Don’t be tricked into trying P/P……..if you play a regular thief build you will not be satisfied playing:
1,1,1,1,1,3,1,1,3,1,1,1,1,3,1,1,1……….
There is no positioning, stealth or serious burst skill use involved. It won’t even feel “Thiefy”.
I tried and tried to make a P/P thief and it just doesn’t feel right at all. I am not talking about since the patch, I mean since the length of the game’s life. It’s always been the same. Extremely boring and defenseless pretty much.

“I abused Lich Form until it got nerfed! QQ!”
moving on…….
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
You guys….LOL……
You know Anet KNEW this was coming. It’s been complained about since the Vanity Plate fire sale. And they gave you the finger.
Get used to it.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
You guys are missing a critical point. Since launch I have stated this clearly, but well it’s been nearly 2 years and no one listened in the past.
This game is built on mediocrity. Your base damage is mediocre, your skills that enhance your damage are mediocre. Sigils, runes, food buffs, all mediocre. But take heart! If you stack enough mediocrity and pile it very high you will seem powerful! (in comparison to not stacking mediocrity)
If you pile it high enough you can barely see over the lip of your pit of woe. Not enough to climb out, but you can see!
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
It’s kinda ridiculous if you stack the crit. It’s just about like watching an uzi fight in some FPS game. I kept looking for the clip socket.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
1 condition is hardly worth the sigil slot.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Sorry to necro this 4 month old thread, but I am gonna mess around with something like this and I have been away from the game for quite some time (it’s been about a year or longer since I played my ele).
Someone mentions above that not spending 10 (now 2) trait points somehow boosts the healing by 150? Is this something new? Why not take 2 pts in Air for Soothing Winds?
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…

You still get your keys at the same levels, but they’re just a little harder to farm.
NOW GET BACK IN THE GAME AND JUST PLAY
If you want to farm stuff so badly go play WoW
You think that MMO cornered the market on farming? You think that MMO has all the grind? You think GW2 doesn’t require farming? You think GW2 doesn’t require grind?
Did you fully buy into that manifesto?
This is all very cute.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Nice! Now if we could get the same for Vanity Plates.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
This “self correct challenge” is really annoying. I never had to appeal to this kind of stuff to get decent challenge, it gets to a point it’s hilarious.
Perhaps this isn’t the game for you, judging by that comment.
I don’t play FPS games since they are not the kind of “fun” I am after. I don’t pack sand, not my bag.

I think the real solution is the new trait to add wheels to turrets. They will follow the engi like Ranger spirits.
The trait shall be called………….Skatemode.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
It’s like Beeny Babies gone virtual.

smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
The only reason people want more levels is for the bigger number. GW1 was a shining example of you don’t need a large level number for the game to work.
I vote for a level squish. 20 Seems about right for cap.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
In every MMO I have played I have noticed the people screaming they are bored, things are too easy, etc., are the very ones that bypass, exploit, glitch use 3rd party add-ons, macro, etc.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
It’s no better or different than the ability to inspect characters, yet that was not put into this game, highly likely by design.
I don’t see the need to sniff butts in a video game.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
The real question is: why is this displayed in the first place?
It is a rather inappropriate display for a friends list.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Engi with the new turret trait that puts wheels on the turrets so they follow you around like ranger spirits.
I think the trait is called Skatemode.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Honestly any unique you have equipped or in your inventory, when mousing over another to buy, should have red text displayed in the item info box of the hover over stating you already possess one.
Also, items like Ascended bought via Laurels at a vendor should have a period of time where you can return it and get your Laurels back. That other game has such a system, and it can help with these issues.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
…….again……..different subject, same issue.
What in the world does it do to harm you if someone get’s achievement points by spending money for virtual goods? Seriously…..
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Hello frands! #1 casual yolo player here! I do what ArrDee does and not bother to read OP post and tell him to do what he says don’t tell him to do because I like to read my own text in random pvp threads!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I think OP is saying Warrior has to much mobility and should be nerfed.
:)
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
They took the level 20 end game and quadrupled it! Awesomesauce!
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
They have one “beta mode” map in custom arenas called Courtyard as well, that uses a team deathmatch style system instead of a capture point system.
O.O
I was not aware of the purpose of that map, thanks for pointing that out.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
No other class is more runner based than Warrior, from my limited sPvP experience. If they can’t 1 trick pony you down asap, they run like girls. This is why I eat warrior face ALL DAY LONG, in WvW and sPvP. I don’t play builds than can be beaten with a single key press, nor do I refuse to dodge.
It’s the mentality of the player behind the class.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I prefer the new system. I prefer getting full transmute stones vs the old non-80 ones.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Well we could reintroduce how minions are summoned ala gw1. You need a corpse….but then we would get the sacrifice player exploit to generate them before a match starts…oh wait…
(Yes, that happened in GW1)
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I don’t see the problem here. Achievements are being added for YOUR usages. You are not required to buy BL stuff. You are not hampered in any way by not doing the achievements. But because your neighbor drives a yellow volkswagen and you simply hate yellow, you feel it is unfair and should not be allowed…….yeah……someone needs to take his yellow car away.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Ahh see you are rushing to 80 cause “80 is where the fun starts”. I will point out all the “80 and I am bored” threads.
Rushing through the game will not necessarily make it more fun at 80. Also as others noted you don’t have to grind maps. In fact, I hate that so much I have never done it, with 17 level 80s behind me, I never completed all map content to get to 80. All except 1 toon just explored, snatching all waypoints, PoIs, Vistas and Skill Points I could tolerate on maps. Usually a few hearts (tasks) here or there, easy ones that I kinda like doing. Grab this event or that. I usually complete the Orr maps, Frostgorge and eventually Mount Maelstrom/Fireheart Rise for the rewards to sell/salvage. Usually by the time I am finishing those last 3 the character is already 80.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
I can not believe people have not learned the one way you ensure you get Anet’s undivided and swift and aggressive attention is to complain about complainers.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Players wanted more levels (how can you tell your WoW friends you awesome character is only level 20? GW1’s end game) and Anet gave them levels.
You have no one to fault but the fan base.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
In GW1 the differences were more than cosmetic. Just sayin’.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Lugh’s trait changes are certainly better for a solo roamer.

If you haven’t managed by now necroing an old thread won’t save you.

Right, that is my issue with underwater. It is just unsatisfying due to lack of good utilties and terrible to non-existently useful elites.
I know my first shocker was on my thief. Basilisk Venom, in PvE, I hate it enough. Now I have to fight an instance boss with that as my elite? Seriously?
They spent way to much time on the environment and so little time on the utilities and elites (elites had next to no time spent on them relatively speaking).
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Anet is so happy with their underwater battle and how satisfying it is to endure that they felt it necessary to remove the only PvP map that included it.
:)

Sometimes I think people forget what words mean. Rare is defined as “(of a thing) not found in large numbers and consequently of interest or value.” Exotics are supposed to be even more rare (similar in comparison to how Rare is to Uncommon"
Drop rate is fine (though my own personal luck seems to suck)
This was somewhat acceptable when Exotics were the end game gear, even back then the drop rates were even WORSE. Thats right, new players, they improved drop rates some time ago. However, they are still miserably bad. That once in several weeks Exotic you may get 99% chance you can’t or won’t even use. It’s really bad, it’s really sad. Leisure games such as MMOs are fun due to getting exciting drops from tough battles. Not in GW2. You get a measured item that stacks. After enough stacks you can redeem it or craft it into something else. Then you redeem that or craft it further, eventually you may get the item you are after. This is really bad, nuff said. Completely unsatisfying for a game of leisure. TOIL. You will WORK your kitten off to play our game. FUN!
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
The one major flaw in the OPs analysis is he believes the amount of players can be extrapolated from the net money made from the product (which includes gem store sales). You can have a smaller player base that is more loyal and more spendy and come to the same net monetary gain. So, in short, player base can not readily be determined (in comparison to other games) simply by profits.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
it could have 16s CD, grant fury and vigor as well as cleanse 2 conditions, potentially.
Now that is really overpowered. Should it also make you breakfast?
Not unless you’re willing to spend 8 trait points.
Exactly, the two condis cleansed and fury are from a grandmaster, and vigor and reduced CD require atleast 4 points in WS. If you wanted the maximum benefit from a survival skill, it wouldn’t leave you with much breathing room.
Gotcha, I was thinking you meant baseline in the skill itself.

BTW, my magic find was at 337% at the time, so that may have figured into it.
Let’s say, for the sake of argument, the drop chance on a precursor is .0000001 now we factor in that massive magic find of ~300%. You just upped your chance to .0000003 Grats!
This is what people don’t understand about these MMO/RPG magic find systems, your massive chance increases result in a puny difference.
I won’t go into how horribly bad the loot system is in this game, it’s all Toil based. You have to work to get anything since your odds of anything useful and meaningful dropping are terribly, horribly out of whack and greatly unsatisfying.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
What we really need more than just salvaging karma or wvw gear is a method to retrieve Upgrade Components WE put into them.
I am not out to game any system, I just want my overly expensive Runes that I bought and put in the armor BACK. I want them returned. If that means, at best, we salvage the armor and gain no components other than the upgrades, fine by me.
For karma gear that comes with upgrades, if the upgrades weren’t replaced, you get nothing when salvaged.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
The reward system of this game is horrible, there is no doubt. Everything is set up to be earned by TOIL. You will grind and grind for this, grind and grind for that. Satisfying drops? Almost unheard of. You will TOIL for Laurels, TOIL for Ectos, TOIL for shards, TOIL for gold. You will WORK at this game of LEISURE or you will not be “rewarded”.
There aren’t many MMOs where you kills something uber and you get jack when it comes to a satisfying reward. GW2 is one of them. If you get something it will be going into a stack that is required to stack very high before you can get your TOILED reward.
It seriously drains any fun you thought you would have doing uber events/mobs/whatever. You will WORK, oh yes, the STICK is stronger than the CARROT.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
The skill reads like some throwback to the days when the game behaved VERY differently than even what we saw in early Betas. I suspect, at some point, the fact that it healed both pet and Ranger was it’s bonus effect but they then made all heals work like this when they made the pet more central to the class and in their infinite oversight, simply neglected to update a skill that may very well be years old in design.
It smells like a skill straight out of GW1 that just doesn’t work in GW2.
Which is sad because the GW1 pet skills where much more dynamic and interesting.
You may very well have hit the nail on the head. It does come off as something that at one time was a good option, then the other heals got worked on and fleshed out, but no one bothered to revisit this skill.

Hi Maxwell,
The big issue for us to add Season 1 to the Story Journal is that Season 1 was not built the same way that Season 2 was. I can’t really share details but this means that we can’t simply retrofit the story steps into the Story Journal and we’re going to need to rework Season 1 into a format that fits the Story Journal. As we’ve said, we really want all players to be able to experience as much of the Living World as possible at one point, but I don’t have more details to give you, including a possible timeline.
Thanks for sharing your perspective!
I just want to say to you, Mr. Presti, how grateful I am that you not only take the time to read the threads on this forum but you also reply where you feel it is merited. I realize this is completely voluntary by the staff at Anet, so I want to say thank you.

It’s the same thing! Make a new character in GW2. Go hunt for your traits in the world, instead of buying them. Bam. It’s elite skill hunting in GW1.
Not really. GW1 elite skill capping was tedious and often painful and unrewarding. How many times did you enter that out of town instance with henchman (before Heros) and fight your way to where the boss might have spawned only to find it didn’t? Repeat……repeat…….repeat……….ugh.
While I miss the potent feeling GW1s elites actually gave me, I don’t miss capping them.
