Banned for trash talking?

Trash talking comes with EVERY PvP game and anyone that doesn’t like it should either: A.) go play something else, B.) grow a pair, or C.) block and move on. And if ANet is really serious about turning this game into an eSport (lol) they will have to change “teh rules” because the type of player they’re attempting to attract probably kitten-talks their own mom.

Bottom line is maturity goes both ways. People are quick to tell others to “act like an adult” and not taunt others, but forget that they themselves could just not get kitten over words in a godkitten video game.

Read above. You couldn’t be more wrong.

Banned for trash talking?

So I received a 3 day ban. My client turned grey and got a message similar to
“Your account has been lock due to misbehavior”

The only time i talk via in game is when im talking smack to the enemy team in wvw. I add to my party and tell them they suck at the game. lol it’s what pvp is all about. I can understand a 1 day ban to make the carebears happy. But 3 days?! lol. thats just silly. I got banned because i hurt some lonely low-life’s feelings and he could report me for making him feel even more inadequate rofl.

Its not my fault these people have insecurity issues and try to solve them by reporting every “mean” person on the game rofl.

Why is there even a report option for that?! THEY CHOSE TO JOIN MY PARTY. lol its not like i made them join my party. THEY CHOSE TO GET PICKED ON. honestly, what WvW’er can say that 95% of the time when they get invited to a party, that they don’t get bashed on? lol

So it’s my fault for that persons stupidity in joining my party, getting bashed so bad he cried and reported me. LOL good things ANet takes such good care of the care bears. gotta keep dem gem store purchases up.

On another note: You guys tried to fix the talking cross server in wvw, but you didnt think about not allowing cross server party invites INSIDE WvW? lol. Is it really too hard to disable party invites INSIDE WvW? rofl. But its my fault that someone got his wittle feewings hurt and cried to mommy. rofl

ALSO, I saw someone else post that they received a ban and have no idea why. I figure its because of the excessive trash talking i do. But i also didnt receive an email or notification, so good thing i was online when the ban happened.

Anyways, a word to you softskinned carebears. If you continuously get owned or run from someone, and they invite you to their party, I WOULD NOT JOIN THE PARTY. ROFL. Just a heads up to you spineless pvp’ers that havent a clue to what you’re doing in wvw.

Trash talking is what PvP is all about. And to ban someone because you guys can’t prevent it, its just plain STUPID. So i’ll prolly be heading over to Darkfall where carebears quit after their first death.

I’ll prolly be back to see whats up with this new update. Gotta get dem skins. lolol

But after this, i refuse to buy anymore gems from you guys, i’m not mad, just dissappointed that the carebears got the best of me. lol. see you guys in 3 days.

Noobs.

Yes, it’s your fault. Not the “carebear” who reported you or the person whose “stupidity” prompted a report, or the “spineless” player who unwittingly joined your group. We are gamers — we understand (and tolerate reasonable) trash talking. What we do *not( tolerate is excessive language, hate speech, or crudity beyond that normally understood and accepted by the community at large. And that community includes PvPers of the highest caliber who trash talk from here to Christmas but keep themselves in check enough to not cross the line.

No one is suspended because of a report; no one is suspended because of a dozen reports. Players are suspended for the poor choices that they make. Period.

Since my question wasnt answered and extremely time sensitive to play with my friends on the same home server I want to get this issue cleared with and done with ASAP. So to sadly repeat

I apologize for making new threads but it would be a faster process if you didnt keep it in a locked thread sop I can continue to ask questions.

Now I understand this is frustrating and this is equally frustrating for both parties. As I am unable to get a refund for my gems nor able to go back to my old server unless I pay more gems which will waste the 35 dollars I spent on the gems. Now, I appreciate that your also feeling it. But please bear with me.

Is there any way for all of now without having to wait to be on the same home servers?

You have now posted three or four threads. Please read THIS POST to understand that you are being answered, that the information is available if you will use the Search Engine above, and that we will not continue to tolerate repeated posts about an issue that has been asked and answered, repeatedly.

I point you to the original thread — https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Changing-Servers-2/first#post2082170 — into which you numerous additional thread have been added. I feel sure you will find all the answers there, or with the use of the Search Engine.

They are now argueing that they had no characters while transferring servers and unable to do so do they have to wait a full week to transfer as well?

Please stop making new threads about this question. You can find ALL the information you need about this with a simple use of the search engine.

Yes, they must wait one week. The standard 7-day “cool down” period applies.

Gaile, I’d like to also address Thedenofsin.

The term “Third Party Software” covers both software and/or components (i.e. hardware). Here’s the copy/pasta of the section this comes from:

“15. THIRD PARTY TECHNOLOGY
You acknowledge that (i) the Game may contain other software or components that are either owned by a third party or in the public domain, and (ii) NCSOFT has no proprietary interest in such software or components (collectively and each, the “Third Party Software”), and as such, cannot grant you a license to use such Third-Party Software.”

Thank you, SP, that’s very helpful of you and provides a different level of response that will assist with understanding this issue.

You can transfer to any server that is not Full free of charge, if you delete all your characters. Be sure to put all non-soulbound items in the bank, as the bank will transfer with you. Best of luck on your new server. =)

This is correct.

I’ve already responded. We are not able to replace your gems. There are several means to change servers, and I’m really very sorry that you made an error, but this simply is not something we’re able to give you gems to do again.

Gail; Today I recieved an e-mail from what appears to be Guild Wars 2 support however something does not feel right about it. All the included links refer to “de.support.guildwars2.com.account.verification.loing.entvasss.gulldwars2.pw/.” Yes that is “gulldwars2.” Would you like me to forward it to you with the header information in a seperate text?

Here is the part of the e-mail that set off alarms first: “Once your account is complete certification, we will check your account. Once verified, you will receive in the near future in the game mailed mystery gift. If you do not complete the verification we will limit risk account or close the account” There was no period at the end.

Ken /|\

Of course that’s a fake. Note misspelling. Note horrible grammer. And the process makes no sense. Delete and ignore. Do NOT click links. And no, thanks, I don’t need to see the header information, although if you want to copy (without clicking links) the full body of the email and provide it here, I can add it to my phishing archives. Please do NOT include the links in the copy, if you do paste it here.

This might sound like I’m joking but I can assure you I’m not!

It says that I can’t reference to any illegal drugs. What if say I live in Colorado or Washington and I reference Marijauna?

Sorry if this is a dumb question I’ve just been wondering this for a while.

You may well ask about Amsterdam and other areas of the world. But players come from everywhere, so the term “illegal” is used in a broad sense and the name is not allowed. We’re not going to debate someone’s geographical (or even philosophical) location.

Dreamstrom, if you purchased your account fairly recently and don’t mind losing it, I think you can apply for a refund. Once you obtain it, you recreate a new account. This way you can type the display name correctly. This is the only way I see you fixing the name. I think it’s fair since the help desk can’t help you, so help yourself. Cheers

Oh, also, if you can prove to them that your first name is Dream and your last name is Strom, they can change it for you. I believe the feature is already in place they just don’t allow us to change it ourselves but they will change it for you in that circumstance.

Be aware that if one gets a refund, the account is permanently closed AND the credit card associated with it is disabled and may not be used in the future in any purchases related to Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 (or any other NCsoft game). This means that it may not be possible to simply get a refund and start a new account.

What counts as bot-behavior?

I think the botters would also be very happy to know what counts as bot-behavior. So I don’t believe that A-net will answer this ….

We’re asked a lot about what prompts an account “flag” for botting. And respectfully, we just can’t say “If you do this, you’re ok, if you do that other thing, we’ll catch you in our anti-botting nets.”

I truly understand why you’re asking, and I really hope that this situation will be behind you and you’ll never have it happen again. That is usually the case, I promise! The instances of someone having this happen more than once when s/he is playing legitimately is very low! (I will not deny that it happens, but it’s a small percentage of a very small percentage.)

Please just go about your legitimate business and trust that we will help you, should you need it, as quickly as possible.

We’re not really in a position to give specifics like “How much can I get by with?”

While we are not, as we’ve stated many (a thousand? ) times, in a position to “vet” any particular program, it seems to me that auto-clickers are programs that do appear to give an advantage to those who use them. And that is against the rules, as you can read in the sticky post about our policices on Third-Party Programs.

I clicked 10,000 times for each of certain titles that I got in Guild Wars, and never resorted to using an auto-clicker. I suggest you do that same because these programs do not seem to conform to our Rules of Conduct or our User Agreement.

Its frustrating cause I transferrred for less then 10 minutes and found out they were in a different server. I am just amazed on how unhelpful support is on it.

I wouldnt have bought gems with money if the exchange rate was at a decent rate but right now its just amazingly expensive.

I am sorry that you are frustrated, but we cannot undo every error made by every player. To do that would require a ridiculously high number of team members. We have in-game means to prevent errors, but this was a communication error outside our control, and we simply cannot offer to reverse it.

well, i know i was trolling yesterday in map chat, but i surely did nothing offensive, none of my words were pointing someone, 4 messages for 72 hours. At least u should sent me a email or in game message to warn someone who uses offensive massage, ban someone instantly, thats not so nice.

You engaged in hate speech, repeatedly. This happened at 10:21 PM GMT. There is absolutely no doubt that you did this, and no question that it was offensive. If you expect us to take the time to send you a warning, consider it done:

All explained in clear language in the Conduct Breaches and Outcomes document

You will serve your time and, hopefully, use even just a minute of that time to reflect on the fact that we want the game world to be pleasant for everyone and that those who don’t follow our reasonable rules of behavior will be suspended.

I am not sure what you hope to accomplish with this post? You have no user name, no ticket numbers, nothing to identify the person having the issue.

Your friend should click on the support link at the top of the forums. In the middle of the page, “Ask a question” and open a support ticket. Support accounts are separate from forum accounts, so if he does not already have a support account he can create one on that same page. These situations are usually handled quickly by support, but if he has not heard from support in 3 days, you can post the ticket number in the sticky thread located here:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-and-older-merged

Your friend’s assertions and theories are inaccurate. Nay, they are wildly inaccurate. Can you imagine the chaos of doing what he asserts? Ban anyone who sends or receives gold? The comment is just ridiculous!

The care taken to ensure he is the account owner is essential, as we cannot and will not take tickets at face value. If the account particulars align, we can help immediately. But there must be something in his initial appeal that did not sync with our records, and that is what prompted the request for more proof of ownership. Would you have us act otherwise, knowing that would-be account thieves try every day of the year to steal accounts through false requests for support?

If your friend still needs help after three days, please feel free to post in the sticky thread above. It’s normal for those involved in a false positive to be assisted and back in the game in <24 hours, though, so I doubt that will be necessary.

I am starting an internal discussion about our several review processes, to make sure we’re doing our utmost to reduce false positives to a close to 0% as humanly possible. I can’t promise — no one can promise — that we’ll never make an error. But we take this concern seriously and will address it as well and in as many ways as we can!

I’m happy to hear this, because it’s indeed a serious problem. I have been playing a lot less recently because I’m just totally confused on what is and what isn’t going to get me banned in this game. I have been banned twice for doing nothing more then just playing the game. I want you to know though that it is some consolation to know that the issue is being discussed and perhaps a change can be implemented in the future. I understand that your comment is in no way a promise, but I am happy the issue is being reviewed.

While I have had my problems with the ‘botting’ issue, I do want to commend the Customer Support team which has in both instances acted swiftly and professionally to get me back into the game. Thanks to them, and thank you for bringing this serious issue up for review. Your efforts are appreciated.

Thank you for your positive comments. I’m sorry that you have had those experiences, and we’re going to be paying careful attention to those issues, because we’re handling rather significant cheating issues and do not want to catch innocent players in those sweeps. Do be aware, though, that any time we do more than an individual termination, we set the markers very high, and triple-check the info. Yours was not involved in those cases, I’m sure, and was simply an unfortunate error that was, doubly-unfortunately, duplicated.

We’ll continue to review and discuss!

I wanted to post to say that I am aware that yours is not the only post expressing concerns about false positives (generally for botting or for RMT activity). Some of the account terminations that people complain about here are 100% accurate. They may have a friend post, or use an alternative account to protest, but they truly are guilty of the actions for which their account was terminated. (Just as you’ve seen the “I didn’t do it” claims from people with the nastiest of names, or the rudest and most aggressive of behaviors!)

In the end, though, some suspensions and account terminations are indeed the result of a false positive. We regret each and every one of those.

I am starting an internal discussion about our several review processes, to make sure we’re doing our utmost to reduce false positives to a close to 0% as humanly possible. You changed your offensive name to another offensive name.

Stop trying to work around the word filter. Stop choosing names you KNOW are wrong. Serve your time and and learn from it.

I am sorry about both of these situations, Flash and Tanku. But please give the team some time to resolve the matter, and please do not submit additional tickets (unkitten th of you are suspended, in which can you both need to appeal). The issue happened today, and I believe it will be resolved within 24 hours.

Borrow a huge amount of gold, 200-300 G, maybe even more? I want to invest on certain TP things, but one of the guild member said people has been banned with even 20 G. May I know if Anet checks before they start banning people?

You should be fine, but suggestions in this thread are helpful. As a player, I would do the one transfer, make a clear transmittal in-game mail, and be ready to contact Support if — and Dwayna forbid it happens! — you are suspended. We will review. We will reverse. And we will do our best to not block in error.

So I do hope they get it down to 0 or atleast go for that.

That is indeed our goal! I think that human error is going to happen, but I’m looking into ways to improve the reports that lead to human error, and ways to improve our review systems, in order to get to the ideal “0% Errors.”

You were not “rude,” per se. You chose an offensive name and were actioned accordingly. And I note this was the third time you’ve chosen virtually the same offensive name.

Select another name, nothing related to the “theme” of your previous names, and you will be fine. The bottom line is that your issue was not mishandled. In fact, you were un-suspended twice! Normally, we’ll offer a single un-suspension. Consider yourself lucky and, in the future, “Choose wisely.”

I today received an email, which Hotmail determined was sent by a safe sender, from GW2, it looks really authentic but my “Spidey-sense” was tingling so I didn’t click on the link provided by it.

Does Arena net send out such “click this link to confirm your account” emails? because the email address was exactly the same as the one used to send prior official emails, suggests to me that scammers may have somehow been able to send emails that appear to be authentic.

I can provide the link address for you to check, I didn’t include it in this forum post for security reasons.

No, we do not send such emails. We send emails that allow you to “white-list” an IP address, but those are entirely different. I still encourage you to check properties and review the mouse-over information to see where you really are going with the link provided. If it doesn’t say guildwars2.com, be very, very careful!

I figured as much, I was alarmed purely because they had somehow hijacked the official email address hence it showing up as on my safe list.

They didn’t highjack our email address. They are simply inputting it as the sender. Anyone can do that. I could send a mail as Robert E. Lee, Catherine the Great, or Captain Kirk. So could you. This is because the sender name is never verified against the sending address.

So as a savvy email user, don’t look at what it says but examine the email’s behind-the-scenes properties by doing a right-click and then reviewing “properties” on the popup. You’ll see who really sent the mail, and in these cases, it’s not us!

KNOWN PHISHING EMAIL (with helpful image)

I really like this image, kindly created by forum member basher. Follow these steps with any unsolicited email and it will help protect your personal security! (Alternately, you can right click and hit “properties” to learn a whole lot more about the sender of an email. Do this for emails so that you can see if they come from where (and whom) they say they come from.
