First of all, thanks for the communication! We the playerbase really appreciate it. Now, I have no issue with the removal of this amulet, but I’m a bit confused: does this announcement mean that the removal of the vigilant amulet is a top balance priority? There has been a lot of community feedback in this subforum regarding major balance-breaking skills/traits*, and Vigilant Amulet ranks nowhere on this list. Will any of the community concerns be addressed in the Feb. 23 balance patch?

*For example:

Oh sure, you can be certain that the PvP Team is aware of and reading the other threads and posts on the subject of balance. It was super nice of you to make a list for them, though!

Real question here:

If the forums are constantly being perused by the devs, how has this not already been brought up? This is not the first time these things have been brought up. Really, ever since costume items became things we could skin our armor to, people have been asking for this. If you really do read the forums, how have you not seen the plethora of posts about it…

Of course this has come up before. And yes, such comments have been read. The fact is that most come up as individual comments and not as a compendium of “Things that players would like to see come back.”

That is the purpose of this thread: To make a single thread that contains a lot of good ideas from the players, instead of asking the devs to read this thread about wings and that thread about glasses and a third (or the third-third ) about bunny ears.

Yours for greater efficiency!

Changes to Amulets for Season 2

in PvP

Immediately after the conclusion of PvP League Season 1, we removed several PvP amulets from rotation because they pushed gameplay in a direction that we weren’t happy with. These amulets were then replaced with four new four-stat amulets, none of which has either Toughness or Vitality as a primary stat.

In keeping with the intended trend of aligning four-stat amulets, we also are planning to remove the Vigilant Amulet from rotation for the start of Season 2, as it currently features a primary stat of 1050 Toughness in addition to its other stats.

We are posting these details now to let players know about this plan in advance of the start of Season 2 so that they can adjust their builds accordingly. PvP League Season 2 begins on February 23, 2016.

Why are forum post titles limited to 45 chara

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

But titles should be brief. They should encapsulate the content of the post, even in a general terms, such as “feedback on Season 2” or “Suggestions for Gliders.”

Not so great: My Adventures on a Deserted Island as the Result of Being Thrown Into the Sea When My Ship Had an Unfortunate Incident
Far better: Shipwrecked

You can post your thoughts in detail in the body of the thread, but the title should be concise and representative of the content of the post.

While we’re on the subject: Try “My feedback on [subject]” instead of speaking in absolutes. The suggested title is better because “This sucks” or “This is the best thing since sliced cheese” are, after all, entirely subjective.

That was the best 5 months I have had in Guild Wars 2.
When I was traveling on the new maps I was fascinated.
First step to Verdant Brink… It was stunning, it was gorgeous. When I listened new beautiful music… oh until today I back to hear it.

Not only maps and music are wonderful, but also Story.
I can see, You worked hard and You made very interesting Story.
Fantastic fight with Mordremoth. Fantastic event with great mechanics.
New ways to explore, new Legendaries.

And new update… I think that Shatterer is very hard now.
Fantastic mechanics, new creatures are splendidly.
Gliding in Tyria? Wow… It was the best what You can do for Players.
Good Job, Thanks for make Guild Wars 2 better.

Thanks, Arden. I’m glad that you’re having a blast. I think with the XP, and with the changes to central Tyria (like gliding and the refreshed Shatterer encounter) we have a lot of fun in our future.

More info for you: This is actually a more complicated issue that one might suspect when looking at it on the surface. There are multiple vendors in various locations, and each needs to be incorporated into the change.

But… we hope to have this fully integrated into testing mode (all vendors, all locations) in the next few days, and then, once verified, we’ll roll out a fix in the next reasonable build.

Hang in there, key buyers! We (nearly) have you covered!

Followed up on this today. I’ve seen discussion in my e-mail thread, but I’m hoping we’ll have a more defined date for this. Mind you, it’s not something that’s going to severely impact your ability to play the game. Meaning, this is an inconvenience and not a game-breaking bug. But we do intend to fix this, and I’ll see if we can get an anticipated fix date.

Hey folks,

You may have noticed that the day we air Community Showcase Live, I post a full “List of Honor” showing all the artists featured on that particular show. You can find that in a sticky thread here.

I post names in a regular format — such as “Fred the Bear” — but am aware that occasionally a person would prefer lower case or other formatting. And sometimes, what we see as the annotation on the art may not be the preferred name for the listing.

If we need to amend the listing, please let me know via PM. I’m happy to adjust spelling or formatting, or change the attribution… well, as long as you’re the artist in question, that is.

Ok, after a team discussion, we’re realized that this thread has veered so badly off topic that it’s pretty irretrievable. And, the thread is simply not necessary. There’s a whole forum for discussion of dungeons, and this is not and was never intended to be a chit-chat thread for off-topic conversations. We’re going to lock it and ask that you post in the forum itself.

The devs have read and will continue to read your feedback about dungeons. They are keenly aware of your feelings, and if you feel you’ve been shouting into the wind when you share ideas, I assure you that you have not been and are not even today. Constructive feedback is valued, and no one is avoiding this forum or this subject, even if we’re not actively engaged in talking about it at this particular time.

Feel free to share your constructive suggestions and feedback. Obviously, comments like “It’s dead, Jim” aren’t nearly as helpful as comments that give substantive details of what changes you’d like to see, and how you’d suggest we implement them.

Thank you for understanding.

Sorry, we seem to have failed to notice that this thread diverted into Off-TopicLand a while back.

Yes, despite assurance from forum members to the contrary, there is a topic for this thread. Why, it’s in the very title: Dungeons!

The mods will do a little tidy-up because honestly, I expect “What’s your favorite pizza topping” or “Who’s going to win the Oscars™” next and we really don’t want to go there.

So… got any more thoughts about Guild Wars 2 Dungeons?

Just wanted you to know that I’m following up on this fix. I also believed that it would roll on February 9th and GibBits points out—and I’m pretty sure that the lack of mention in the notes for February 9th confirms—that the fix wasn’t introduced. Which means it’ll be good to know when it’s slated to get fixed.

I’ll update as soon as I have the info. Thanks for your patience.

On a personal note, I wish I hadn’t read through the notes because, with the addition or reintroduction of mewing, I have discovered that I now require every bloomin’ kitty in the game!

You sure can report. Submit a ticket to CS using the Support button at the top of this page. Give exact spelling of the character names. Even better, if you can give the display names (Like Fred.1234) that helps. If it’s a guild, CS needs to know which people were involved, as indicting an entire guild for the actions of individual members isn’t something we’d want to do.

You normally cannot attach screenshots to the initial ticket, but if CS needs or wants them, they’ll let you know how to send them.

I hope that helps you!

What happened to the Forum Specialists?

in WvW

Posted by: Gaile Gray

Previous

Gaile Gray

ArenaNet Communications Manager

Next

I’ll answer the questions, happy to do so. (Even if your presentation is a little OTT in the salty department. )

ArchonWing informed us in November that he was not going to be able to continue serving. We still had up a “We’re seeking a WvW specialist” note, and we’ve been open to new applicants during the entire run of the program. However, AW’s tag was still in place and that seemed it might place untoward pressure on him to continue in a role that he’d determined did not fit his schedule. He does continue to contribute to the forums, which of course is good.

I sent a second letter of thanks to AW on Friday to express our appreciation for his service and to apologize for not having corrected the tag situation. He wrote back and seemed fully to understand the situation.

You can be assured that the information that is submitted by every Forum Specialist is routed to senior members of the specific team(s) to which it pertains. We’ve seen each of those mailing lists expand over time, so the feedback is reaching an ever-growing number of devs. In addition, many times those senior members send to specific people on their teams for assessment, review, consideration, etc. We, as a team, respond to each report to let the specialist that we have received it and that it has been routed. (And of course a specialist can follow up with us should the need arise. )

Oh, and you can also be assured that kissing kitten (and yet, I wrote “small cat” here ) is not a perquisite for serving as a Forum Specialist. The reports reflect — as they should — the specialist’s honest feedback after a full and hopefully neutral review of the community in question. Good specialist feedback runs the gamut from "thumbs up " to “this isn’t good” to “there’s some good and some bad here.” Our major “ask” is for a balanced report, so that we’re not receiving “one player’s opinion.” I’m sure you can understand why this is important. Our specialists all seem to keep that in mind, which we greatly appreciate.

So, what’s happening with the program?

  • We are looking for volunteers, sure! See the FSP thread for more information.
  • We intend to outline our FSP needs more formally when the timing is better, particularly for WvW. At that time, the outreach will be more visible, as will our plans for WvW. By waiting, we allow potential volunteers to best consider if applying for the position fits their schedules and desires.
  • John Corpening recently mentioned changes coming to WvW during a Live Stream presentation. Yep, they are. Nope, sorry, no info yet. But yes, we definitely appreciate that you’re eager for details and we’ll share them as soon as we are able to do so (as John said).

I hope that clears up the questions. If you have any additional questions, you may PM me. If you wish to apply as a Forum Specialist for any forum subset, you’re always welcome to do so. Again, see the thread linked at the top of this post for info on the program and the application processes.

Thanks!

GWAMM Title gone?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Just a note that the bug originally reported in this thread was a momentary glitch and GWAMM titles are not randomly disappearing. I can’t account for the strange in-game mail that you received, DoctorDing, but I’ll ask around in case that’s a problem. The main point is, the title is intact and you’re good to go.

I’m going to leave the thread open for discussion of the title, no problem with that at all. I will make sure this notes shows up near the top, though, so everyone knows there’s not an issue with the title.

Oh, and for everyone: If an issue with an earned title does arise, a ticket to CS would be a good idea if it doesn’t resolve itself relatively quickly, as it did for the OP.

Scribing Costs

A Message from the Guild Team:

As many of you are aware, the cost of scribing is really expensive and some prices don’t make sense. Scribing is more expensive now than we meant it to be, and although we expected prices to be higher while the economy was shifting due to the launch of Heart of Thorns, the economy is now stabilizing, yet Scribing costs are still too expensive. We are looking at how to best balance Scribing by making multiple changes to the system.

Upcoming Changes

Make the prices more reasonable. Not all scribing recipes are overpriced and some of the “cooler” recipes, like Uzolan, are objectives that guilds enjoy working towards. However, we are aware the some prices are far more expensive than we ever intended them to be and they need to be adjusted.

Design recipes that make sense. There are recipes for small decorations that cost more than the bigger and cooler decorations, and this just feels weird! We want to make sure that scribing recipes make sense and that the effort and value you put into them doesn’t feel like a waste of your time, effort, and resources.

Fix illogical recipes. Several recipes require components that are not unlocked for you until you have achieved a higher level of scribing. These are mistakes and we plan to fix these recipes.

Slivers and pigments! We are aware that slivers are expensive and are a major reason that scribing is in its present state. Currently we are discussing how we want to balance slivers and pigments and make sure they don’t cause scribing to be so expensive.

Overall these are the issues we are focusing on to bring scribing more in line with where we want it to be. We don’t have a release date for these changes yet, but we plan to keep everyone in the loop as we move forward with these changes. We encourage you to keep posting feedback on scribing!

Post on Reddit (for anyone still having problems).

Dornsinger
UPDATE: Guys, Tech said there was an update made, however, the change needs to get out to the datacenter, and your browser cache needs to refresh.
So, if you have not yet, please try to log out of the game (closing it fully), clear your browser cache and try to log back in.
The cache can be found at: * Located: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp * There are a number of gw2cache folders located here. * These folders are the web browser cache for the in-game browser that runs the trading post and gem store. * Deleting these Cache folders is like clearing a browser cache for the trading post and gem store.

Please note that as I mentioned above, the programmer researching this issue did not feel that flushing the cache would be an effective means of clearing this issue.

Ok, this thread started out with one person’s opinion of what he would like to be given. For free. In a game that, today, has no cost to entry. I understand it’s (properly used ) human nature to ask for more. But what you need to play the game on a equal playing field is not influenced by what you want to have. And the sales of items that are fully optional is an entirely reasonable business model.

The thread then devolved into insults about language, spelling, grammar, and syntax.

Opinion expressed. Comments received. Derailed. Conversation closed.

Update:

One of our programmers gave this a good look, and there was an outage earlier today that may have delayed delivery. But at this time, all queued or pending orders have been delivered.

If you have issues, please let us know, but this appears to have resolved as of this morning.

Hey all,

We’re checking into a possible issue with the Trading Post. It would be helpful if you provide the following information:

  • Your location (geographical)
  • Your game world (server)
  • The last time you successfully used the TP
  • When you first noticed an issue
  • Specifically, what items or currencies were involved?

Skill Changes: Coalescence of Ruin and Scorched Earth

There’s a lot of feedback to read, so please don’t mind if I ask this: Do you have specific areas of concern? Also, did you post in the major feedback thread? I don’t mind asking about this, if I’m able to do so. But a general “it’s broken” isn’t as good as solid evidence.

I am not Oeps, but the general consensus on the mesmer side was that the “bunker” build was the only viable way to play pre patch. That was rightfully toned down, but mesmers were essentially given nothing in return. With the release of HoT the previously viable builds have fallen far behind the Elite Specialisations and what remains of the Chronomancer post-26th simply can’t keep up.

There is no real “specific area” of concern, it’s just that each individual change adds up to a horrifying total, essentially like you’re trying to kill the disease, the patient and the next of kin all in one go: You halve the effectiveness of Alacrity (which one must reasonably assume all Chronomancer cooldowns were balanced around, ignoring the group buff aspect), you remove Quickness affecting stomps/rezzing, you effectively remove Well of Precognition, you buff classes/builds which were previously known for hard-countering mesmers and you fail to provide any reasonable compensation to more offense-oriented mesmer builds which happened to rely on any of these aspects all at the same time!

Not even debating the validity of any of these changes individually it is clear most of them were focused on eliminating the chrono-bunker, so one has to question why they were not implemented one after another and only after the previous change had clearly failed to achieve its intended goal.

Then there is also the emotional aspect of being told there were many more changes than those outlined in the “preview”, then getting nothing any of the experienced players would consider a substantial improvement (this one explicitly is about emotions and personal opinions and actual hard data might state the opposite, but the players don’t have access to those)

For a more on-topic example relevant to WvW, look at the changes made to Confusion application via Glamours: this achieved much the same effect as CoR (killing huge numbers of players at long range with little to no warning), but it a) could still be counteracted to some extent, b) cost the mesmer almost their entire build to pull off and c) was more or less REMOVED FROM THE GAME as soon as it was “noted to be problematic”. Again mesmers were given nothing to play a similar role (albeit weaker) in WvW even until now. Revenants meanwhile can still use their ONE skill much like before, and less than a week after the patch some aspects of the change are being looked into as “unintended”. How long did it take for Temporal Curtain to get looked at again?

Thank you, this is very helpful.

A message from the Skills Team:

The current behavior was an unintended consequence introduced with the 1/26 build.

Hello Gaile,

Without being sarcastic i would like to let you know about another unintended consequence with the 1/26 patch.

Its the mesmer part of the update. Its pretty broken atm and its in a sad state in pvp.
It would be really nice if you can let us know if someone is looking into that part.

Thanks anyway!

Ps. i really loved your frog in gw1

(And thanks. Froggie is doing well in Old Tyria, but I hope someday to travel with him in the Tyria of today.)

“Hey fellow Tyrians! We’d like to let you know the skills team is working on changes Coalescence of Ruin and Scorched Earth so that different players using those skills on a foe will each be able to hit. The current behavior was an unintended consequence introduced with the 1/26 build.

We’re implementing some background changes now and going to test them out as soon as our internal builds allow. It may still be some time before we’re able to get these changes to live, but they’re coming!"

Update on a Shatterer issue from Game Designer Andrew Gray:

There is an issue with the breakbar. I’m working on a fix for it, but since it will require a large group for testing I don’t have an ETA at this time for when it will go live.

We’re sorry about any inconvenience that you experienced with the bug fixes and related restarts. We had some significant issues that we needed to address. Better to have a forced restart — as irritating as it may be — than have players unable to join the game, or locked on an endless loading screen, or having their refrigerator start spewing ice cubes whenever they enter Rata Sum.

Ok, I joke about the latter.

But seriously, we are sorry, it’s just a necessary thing to make the experience better for everyone.
