With short CC duration and proper class design diminishing returns is not needed.
DR is a band aid in other games that implement CC only for PvE.
No DR is used to control how much CC you can apply in a given time. It isn’t a Band-Aid for anything. People think of DR from WoW and are taking that it needs to be applied in GW2 the same. But the CC’s are shorter, so yes it would be different in GW2 vs. WoW.
A couple easy fixes off the top of my head are:
- CC’s such as immobile or Cripple can only stack to 5 seconds before being reapplied.
- Gaining 3 seconds of stability after getting up from a knock down.
This would give someone a chance to survive a CC chain and still make CC’s viable.
Stun Break skills are sometimes on cool down like “Save Yourself” on Guardians which is 48 seconds with the trait and 60 seconds regular cool down. To long of a cool down on a skill to break stun. Also some classes get more than others when it comes to Stability and breaking CC. This really isn’t fair to the classes that lose out on having such skills like “Stand Your Ground”
Also with Traits and Skills that remove cripple and other CC’s, you remove cripple and it gets re-applied stacking in duration with no way to remove it. That is broken CC mechanics right there.
Specific builds are used to break CC which aren’t even that good anyway in large scale battles like 40v40 in Wv3. With that being said, why should I have to roll 1 maybe 2 specific builds just be ale to break CC. I shouldn’t have to revolve my builds around CC and lose out on skills I would like to play with for a mechanic. That’s just ridiculous.
I don’t see DR and CC game breaking in WvW compared to the other things listed. CC death chains do happen from time to time, but not to the point where it makes the game unplayable in Wv3; sPvP it’s a whole other story. All I’m saying is how CC is applied and managed as a mechanic should be looked at and tweaked a little.
As you concede defeat by providing no answer and no argument I’m done here. You may continue your inaccurate claims unhindered.

You’re condescending and you do not even back anything you say up with a shred of actually argument. I’ve given you the tools you need to counter things, tools I’ve personally tested and can guarantee are effective.
Like I said you proved my point in your own post and links lol! Not my fault you aren’t equipped to understand that.
So do you have counterpoints so that I can specifically dismantle each argument with readily available facts or do you simply wish to cast dispersions again in the attempt to discredit me via unsubstantiated mudslinging from an imaginary position of superiority?

Portals are fine and working as intended!
It needs to be a WvW achievement not a 100g I fail button, so that people who get it have done Wv3 enough to know what to do with it. I’ve seen countless commanders who have the icon and just wreck the whole map with their bad strategies and opinions. Also making this account bound is needed and making a commander icon for PvE so the casuals won’t feel left out is needed. The PvE one can be paid for with gold because it’s PvE and no one cares, but the Wv3 one needs to be worked seriously.
@ Ralathar – I’m not even going to get into how you just proved my argument even more with your post, and I’ll let you think about why if you ever get there.
@ Gisei – Nope I’ll just leave it at your not equipped to argue the issues at hand. From your post you obviously don’t do enough Wv3 to really argue the problems. Nothing personal.

About the stuns it’s not like it happens all the time, it happens about 5 – 10% of the time, but I also Wv3 all the time. The problem is the stacking issue more then anything else. For example I’ve been crippled and immobilized for 10 – 15 seconds before due to people stacking CC. This isn’t really coordinated, but it happens randomly most of the time. CC that long is to much it needs to have a mechanic that prevents stacks of CC. Like 5 second crippled and then it stops stacking, and then you can’t be CC’d for 3 seconds. Just an example, so don’t go throwing theories on the time. There is a few times where I’ve been knocked down… Take a few seconds to get up… Knocked down again, and then launched and killed. During the 8-10 seconds of the CC duration I had a total loss of character control and had no way out of it but death. This type of game play in PvP has never worked before and will never work in Guild Wars 2. If you play sPvP you will see this issue more frequently if not all the time.
Jumping puzzle is an opinion more then a issue. My problem with the puzzle is that people will do the puzzle and we will lose nodes while 20 people were needed but wanted to do the puzzle instead. The real problem is people like to sit in the puzzle and just talk… I’ve seen up to 30-40 people sitting in a puzzle just messing around. This takes away from the player numbers needed to be effective in WvW. What’s even more fun, is when people are hanging out in the puzzle they like to QQ in chat about losing objectives or nodes on the map. I don’t think it should be taken out of the game, but it needs to be its own instance. If you want to do the jumping puzzle that is fine, but you get ported into it and you either port out to LA or back into Wv3 if there is no queue. It’s what’s fair to everyone else that wants to actually play Wv3.
I’m not going to get into why classes are un-balanced, it’s just a lot of explaining and I could create a whole thread just on that alone. If you do sPvP and Wv3 enough, you’ll see the problems for yourself.
Never said Orbs need to be taken out of the game, just switch the out-manned buff with the orb buff problem solved. Another way would be each server has an 5% buff and when one server has a fraction over the other servers the weakest server gets an additional 5% buff. If both servers have a certain amount more players then the weakest server that server gets a 15% buff. There are a lot of ways to work this, all I know it isn’t working now.
PvE mobs… There just filler and watching Thieves use them to stealth and run away is ridiculous, or my personal favorite is when my Short Bow Auto Attacks 3 no Aggressive mobs and now I have 4 things to kill. The mobs just need to go or be drastically lessened.
- Also wanted to add to the list healing and support specs should be getting more bags and XP for supporting their allies. If someone casts a heal on someone or a Support AoE buff they have a chance to get a bag. Either way, something needs to be done to help motivate people to be supportive. As it is now, people just want to roll DPS specs to kill stuff for loot. I just think it’s funny instead of having the Holy Trinity… We now just have DPS!
- Auto Drop bags into inventory is another one, this was discussed before and stated this could be done at this time because of some coding issues in the BWE forums. This is an issue and we should get an answer on this.

I wanted to make a Heal/Support build but wanted to know if there was caps on stats in this game like WoW. Say for instance in WoW if you wanted to raid a certain dungeon you would need a soft cap of say 800 +Healing and a hard cap of 1200 +Healing. I wanted to go as much healing and toughness/vitality gear as I could, but didn’t want to get to much h/t/v where I wasting points. So how much Healing/toughness/vitality should I get all around. Thanx for the advice, also have my stats listed below.
Valor: 20
Honor: 30
Virtues: 20

Orb buffs need to stop giving buffs to combat stats. Its absurdly bad design to give the winning team even more strength.
Agreed, majority of the time the winning server has the orbs and with 15% to stats is just hilarious. I don’t understand how someone would think that was viable imo opinion. Like it has been said a million times. The orb and the outmanned buff should be switched.

Try taking skills that are not damage based as well lol.
There is no skill or trait in the game that can break a CC chain of death from multiple players. Another… Maybe you should know what you’re talking about before you post.
Getting chained knocked back or immobilized along with other CC just makes you useless until you die. Maybe if you were in PvP more you would know that! LOL
Some more stuff to add to the list of fail:
- Thief Perma Stealth
- Underwater Downed State, actually downed state can just go altogether in PvP.
So it’s been two months and it’s getting older than ever. When is Anet going to start fixing the real issues of WvW:
- Clipping
- Lag/Skill Lag
- Class Balance
- Diminishing Returns on CC Abilities
- Orbs
- Taking the Jumping Puzzle and PvE content out of WvW
- And a lot of other things that need to be fixed, but these are the most important.
Just wondering, because all I’ve heard is all talk with no real plan on fixing some of the issue. Like the most important Clipping and Lag!

@OP The patch notes are referring to a bug that made all but pets invisible NOT the other invisible issues that we’ve all been having.
Hopefully that problem gets fixed soon, but I remember saying that a month ago…
just pretend they dont exist and never go there. no one is forcing you to go and get owned.
Who said that I did do them? I’ve watched numerous times as a keep/towers would get attacked and taken as 30 people are doing the “Jumping Puzzle” right next to it. The people would say "D_e+r=p … I was H+e+r_p.. doing the F_l+er p… Jumping Puzzle D+e+r_p… I’m Sorries…
So ya pretty much the PvE needs to go in Wv3, way to much derping going on.
My personal favorite is losing a Supply Camp to "H+e+r_p… I needed D_e+r-p… Gold Vein… P+e=r_p… I’m Sorries…

P.S. Orbs have nothing to do with the score.
It is possible to be in LAST place AND have all 3 orbs.
Please learn ALL of the mechanics of the game before you cry about them on the forums.

Anyway, people have suggested trading out manned stats with Orb stats. Which I support; the losing side should have the advantage in the game.

I’m getting sick of having a pro computer that can meet the requirements easy for GW2 and playing at 10 frames in Wv3 in large fights. The invisible enemy issue is getting old as well. Anet will start losing people over this to other games coming out if they don’t get these issues resolved soon. It sucks because I really like GW2 and Wv3, but I don’t like it anymore at 10 fps and not being able to see my target.
What’s the score please?
I really wish people would get over this already.
I wish jumping puzzles would go altogether… I wouldn’t miss them.
So I keep hearing this question come up, so I’ll be the one to ask. Is there any plans or talks about declaring a winner in Wv3? I know I’ve read before that sPvP will have a gold flag and a title for someone that comes in first in the sPvP season, but what about Wv3? I figure so, because there is a ranking system, but would like to get an official answer on this.

Na… It’s just you tried to play the undefeated card a month after release. That was just a bad way to go out on your part; you can’t say you’re undefeated before the competition ends.
And so am I. They dominated and based on what some of my friends on JQ and ET told me, that was not going to change anytime soon. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this. The most important thing here is that they are spreading out. This is good for the NA servers. I’m hoping this causes a domino effect and we get server balance reaching further than tier 2. Yeah I’m glass is half full kinda guy. Cheers.
Na… It’s more like a gaming community has standards, and those standards are finishing a competition undefeated before claiming the title. You don’t just get to walk in and take the title because you’re a half full kinda guy.

Actually they can because they did dominate. What makes it really impressive is that they did this despite their queues. They did not tuck their tails and run. They toughened it out.
I can say that the Holocaust didn’t happen too, but I’ll just get laughed at on the way out the door. Saying you’re undefeated a month into a bracket before the game balances is just absurd. This month is only a fraction of the bracket; I’m just stating the facts.
It was fun guys and thanx for the fun times. We might not get bumped into the tier 1 bracket because SBI is in third. Since they were in second, their ranking might not drop low enough past ET bracket. This makes me wonder how it will work if the 2nd and 3rd place server keeps switching spots every round. Will they just continue to swap ranking and be in Tier 1 forever. If this was the case, how could this be prevented to stop servers from purposely affecting their ranking to stay in the top bracket?

I have it too and so do many others in my guild.
Not getting credit for taking a node in Wv3. I noticed earlier today that I didn’t get credit for killing a Sentr. I just took Garrison, killed the Keep Lord, stood on the node, and got no credit for it. Same thing when taking Longview as well.

LMAO… Yup, that’s what I got from it!
I agree with this… My post got an error so I don’t feel like typing it all out again. Pretty much don’t find guards to have a real purposes as their easily defeated, and would like to see them as a mechanic to taking a keep then just being a body bag before a door. Also suggested having roaming sentry guards that roam around the map and make the sentry points worthwhile.

Yes, the problem with lag all on the computer itself. The coding Anet uses still bottlenecks at the CPU and the server hardware can’t handle the clients for Wv3.
The more you get downed, the longer it takes for abilities to be ready.
Maybe you missed the part in my post about not being downed previously… I wasn’t downed previously. It would be one thing if I got downed, used my skills rallied and then died again. I joined the map, played for about 30min, got downed 1 time, had no skills to use.
Sometimes when I get downed(w/o being downed previously) all my skills are on cool down. I can’t teleport or stealth, why does this happen? Downed state is a failed idea for pvp anyway. When I can’t do anything in downed state, it’s even more fail.
