Customer Support has carefully reviewed the data that resulted in the termination of the game account in question. They verified that this account accessed 29 map points in under 60 seconds. It is not possible to accomplish this without the use of a third-party program, the kind of program that is expressly forbidden by our User Agreement and our Rules of Conduct.
Because of these facts, the account termination will not be reversed.
Bug Fix:
Use to be suggestion forum but Anet close it. They say it was too hard for dev to find suggestion in topic they have interest in. That forum also move really fast too.
That’s right, the Suggestions Forum was hard to parse. Having individual suggestions in the appropriate forum — a suggestion about Warrior balance in the Warrior forum, for instance — makes it easier to gather the input.
Perhaps the forum experts could act as a bridge and resolve that issue if they’re not already doing that. Or someone can maintain a running catalog of sorts for all suggestions.
Both my team (EN (2), FR, DE and ES) and our Forum Specialists do gather and share suggestions with the developers, yep.
Well, we do get those daily log-in rewards.
For free, while hired labours would have to be unlocked at a price. Knowing Anet and their past practices, players would probably spend more money on the hired labour than they would on getting that money back (this is already the case for infinite gathering tools and even for instance nodes), so my counter-argument to your initial point still stands: It would be mostly a convenience feature, a nice QoL thing to have, not an economy-breaking one.
I understand, Diogo, and thanks for the extra info. BTW, I just purchased the instance nodes — couldn’t resist after seeing someone’s fully-spiffed-out personal instance. And I knew I was going to be going there daily after getting the Wintersday Gift Tree, which I had to have — it’s just lovely!
I know it’ll take me a long while to get the money back from my investment, but it does make going out there extra fun now.
This thread is heading in a bad direction. We’ll do a little cleanup and lock it to prevent further mud slinging.
I have 4 on this account parked at a JP for a daily chest opening.
Man, talk about gaming the sys… game!
Will the economy break if you get instant instance wealth on log-in instead of spending 5 minutes on it?
Well, we do get those daily log-in rewards.
we have not had any CDI topics for some time now and i wonder if Devs planing on doing more CDI’s threads in the future?
Not that I know of. It’s possible that could happen, but at the current time there are plans to communicate through other means, including forum posts from team members or on behalf of a team and of course on our official website, in the “news” section. (The “news” is really a blog, and that’s where a lot of info goes. Once posted, forum members invited to share their thoughts here on the topic at hand.)
Players can always create their own on an subject that they like and encourage constructive posts. A dev doesn’t need to lead it.
Absolutely! As Qugi suggested, calling it a CDI can be confusing, but you’re welcome to initiate or join a thread on any topic you’d like to discuss.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I don’t know, Zoltar. Doesn’t that sound like one of those auto-play games? Like you don’t even need to log in to gain wealth?
Azure — I admire your way of thinking and I think that level of thoughtfulness will give us highly valuable feedback. Thanks.
The team is actively working on balance changes. You may have seen this thread about upcoming changes to WvW. The changes outlined in that thread were based on designer analysis, testing, observations, and on input from players. After it was posted, the thread then gathered a lot of valuable player feedback which assisted in the development and polishing of changes that will be rolled out in the future.
You’ll continue to see such threads here on the forums. At least one such thread is coming quite soon.
Game balance is a really important topic, perhaps the most important of all. So watch for threads on that subject and we’ll look for your input, feedback, comments, and suggestions.
Thank you for separating and cleaning up the two threads, Gaile.
For future reference, the link to the Discussion thread is Comments about Communication.
Happy to do it. I feel we have a more cohesive conversation with two valid threads, and it seems to be giving forum members an opportunity to participate, as and if they desire.
Takes a thread about communication to get communication from the communications team. Bravo.
Oh, it gets even better! It takes a thread about communications to get the forum communication team lead to communicate about continued communications on behalf of the communications team! (But the truth is, the thread arose during our holiday break, so it was a good tidy-up project for today.)
In fact, having two threads allows continued discussion on both topics, without overrun, which makes forum viewing more efficient and effective for all of us.
Great…that thread was merged with this one. Something seems amiss these last couple of weeks.
I think it’s all clear now. Two topics = two threads.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Ok, I think I saved all the links to valid posts here. Thanks for your patience while I got things organized.
Any comments you wish to share about Communications can be shared in the thread called — wait for it! — “Comments about Communications.”
This thread is intended to allow the continued discussion of communications while leaving the thread for dev posts on Reddit intact.
I will try to merge in all comments that are not linking a dev post.
Thanks for your understanding while I attempt to keep both conversations helpful and focused.
I’m going to see if I can make what I wrote above a reality. I’ll create a separate thread for comments about communications, and move those posts into that thread. This encourages continued discussion, as you guys see fit, while allow this thread to remain focused on actual dev posts.
Please give me a few minutes to get this taken care of. I’ll lock this until I’m done, then reopen both.
Thanks.
This thread is a good idea. But I think it needs a little help.
Let’s try this:
As I’ve said previously, we don’t require posting by any team member, we don’t direct where devs can post, and we don’t approve forum posting by any team member. Please take a look at this thread for details.
This means that having a thread that gathers posts from other sources is a good thing. But putting forum members in the position of having to find those posts amongst a whole lot of off-topic commentary isn’t so good.
Can we keep this on the topic? Not to squelch your thoughts, but to give greatest value to a helpful thread, where other topics can be discussed in an alternative thread?
I just want to say that there is a lot of marvelous new Wintersday art on our Tumblr page, art that came in over the last few weeks. Because the December CSL show was actually scheduled, and art selected, only a day or two after the start of this year’s festival, we knew that the bulk of our art work would come from last year’s submissions. And because we didn’t even have Community Showcase Live last year, that was great — we had a treasure trove of art to highlight!
This year, I see all these wonderful art works and I’m torn. I mean, we could feature them in January, as it’s still Winter, right? But then… what how does that impact our Wintersday show in December 2016? With the lead time needed, and the start of the festival being about the same time as the show, if we feature the art now we’d find ourselves with a shortage of art for that holiday show — and that holiday show is one we really love!
So… I’m going to ask for your forbearance, and let those of you who submitted Wintersday art know that we will be looking at the forums and Tumblr in late November/early December of this new year in order to select from the fantastic pieces that have been submitted, as well as those that are yet to come. ~hint~
Thank you, once again, for being the wonderful, creative people that you are!
Thanks for the feedback
I didn’t had much time during the Holidays so here is a late update.
After a bit experimenting with color this is my progress so far.
That’s just lovely! The delicacy of your drawing is matched by the subtlety of the coloring. Well done!
I love this! Thank you for sharing it, Yalora.
Is there going to be another one? I just finished a short story about Wintersday, and I’d like to showcase it.
Also, I can’t find the tumblr link.
Here’s that Tumblr link for you: http://guildwars2.tumblr.com/
And yes, we will be featuring Wintersday art at the end of 2016, and that show will feature art created during the current festival and throughout the year. It’s not generally feasible for us to showcase fan fiction — the show being visual in orientation — but this sub-forum is a great place to share that work, and we hope that you will post when you’ve finished your project!

That is just beautiful, Schlaya! I love the delicacy of the drawing.
Markus — I lead the forum team. That means we share messaging, we manage moderation, we handle forum appeals, we organize forums when new ones are required, give forum credentials to new team members, and more. No, I am not in charge of managing, vetting, or directing forum posts by members of the ArenaNet team. Nor should I be.
To be clear: I am not suggesting that the medium is completely UNimportant. I am saying that I feel that communicating is simply more important than the place where the communication is posted.
I take your comments about our non-English-speaking community very seriously. In fact, it’s at the forefront of my thinking every day. We’re able to localize some developer posts, including some of those we gather from other media and particularly the large update posts that you see come along (like the WvW Sneak Peek). Some comments by devs appear only in English. Such as this discussion, in fact. I don’t have a perfect solution for that, but please be sure that I do respect our non-EN community and will endeavour to see that they are served as well as possible, whenever possible.
HenleyLegoMan — that would be ideal. It would require coordination, of course, but it would ease the challenge of making sure our non-English community is well served. Definitely something I want to talk about in the new year.
Qugi — the topic was covered on December 4th here. Yes, there was more and more specific discussion yesterday on Reddit, but the general topic was covered here, first, nearly three weeks ago.
Here’s the quote:
I’m sorry if you don’t understand, but let’s just agree that we see this one differently.
I think this discussion has run its course. I hope that the information I have provided is helpful to you and that you have greater insight into how things operate in relation to forum communication.

I’m speaking about this one, clearly on these forums:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Update-on-Legendary-Collections-More
This is the link to the inital post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Update-on-Legendary-Collections-More/5826761
Let me be clearer:
The post to which I referred was made on December 4th, 16:04
The post that formed the basis of the complaint in the first post of this thread is less than 24 hours old.
My point is that our devs did address some of the concerns early on.
Edit: To clarify.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I’m speaking about this one to which Baconomics linked. It’s clearly on these forums:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Update-on-Legendary-Collections-More
First let me clear up a few mis-impressions:
No one goes through a review or an approval process in order to post here. No one. I think I recall that years ago a team member mentioned something about approvals, but I do not know what that was about. I can say, though, that as the lead of the forums team today (for the last 15 months) we don’t review or approve posts.
What we are sometimes asked to do it post on behalf of a team. You’ve probably seen me do that recently about game changes, a WvW Sneak Peek, etc.
Sometimes we’re asked to read through a post to see if it makes sense, if it answers the questions, if there are other items that could be included.
Sometimes, someone asks me to give a “word smith” review. (I was a professional editor long before I joined Anet. Editing is something I like to do, and a help I can offer my fellow team members.) This doesn’t involve approval, this simply involves clarity.
Posts can be made where the ArenaNet team member is comfortable posting. No one is required to post. No one is forbidden from posting. I agree with you that sometimes there is info “out there” that I’d like to see on the official forums. In cases where I’m aware of it, I’ll ask the dev if he/she could also post here, or if we could synopsize the external post to share it here. I think it works, for the most part: the team member can post wherever he/she wishes, and we’ll do our best to share info here. (In the case of the concerns in the OP, I agree with Baconomics that we did cover the topic here, and I think we did that even before it was present on reddit.)
It’s true that each forum can have heated moments. Heck, I had a neutral info post buried once. It’s wasn’t personal, and I bear no scars. The fact is, members didn’t like the message and used down votes to “shoot the messenger.”
(It was sort of a shame because then the info wasn’t known, which was the whole point of posting, but ah well.)
We don’t have up and down voting here, but people speak their minds, and sometimes that becomes over the top. We want to use moderation in the true sense — in a moderate sense — so we’re not likely to smite every single negative post, and I’m sure you know that. Getting more harsh here to encourage devs to post here is an interesting idea, but I’m not certain it’s good for the community as a whole, nor for the forum atmosphere in general.
ArenaNet doesn’t want to adopt a “post here and only here” approach to communications. I hope you’ll understand and support the inclusiveness of our communicating as being more important than the medium on which something is said.
Edit: Fixing italics.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Note: This is the point at which the thread was merged, to give greatest value to the devs in their review of your input. Please feel free to continue to offer your feedback, and thank you.
Bug Fixes:
Please do that. It helps us immensely in cutting down on RMT spam, and, more importantly, on nailing the people who steal accounts. (It’s often a stolen account being used to advertise, so your report can help on two levels.)
Swagger — I was responding, in part, to your concerns. Please read above your comments for my thoughts and my invitation to share input. Thanks.
Everyone’s opinion has value.
I simply believe that our rules against harassment encompass this sort of situation, where there’s no legitimate reason to shout spoilers in game and that the only motivation would seem to be a desire to cause distress to others. That would seems to make such activities reportable offenses that our CS agents will analyze and react to, as appropriate. (And let’s be clear, this was not a conversation, this was merely one person trying his/her best to spoil the movie for as many players a possible. Some sort of warped sense of power, perhaps? Who knows??)
As we have always said, players are welcome to report questionable chat or comments about which they have concerns. And as Elden Arnaas mentioned, each situation will be reviewed and acted upon, or not, after an analysis by the team.
As to timing, with theatres sold out for days and day, even those with a heavy devotion to the film series may simply not have been able to see it yet. What’s a good shelf date for “No spoilers, please?” (And remember, I’m talking only the very current spoiler, not the ending of Anna Karenina. ) I’m willing to ask CS, and I’d like to have opinions here. Maybe one week? Two weeks? What do you think?
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Not 100%, but sometimes I just wish bad bad things regarding some people in games.
So a guy is in LA spamming Star Wars spoilers. Nice.
PS: I’ve seen it already but C’MON!
Report it. Please!!
Why on earth is this reportable? So does this mean that no one can talk about any book, movie, or show that other people might not have seen because someone might get upset that it was spoiled? Or is it just new things? Or just a certain degree of popularity? Is there some special rubric to determine what is a reportable spoiler or not? Seriously, what makes someone talking about the new Star Wars movie a reportable offense?
I ask that you read my comments above to understand. I think I addressed your questions (before you posted them) with a reference to the immediacy of this situation.
I feel sure I made clear that I was stating my personal opinion and that I have sought an official stance and policy from Customer Support. From what I’m told, this person isn’t engaging in a conversation, isn’t interacting with others. He or she has chosen to stand in the heart of Tyria spewing spoilers. That seems antagonistic towards other players; that seems anti-community and disrespectful.
You may disagree. Heck, Customer Support may disagree. But I feel that there is nothing that our community gains with such actions, and there is something that they lose so I encourage players to allow CS to make the final decision.
can i report someone for this cause that kitten is NOT COOL
Let me be clear about my earlier comment. At this point, I recommend that players who witness this do report the player who is posting spoilers using the in-game tool. In my opinion, spoilers are beyond rude, they’re intended to cause distress to others. I’ve asked CS for an official position, but I would recommend that you flag and report spoiler-ish comments and let the CS agents make a determination.
P.S. This applies to the current topic — Episode 7 — and does not include “Someone is someone’s father” or “Rosebud is…” or “Soylent Green is…” or any of the classic spoilers of days gone by.

Hi Gaile, thanks for this info, it’s a huge relief for me and anyone else trying to complete the Winter’s Presence shoulders. However, I do have a few questions that I would like to ask, and hope you have the answers to.
- Will the candy cane achievement be given similar treatment? It’s not required for the shoulders, but it’s still one that is on a similar progression scale as Festive Imbiber.
- Will FI and the candy cane achievement progress the Wintersday meta after Jan 12? This is mainly a curiosity thing, am interested to know if the meta achieve will be locked after Jan 12 is over, even though anyone that really wants the meta won’t need it.
- Will FI and the candy cane achievement’s progress carry to next Wintersday, similar to the Grawnk ones did from last year? Just another curiosity deal.
I will see what I can learn about these questions, as well. Thank you, Kamui.
Does this mean we will still be able to get Winters Presence after wintersday? or is only the (Festive Imbibier) achievement still available? I really don’t care for the achievement I just want Winters Presence Skin…
I will ask to be certain I give you the best answer. Thanks for the question.
Thanks very much for the early feedback. Please do continue to share your thoughts, and if you could point other players to this thread so that they can share their insights, all the better!
I’ll be around for some days before the holidays, but I wanted to take this chance to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
A message from the World vs World Team:
Before the holiday season is fully upon us we wanted to give you all a sneak peek of some changes that are coming to WvW. Before we jump into the changes, we just want to make it very clear that the changes you’ll read about below are not a part of the big World vs World update that we’ve previously mentioned. This update is the first of what we hope are more regular updates to the existing core of World vs. World. We are looking forward to sharing the details of the bigger World vs World project with you in the future, but we’re not quite ready yet.
And now for that sneak peek:
Please let us know what you think of these changes. We’re going to hold off on picking a release date until we have a chance to review your feedback, but we’d like to target early 2016. So please add your feedback about these proposals to this thread.
We also wanted to express our thanks to Reyana and the commanders she has been talking with in her World vs World Commander Interview series. Reyana is a dedicated member of the WvW community and a WvW streamer. She has brought together a diverse group of community leaders to constructively share different perspectives on how they play with their guilds, and our team has taken a lot of the commanders’ feedback to heart. Reyana has put a lot of effort into organizing these interviews and we want everyone to know that the efforts that she and the commanders made have been greatly appreciated.
Have a very Happy Holiday!

Dear lord, outted by a veteran player. I’ll never live it down, now!
Thank you for these informations!
My pleasure.
We’ve noticed that you’ve had a few questions about Wintersday, and specifically about the Wintersday Presence Collection. We’d like to share the following info with you:
Enjoy the festival and we’ll see you in the game!
Here’s some information on this situation for you: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Option-Reset-Bug (There was an earlier thread on these forums, but I had not seen it at the time I wrote the response (but updated when I spotted it).

We really liked this. I wanted to share it on Community Showcase Live, but because the music has a copyright, we were not able to do so. ~sad face~
Love what you guys do and I’m looking forward to new music in the new year!
This is soooo great. Thanks a bunch for putting it together!
Oh my god all of this looks so gooooood ! O__O
It is quite funny too. Good job on this, this deserves to be seen <3
We shared it on CSL, and it was very well received by our Twitch viewers.
Get a QA department, and stop relying on the players and your good server infrastructure to handle everything.
I assure you, we have an extensive QA Department. As you may have noticed, this is a quirky bug, in that it doesn’t affect everyone, and those it impacts are seeing different outcomes. For instance, I had my auto-loot turn off, someone else had his double-click reset… It’s not a simple “This happens for everyone, all the time” situation.
Testing is more challenging than more players realize. I hope you’ll be understanding about this, and note that this is an odd situation that will be addressed as soon as possible.
After the last build, a bug developed where some players’ options were resetting. I know in my case, my “auto-loot” option went away, and my choice to not show the Personal Story reset to show the story by default. Nothing major, but a bit noticeable. (In another case, someone got to the end of a jumping puzzle and learned that the double-tap reactivated on his account and he fell to an untimely and messy death.
)
Anyway, we wanted you to know that a fix for this issue is being tested right now, and once it passes all the necessary checks and validations, we’ll be rolling out this fix to make sure your settings stay set.
Thanks gaile! Also, while your here, do we know of any offical date when wintersday will end?
Working on getting that info for you!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Sorry, folks! I did look for a thread, but was so excited to be able to tell you this was being worked on that I just didn’t see this thread. Doh! I also noticed the issue after the build and sent over an e-mail (after verification from a team member).
TL;dr — a fix is being tested and will roll out as soon as it’s verified!
