It was a Mesmer and we were not close enough to any mobs. I know a Warrior can do that, but wasn’t aware a Mesmer can.

How is this a good system in a 1v1 fight; when I down someone and I’m trying to finish them off. I get downed in the process and they get all their health back and finish me off easily? Kinda fail if you ask me…
I’m still trying to figure out how they were able to get out of downed state after throwing rocks at me.

It’s just a typical glass cannon build. I don’t understand how that is the best sPvP build period. You have no Toughness or Condition removal and not enough HP to make that ok. You would die pretty quickly to any competent player.
Na I’m competent as well, so I kill them too.

Comparing WoW realease with GW2 release is abdundant, they are more than 7 years apart, which means GW2 had 7 years to improve.
Besides GW2 have had a ton of other MMO’s to learn from aswell.
" abdundant" Doesn’t make any sense in that statement. I whole heartily proved my case. Since the majority uses WoW as the ladder, I must so as well. When it comes down to the game; if you don’t like it, don’t play it. Really just as simple as that…. Good Day. :P

It did, it’s not complete crap. Did you play WoW when it first came out? It was littered with massive amounts of bugs and exploits. Don’t even get me started about the balance. There was no Battlegrounds nor Arena, no raids besides UBRS. No dungeon or Tier sets, the chat system was terrible. Finding a group was ridiculously hard due to the chat channels. All in all, GW2 is way better off then WoW ever was when it launched by a landslide.

The best build of them all for random sPvP period.
You need to copy and paste the link, for some reason the GW2 forums can’t handle large links.
I get top player and so much Glory with this build, and best of all I only have to put 10% effort into it. This build can beat anyone 1v1 and gives easy escape if under pressure. If you can’t be decent with this build, then you need to logout and never log back in.

World of Warcraft was worse in every way when it came out. It didn’t even have ranked PvP, or any PvP for that matter besides World PvP. Just grab yourself a tissue and let the game develop.

By low toughness I mean ~900. Thats what most thieves in general run with without speccing specifically for it. Also illusions take a lot longer than .5 seconds to kill. Typically it will take 3-4 auto attacks to kill one illussion, I can’t really use any initiative skills on the illussions or else I have nothing to hit the Mesmer with.
If you’re having initiative issues, you’re not speccing right.

I played a Thief until I rolled a Mesmer.
We all know there is a problem, and it has been stated in the forums so many times. The problem with fixing the Mesmer is having to break the entire class mechanics of Mesmer to make it viable. This isn’t going to happen soon, so just everyone roll a Mesmer for sPvP and problem solved. :P
P.S. I was just playing against a Thief that was doing 8k in Bleeds alone, so you’re doing something wrong anyway.

I’ve played Thief in randoms as well as a Mesmer… Quit playing a Thief to play the Mesmer.
Not that I was bad with a Thief, just that I only had to put 10% effort into a Mesmer; rather than 100% with a Thief. A really fun class all around if you know how to play it correctly.

Why I think this is a bad system…
So I was on the Red Team just starting a fresh match of 8v8. We capped all 3 points while the Blue Team tried to kill our lord and failing miserably. They tried to take a point and with no succession a few people left which brought up the Auto Balance. I chose “I’ll take my chances” as usual, and I was moved to the Blue Team. At this point the Red Team was up about 150 points. I proceeded to destroy the Red Team and took all the points for the Blue Team.
After some time passes the Blue Team was up about 50 points and what do you know… Some people on the Red Team left. This again brought up the Auto Balance which I chose the same thing and was moved to the Red Team once again. I sighed a bit and proceeded to take all the points for the Red Team.
After succeeding and being in about an 80 point lead(Score was like 320 – 400 at this point.) some people left on the Blue Team bringing up yet again the Auto Balance. What do you know, by pure randomtivity I was moved back to the Blue Team and won the game… Thank God!
This system is just terrible and needs to be taken out. At the very least, if someone is forced to move; they should only have to move once and that’s it. Kind of ridiculous to pretty much have to beat myself in sPvP.

Downed state should just be down with in sPvP period. It doesn’t make sense when people die twice, but only live once… Think about the physics and the children. :P

Get rid of all the PvE events, mobs, farming, jumping puzzles, etc… This will definitely fix the botting problem in WvWvW.

Glad they have left the rewards out for Dolyak Escorting. Supply is rewarding enough, and now I don’t have to see 50 people escorting a Dolyak while a keep is being lost right next to them.
Hopefully they just leave the xp/karma rewards out for good.

Ya… Warriors running around swinging wildly for massive amounts of damage with a GS isn’t OP enough. I play a Thief and can’t do 6-8k damage with 3 basic swings, and god for bid if they pop bolas and Hundred Blades… it just turns in to an lolfest.
Are you kidding me sir? I would go on to state other obvious abilities that warrior has for sPvP that make them amazing… But what is the point?

Truth is, it’s the veteran WoW players that are having a major problem with this game, and most of us have no problem if you go back to WoW
That’s not true, I have a problem with the sPvP mechanics and I’ve competed in many other games but WoW. I still do fine and always get top player, but the mechanics are just terrible and classes are just ridiculously imbalanced.
Games I’ve competed in for the record:
MvC2, EC, PJ, SF, KI, CoD, CS, Halo, LoL, DoTa, FFXI, GW, WoW
P.S. Not complaining about it, just stating the obvious facts about sPvP.

I’m ok with autobalancing so long as you still get a glory bonus for being swapped to offset possibly losing the win bonus as a result.
Agreed, I would be willing to volunteer if I got a Glory bonus for taking the loss. It’s pretty annoying to get ported on the losing site right before you’re going to win, but I get top player every time… So it isn’t all that bad.

Yup, been pro gaming since the 80’s and don’t see this game being viable as competitive PvP on any level as it stands now. The mechanics for sPvP are just broken if intended or un-intended, no diminishing returns on CC’s, some classes are just OP(So many Mesmers lol), or some classes are un-powered(However you want to see it.), Downed state is terrible imo for sPvP, the glory system is just a horrible design(Awards to much glory for losing.)
I was pretty disappointed with the WvWvW blog statement, which makes me worry about the sPvP blog statement. Overall… I don’t see Anet talking about the real issues about PvP and it’s kind of disheartening to hear.
On the positive note I see a lot of potential for PvP in Guild Wars 2 if the real issues can be addressed and fixed in a timely matter. I played Guild Wars when it came out and there was problems with GvG and HoH PvP. Overtime those issues were fixed, so hopefully Anet can figure out the issues with Guild Wars 2 and address them accordingly.

WvW is supposed to go to two week cycles.
Yes it is, but I don’t see a 2 week cycle working anytime soon; or a 1 week cycle for that matter. I’m not going to go into every little detail, but for starters population is a huge issue for WvWvW atm. As well as the matchmaking system.
Something needs to be done about the transfer system first to get the servers evened out, but as of now I think 3 day cycles would be prime. Because 2 weeks of this would just be really boring.

I agree, this is making the stronger servers more buffed and the weaker servers worse off. The 15% stat bonus should go to the underdog servers to even out the odds(Which 15% won’t do it in some cases.) The stronger server should just get some bonuses like the out-manned buff.
I think the orb bonus would need to be reworked in this case. You get a certian percentage based on how much you are out-manned. so if the other server had 5% more than you population wise, you should only get 5% buff. If the server had 30% more population, then you would get a 30% buff. This is how tenacity worked in Wintergrasp in WoW… But ti didn’t work to well, so idk how well this would work in WvWvW.

I went up against a team of 4 Mesmers and 1 Ranger. That is 3×4 = 12 Clones + 3 mesmers = 15 ridiculous things to kill on the screen. It was so bad, it wasn’t worth mentioning the Ranger and his 1 pet into the equation. Honestly I feel sPvP is broken in a lot of ways, but I’m sure Anet will get around to fixing those issues.

Who cares, we won? According to the pictures ET is doubled in points so people aren’t stressing over it. It’s just 24 hour matches, so most people figured we already won; which we did. I’m sure people went and got some nodes back after the fact as usual. but if it is a million points to 100k, people aren’t really going to care about some nodes being taken. Right now it’s 1:30 PST time and here are the scores:
ET: 22,659 – 410+
IoJ: 11,700 – 165+
SoS: 6,993 – 120+
Night crew is doing just fine, so what’s the worry?

As we all know in sPvP glory is earned instead of experience for PvP rewards. Glory corresponds to a specific rank ranging from a Rabbit to a Dragon. In Guild Wars 1 there was a ranking system similar in HoH. This ranking system was 1-15; and r3 to r15 could be shown off to others by typing /rank; these ranks were Deer, Wolf, Tiger, Phoenix, and Dragon. A video of the Dragon emote here for the people that haven’t seen it and for the awesomeness.
It would be nice if a similar emote system could be implemented into Guild Wars 2, so players can show off their ranks to others. Is it possible to add something like this to Glory ranks for Guild Wars 2? I know people would enjoy to have them as much as I would.

How would you stop something like this…? If two servers talk outside of Guild Wars 2, like on an outside forum on TS/Vent it’s really outside of Anet’s control. For one Anet can’t monitor the world, and second there would be no real way to prove it.

Not really fun being a tier 1 server playing against tier 2 servers. Not complaining, just stating the facts. It’s just going to be boring owning the entire map, and I could only imagine how SoS and IoJ feels about it. Can we get some information on how the WvWvW MMR system works, because I’m curious to know how someone wins in the tier 2 bracket and doesn’t take the losing server position of the tier 1 bracket.

The option to have all loot instantly distributed into our bags until they are filled would be nice. After our bags are full then having them be a loot bag wouldnt be then end of the world.
This has been discussed before on the Beta forums, and Anet’s answer was that it is a matter of coding and not possible anytime soon. So as I agree with you that it’s a pain to keep trying to get your loot while fighting 40+ people. It’s just something that isn’t going to happen soon.

There needs to be a real incentive for people to move off the band wagon servers and on to other servers, and a true cap to force people from being able to join high populated servers.
In all honesty people join specific servers to be on the number 1 server. It’s like this in any game you play, for instance WoW had Tichondrius and Blackrock along with other servers. It’s just a fact in the gaming community that people look at server rankings in picking a server.
After about two years when Blizzard asked the community to spread the population from high populated servers to lower populated servers and even with free server transfers… This is what we got.

So unless Anet is willing to give out some lucrative toy, gold, or gems. No one is going to go anywhere and that’s just the facts. Sure some people will spread to other servers because of queues or other reasons, but not anywhere near the numbers needed to fill the servers as required.

They should raise the armor repair rates because it’s currently dirt cheap to repair. There is no consequence for dying which isn’t good. I have full exotics and it costs me 3s to repair each death. This would help with stopping people from non stop zeging. Like for instance, running from the waypoint to the Garrison over and over again like a zombie mob. People would end up too broke to keep doing it, which is fine by me. Also people would actually have to put some coordinated effort into playing, because if they didn’t they would end up broke and armorless.
During raid times about 7-9pm EST I make 4g in WvWvW, how can you be broke from repairs? Even if you died all the time, the repairs aren’t that much.
i agree, as a newb trying to learn the area its pretty disheartening to keep getting reamed by both the more experienced players AND the repair guy
What server do you play on? I play on ET and always feel bad when we get dropped to Tier 2 after losing and just ream the servers in that bracket. Nothing against them, but it’s always a landslide win.
What do you guys do to farm money? If you farm the gold around the southern section of the Borderlands. You can get about 50s-70s, more than enough to afford repairs. Another thing our server does to farm is get about 5 people and roll around the map killing PvE mobs, it generates good drops and XP. I bring alts to level all the time in WvW just doing that on slow days. On top of that with just drops I can make almost a gold an hour.
Maybe your builds aren’t meant for WvW and your gear isn’t what it should be. Are you using Vit and Toughness? Those are stats you definitely want in there. If you go something like full Berserker’s(Glass Cannon), you’re going to die all the time with no armor or health.
Idk… There are some ideas you can throw around for yourselves and either take it or leave it.
