We are really looking forward to the site!
P.S.: There´s more to come soon; as a lizard-fan you really got me with the whole jungle setting and all its Itzel, Nuhoch, dinosaurs and other creatures with this distinct “prehistoric” feeling ^^
Oh cool! I like lizards and horned toads a lot, too. I find them really fascinating creatures, and of course I have a healthy love of all things dinosaur, as well. I look forward to your future works!
We want to thank everyone again for sending such marvelous screenshots!
Here are the winners:
We also want to call out for honorable mention (no prizes, but a special note of thanks):
Thanks again, everyone.
Note: We will be offering the same opportunity with our Wintersday Event. And we will be having an IGE (In-game event) during the festival. We’d love to see your screenshots of the festival, but even more particularly, of the dev event during Wintersday. I’ll provide date and time information in the future. Naturally this random giveaway will be offered on all four of our forums: English, French, German, and Spanish.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Any clue if the winners have been said? Not sure if they already tell them or they didn’t yet ^^ Thanks.
My fault, and I apologize. I had to wait a bit to get the in-game codes, but I’ll be announcing later today! Thanks to everyone for being so patient — and an even bigger thanks to everyone who shared a screenshot.
Love this, Deity of Ragefire! Thank you for sharing it, and for making such a great piece, too! <3
Loving all of these pieces of art, Benjamin!
We really have a great number of talented folks in our community, and it’s a major focus of mine to bring them into the spotlight they so clearly deserve, along with Lizzie on CSL. Anatoli does the same with the monthly Community Showcase webpage, as well.
Thanks for all you are doing to enrich our community!

I thought it might help to let you know that stickying this thread was a suggestion from a couple of players. I asked John, and he and I thought there was still content of value in his older post, so that’s why it was stickied.
We do understand you have questions and concerns. The stickying of this thread was only a convenience measure for forum members suggested by forum members. It’s really that simple.
A message from John Corpening and John Smith:
Hello All,
Since the launch of Heart of Thorns the Team has been monitoring feedback regarding the changes to Fractals. We’ve noticed several issues with fractal balance and rewards that are especially prominent above Fractal Level 50, and the team is working on some adjustments that we are planning to ship in December. We wanted to give you an overview of what’s coming.
Balance
After reviewing stat scaling we have decided to make an adjustment to how toughness scales. From fractal scale 1 to 50 the toughness stat of creatures will scale up with the fractal scale. Beyond fractal scale 50 the toughness stat of creatures will no longer increase with the scale of the fractal. This is to make damage builds more viable in higher level fractals.
Ascended Drop Rates
We’ve noticed some changes to ascended drop rates that are below what we were expecting. In this iteration of Fractal changes we will be increasing the drop rate of ascended gear from your Fractal dailies with an emphasis on high level Fractals rewarding more ascended armor.
Mastery Experience
We plan for Fractals to be an effective place to earn mastery experience. Our first step towards that goal is adding additional experience sources to boss chests at the end of each Fractal. This experience counts towards earning your Masteries for Central Tyria, and increases both for more difficult Fractals as well as with increased Fractal Scale.
Gold
In this iteration, there will be several changes to how fractals give out liquid rewards (gold and items designed to convert directly into gold). The negative aspect of this change is a required decrease to the amount of keys you receive from converting a stabilizing matrix from two to one. However the upside is threefold:
We look forward to getting these changes to you and would like to thank you for all of your constructive feedback on Fractals. We are committed to supporting fractals for the long term and we’ll be continuously monitoring them for future improvements.
Thank you,
John

Eh?!
The first post has information directly from John Corpening. Am I misunderstanding your question?

You may speculate, if you wish. However, the team that is requesting testers has carefully analyzed the sort of player they need, and they have made determinations based on those precise needs. This is obviously not an attempt to distance veteran players, but to get the best test input possible, and obviously a player’s perspectives change with veterancy.
For example, in other tests, they’ve sought someone with no familiarity with our game. Maybe that test involved looking at the user experience with the game interface, you know, such as seeing how easily someone discovers the dye system, or the wardrobe, or figures out how the inventory and storage systems work.
Maybe in the case of this test something is being changed. Your familiarity — as a widely experienced player — and your knowledge of the current interface and our development and patterns in general would obviously change the input that you gave. You know the interface, a small change might not cause you to stumble at all. But maybe that person with less experience would be completely flummoxed by the proposed alterations and not have the instincts of a veteran in finding things.
I truly don’t know what they’re testing. I am nearly certain it is not the interface, but I’m using that simply as an example. I make the post simply to point out that there are different types of tests, and different input requirements, including that of newbies, mid-level players, veteran players, and experts.
Thanks for understanding.

ArenaNet has a playtest opportunity for gamers who are relatively new to Guild Wars 2. If you, or someone you know, has recently acquired Guild Wars 2, is local to our offices, and would like join us at ArenaNet tomorrow to participate, please read on!
A potential tester would be someone who:
Interested parties should please e-mail Robin@Arena.Net today, so that she can discuss this opportunity with you.
Please pass the word along to your friends. Thanks!

An issue arose on Wednesday that caused some players’ Heart of Thorns map exploration to disappear. If your account was one of those that had the map exploration issue, it was temporarily disabled in order to correct the issue. The correction has been made to all impacted accounts, and those involved will find a nice little something in your in-game mail as a gift to thank you for your understanding. We’re sorry for any distress that the time-out caused — the team worked as quickly as they could to rectify the matter.
If your account has been blocked, suspended, or terminated for a reason other than the correction of the map exploration bug, please feel free to contact Customer Support and they will assist you.
It be nice of the dev team/ communications to actually communicate this BEFORE this gets done. It would take away a lot of stress from many people.
It was, if you bothered waching Dev Tracker it was very clearly explained what was being planned and it was announced when the process was about to start!
The dev. doing it was amazingly open and clear about how the problem was being addressed.
Thank you, Kraggy. The Dev Tracker is a marvelous thing, and it’s true that this situation was talked about several times before it took place.
mcwurth — I’m sorry that you missed that notification. I’m sure you can appreciate that in the overall scope of things, the few player whom it impacted would not warrant something as off-putting as a system-wide, in-game notification. Doing that would cause unnecessary stress and concern from potentially hundreds of thousands of players. Posting on the forums, as our dev did, seemed the best way to foreshadow such a singular incident that impacted so few players.
I am sorry for any stress that you were caused by not being aware of the brief, planned account reset period.

Kranodor – There are an awful lot of people playing Guild Wars 2 and I hope you will take the chance to reach out to some of them. You may find your soulmate after all!
I wish you well in the future.
I have The Dreamer. And I hear the sounds and, in fact, have had a few people ask me “What IS that sound” or “Can you disable that whinnying?”
I agree with Lauren, and I’ve been tracking this for a while: When I’m in a busy area, especially a boss fight zone, I seldom hear the bow. But when I’m out in the wild, I generally do hear it. I leave the analysis of bug/not a bug to those more expert than me, but in my personal case, I’ve attributed the loss of sound to the busy-ness of my area and nothing more.
I’ll try to pay more attention and take notes in the future, in case I see the sound dropping out when it’s not a highly-populated area.

What about those players, like myself that have not been credited with a variety of map completions including Verdant Brink.. I thought there were reward items that could in turn block progress – what is happening about this bug???
I’m sorry, I don’t know about that. Could you kindly submit a ticket, since this is a different issue than the one covered in this thread? I believe that the Customer Support Team will be able to answer your question.
For anyone that created a ticket, but the issue was resolved, don’t forget to close the ticket. You can close your ticket by updating it, and stating, ‘I no longer need help.’
Good advice. Thanks, Ic!
It’s Gems; at least, according to the Dev post in the pertinent thread.
(Gems, huh.)
OMG I’m still having heart palpitations.
(How many gems exactly was it?)
400
Oh. Just 400?
It was probably just gas pain anyway.
Nvm.
I’m so relieved that you’re ok. All that drama!
I wasn’t banned, but I became extremely distressed when reading this thread. Can I have that nice little reward also for forum pain and suffering?
I was not affected by the bug, I did not have my account disabled and I missed the opportunity to become distressed by this forum thread.
However, reading about it now makes me regret not having been involved somehow and also feel some pain on behalf of poor secondary sufferers like “Just a flesh wound” so I was wondering if I could have some gems to compensate for my tertiary discomfort.
In return, I promise to publicly declare that “ArenaNet Am Da Best” at least once per day for at least one day. Thank you.
Good try, Dr. D. Good try.

Following up on today’s blog post about raid rewards, we wanted to share some details on specific items:
In order to preserve the challenge of raids, we’re disabling the use of a number of items inside raid instances. Many of these restrictions will be familiar, as they’re also disabled in WvW and dungeons. However, we are also disallowing the use of many runes and sigils that provide bonus damage versus particular types of enemies, as well as the potions that give similar effects. Using food and utility buffs inside a raid is perfectly okay, but most other items that give bonus damage or access to new skills beyond your profession have been disabled.

i now have smooth 50ish fps with all highest settings
Thank you devs <3
edit: im running about 6 more degree’s cooler on my gpu
Hey, skillze, can you add that to the FAQ page? I’d like other players to see your solutions!
In the interests of keeping the conversation focused (and perhaps providing an answer to your question in advance of your having to ask it ) I wanted to let you know we have an FAQ for the 64-bit client. Please post your questions, comments, or feedback in that thread. Thanks!
I wanted to point you to our FAQ about the new 64-bit client, currently in beta. We have a lot of feedback and questions in that thread, so please feel free to add your thoughts there!

Will treat bags opened after the festival ends still yield the festival rewards? I forget if they turn off the festival drops from treat bags or not.
Treat bags continue to produce Halloween items when they are opened.
Very disappointed. Don’t you think we were in the labrynth during the last couple days of the event instead of watching the forums for some last minute notice?
Communications at it’s worst.
Even Sonder the Seller appears gone.
Is it really that hard to actually plan ahead and tell us?
This information was posted at Noon on November 2nd. The event ended the morning of November 4th nearly 48 hours later. Communication on this was more than adequate.
Sonder is still present; I visited him last night. Look to the upper left of the Lion’s Arch map; closest WP is Commodore’s Quarter and he is called “Festival Merchant.” He stands out on the overlay map with festival item icons.
I had an amazing time with the festival:
Holy cow, Fuji. That’s just amazing!
Had a great time with the Halloween Festival! I always do. I look forward to it every year, three years now. Thank you for doing this festival. I got lots o loot, had fun with all of it. Now time to store my corn, make my recipes, bank all my ingredients and save them up for next year like I always do. Ready to start out the next one next year with stashed supplies
Oh, I liked it so much I went ahead and bought HoT. I was on the fence about it, but I was having so much fun I just wanted to go on to the next level. One adventure led to another. Twas a Happy Halloween!!
Laurie, I really enjoyed your post! It made me think of how, at harvest time when all the work is done, we store up our supplies, cook delicious foods, and enjoy the warmth of hearth and home during winter’s chill while looking forward to the coming year.
I loved the Halloween event too! It seemed like it went by so quickly, and I’m already excited for next year. Now, though, I have a jungle to explore and a guild to work on, and Wintersday to look forward too!
Thanks for the posts. I really, really love the Halloween festival. Glad to see some kindred spirits ~nudge~
Thanks to everyone for joining us this year. Can’t wait to see Mad King Thorn again next fall!

How long will the vendors stay to sell the stuff, or do they leave same time too?
Every time, it’s immediately. So don’t expect them to hang around this time either.
Actually the Halloween vendor was available year round.
This is the first time it will not be available. So it is a good thing someone asked.
If you mean Sonder the Seller, I think he’s more of a festival vendor, since he offers items related to more than just Halloween. If you mean another one, do you recall that name?
We’ve introduced a beta version of a 64-bit client for Guild Wars 2. Please review the following FAQ for more information:
What is the 64-bit client?
It is an alternative to the 32-bit client currently used to play the game. Aside from some technical details, the two are identical in functionality.
What does it mean that the client is 64-bit?
Modern computers generally have one of two types of processors: 32-bit, or 64-bit. 32-bit processors can only execute 32-bit applications, while 64-bit processors can execute both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. The fact that the client is 64-bit means that it is intended to be executed on 64-bit processors.
What are the benefits over the 32-bit client?
64-bit applications have a significantly higher limit on how much memory they are able to use compared to 32-bit applications. Due to this, the main benefit is significantly less “out of memory” crashes.
What are the requirements of using the 64-bit client?
Your computer needs to have a 64-bit processor, and your operating system must also be 64-bit. To find out whether you fulfill these requirements, please refer to Microsoft’s Knowledge Base. If you are using Windows 10 you may follow the steps for Windows 8, and replace the first step with simply clicking the search button in the task bar.
Please note that we do not support 64-bit Windows XP.
How do I get the 64-bit client?
Log in to account.arena.net and go to the Game Content page. Under “Other Clients” you will find a button that says “Windows 64-bit [Beta]”. Press that button and then follow the instructions in the next paragraph for installing the executable. Installing the 64-bit client is a manual process and is recommended only for people familiar with Windows folder management.
I already have the 32-bit client; will I have to completely download the game again?
No. The 64-bit client uses the same data as the 32-bit client. If you already have the game installed, you can follow these instructions to avoid needing to reinstall the game:
Are the two clients mutually exclusive?
No. If you have both installed (or copied to the same folder as outlined in “I already have the 32-bit client; will I have to completely download the game again?”), you may launch either client as you see fit.
Does the 64-bit client only benefit players with more than 4 GB of system memory?
No. It is true that the 32-bit client in theory can access up to 4 GB of memory. In practice however this is almost never the case, due to gaps in the address space that slowly build up over time (known as fragmentation). Most players crashing today due to being “out of memory” are actually only using between 3 and 3.5 GB of their system memory.
In addition to this, modern operating systems use something known as “virtual memory” to extend the available memory beyond what the system has physically. The 64-bit client will allow you to benefit from the increased address space by making gaps largely irrelevant, and will allow the client to use more memory than it could otherwise rather than crashing.
Are there any performance differences between the 64-bit and 32-bit client?
There may be some very slight differences in favor of either client depending on your computer’s configuration. In the vast majority of cases it should be negligible.
Why is the 64-bit client using more memory than the 32-bit client?
Due to the technical differences between the two platforms the memory usage will never be directly comparable.
Is there a 64-bit Mac client?
Unfortunately, a 64-bit Mac client is not available at this time. We are hoping to be able to provide one in the future, but have no timeline to provide it.

Some game accounts were closed today due to use of a disallowed third-party (cheat) program. Account holders were or will be notified via e-mail as soon as possible, most likely today.
If you found that your account was terminated today, please check your e-mail account for that communication. If you did not receive the e-mail, or if you have further questions, you’re welcome to contact Customer Support to inquire about your account.

Can you tell us when will the event will end? (PST morning, noon, evening)
Sorry, I don’t have a precise time. I know the change will occur with a game build that day, but there’s no set hour for the build. I feel quite sure it will not take place before 9:00 AM Pacific, but other than that, I’m not sure.
How long will the vendors stay to sell the stuff, or do they leave same time too?
The vendors depart when the event ends. Thanks for asking this — it’s a good thing for players to keep in mind. Turn in those rewards soon!
Thank you very much Gaile.
Please can our feedback about adding it to releases or patch notes be taken on board for future?
ta
Yep, I asked to add info about the end of the festical to the Update Notes (and provided verbiage) so this will be in the notes that day.
But…. but… but….
I’m not where near done farming yet!
I know. Me too! I <3 ToT Bags!

Thanks to everyone who turned out for the dev event in both Europe and North America. We have a blast, with more than 100 devs taking place.
We will be having more IGEs (In-game Events) in the future, and I’ll be sure to tell you about those in advance so you can make plans to join us.
Oh and please remember: Halloween Dev Event screenshots are invited in this thread. We’ll be randomly choosing five from the event to send a prize.
We wanted to let you know that this year’s Halloween Festival will be ending on Wednesday, November 4.
We hope you enjoyed the celebration! I know I had a blast!
Episode #2 of our fan-art live stream — Community Showcase Live — aired on October 28th. We had a blast featuring so many incredible artists and hope you’ll enjoy watching the program on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut6Fd6SiBPo
Thank you to everyone who shared art with us! This month’s show featured an awesome collection, from sculptures to cosplay, videos to digital art, plushies to computer hardware, and beyond!
Please note: CSL is now officially a monthly feature. Lizzie and I will have a show in mid- to late-November, and then again in mid-December. We’ll announce the theme for November soon. December’s CSL will have — perhaps predictably — a Wintersday theme.
So…. keep creating!!
Just a note to say all was fine, and we did feature your video during our 10/28 Community Showcase Live live stream. You can find the file here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut6Fd6SiBPo
Thanks again for such an excellent production!
These are great shots. Thank you for sharing everyone. I’ll post a few of mine tomorrow. (I’m not eligible for a prize, so I can post a few. )
Special note:
If anyone else has screenshots from the in-game event with the devs, please share them!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I have been experiencing this, as well.
First, can you tell us if your guild looks fine? And if chat actually works, even with the message you’re getting?
Second, if you’re actually having issues (and not a false message), would you guys be willing to provide the guild name, guild tag, and server? One of our team members has been working a lot of hours on this case (thank you, Glen!) but he’s willing to look into some guild issues if he has information and as time allows. (Note, this will not be an instant fix because in some cases it requires manual intervention, so please be patient. Thanks! )

Bug Fixes:
NA and EU or just NA?
Both. In fact, I’m on an EU server right now (AG) and we’ll try to pop around a lot.
Our EU Team was active earlier in the day (EU time, of course) visiting many worlds, including those primarily speaking French, German, and Spanish.
Hey all,
From 3 to 5 PM Pacific time today, some ArenaNet folks will be in the game. We’re going to hang out with players, take on Mad King Says, make a Labyrinth run or two, die to the… surmount the Clocktower, and other fun Halloween-ish stuff.
We’re also offering a few random prizes for players who submit their best shot of the event over on the Community Creations forum, in this thread.
So join us, join in, snap a shot, and have a very Happy Halloween!
We’ve having an in-game event from 3 to 5 PM Pacific today. Please share your Halloween event screenshots here!
(And see you there. )
Can you please check this? It should be all clear now.
Please, feel free to hassle the merchant for her extended absence. I already turned down her bloomin’ PTO request. Sheesh!
We’re looking into it.
I expect excuses like lost luggage, delayed flights, and inedible airport food.
I am going to send Lena this link. I know she’ll appreciate all the approbation! Thanks for posting.
I was a bit reluctant to be honest, at first.
The ambiance is perfect, the begining of the story is really cool (I don’t want to go too far too quickly so I spend some time in the camps, helping around).
I love my new main: the rev/herald.
Even if there is still some things left to tweak/fix, this is awesome. GG Anet
So glad that you’re enjoying yourself. Sure, there are things we’re working on — as you can see from the game build records — but it’s always nice to hear someone say things are going well, and I will be sure to share that “GG” with the team.
Apologies for the later notice. We had believed this would be fixed more quickly, but it has taken a bit longer than anticipated. At this point, I believe it will not be long before the vendor is back and ready to accept your transactions.
(Check for a tan line and a small tropical umbrella in her hair to verify the whole “vacation” conspiracy I earlier proposed. )
While you’re at it, would you mind checking up on the fractal weapon collection that still doesn’t work properly for everyone?
That would be a totally different subject, so please post that in the Bugs Sub-Forum, in the merged bug thread. Trying to address multiple diverse topics in one thread here isn’t practical. Thanks.
The Fractal Vendor has decided to take an unscheduled vacation to the Bahamas, where she can be found lazing on a beach, sipping tropical drinks, and engaging in a challenging round of canasta with a flock of personable seagulls.
Ok, more to the point, in official parlance:
The Fractal Vendor been temporarily disabled to address a bug. The team is working on a solution and the vendor will be back in business as soon as possible.
Thanks for your understanding.
