I don’t think its so much the 11 weeks that caused the issues between our servers. Its the constant trolling that started off as one player wanting to spark some competitive spirit between the two of us which happened to escalate rather quickly.

To expand my point however, recruiting more coverage is also a solution. You cant win with just a massive primetime population. You cant win with just an even timezone spread. You cant win with just skill. You need a balance of all 3.

Which is why I feel the scoreboard is a “good” indication of a servers place. This game type is a 24/7 territory grab. The servers with the better balance of the 3 categories I listed will be able to put more points up. This is how the game type is supposed to be played.

You dont waltz into a Capture the flag game, fore go capping to just camp kills, and then rag on the players posting numbers of flag caps. COF is based on flag caps, k/d is irrelevant unless its used to determine the efficiency of the cappers.

Thats the issue I have with certain SOR players. Its great your k/ds are so high, but k/d isn’t the measure of WvW success. Points are. I understand SOR is at the bottom of the T1 food chain in terms of coverage, we all realize this.

I truly don’t fault you for just going for kills. I fault you for telling the rest of us playing the game type as intended that points are irrelevent, and that k/d is the de facto success meter.

When a group of 20 wipes a group of 40, that group of 20 is operating more efficiently. They are making effective use of their population.

The point I was trying to make, since you missed it, is that the system is flawed. Matches aren’t won by superior play, they are won by who has the best around the clock population and coverage. I pride myself on playing better than my opposition, not on taking keeps while they are sleeping.

WvW isn’t about how many kills you can rack up. WvW is about taking enemy real estate for your server.

This new system would have the blue teams perpetually stuck while a much larger server comes down every other week while at the same time a much weaker server comes up. This will result in 1 week where the Green server completely dominates, which would make the Red server drop back down and the Green server go back up.

You think its better to have every other week a complete blowout? Blue and Red will have very little motivation to make a showing every other week. 50% of the matches from this point on barring a significant population shift.

Is that seriously a good idea? The matches may be “stale” now but they are much more balanced than they would be under this system.

Culling is a system designed to prioritize what gets loaded on your screen, howw much gets loaded on your screen, and how far away it can be on your screen and still visible.

It was designed to help slower connections handle the cluster kitten that can be WvW.

Culling as it is now may not be entirely intentional, but if culling was never implemented most connections would not be able to handle WvW.

Ques are necessary when there is x+n people trying to occupy a space that only fits x amount of people.

If one guild has 25 members in the map and another guild has 24 members on the same map (the map having a max capacity if 50) if both guilds have a player that is trying to get in, with your statement #1 who gets in?

Are the people who have been waiting to get in for 30+ minutes supposed to wait longer because someone elses’ guild mates decide to que at the last minute just as a free space becomes available?

When everyone pays the same rate for the box, cutsies are out of the question.

Everything I heard mentioned BG having pretty good 24/7 coverage – is that not true? I know the numbers are a bit skewed this week due to the lunar New Year, but later in the week that should balance out some.

Great week so far, here’s to hoping that internal Kaineng drama doesn’t skew our awesome matchup thread and the fantastic atmosphere TC and BG have shared with us.

Compared to most servers we have fought yes we do have superior coverage. This issue for other servers is slightly alleviated by the apparent map cap reduction which was supposedly implemented a few weeks ago.

In terms of civility this is one of the best threads I have seen. GG so far to Kain and TC.

Zerg’s that are not of a majority guild on any server fall pretty easy. Then there’s also the fact not all guilds on every server are same, and a mixed bag depending on the time slot.

I expect better guilds on each server to farm pug zergs, and have mixed encounters depending on the guilds they face.

There’s no point generalizing servers given the limited perspective.

Although lately I have been noticing ICoa having trouble fitting all our online members into 1 map. This causes our groups to become spread out between many maps, and our groups diluted with those who are unfamiliar with our strategies, and although many do hop into our public teamspeak there are many who do not.

It makes coordination all that more difficult, and makes it easier to route our groups. However it does give us a chance to familiarize other players firsthand with our play style.

Hopefully that will allow us to up our game even further as a server and provide you with a more challenging opponent.

If you could have seen some of our medium/large group play last week against JQ/SOS (with the old map pop caps), you could get a better idea of what we are capable of.

Only time I died was against a few awesome TC thieves whilst guiding the yak and at SMC with the entire ICOA and TC server coming down on us at the same time and still held it for 2 wipes of BG and 1 wipe of TC.

Good fun this matchup.

That was nowhere near the number ICoa usually runs, and oddly enough with so few players there are ques on all 4 maps most of the day.

Apparently SoS and BG’s “BWC” alliance both have this ridiculous idea that staying in Tier 1 will have us in near-bottom tiers for over a month. I feel sorry for everyone not part of these alliances who are trying to enjoy the game, and especially JQ who did not want to take part in this ridiculous plan having no resistance in WvW, I can’t imagine that is very fun for them either.

Its not ridiculous, the way the old ranking system and how this rating reset work that would be the most likely outcome for the third place server.
