.
can’t you just wait for the stack to build and then cleanse it in one shot using condition removal ?
In a zerg fight, especially when you’re condi bombed by necros, it seems like immobilized is the last condition to be cleansed.
Immobilized shouldn’t be able to be stacked, it should be FCFS, you only need to deal with the first immobilized while negate the others that are used on you when the first one is still active. You can still chain immobilized by timing your skill(more skill required) so a group can chain immobilized a person, instead of right now you can spam it like a kittening noob and it’ll work even better with no skill required(Anet love to caters to their casual players).
What if the person have dogged march+melandru+lemongrass thus making immobilized to be useless? What I’ve stated on my OP will negate those combination by making immobilized to be unaffected by these -condition duration so you won’t get an immobilized skill that only lasted 0.5 sec.
I ran into a 5 man with 2 thieves, mes necro and war, all specced up to chain immob, i was on a my support guard with 3 double condi removes and a triple condi remove, sigil of purity…. just try and guess how effin far I ran.
You lost a 1v5?!
Buff guardians already!
He lost because he was immobilized. Reading comprehension.
I really don’t want this game to become one of those fail games where you just grind for gear, it’s not even a fun grind.
To late.
Anytime there are new items added to the gem store that will bring in buyers you can expect a price surge on gems, at a minimum it will be temporary. However, as you may have noticed over the short life span of the game, prices keep going up and up, no matter how slow. This is a supply and demand example of economics 101. As the game ages, players gain more and more wealth. Less players will buy gems for real cash. The demand for gems will remain roughly the same or slowly escalate, depending on new items being added. Less gems in the market, more demand for gems via in-game currency, higher prices for gems.
