I think only Sword and bow are useful… The axe can be outplayed by many class weapons skills, the lighting hammer isn’t reliable and idk what the shield actually is good for.
They shield has a pull similar to scorpion wire, I think its called magnetic grasp. It also has some decent defensive utilities but I rarely use it.
But castle to castle sieges NEVER existed even in fantasy books. That’s because it would be ridiculous.
I’d love it if they patched in 100 mile treks to plunder enemy keeps just to meet the standards of your fantasy books.
You might also want to visit Europe, particularly the Rhine river region in Germany and the mountains in Austria. Those castles are very close to trebbing distance IRL.
They are still keeping the same match ups I thought, so SoR would be against JQ and either BG or SoS which would technically be the first tier one matchup for the new ratings.
Yes they are, the results of this week will determine who is fighting who next week (so JQ v SOR v SOS/BG will be the next matchup)
But all the server’s get a rating reset so even though JQ/SOR/(SOS or BG) will be fighting each other next week every server will be tied for first.
I.E. Technically no tier 1. Although I assume most will agree SOR made it to T1 despite this technicality.

And the real kicker is the 2 servers fighting SOR next week will most likely be very even so their rank wont rise/fall by much. The low tier stacked servers can blow out their matches and will make huge gains meaning all the current T1 capable servers will most likely be T2-4 the week after.
I find it amusing that most of the bellyaching is coming from SoR when in all likelihood the SoR-TC-SBI match is one of the main reasons for this shuffle.

Probably has more to do with the stacking that took place just prior to and just after the Jan 28 patch announcement.
SOR’s stacking was more recent, and it certainly isn’t the only server that got a huge influx of guilds.

The way I read it this matchup will determine who fights who next week, however next week the ratings will be reset. Technically there will not be a tier 1 next week as every server will start off with equal rating. If i’m right I don’t mean to poop in your punch.
Some footage I have from late saturday night when Blackgate was trying to hold SoS and JQ out of hills in SoS borderlands. It was some of the best fighting that I’ve been part of in a long time. I had over 40minutes of footage so it was a bit hard to cut down. Hopefully everyone enjoys.

Yes, as far as T1 goes it is too early to tell.
The SOR T2 component is almost certainly not too early to tell, save an unforseen major event. Because T2 is all but a certainty we can speculate using SOR’s rating gains.

Yeah… not gonna happen. Not that I doubt SoR’s ability to crush their tier, with their 600+ppts, but you’re forgetting one big important factor: SoS They’re not just gonna be dead all week; they’ll be back out there soon, and in ‘normal’ numbers. Likely by tomorrow, is my guess.
I know, it is still early in the week, but SOR save a major event is going to rake in the rating this week.
If SOS takes some of the projected rating gains away from JQ this week (JQ can still have a positive net gain) it lessens the amount of total rating SOR needs to take 1st. SOS entered this matchup with 2,168.621 rating with a projected net loss of 60+. It would take a large (still possible) comeback to break even.
SOS breaking even this week would require JQ and BG to have have significantly lower (and possibly negative) gains, which would still make it easier for SOR to shoot up to first since they are relatively unopposed in their tier.
I believe SOS will make a showing this week after the holiday and the natural disasters in Australia, although I don’t think even a win will put them to far into the positive. I am not underestimating them.
However the better they do this week (given their projected 60 point loss) the lower the bar is for first place (in terms of rating).

Depending on how badly SOR wins this week they could even be within a few points of 1st place, or even rank number 1 in NA without ever having to step into T1.
This is early in the week, but the trend for current T2 servers is clear.
The rating needs a serious overhaul, or an artificial bump to move dead servers down the tiers faster, and inflated servers up the tiers faster.
For absolutely no reason should a server be able to take first place, or come close in total rating without ever having been in T1.
Looks like Maguuma is falling behind. If anyone is looking for a server Maguuma needs a WvW boost. Great friendly community, minimal trolling, and a love for large active zerg guilds.
And the funny thing is people (from JQ, SoS and SoR, as well as some in BG probably) want SoR in T1. That would make T1 so much more competitive!

I’m sure each server listed above has people who want different things from their server mates. Just read the T1 thread, there are many who want BG to stay and many who want to fight SOR.

What happened to iCoa?
ICoa has close to 500 people, but as far as I know, 500 is the cap on a guild’s size; nobody will have a 500+ member guild. But nonetheless, ICoa, to some degree, is almost always in WvW.
In the event that a guild would break the 500 cap they create a sister guild. ICoa has hit 500 before, but with a recent inactive sweep (long-time inactives) and the 01/28 patch announcement they are now at 430+.
Last night there was close to 100 online when I logged in and that was towards the end of ICoa’s primetime so players were steadily logging off for the night. They usually have roughly 30 online at any given time.
SoS and JQ:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to push BG out of T1. If you choose to accept this mission, you may be accused of double teaming. You will have to play nicely with those you call the enemy. But in the end, you will have the satisfaction of pushing BG out of T1 and facing a truly worthy opponent. SoR wants our taste of T1.

Proper communication makes the whole process easier. They are a Korean-based guild utilizing an appeal process with an American (English speaking) company, and they wanted to minimize any miscommunications. Not everyone can speak English well.

If JQ and SOS guilds dont transfer to BG to help even out the T1 wvw populations/coverage, we are taking Feisty’s score updates with us back to T2.
Theres probably going to be an internal cooldown implemented on the lifesteal proc, meaning aoe/cleave + high crit rate will no longer make you a demi god when consuming this food.
RG is happier than a pig in slop at the moment, they are overwhelmed with the amount of empty towers and keeps they can pvdoor every night* There, I fixed it for you.

Unless you repair your doors with 100% grade A player meat some environment has to be knocked to take towers and keeps. How else will they get to the meat-bags cowering behind the doors?

Try calling a Brit a European, they (generally) don’t like it to much. While technically a part of Europe, the British consider themselves separate or isolated from the mainland (in more than 1 sense).
Considering the fact that HB is on Blackgate, and from what I’ve seen, RG really wanted to fight HB, transferring to BG would be rather counter intuitive would it not?
If RG’s purpose is to fight HB then yes you are right. The quote I responded to suggested RG was only looking for fights (in a general sense) and to do so it would be best to transfer to SOS or a server with a matchup against Kaineng to fight WM.
SoR has better prime time than BG and just got the coverage to most likely match them at Oceanic hours, which was the only reason BG got out of T2 at the time anyways. I suspect BG/SOR will be trading places in T1 alot.

Yeah it gives me the chuckles too. Like last night in EB for example. We (BG) were holding off wave after wave of JQ trying to take back Bravost, with two walls down along with the gate, when I heard on TS “what’s SoS doing in here?”. LOL! Obviously they saw a hole in the wall and decided to check it out. Clearly a 2v1! (kidding). Those runs on Durios and Bravost last night were pretty fun by the way. Maybe frustrating for JQ for awhile, but you got them back in the end.
Anyhoo .. yeah, I think accusations of 2v1s will grace this forum until the lights finally go out on the game.

Still not sure why you moved to JQ if you guys truly love the fight, as most of the pop in that timezone is on JQ. Its almost like you chose to pvdoor and fight HB.
If its fights you were after, youd have either moved to sos or somewhere to go fight war machine.
Yes to find fights struggle to fit your guild on the most stacked server. Definitely dont go to the red team in T1, they never get any fights.
Much like in real life, these decisions show character, but I can’t really look down on people for taking the easy, fun way. Its just human. I bet a bunch of transferees were teamstackers out for ‘teh win lolz pwnt’ cowadooty types but a decent amount are also people just trying their best to hang on to the relationships they feel they have online.
Taking the easy way would be staying in T2 to fight TC. Moving to T1 to go from big dog to underdog is definitely the more fun thing to do.
No one moved to SoR to stomp TC or SBI, they came to test themselves with us in T1 versus the top servers which are not easier and have more coverage.
This. Not only will SOR be fighting servers with the largest WvW populations, they will be fighting the servers themselves. Right now when Legendary Thor [HB] swings his mighty hammer against the legions of Green and Blue heathens the very foundation of EBG shudders. Denizens of Stonemist are left frozen in awe as hundreds swarm their lords quarters, thirsting for digital blood.
Smokee did mention 20-25 HB at the end of the first paragraph of his post. The problem with Smokees numbers is that they don’t include pugs because pugs don’t count apparently, so if its 1 HB and 60 pugs, he defeated your 50-man group with 1 HB.
Which is why he is constantly telling pugs in /m and /s to not follow HB while they are hunting so as to not skew the GvG results, and unless needed he runs without his Comm tag.
Down state is what you get when the trinity is taken out of a game.
I’ve actually enjoyed having to micro manage players I’ve downed while downing the remaining players, then proceeding to clean up by individually finishing them.
Downed state is essentially a free kill if you have the situational awareness to eliminate instances for an opponent to rally.
It isn’t hard.
If you are in large groups try focus firing players, even if they rally (the pop up with half health) they will die fast.
Aside from the the anecdotal “rally on a bunny” (is this even an issue?) I don’t see the issue with downed state.

HB are the new PRX in terms of massive numbers steamrolling through you with culling.
PRX are not a shadow of what they used to be. Still solid, but nowhere near what they used to be before the euro move.
And if HB come saying they only run 20 people (and i mean on the field not your guild alone) im calling shenanigans on that, its a minimum of 30+ always :P

Its probably best to reserve judgments until after mid week at least. Its fresh in the week so there shouldn’t be enough data points to accurately gauge the current weeks rating outcomes.
one thing people need to remember that being in a lower tier doesn’t mean less fun. infact the opposite is true for many people. you just have to get around the 2-3 weeks of uneven matchups as the server moving to its proper tier.
just look at hod and ET, even matchups are the best.
Having to wait a month to regain a balanced matchup is a terrible thing considering how long this game has been out already.
Having a server shake-up is bad. Having it settle after a month only to have another bombshell announcement cause a new shake-up is even worse. Yes, leaving the announcement till the feature hit live would have been a good thing.
Transfers would still happen, but they would do so in a more gradual manner allowing affected servers a smoother transition into appropriate tiers. How long did ET and HoD take to settle in their current tiers?
The WvW populations of entire servers are affected in a negative way. Eventually things will smooth out. Eventually.
One month to (yet again) balance tiers in a 4 1/2 month old game.
Sounds like BG damage control right there. It is okay, you can both switch to double team us instead of fighting each other. We welcome the challenge. We won’t QQ like the JQ guy above me a post or two.
Call it what you will, especially when there are pictures and testimonials from SOS players that BG is in fact not just focusing JQ (in SOS BL). I believe “thanks BG for all the badges” is a common theme.
There is a reason BG wasn’t attacking in SOS BL (which if I followed the initial convo correctly is where the issue was, SOS north camp) as i stated in my earlier posts. There were players wasting our supply as well, preventing us from mounting effective defenses and offenses.
And judging the overall (SOS) reaction to JQ beating SOS during new years, I’m not so sure there would be a lack of QQ. You might enjoy the challenge, but you aren’t the entirety of SOS.

Clever, ignore the possibility the mass influx brought in trolls from other servers and immediately mention BG. Next insert a rumor from the grape vine and antagonize a rivalry between your competition.
Next you’ll tell us how JQ and BG fighing each other helps each server raise their overall ranking by a larger margin than attacking the highest ranking server would.
We (JQ) have a guy hanging out on our borderlands at Spiritholme (north supply camp) constantly using supply to build golems. When politely (or otherwise) asked to stop, he makes some complaint about Temple of Balthazar.
Blackgate on SOS BL have the same people constantly upgrading supply camps the moment we flip them draining all supply, despite being asked not to and given an explanation why. Trolls gonna troll.
Its been a fun reset trying to muster up enough supply to put a dent in paper doors =/
If SBI stuck it out after that one guild left, they may have been fine at T3 ot T4 and may have had a lot of fun. But, if what you say is accurate and everyone has left, you’ll be dropping further down than you should have.
This is an example on why free transfers should and will stop. If an important wvw guild has the resources to leave in the future, the server may drop a few pegs, but there won’t be a mass exodus to start a painful spiral to T7/T8. The timing is unfortunate for SBI.
This is more of an example as to why Anet shouldn’t have announced the date paid transfers go into effect until that patch hit live.
There has been a mass influx of guilds from lower tiers into the top 2 tiers because now is their last chance at free transfers.
They no longer have the luxury to see if there current server can make a push without having to pay to leave if the score isn’t favorable.
