We learned some new things against JQ and BG last week. Mostly we learned that our server is mostly fairweathers.

i don’t underastand how you can expect anything else with being the new bandwagon server. it has been the case with every other bandwagon server as soon as the easy wins stop the new people don’t show up anymore. why did you think this wasnt the case with db to make this some sort of suprise?

It’s interesting because DB received all of its transfers when the “easy” wins stopped. Since we moved to T2, we had one week I would consider easy; the rest have all been hard fought, excepting last week when we were soundly trounced.

sure i have another theory. you got the transfers in t3 they got you to t2 where you didnt dominate and so they lost interest the same as many other bandwagon servers.

No. You are wrong. We were going to T2 because we dominated T3 with our SEA population. The first transfers came the week before we went to T2.

I think what did it was when I actually had someone from BG jump off the cliff and kill himself instead of trying to fight me 1v1… pretty much set the tone for the tier.

Maybe he was just a pacifist and couldn’t stomach the thought of killing you, but knew you’d try kill him so he took the noble route.

I hope we have many more matchups! DB’s SEA puts up much more of a fight than SoR’s ever has, TFV fields massive numbers is fun to fight them.

We need you guys back to help us 2v1 SoR. SoS & TC don’t quite have the same “understanding” in that regard.

Obviously SoS and TC haven’t completed the “I hate your guts” period of our relationship.

Whoa, nobody wants to 2v1 anybody. I guess it seemed that way these past couple of weeks because we got tired of fighting, and we wanted to see other people. But it was still nice to see you guys on the other third of the map, just in case we wanted to fight you. But it is still good to get break.

But in this match up, most of us actually like Ebay. Maguuma though, is just full of e-thugs straight up calling guilds out. I guess we just understood each other in the end.

No need to get negative. Even though you are getting utterly destroyed when the previous week you thought you may have stood a chance against a tier 1 server.

One player, once upon a time, mentioned that “no one really knows if there’s a gap between T2 and T1” because it’d been static for so long.

You have decided that because of that one remark, ALL T2 SERVERS, especially TC, seem to think we could beat T1 servers.

That is not the case, and never has been….yet you have made it your personal troll campaign and odd obsession for the past couple months. No one from TC went into this week expecting to do amazingly well against SoR. SoR, for all intents and purposes is a “T0” server, not a T1 server, anyway.

If TC was going to be even partially comparable to a T1 server, it would be JQ, and even then that wouldn’t be a win…it would just be a more fair fight than this week has been.

Compounding this week was our obvious 50% attendance yesterday because of this stupid dragon event. These stupid ANet events annoy the hades out of me.

This has nothing to do with wvw participation. During NA prime time our servers are fairly even. Just saying you have a huge group mentality. The big elephant in this room is you have more SEA/Oceanic coverage which is where your “greater WvW participation” occurs, I’d say compared to DB we are holding up much better against it(but I hate to even mention that because it turns into a cesspool of hate/crying so that is as far as I’ll go with that).

Not to disrespect the FA that do run by themselves and in small groups. I’d just love to run into more of you guys. Since this match-up is going to FA, barring some miracle, it would be great to run into more 1v1 or 2v1’s from FA.

And are you insinuating I have Mad Cow disease?

it’s weird to throw up a tag and have 80 people standing on top of me, more than half of whom I’ve never seen before. I’m 99.99% sure we didn’t randomly transfer in half of our wvw pop so where were these guys, and why are they running glass?

We’ve been green for 2 weeks now. We’re winning this match up. For better or worse, PvE’ers are coming to WvW. We sure didn’t have these numbers when we faced TC, KN, or DB. Maybe if they stay they will learn something.

Mag and EBAY please FYI this is not FA akittens 100% and we arent at 100% to insult you guys. Alot of us have stopped playing to take a break and such and please not to be full with pride but do not ask for it if you know what i mean. :p

The frustrating thing is half our organized population seems to be taking a break as well. There are lots of medium-to-big groups that do really well together that you probably haven’t even seen this week.

It hit us a lot harder than it hit FA though. I won’t complain about population since I’ve had a 1001 opportunities to transfer servers to more populated ones. We chose to stay here, so we chose to deal with our weaker night times and lesser numbers. However, I honestly think a lot of you would be surprised with what we could pull off (at least during NA primetimes) if all of our hard-hitters were on the field this week.

Honestly…it all comes down to the disparity of the Tiers…There’s just a huge difference between each tier now.

Take a look at us…we aren’t even fielding that many, and we are demolishing you guys for coverage.

Now take a look at TC in tier two, a tier they dominated for many moons. We have only been able to beat TC maybe once or twice. They are getting demolished by SOR. Just about as bad as we are beating you guys. I honestly thought at one point that TC had gained enough coverage from the past few weeks to hang with Tier 1, even SOR. Guess not.

Now take a look at DB. They obviously don’t belong in Tier 1, their NA has been really sparse the past few weeks. Their SEA has been still stellar in Tier 2. But go ahead and take a look at their SEA in Tier 1(9am-11am EST, very roughly of course), they have been getting demolished. Let me tell you…DB’s Tier 2 SEA owned FA and TC for a long time. And they just cannot hang during that time.

WvW is fun, but taking these matchups beyond just casually fighting is just not practical. I’m all for server pride and all that jazz, but it makes ZERO sense for any of us to talk any smack really. Too much of this relies on the current population.

There is no auto-balancing. How many multiplayer games don’t have some sort of auto-balancing? I think ANET expects the two underdog servers to team up in this case, but that is impossible with different coverage in different timezones.

The only thing you can do is live for the fight that is presented before you.

To this point DB has the highest SEA pop outside of T1 and we are outmanned on most maps… I honestly didn’t expect the coverage gap to be that wide but man it is

Also doesn’t help that a lot of people have withdrawn from wvw this given the match up and the immediate onset of double teaming.

Look at it this way. I’ve managed more loot bags and possibly wxp in the 10~12 hours I’ve put into this matchup than the entirety of the SBI/Mag matchup we had last week. SBI rarely came out to play and Mags only pushed during NA.

On reset night in BG BL it was endless lootbags. Whether it was at the lords room of Hills or in the SE camp, we’d wipe them over and over, and more would come. In the lower tiers, you wipe them once and that’d be game. In T1 it’s an endless cycle. There are SO MANY of them that it’s great for grinding.

Doesn’t help ppt, I guess. But DB’s not ready for a legitimate T1 matchup anyway. We lack cross map cohesion, and still have too many fairweathers causing our numbers to dwindle. It’s not that we don’t have the help, it’s that they don’t want to come out and play.

Dragonbrand’s best matchup is against FA and TC. In T3 we’ll win the ppt and easily take any objective we want. In T1 we’ll lose the ppt but grind tons of loot and wxp off of the endless waves of T1 zergvers. In that sense, it’s a win-win. So chin up. It’s just a game. =)

Double teamed? No, that is what happens when facing two higher tier servers with better coverage. It has nothing to do with 2v1, plus why would BG even 2v1 us they have a longer history with JQ?

DB is a server like JQ,
with good Sea presence, lots of pugs, and most importantly, it seems DB has more organized wvw guilds than JQ.
Both server do have lots of similarities.
To be honest, they do have the number to compete with T1 server(well, people will show up less when they are losing), but they are kind of inexperienced,
so all DB needed is more experience or maybe a good T1 WvW guild to lead them, once they have that, they could turn into a real dragon.

My rl friend from BG points out that while his server had queues in all four maps early last night, DB only had a queue in EB (barely). No no presence at all in BG BL.
We still lack all around numbers compared to the T1 servers and roll with too many farewathers. It kind of sucks.

Call us bandwagoners all you want— DB’s original guilds fought for months from T6 to T3 outnumbered heavily for about 14-18 hours of the day— this is nothing new to us.

Even without the newer guilds, we’re top of Tier 3 at worst. Or at least that’s how it was a couple months ago. Honestly I can’t keep up with all of the hopping guilds. How can people afford this stuff. .__.

Holy crap… As a DB native, I am just excited to have a good match up and see how real servers play WvW. I don’t expect us to do great this time, but this is the best way to learn. Though, I find it interesting that a few JQ members are acting like they are the best thing since sliced bread when BG is clearly owning everyone. It should be an interesting fight the rest of the week. Hopefully, DB can learn a thing or two so we can be can get up to par with the rest of T1.
