Whoa, I just came across the post, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it earlier. I love your work — you make wonderful music!
Can you tell me which pieces were specifically inspired by Guild Wars 2? I’m always looking for pieces to feature on our fan art live stream — Community Showcase Live — and I’d like to choose a relevant piece for a future show.
Thanks!
Hey Skaven — I’ve always admired your work, it’s great that you were on the stream to show what you do and a pleasure to welcome you to the Partner Program!
I’m going to tuck in an image in CSL this month, too. The only challenge is picking just ONE!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Please share your constructive feedback in this thread.
Those are great fun! I love the different personality that you can see in the images.
Love these both! You have a very nice “touch” with your pencil sketch and the colorized version is great, too!
The next episode of CSL is on Wednesday, July 19th. I’m curating art now, and as always, there are more fine pieces than we can showcase, but we’ll do our best to cover a lot of them!
Hope you can join us on Twitch or YouTube. We may also be on Facebook this time, too!
Here you go. I chose a few angles for you to work with.
Ravel did such a great job on your character’s portrait! What’s the charr’s name?
These are fun, Sekhir!
That’s terrific! I love the way it looks, and somehow I just know it was yummy, too!
(I’m amused by the notion that you painted with a barbecue brush. That makes it even more interesting.)

On July 11th, we released improvements to our Gem Store, as mentioned in a blog post on the subject. We’d love to hear your feedback about the new, improved Gem Store.
Please share your thoughts in this thread!
Too cool! Thank you for showing us those! I’m looking forward to seeing your future creations, too!
~wipes eyes~
~blows nose~
That is positively and absolutely BEAUTIFUL! You are very talented, on many levels. Thank you for sharing your creation!
Love “Vacation,” too. It’s subtle and very sweet!
Hey guys,
I just wanted to point to this thread because if you haven’t seen Roam’s work before, he does a splendid job with the card game, and I think y’all will have a marvelous time with it, either playing or just admiring the way it’s all put together.
Go check it out!
Here are a few updates for you:
Hey folks,
I just split out these comments (up above) because someone correctly pointed out that they were mistakenly merged into the running thread about Gemstore items on offer.
If I mis-un-merged, please feel free to comment back in that Gemstore Items thread, too! I want to give a change for this discussion to run apart from the item listings, so it makes sense — at least at this look — to have this a separate thread.
Thanks, and apologies for the mix-up!

There seems to be a question, and I will clarify with Jeremy. However, I believe that the gift still would be sent to people who successfully completed a boss encounter. I didn’t think that the gift would be sent to anyone who entered a raid, no matter the activity or the outcome. But again, I will check with Jeremy to be sure everyone knows the details. Thanks.
Same raid group as int randInt return, cleared two raid wings (SF and SP) while the bug was active. 5/6 bosses gave loot to everyone, final boss (Matthias) dropped no loot for anyone. We killed him again and received loot, so didn’t end up losing any rewards, and as a result I’m not terribly upset, but according to your criteria should technically have received the make-up chest. I haven’t seen anything yet.
So yeah, something was definitely fouled up. Hopefully throwing some extra data on the pile will help solve it.
W8 dont you state here that in the end you got loot from the boss? Or the second kill was on a diff reset? If yes you shouldnt be eligible for a gift but data is always data
In the end, I got loot from each boss that week, it just took more than one successful kill due to hitting the bug. I am, as a result, a person “who participated in at least one successful raid boss encounter between the patch on June 20 and the hotfix on June 22”, which was the only stated requirement for the compensation gift, so according to my understanding I’m in the eligible group, despite not losing anything other than a boss kill’s worth of time and effort.
Either I am eligible and didn’t receive rewards (which is a problem) or I am not eligible but was told I was (which is a problem) so either way there’s something to fix.
Yours is an interesting case, Entrea, but it seems that it can be reviewed and resolved. From what I understand, it will take a bit of time to sort out the eligible participants, but we are well aware that there were many more than then those who received the initial distribution. That became clear to me when I read the anecdotal details, where X in a party got a gift, and Y did not, but all other factors appeared to be the same. Which is why we were actively discussing the reports and why Jeremy was reviewing this situation over several hours today.
If you read Jeremy’s post, you’ll probably get a glimpse of why this was so complex, and I’m sure you’ll be happy to know this will be addressed for those who did not receive a gift when they were qualified to do so.

lul anet is making me feel bad and i didnt even raid that titme to come here and complain. Thanks for the extra insight btw @Jeremy Brown it was very nice to get a bigger picture of the issue. Hope the rest of the guys get their gift soon.
It’s ok, zealex — you can come around any time and not complain, too! We’re not picky!
Seriously, I appreciate Jeremy’s insights, too, and am so happy that this is going to be resolved for everyone!
I understand the frustration completely. Rest assured there will be no under the rug sweeping going on. As I mentioned, I believe there will be more information coming although I don’t know what the timeframe will be for that. We greatly appreciate your patience while we investigate the matter.
Thank you for all these reports. The details you gave were very helpful! We’ll get some info back to you as soon as we can.
Thanks again!
Just to be clear, Liam and Emo:
Did you mean some got the boss chest? Or some got the gift distribution that came after the bug was fixed?
Thanks for that info.
Not everyone in my group got loot for sloth and Matthias. Some of the members in my group had killed sloth on the day prior getting loot and a few people (not them) got loot from Matthias. I do not have the resources available to me to show my API history for bosses killed and to show that I didn’t get loot from them but I do run a dps meter and have logs enabled. I can show that my group killed the bosses but I can’t show that my group didn’t get the loot besides one person who never got the boss kills that week due to not being there when we reran wing 2 later. Using raidheroes and the logs from the damage meter, I can show that my group had successfully killed both Matthias and sloth. Albeit it did take 3 tries each.
http://i.imgur.com/6jMTrJt.jpg
The link shows snips of raidheroes showing time & date along with a successful kill. There is also the file path to the htlm (raidheroes file) shown the top part of the browser. Which shows where these came from and they’re from the original log files that were used to create the raidheroes file. My group and I fit under the criteria from the information given to us.
Date:
6/20/2017
Time:
4:50 PM PST
5:17 PM PST
Bosses:
Slothasoar
Matthias Gabrel
Everything was cleared but we did not go back to those bosses that night.
Great recordkeeping and info! Thank you.
I contacted customer support the day the patch went live but did not get any response (or compensation) yet. Did the list not include any people that played on the old version while the patched version was live already? We killed Slothasaur but did not get any loot that day.
Gosh, I don’t know about that, Rabe. So you got notification there was a new build, but being in the middle of battle, you elected to stay on the old build, right? I imagine you completed the encounter within the hour, but being on the old build… heck, I just don’t know how that impacts things, but it’s certainly worth asking about!
I’m asking about this, in case there’s some oddity in the data that might have resulted in eligible people not making the list. From what I was hearing as the review was being done, the parameters sounded really good to me, and in fact erred on the side of generosity. But I take on board you have questions, and I’ll see if there’s anything that could have resulted in a few … what would I call them?.. false negatives?
Thanks for your patience and the information you’re sharing.
Our Analytics Team is awesome, and they’re going to take a look.
Edited to correct: All distributions have been made, and no further will be offered. I don’t want to tell you to contact CS, only to have you be informed of that very fact.
The data was reviewed very carefully, and it was triple-checked for accuracy. The original list was actually expanded, as I mentioned above. For those who feel they should have qualified for the gift, it seems to me there must have been a factor — presumably one that was variant depending on circumstances — that meant they did not qualify.
Edit to the Edit: As I mentioned below, the team is taking a look into possible edge cases. Thanks for sharing the specifics.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
To update you on the status of the gift distribution, we first want to let you know that all distributions have been made. Here are some details about how the recipients of the distribution were determined:
To qualify for the distribution, a player had to participate in a successful raid boss encounter during the period when the bug was live. On any given day—including the hours during which the bug was live—not all raiding parties enter into boss battles and, of course, not all boss battles end successfully.
In the case of a party that successfully completed a raid boss encounter, all members of the party were sent a gift, regardless of which boss battle the individual player was involved in. The devs chose to send gifts on a group basis rather than on an individual basis because that was the more generous outcome. As you can tell from the information above, gifts were not sent to every single raid participant who was active during the period in question because those involved in unsuccessful raid boss encounters would not have been affected by the bug. Only those who were in a raiding party that successfully completed a boss encounter, and therefore were impacted by the bug, were sent a gift.
EDIT TO ADD: As you can see further on in this thread, all gifts had not been sent, and we are working on getting gifts to the others who also contributed to a successful raid boss encounter. Apologies for any confusion, and thanks for your patience as we get those additional gifts out to players!

Don’t forget to /report such instances (ideally, via a support ticket, so you can include an explanation).
Yes, please. Gamelogs are not the be-all and end-all of knowledge, but reporting is a good idea and it may result in action on those who are misbehaving.
I submitted a ticket this morning and got my ascended chest within 15 min. So if you haven’t received yours yet, I would suggest trying that.
I would suggest that everyone hold off on submitting a ticket and be absolutely sure that they qualify. It’s not just “participating in a raid” but “participating in a successful raid” within a given timeframe. I’m concerned that players may think they were on a Raid map in that ~48 hour period, and therefore they qualify for a gift, where in fact there’s a higher bar to qualify for the gift.
I’m discussing this with CS, who is handling the distributions, and will update when I have more information. If you could kindly hold off on tickets until then, that would be appreciated.
Guys, this has gotten quite heated, so I think it’s time to wrap this up.
A wealth of experience has told me that dealing with authorized reps is best. This applies to where I choose to I buy my games right down to where I choose to buy my socks.
My unmuzzled, non-legally-regulated advice ~sorry, couldn’t resist! ~ is to choose your seller wisely.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
cd-keys.com are not a scam website they actually sell keys for consoles as well as pc. They have never once sold me a dud key and all of the keys I’ve ever purchased have been legit. I’ve not bought for this game specifically mostly for my console but they are definitely not a scam.
I’m happy you have had positive experiences. From what someone wrote, the site is akin to an eBay or Amazon, with individuals making sales. If that’s true, then there are a lot of variables on how a transaction concludes. Having been involved in trying to resolve issues, or communicate about risks in the past, I take a conservative approach to any seller that is not on the authorized list.
I cannot locate them on the authorized retailer list, and that’s a concern. In the past, key-sellers who were not on the list sometimes did not properly fulfill their sales. In a few memorable incidents, retailers took a whole lot of money from a significant number of people and gave them used keys in return. It was very sad, and of course we are not able to give refunds or replace the codes, because we never saw the money. In one such case, the retailer was actually a third-party, and he had to refund the money and then hope for a refund from the company from whom he bought the codes.
The bottom line is that you’re taking a chance with sales from unauthorized sellers or resellers. I would highly recommend shopping only with an authorized seller on the list you can find here and then use the toggle to find your country. Or you can buy directly from us here.

For how long has this been going on? Just today or multiple days?
I believe there have been intermittent incidents over the last several days.

Doesn’t matter Anet doesn’t update anything in wvw anyways good suggestions or otherwise so who cares. Not to mention I have no idea why wvwers would object to an update to auto loot that would result in getting more loot. Especially when all wvwers complained about for years was no loot/rewards…. but whatever lol.
This is one of those suggestions, where if Anet just changed it so you got loot no matter what every wvw would say, “we like this” or “good job Anet more loot” but because I’m suggesting it, it’s an absolutely horrible idea, for some reason which nobody can figure out.
I mean at best it’s more loot, at worst it’s irrelevant, but you know keep up the good fight.
People object because it encourages people to lay dead on the ground instead of releasing and running back to the fight.
right….. so loot auto going into your inventory = you are encouraged to stay dead? Im not seeing the connection. Seems completely unrelated to me.
I can’t recall ever playing a game where, when you died (essentially when you failed in some way), you still automatically were given every bit of the loot you would have acquired if you stayed alive, contributed to the fight, got ressed by a comrade, or used other mechanics (like WP) to rejoin the battle. Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but shouldn’t death have a death penalty of some sort? It’s modest enough, with the mechanics in place, but should it be zero?
Yes, I do believe that such functionality would discourage active play. “I’m dead. I’ll just lie here and gather all my goodies while I go order a pizza. Doesn’t cost me a thing to be inactive — I’ll still get 100% of the loot either way.” Does that even make sense? Or am I misunderstanding the suggestion?
Ya I mean right? The downed state isn’t enough of a soft cap on death already that we need auto-loot while dead too? Is good to see someone at anet draw the line in the sand when it comes to introducing more hand-holding mechanics.
Well, Justine, I have to mention I’m not really in a position to draw any sort of line in the sand, because I’m not a developer and I wouldn’t be making decisions on this sort of thing. But as a player I kept scratching my head at this thread until I decided to give a personal opinion on the matter.
From days of long ago — well, in a gaming sense, anyway — I came to expect a death penalty. I came to respect it. I treked across Dereth to retrieve my best item, when the #^$%^@)$ Lugians took it off my corpse and tossed it aside. I braved Diablo in the catacombs below Tristram to get back all the stuff that spilled out around me when that beastie bested me. To have essentially nothing bad happen — to get all the goods around me whether I live or die — just doesn’t make sense to me.
Maybe I RP it in my head. Kill monsters + live to tell about it = get rewards afterwards. Maybe I don’t see it as aggregate acquisitions while I’m fighting, but an end-combat reward, picking over the battleground after my victory? I don’t know, but it makes sense to me that I would potentially get less when I fail!
That confuses me, Jayne. I’m suggesting that by staying alive you get more. That by dying, you have some degree of (potential) loss. So there is a reason to stay live, right? If by dying you get all the goods, why try to stay alive? Are we saying the same thing, but differently?
We are saying the same thing.
Except I’m suggesting you get zero if you die, as you mentioned.
Maaaaybe the off chance to loot if you hustle back to where you died, but on a decay timer.
Ahh, good. I thought as much, but wanted to be sure.

I can see why people would post them here, so Anet would actually do something about them. Same for players hacking, if you report in game/support nothing happens, but if you report on the forums, action happens whether its the kind you want or not.
The only “action” that happened here was Gaile had to take time out of her day – and had to drag in ArenaNet engineers – in order to investigate a spurious claim.
People debunked the claim both here & on reddit. The OP (and a few others) currently choose to believe what they believe despite evidence to the contrary
I haven’t seen anything further from the OP or anyone else on this subject, but everyone can rest assured we’re not going to turn a blind eye to any report. I invite the player or players who are concerned about this — again — to submit the details to our team so that we can look at the actual, detailed, incontrovertible game logs to investigate this claim.
I was engaged in a detailed and lengthy conversation on this matter with at least 3 different devs, and I know they did a full investigation of this matter that showed this was a mistaken perception on the part of the players, not an exploit. But with dates, times, player name, and specific items, the team will look further. Sadly, they have not been given that opportunity.
I can see why people would post them here, so Anet would actually do something about them. Same for players hacking, if you report in game/support nothing happens, but if you report on the forums, action happens whether its the kind you want or not.
You are mistaken in what you claim. Exploits sent to Exploits@Arena.Net — the proper place to report potential or possible exploits — are reviewed immediately by a team of members who investigate the validity of the claim. Cheaters and exploiters reported through the in-game mechanism (choosing “Botting” as the reason) are investigated. The fact that action is not taken on a particular player does not point to INaction on the part of the team, but to a discovery that what was reported was not cheating or exploiting.
There’s a second way to notify us if there’s an issue, and that’s through a report to Support by clicking the word “Support” at the top of this page, then “Submit a ticket” to provide the details. Reviews are made. Action is taken. But only when it’s the appropriate, reasoned action. Posting a possible exploit on the forums could — if it were actually an exploit — be damaging to players, to the game economy. No one wants that, and there are other means to contact us that work better, faster, and more safely.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Drake, you probably should pick just one thing you’re asking for. A full on shopping list like the above might work in a family Christmas gift list where people want a selection so you can be surprised by the specific gift you get, but in this thread it comes across as over-reaching.
Also I’m fairly certain you won’t get any bank tabs, storage expanders, or anything else that has a capped amount per account, as those can’t be gifted lest someone receive more than they can use. You can check this by finding them in the gem store; if there’s no gift box by the purchase options, no one can buy them for you.
I hope you do get something you’d been dreaming of. Just please help the kind donators by narrowing it down! (Also if anyone has already given you anything at all on the list, probably under the rules of this thread you need to note that in your post and close out your request).
Thanks for reminding the forum member of the spirit and intentions of this thread. That’s one post, and normally one item folks.
I have removed the lengthy list of requests and let the user know to post in conformance with the normal threads.
All of the ones listed are great, and they have a different theme and presentation, so of a different style. So you might want to sample around and see which one suits you. I recommend any of the podcasts listed — they’re well done!
Hi,
First of all, I want to explain that our moderators removed this thread to allow me to review it. We don’t want any exploit reports on the forums, to prevent their abuse and the subsequent negative impact on players if they are found to be true.
As to this report…
Thanks for reporting your concerns. Several of the developers have been taking a look at this, and here’s some info for you. Forgive me if you know some of this, but for thoroughness I’m going to make several points here:
Now, if with the details above you believe that there is an issue, it would be super helpful if you could share some information with us to allow us to look into this thoroughly. Can you replicate the experience of buying lower than the lowest Sale Order? If so, please submit a ticket to Customer Support (click “Support” at the top of this page, then “Submit a ticket” to do so) and include: the date, time, time zone, item purchased, and your user information. CS will relay this information to the dev team and they then can take a peek at the records and see what’s up.
Thanks again.
Terms of Service
In fact, we have a User Agreement. Just to be clear, some call it EULA, some ToS, but it’s actually a UA. (The references are often used interchangeably — at the core it’s the policy document to which you agree when you join our game.)
I just thought of what may be a happy solution: We could support the posting of the video in the profession section, if it related to playing the profession, but house a thread that links to various videos here on Community Creations.
Possibly best of both worlds… ?
I’d like to continue the discussion, because I feel we can come up with a good solution to the question of video placement.
I think there’s a difference between “playing PvE with my Ranger” or “wandering across Tyria as a Necromancer” that would make them different than "a guide to playing [profession]. If the profession is only incidental, it seems best to include it here, in the Community Creations Sub-forum. But if the profession is the very core of the video — the foundation on a tutorial about a specific class — then it should be housed in that profession’s sub-forum.
I’m trying to find a way to guide the moderators, many of whom work hours outside my own, so I’m not on hand to take a quick review and confirm their decision. I am persuaded that, as you suggest, we should not have a policy that says “No videos in a profession sub-forum.” But what about the equivalent of a travelogue as opposed to a guide? Would a “leave ’em where the creator put ’em” policy address that?
What are your further thoughts on the difference between the two types of videos? The forums are here for you and we want to do what’s best for forum members, whether they are video creators or viewers.
Thoughts?
A message from the PvP team:
We have received many reports this season about match manipulation both here on the forums and via in-game reports. Our investigation revealed that a few players were sharing a handful of accounts, which is clearly against our User Agreement.
While the investigation into this is still ongoing, at this time we have enough evidence to take action. As a result, we’ve decided to give dishonor to the offending accounts for the rest of the season. As our investigation continues, further action may be taken should we feel it appropriate.
Oh hey, a little update for your folks: This is a manual process and it was started about when I posted. However, it will take some time to finish up. By “manual” I mean that each account has to be sent an individual mail, it’s not something we can do as a mass distribution.
So please allow some time, and if you don’t see your mail for a day or so, don’t worry — we’ll get it there! Thanks for your patience!
Thanks for the kind words and approbation. I thought it was super nice, too, and am glad you approve.
And RD — if you killed KC twice, in that short a period of time, you got your own reward just with that shiny glow of accomplishment!
A recent bug related to raid loot drops was confirmed and corrected with a build on June 22. We’ve reviewed our data for the active period of the bug, and are making a one-time distribution to those who participated in at least one successful raid boss encounter between the patch on June 20 and the hotfix on June 22. Unfortunately, we cannot provide the loot that may have been lost, but we hope you accept your choice of a piece of Ascended armor and some Transmutation Charges as a gesture of goodwill. Please check your in-game mail after this afternoon, and open a message sent from the Guild Wars 2 Team.
We apologize for any inconvenience the bug caused, and are happy to get this resolved in a positive way for those involved.
